Food is just amazing here and I love that they are 24HOURS!!! That's the best part. Breakfast ANYTIME! Service isn't bad. The place is small which makes it even better.

Flameburger is that place that you can really only hope to pass by when you are on your way home from a late night of bar hopping, or from sober cabbing all your drunk friends home. It's the late night space that serves delicious greasy spoon food 24 hours a day! The menu is not super expansive, but there are more than enough selections on there for everyone to get exactly what they want! I would however steer clear from anything over a 1/3lb burger, they are super heavy and usually not a good idea when you have had a few cocktails ;-) The staff has to act as both the cooks/servers as well as bouncers, so if things get out of hand, which can happen, just duck and wait for it to end. I would actually take the plate down with you, nothing says awesome conflict resolution like the rest of your burger! Honestly I'm probably there a little too often, but it's so delicious!

The flame stands for fire, as in AWESOME! This was amazing. I had a BLT and it was perfect. The young man cooking has skills!! We all enjoyed our meal and sat at the counter, which we don't normally do. But we were able to watch our food being prepared and I wasn't sure if the 'younger man' behind the counter knew what he was doing....he does and our server was extra nice, too. Kind of reminded me of the Waffle House-but better.

Flameburger is awesome because of the following: 1. 24 hrs...maybe no better place to drunk-eat at 3 am. 2. Hashbrowns - you get plenty and there frickin money. 3. 1lb and 2 lb burger...finish the 1 lb-er and feel like you accomplished something important...finish the 2lb-er and you are a god...tried it and failed miserably. Go now...well actually have a couple shots and than head over after the bars close.

This is one of those places you would find on the side of the highway and would go "I would never eat there!" However, it's rather clean inside, professional, and all the food is tasty! I have not tried the breakfast menu. They have regular specials for lunch and they are really great. Be prepared to drop $10 on lunch, they don't include a soda. Give it a shot, at least once, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

If you need greasy food any time of day or night I'm not sure you could do better. I do the burgers although the breakfast looks mighty tasty.

Taco Bell? McDonalds? Perkins? Um....no. This is the place for some drunk food. I've been here twice and only really remember one of them. I know I had a burger both times. Let me tell you about the second time. I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries. Holy monkeys. It was delicious. Not just I'm drunk and hungry like I haven't had a meal in 37 days but like good enough to come back sober and inhale the friggin burger. It was so good. Fresh cut tomatoes, onions and lettuce on a soft pillowy bun. Some thick cut freshly cooked crispy bacon and greasy cheese resting on a perfectly sized meat patty. It was so good. Honestly I would say it's one of the best burgers in the cities. No it can't compete with the bulldog or the nook or wherever you go for a 9 dollar burger. This is a greasy spoon diner burger and it's the perfect one. Love it. Though I probably never get here without some libations in my system I have a feeling if I ever did I would be equally as happy with the food.

I had the Super Flameburger with cheese. That's 8 ounces of deliciousness. It had a grilled onion on it too. The burgers are pretty straight forward here. And not to expensive. I thought it was funny that their California Burger just meant they put lettuce, tomato and mayo. The thing that really stood out on the menu was their Double Mega Flameburger. TWO pounds of burger plus eight slices of cheese plus 8 strips of bacon! The wall was filled with pictures of guys who ate the $25 monster burger. On the menu the descriptions tag line is "for the hearty eater." I think it's a typo. Should be "for the heart attacker." The place had a cool old burger joint atmosphere. It's open 24 hours except Sundays. I would probably end up back there late one night.

I grew up just down the road from this place and I have a lot of good memories here. When I have a craving for a cheeseburger Flameburger always comes to mind. Fresh ground beef that is char grilled over an open flame, perfectly grilled onion, gooey cheese and crisp bacon. An extra $2.00 will get you a heaping plate of hot crinkle fries. And you can get your burger as big as you want. Even up to the mega mega which is 3 pounds! And you can see everything being cooked from your seat. Classic 1960's feel to the place. And also amazing breakfast. Sonic down the road does not compare. Come here.

I've been here for breakfast and for burgers. I like their breakfast over their lunch menu, I was very happy with my biscuits and gravy and hashbrowns that were crunchy on outside and cooked right in middle.

This place is the quintessential open-all-night greasy spoon. Great breakfast at a decent price and the Super Flameburger does not disappoint.

