We went to El Toro because the other restaurants we wanted to check out were closed... My friend ordered a mojito but had to send it back because it tasted like mint schnapps. The margarita that I ordered was supposed to be blended, but they served it on the rocks and I could taste the cheap tequila. Additionally, the food that came out didn't match up with what I ordered. Ultimately, the food was not very good - it was bland and I can seriously make better Mexican food myself at home. Given a choice, I will never eat here again and definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Much better than the Mexican Village I am used to in St. Cloud and better than any of the La Casita restaurants. I can't say it's 100% amazing authentic Mexican food, but it's just as authentic as I could find in the Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, and Robbinsdale area... The building inside is a little dark and small, but it's nothing too intimidating. If anything it feels "homey", which I like. There's a bar side, and a restaurant side, just like most Mexican restaurants. There's also outside seating which is nice when it's warm out. They give you free chips, salsa, and sort sort of chipotle ranch sauce. I thought the ranch sauce was very strange at first. Ranch with tortilla chips? But we started sort of mixing it with the salsa they offer and now I'm a fan. It's different, but I like it. I always order the Ranchero Quesadilla with steak. MMMMM. The tortilla is crispy, the cheese is melty, and there's also peppers, onions, and the steak inside, and you get quite a bit! I can never quite finish the last slice of quesadilla. My boyfriend always orders the Chipotle Burrito (not sure if that's really what it's called...but it's something like that.) It's a gigantic burrito, about the size of a small child, haha. It's covered in this amazing thick, creamy, chipotle, sauce. It's not extremely spicy but it's got a faint heat. He loves it. That and a beer. :-) We will definitely be back.

In rating "El Toro Robbinsdale", I am wavering between 3 and 4 stars. Overall, if I was craving Mexican food and was nearby, I wouldn't hesitate to go again, and may even recommend it as a good option. However, it was the friendly and quick service that tipped my review from 3 to 4 stars. Positives: Good service. Quick service. I enjoyed my dish: El Toro Loco - chicken and shrimp with veggies and cheese on top - and felt it was all very flavorful. The side beans were also some of the most flavorful I've had. Meh: While I enjoyed my dish, my husband was not as satisfied with his Pollo Asado - he says it lacked flavor and he'd rather go elsewhere. We also weren't wow'ed by the chips and salsa - again, have had better elsewhere. The salsa was fresh and had a good taste, but we needed to spice it up with some hot sauce. The place was quite busy today even around 5pm - always a good sign. We may go again, and will probably try a few different dishes next time to get a better sense of how good the food really is here.

We went here because the pizza place down the street was too obnoxious. The fajitas were bland, shrimp tasted like they came out of a fish tank & the Mexican beers were priced like craft beers. Service was fair to poor. I would not recommend this place.

This is actually a good restaurant for Mexican food. you get a lot for what you pay for and you start with free salsa and chips. The staff is nice and food is good. Expect things like tacos/burritos and most sides are beans and rice. It's more Mexican than going to a place like chipotle but don't expect anything crazy. It's good for a price of about 8$ per combo as they list it. I hear they have good lunch specials but I have never been there for lunch! Enjoy it for what it is a American/Mexican place with good quality food at a reasonable price.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
