In the year 2000 I lived in Rome, Italy for 6 months and ever since will go out of my way to find truly authentic Italian cooking. But finding "truly authentic Italian cooking" is a bit of difficult proposition because each region of Italy does something different. For instance, in Lazio (the region Rome is located), they do not traditionally make tomato-based sauces to go with pasta unlike Tuscany and Perugia. So it is more common that when you out for Italian, you end us getting an amalgametion of "Italian". Nonetheless, Italian does not have to be expensive or extravagant, if anything, the best is neither. And while I have been to the Broder's across the street that IS expensive a with a huge menu of excellent dishes, Broders Cucina Italiana is about 3 steps down from that upscale variety of dining. It is set up like an Italian "bar" with a section of olive oils, balsamic vinegars, fresh frozen pasta and a small variety of other grocery items for sale. It also has a deli counter where you can order a handful of fresh made dishes either to eat there (it holds about 18 people max for seating), or more commonly, to go from a large board on the wall listing the days' specialties. It is super inexpensive for great food. What I enjoy the most is getting a family-sized entree to go for those nights when you don't want to cook, but also don't feel like getting out....they have those too, priced for a family of four with a loaf of bread, salad and dessert included in the price of the meal. Excellent. Tip, turn the corner on Penn Ave and there is a parking lot behind a consignment store that you can park in and enter the restaurant from the back - much easier than trying to park on 50th St.!

This a great alternative to the big sister restaurant across the street. It won't break your bank account and the service is fast. Deli style ordering, you can take out or eat in. Seating is limited and first come first serve. Our toddler loved the pasta with bolognese sauce. You can order any entree half order for your kid. I had the spaghetti and meatballs. They offer Italian sandwiches and pizza. They lost our ticket and we ended up waiting longer than expected. As an apology, they treated us to 2 free desserts. Even offered free bread sticks for our starving child. Great customer service! Whenever we are short on cash and crave a quick Italian meal, this is our go to place.

Great Italian food in a casual deli setting with reasonable prices. This is about as good as it gets. Finding ourselves pulling on the locked doors at Broder's Pasta Bar, we were disappointed to learn that Broder's "Pasta Bar" is only open for dinner. Our disappointment soon changed to excitement when we realized Broder's "Cucina Italiana" is right across the street. According to Yelpers, this is essentially the same food served in a more casual atmosphere. The whole restaurant has a deli feel. The menu is written on the wall, and you order fast casual style at the register and take a number. We went with the Fettuccinne Bolognese and a side of bruschetta. Both were so good. Like the staple of any great Italian place, you can taste the freshness of the ingredients and the solid fundamentals used in preparation. I've had $30 pasta plates that didn't hold a candle to this little $8 entree. Awesome spot, and I can't wait to go back.

I miss living just blocks away from Broders "deli" (as I & many others call it). Whenever I didn't know what to do with dinner but I didn't want to go out to a "restaurant" Broders deli was my answer. It's a small drive nowadays, but I still make my way here from time to time, because, well...I'm obsessed. In true deli form, Broders has a small grocery section filled with authentic Italian items along with fresh pasta, sauce, desserts, etc. that they make in house. They also have a big glass case filled with meats, pasta salads, pizza, etc. Gotta love an Italian deli glass case! You can also order from their delicious menu boards that occupy the wall for either to-go or dine in. Their small dining section is unpretentious and always clean. They also have some adorable adirondack chairs in front - perfect for splitting pizza & a bottle of wine with your love when the weather allows. Yes, they offer beer & wine :) Their menu is the perfect deli version of the Pasta Bar across the street - offering many of the same type of dishes, but a less expensive slightly tweaked version (but just as delicious!). Some of my personal favorites include Spaghetti & Meatballs, Fettuccine Bolognese, any pizza, house salad, Fusilli alla Rosticiada, and these almond little dessert bites they often have in the dessert case by the register. Oh! And don't forget a breadstick! And grab some to-go Pesto sauce - my ultimate fav! Enjoy!

