To further second the review by jenna v. I have to tell my fellow Yelpers that I got a speeding ticket once going to pick up an order of Won-Tons from Dragon House. Totally worth it. I even told the cop that I was going to pick up an order and they are most delicious hot hot hot. He obviously hasn't had them before or he would have given me a escort to get there even quicker. Hit it next time you are around in Columbia Heights and don't forget to snag a take-out meun.

Not your typical Chinese restaurant despite the look on the outside. A little small and dimly lit despite all the lights. A huge waiting area. Yet despite all this the food comes out a little better the your average Chinese fast food buffet place. I come here only for the fact it is the closest place to my house that has won-ton soup. In summery I would give this place a pass unless you are really hungry. There is better places IMO near by that you can get your cravings cheaper or better.

I have been going to this restaurant since I was a child and can't find any place better to find good Chinese food. We have tried other places closer to home, but they are well worth the drive. The Sweet and Sour sauce is better than any other place, it is clearly made fresh from scratch. The Hot and Sour Soup is the best I've ever tasted.

I have been enjoying meals at The Dragon House for many many years. I have not had a bad meal since my family started going here (before I was born). The owner takes much pride in the amazing food his kitchen produces. The Chinese cuisine is not as salty and greasy as most other Chinese restaurants. All their food is lighter in grease but still fills you up. I highly recommend the cream cheese wontons and the spring rolls for starters. Happy eating!

Another high school favorite. Shrimp with lobster sauce and gigantor egg fu young. Still the same American Chinese take out or eat in. Worth every penny.

Yum!! I really loved the chicken fried rice and cream cheese wontons. We ordered delivery over the phone and it was really easy and delivered right around when they said it would probably be ready. Will definitely order again!

My sesame chicken tasted like bbq sauce and ketchup and my fiancee's mushrooms were from a can. The interior is pretty dark, the tables were dirty. Service was ok, but nothing special. I was really hoping to find a closer chinese spots to us, but they aren't it. I hate giving them 2 stars, because they weren't rude, it wasn't an awful experience, but it's just not my place.

I first started going to this awesome restaurant 14 years ago when I worked at Mady's Bowl across the street. We would order takeout at least once a week! I have continued to frequent even after moving to a new job and house by the Airport. The food has stayed top notch and the atmosphere is genuine and family orientated. 40 Years they have been a staple for northeast/columbia heights. I could not imagine life without the Dragon House. Fried rice is great, egg rolls are awesome and this place has a legacy. Have never had a bad meal. Just took the whole family there last week and even my Grandma (who hates chinese food) had a little of everything and raved about the Egg Foo Young. I strongly urge everyone to give this place a try, give them you business, after all this restaurant has passed generations.!!!!!

You know you're in the right place when you're the youngest one in there by two World Wars. Not as good as Que Viet, but deece for some takeout, and chocolate covered fortune cookies are always a plus.

It's just "OK". I order from there occasionally when I'm hungry and don't want to go out somewhere better. I think this place hasn't changed in 30 years and kept up with changing expectations. If another place opened up that had the same quality I get from successful places in Minneapolis, I'd go there, but if you just want something fast and nearby, it's fine.

Came to this hole in the wall place based on Yelp reviews. It was definitely worth it! We came during the afternoon so it was quiet, the service was very friendly and quick. The food was extremely good but the portions were a little smaller than other Chinese restaurants. Order the pot stickers!

Holy buckets.... This place definitely is worth the two stars I gave it, if not than one star. Maybe I went in with too high of expectations but it was just absolutely disappointing. We had ordered Hunan Beef (which I ordered xtra spicy and it came out with no spice), Chicken Lo Mein, Won Ton soup, and Potstickers. All but the potstickers were bland, tasteless, and overly greasy. We even got jipped on the potstickers, instead of 8 we got 7!! Call me spoiled...I came from Chicago which has it's own Chinatown with PHENOMENAL Chinese food but if Dragon House has been here over 50 years than why is it such a dud?? If you want awesome Chinese food, head to the U campus.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