This is a solid place of you are out and about at 2am looking for greasy goodness served in the form of hash browns and bacon. I've literally only been here in the middle of the night and every time I stop in I order two eggs over easy, bacon, toast, and hash browns extra crispy with grilled onions. Flameburger is extremely consistent so you can count on a good meal every time you come in. The waitresses always have great attitudes no matter the time of day and make you feel like you belong there. It almost feels like walking into the only a diner in a small town. Flameburger is in no way fancy or foodie friendly but it serves some mean breakfast items. Sometimes they have chicken fried steak which is like a million calories of fat and carbs but definitely worth the five minutes or pure heaven when you take the first couple of bites. Don't come here expecting a five star dining experience...instead, look forward to some delicious hash browns and fun people watching.

Funny that I haven't been in one of Flameburgers two locations in the Twin Cities: 1) I've lived there a couple times, and 2) they are the kinda place I seek out, greasy spoon burgers and breakfasts, open 24 hours (except for 3 hours Sunday nite). One of my nieces wanted me to check this place out, she thought I go for one of the two multi-pound burgers on the menu, the one pound mega, or the three pound ultimate mega. Flameburger also has a few entrees, fried fish, a steak, soup and shrimp. For a middle of the night burger or breakfast, hit the Flameburger, an iconic Twin Cities diner. Nothing special, other than it's there when you need it to be.

Great burger and fries, as always. Three of us came here yesterday after leaving Jambo Africa hungry and pissed off. As usual, Flameburger did not disappoint. Flameburger is a classic "greasy spoon". They have great burgers, fries, malts, AND breakfasts...made in front of you, 24/7. Service is always awesome too. Our server was friendly and completely on top of her game. -Daddy Maxx Retro

I don't get it. Burgers are average, fries are ore ida. Big deal. Service is slow and unprofessional. Too many locals hanging out talking bullshit too.

This is a Minneapolis classic mom and pop place. I've been comming here for years and the food is the same every time. I always order breakfast or the bacon cheeseburger. They cook their hashbrowns crispy on the outside and soft on the inside which I love. Flameburger is open 24 hours too so you can enjoy their food any time of day. The service is quick too.

  • Kate M.

I'm kinda conflicted on how to rate Flameburger. It's a small diner place that you can almost always count on to be open. Lunch burger specials that come with fries and cole slaw. But, the food while tasty, never really sits well. A few hours later I inevitably realize ah, this is why I stopped eating there. So, if you've got a stomach of steel when it comes to grease, want an inexpensive burger in a diner setting, this is your place. If your stomach or sensitivities run fair, you may want to dine elsewhere.

Perfect little late-night, probably-way-more-drunk-than-I-want-to-be, eat-a-greasy-burger-and-fries-you'll-regret-in-the-morning-but-so-worth-it diner spot. I am not ashamed of my drunk munchies... especially if the food is realllllly good.

A friend recently bought a house nearby and we stopped by on a late night for a bite to eat. Atmosphere is that of a classic diner. Sit at a booth or at the counter and watch your delicious burger being made. We both ordered burgers. Service was friendly and fast. Burgers were quite good. Wasn't in love with the fries, they're the thicker crinkle cut variety. I was surprised how big their menu was as it included breakfast and other sandwiches. It is definitely nice to be able to get a solid meal at a comfortable place at any time of the day.

Would not recommend this place came for a good burger and got this little slim one patty thing that wasn't up to par. Waited too long for both the check and service. The fries up this from one star to two... Next business please

Came here for lunch today, old school diner. You get to watch the cook working the grill as it is just behind the bar when you walk in. Friendly service, low wait times (it was around 1pm, so a little after rush time), excellent food. I ordered the half pound flameburger with grilled onion and cheese with fries. The bun to cheese to onion to meat ratio was spot on, as was my cooking preference (medium). The fries are crinkle cut, fried to perfection. I have had burgers from many of the go-tos in the Twin Cities and this is competing for the top spot for a traditional burger! I will definitely be going back soon.

Classic old school, small town diner. Burgers 'n Breakfast served 24 7 since 1955 Been here for lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed in the food or service.

There are hardly any 24/7 options for food in the Twin Cities. Flameburger has pretty average diner food - nothing interesting or super tasty. The waitress we had was really nice. Not great, but better than perkins, though I would not choose to come here if there were more options.

I love this place especially after bar close! Great people watching! The food especially breakfast plates and burgers are consistently the bomb. Service is quick and friendly

Classic. Still open 24 hours a day. The California Teen Burger or any breakfast food is a must. And although the food isn't top scale, it makes up for itself by the quirky atmosphere and nice service.

Go somewhere not here! Near empty place and got yelled at for sitting at a both. Go to Embers just north on Central.

