No doubt about it, this is a dive bar, but it is kind of fun. Or server was super nice and they had Summit on tap. The lady with 2 teeth sitting at the bar and the guy that looked like he was a Seventies dude of ill repute didn't help with the atmosphere, but it added to the charm. I ordered an everything pizza with no cheese, which was AWESOME! The beer was good and cheap, the music was loud, but at least good selections. The crust was thin, but super crispy and good stuff. My wife got the side salad, which was solid for the $2 that it cost. Good stuff. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back here, but the Groupon we had was worth the trip to Northeast Minneapolis.

I guess there used to be a bar called "Rachel's" in this spot, but I had never been there before it closed up shop a couple of years ago. It was closed about 18 months and someone else bought the place and opened Camden Tavern & Grill in August/September 2012. I originally stopped by with a friend right after it opened, and the kitchen wasn't ready, so we just had drinks. Nice neighborhood bar, drinks were not watered down, and they had a nice pull tabs shop if you're into that. The barkeep was nice and said the kitchen was opening in a few weeks. We promised we'd return and we did last week. I wasn't expecting much from the cheap menus (plastic sheets bound by a single binder ring) or from the looks of things when the food arrived on cheap plastic plates. I was also worried the food was overpriced (about the same as Applebees $8.99 for a California Burger, extra $1 to substitute fries) for the quality . I'd ordered a simple California Burger (medium well) with fries substitution and my friend had the 2-pc Chicken and JoJos meal (actually that was a pretty good deal at $5.99). Well, I have to say, the burger was really fantastic - the bun was toasted well and the burger was juicy and seasoned lightly. The tomatoes and lettuce were fresh and the mayo was some of the best I've tasted. The fries were even good - cooked right, not burnt. My friend said her chicken was very tasty, too. So, while the presentation is no-frills, the food itself was great and since that's what counts for me, I give it 5 stars for the food, but there are a few things that drive it down to a 4, understandable considering they're brand spanking new. Some suggestions for improvement: I think they might want to get some hearty stoneware instead of plastic disposable plates; actual menu folders; keep smokers away from the back door as it wafts in; find a way to put the name on the awning; make fries the automatic side for burgers instead of chips - if you keep chips as the side the price should be lowered by at least $1 for all the burgers, if not $2. So there are some things I hope they work on, and I'll re-review in over the next few months. I think if the food remains great but the other things remain the same, I'll keep it at 4 stars. If some of these things improve, this place can easily be 5 stars. In any case, though, if good food matters to you, this is a great place. A great addition to the neighborhood.

I think this place represents then classic phrase " you get what you pay for". The food is cheap bar food. Greasy as hell but it hits the spot. I wish they would hire new people for their weekend brunch. The bartender is horribly rude and slow. Never remembers to bring the tab either. Even when you've asked for it 3 times. Also, they don't have a printed receipt. You get an illegible chicken scratch on a piece of order paper. For all I know, I ordered two drinks and paid for 5. I can't read the difference. The bar offers karaoke on Friday nights. So, that's a plus! Lol

A friend and I stopped by last Friday night for a bite to eat and a few drinks. For dinner I ordered the turkey dinner for only $7.99. I got a big helping of everything - turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing and green beans. That's a lot of food for the money. I took half of it home for lunch the next day. I had a few cocktails (vodka cranberry) and the drinks were strong enough to not feel like I was ripped off, not weak the way some bars serve them. My friend had the shrimp dinner for $9.99 and he said it was really good. There was a lot of shrimp piled on his plate! After eating a big dinner and feeling pretty full, we were both ready to head home. Next time we plan to go for drinks and karaoke! It looks like a fun crowd. There was a bouncer type doorman at the door starting at about 8:00.

Unbelieveably rude!! I have gone to my neighborhood bar on many occasions, even before its most recent ownership change...but no more! The last 2 visits I dismissed the rude and inattentive service telling myself they were 'busy'...not even. Tonight was last straw! Main bartender said he would get my order, and after 5min of standing there the female bartender finally took my order. At least food was quick, usually it takes 45min, but tonight was under 15min. Upon bringing my order I asked her for another drink...which never happened...I finished my meal with no drink whatsoever...as she served 17 other drinks to old and new patrons. I went to bar pissed off and stood waiting almost 5min until the guy finally asked if she "had me." I said I needed my tab. The gal took over the transaction and asked if I wanted the other drink...I said "not now." She told me she forgot...which I have hard time believing as I was alone at a table 5ft from her person, and made eye contact several times. I will sooner drive 5miles to Applebees where at least they ask you if you want a drink, or want food, or anything else. It almost felt discriminatory how rudely I was treated over these last three visits, but it's no matter now. I will NEVER patronize this rude establishment EVER again! And I will be sure to share my story with all my neighbors since we live 3 blocks away.

I popped into this nice little Neighborhood Bar and Grill on a Tuesday around 1:00PM after doing some business around the northern burbs of Minneapolis. I am very pleased to announce that I will definitely be stopping again. I dined on the Special of the Day which was Meatloaf served with corn, mashed potatoes and a fresh dinner roll. I rate the meal as A#1 and also the lovely little lady named Morgan who served it to me with her Million Dollar Smile......See You Soon I Hope!

This is a good place to grab some food and watch the game. They have a full bar and several big screen tvs. The food is pretty good and a step above your basic bar food. Try one of the omelettes if you are there for brunch. The bloody was a snooze. Overall, a decent experience and good addition to Camden.
