I have been a customer for 25+years.When I worked in Mpls,I would have lunch there 2 or 3 times a week. A blue collar type of restaurant. If you want fancy-look elsewhere. If you want great food at a fair price ,this place is for you. I have tried an assortment of dishes and all were delicious. As Malika S says, you are treated like family. Looking forward to my next visit. Dan

Great family restaurant they make everything fresh and you can tell everyone's passionate. The portions are large and delicious. Also they treat their repeat customers like family. This restaurant has been in the neighborhood for years and deserves way more recognition. BEST TAKEOUT IN MINNEAPOLIS!

When need of a fix - of basic "Chinese" cuisine, this is the spot to go. When the "new' Lake Street Bridge was under construction, I saw a lot of construction worker trucks in the lot - probably chowing down. That was years ago, but it's still kind of like seeing a police car in a donut shop parking lot. Ya dont forget. And the employees all speak Mandarin Chinese.............

This place is a perfect hole in the wall. My fav for takeout. The food is great, the portions are huge- and not in that 'here's a pound of rice and 2 little bites of chicken' kind of way. The cartons for the special lunch takeout were one large and one small. The large was filled with very fresh veggies & large portions of meat. The smaller carton had fresh made rice. It's a bargain for a lunch big enough to feed two for dinner. The food is tasty and fresh. The lady behind the counter is a trip- the other reviewers are right - you should start a convo with her. Oh, and if you tip at all she thanks you like you just paid her car note for her or something. I think you get extra large portions too :)

Once in a while you come across a place that looks like a hole in the wall. Good thing we have Yelp and brave soles that ventured before us. Try the special with pork or chicken. If you are not sure, tell them to do half and half. It's more comfort food than any thing else. Jonie is a blast. Start a conversations with her, you will not be disappointed.

I'm afraid this place needs to reinvent itself. It's apparently been around since the 70s and time has passed it by. After trying it about five years ago, I tried it again this spring and it was disappointing. Bad American-Chinese is forgiveable if it's cheap, but the prices are one thing that seemed to have kept up with the times. Meanwhile, the meat is doled out very modestly and fresh vegetables are treated like endangered species. Ambience-wise... the flourescent lights are a buzzing buzz-kill.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