Who says you can't have it all? It's greasy food, it's open 24hours and it's exactly what you need to sober up at 4:00 am, If you plan to show up for work at 8. Yeah, who says you can't have it all? Counter diner, retro booths and chairs scattered all around, it's one of the few true old American diners left around. Great burgers, great atmosphere with an even greater filling. Greasy food is never good for any of us but than again it's all a horse race towards death.

Amazing night diner, love the atmosphere and love the food!! Wish I could've found this place earlier. Feels like I've traveled back in time just a tad. Will definitely be coming back soon. It's just a place that you have to come to experience for yourself and see what it's all about. Place is great, food is delicious!!

Well the 24 hrs advertisement is a lie. I'm not from the area and we were suggested it, not a super close drive, and they were closed late night sunday despite their 24 hr sign. Bummer, good reviews

I'm a big fan of dives with quality food. This is a perfect example of dive that knows how to do their thing right. The burgers here are well seasoned before grease-ification on the traditional flat pan/grill. The buns get a little char on them as well. There is one particular item I think they do exceptionally well....... They use fresh lettuce, onions and tomatos on their burgers (if you order a burger with that anyway). Nothing cuts grease like some fresh onions and lettuce man... Also, I split a strawberry shake with my wife. It was a traditional thick and chunky shake full of real berries and piled over the rim with real whip cream.... It's definitely one of the best shakes I've had in awhile. if you are in the neighborhood, don't even slow down for Sonic... follow your sense of local support and check out this dive!

Its a classic burger joint you just have to go to at least once. They start the burgers on fire, hence the name. Its also very very good for breakfast!!! Outside of Mickey's Dinner its gotta be my fav place for 24 hour service.

Classic diner-style setting and food. Perfectly greasy and delicious. The restaurant itself manages to pull off a dive-y but also somehow CLEAN setting. And it's super cool that you get to watch the chef make your food. Awesome.

I just had my first meal here - and a very excellent one - at 2am on a Tuesday. I generally head to the Brooklyn Center Denny's for a late-nite fix, but after 10 minutes of waiting to be seated/acknowledged and then being told it would take another while to clear a table (about 5 booths occupied and 10 needing to be cleared), I left in disgust and thought I'd try Flameburger, since I remembered it had a 24 hour sign on it. Thank you terrible Denny's server, I've just found my new late-night go-to spot! I told the waitress it was my first time, she was very helpful, but not overbearing. I sat in a booth, not the counter, and ordered a fried egg sandwich with an order of fries and a pickle and a diet coke. The fries at this place are awesome! They are large, crinkle cut, and were served perfectly golden brown and piled high. The fried egg sandwich was very tasty and not too greasy. Even the pickle spear was very large and crisp. I was a little worried at the size of the pop glasses - they seemed kind of small at maybe 12 oz and I drink a lot, but I had no issues since the waitress very promptly refilled my glass and I never had to ask. Looking at these other reviews I have to laugh. I was perfectly sober, but after I started eating an obviously inebriated couple of guys (looked too young to drink, actually) came in and ordered. They didn't cause any trouble though, just the waitress had to wake one up a few times, but she seemed a pro at that (must happen alot, looking at these other reviews). The experience might be pretty awesome drunk, too, I was surprised to hear "Puff the Magic Dragon" come on over the Musak while I was there - it's got pretty standard diner/Normal Rockwell decor, so someone there must have a sense of humor, lol. My meal was pretty cheap - $8.62, and I liked the other offerings on the menu, like the burgers, and the breakfast menu, so I'll definitely be back to try those and will edit my review once I do. Definitely recommended, even for the sober!

Have you ever drove by a restaurant and wanted to go in? Oh, and then a friend kept telling you how good it was? So you finally go and then you are completely let down, that was my experience at Flameburger. Food: the food was absolutely average, at best. The food was nothing special what so ever and would not make me want to take a trip back. Atmosphere: it's a diner, I like diners they're fun. Pictures of people who have eaten absurdly large burgers decorate the walls and fourth of July decorations hang from the ceiling. Service: I hate to give a poor review of a waiter/waitress based off a single visit but I'll just say the service was bad, several orders got messed up around my table as well as at my table and the waiter/waitress did not have a good attitude about it. Chances are I would not go back to Flameburger.

You can not beat thier burgers, ranch breakfast or hashbrowns (extra crispy with cheese and onions) But you can definently beat the price. The one dollar sign rating is waaaaaay off.

    (3)
  • Mary J.

I felt the burgers were good however the fries should have been included in the price of the burgers. Is was a cafe style needed remodeling badly! For the 3 of us, 3 burgers with fries should not cost $50.00!! Unless we were eating in a 4 star place!!! This place is a dump!