Just so everyone knows, this review is 3 1/2 stars. My last experience was almost good enough to be four stars, but just not quite. First off and this justifies a half star off, they didn't take AMEX. WTF?! I can understand some mom and pop places not taking AMEX, but yuppy places in SW Minneapolis need to get with the program. They had fifty dollar bottles of olive oil on the wall. Newsflash Broder's, us SW folks like to use AMEX, especially when it's on expensive yuppy crap like $50 dollar olive oil. I hadn't been here for a while, but this just shocked me. Really Broder's? Get with the program. Even though I love your pizza, I can guarantee that I will be coming back less often as a result of this egregious situation. We're yuppies damn it! Let us use our yuppy cards! Anyway, enough with the Dennis Miller rant. I just can't believe it when high priced joints don't take AMEX. It's like if I went to RF Moeller and wanted to spend a bunch of money only to find out that they don't take AMEX. That would never happen because, usually, proprietors in these type of establishments in this neighborhood have a clue Okay, now on to the food. The pizza, usually, rocks. The crust is amazing. This really is like New York pizza. The only time, at least in Minneapolis, that I can say that. The sausage pizza, with homemade sausage, is by far my favorite. I'm a pizza whore, and, if I could only have one type of pizza for the rest of my life, it would be the Broder's sausage pizza. I, also, tried a special pizza of the day. It was some type of eggplant pizza with caramelized onions. It was gross. Like Devine being naked gross. It was sweet and tasted weird. I ate half of that turd. One star reduced for that disgrace. So, overall, this place is really good. Their pizza if the stuff of legend, and the only New York pizza in Minneapolis worth talking about. Note to management: If you have expensive, overpriced, yuppy crap, you might want to let us use AMEX. It's how we roll in SW. And, we're not impressed that you take Discover. Discover is the least used CC in the US, right behind Diner's Club-a card I thought only old geezers used in the 90s.

Ordered the pasta of the day thinking it's a safe choice- egg noodles with chicken, spinach and red peppers. Sounds good. It was delivered to me in a fast fashion and the smell of it was even edible with yummy fragrant. Then I noticed there are no red peppers in my pasta, that's like one out of the three ingredient missing. I enjoyed the texture of the homemade egg noodle, but the chicken was dry and overall a little disappointing. The Tiramisu ($4) though was delicious in perfectly sized portion not for sharing. Street parking small seating area. Good for solo diners or to go. Perhaps next time I will find a random friend and eat across the street.

3 Words. South Jersey Hoagie. Need I say more? Just get it on a baguette. Not focaccia. I like mine with a little mayo. And a Fulton.

I love Italian food. I grew up around off the boat Italians in N.Y.C. One of the beautiful things about Italian food food is to take simple inexpensive ingredients and make something wonderful with it. Broder's is anything but inexpensive. They get the one star rating because they're prices are insane. I poped in here with my wife one afternoon to grab something for lunch. First off I wasn't super impressed with their sandwiches. I felt they were quite skimpy. Usually my wife and I can split a sandwich back in New York because the meat is piled on generously. Not so here. Secondly the prices! Antipasto $20.00 lb. !!! I'm sorry how much? You can buy grass fed sirloin steak at wholefoods for $19.99 lb. which one do you think I'll chose. I mean its just olives, cheese, salami, and peppers. Those are not expensive ingredients. Next roasted cauliflower with tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette for $16.00 lb. ???Honestly I have know idea how they get away with these prices, but they are really up themselves. I will sadly not be going back.

Hidden gem in south Minneapolis. There are a bunch of good restaurants around here but this ranks among the top. Definitely a quaint little spot boasting Italian character. Fresh biscotti and canolli for purchase at the counter, but the pasta is delicious! I had the sausage with peppers. The spicy Italian sausage was flavorful and the peppers/onions worked very well with the Pomodoro sauce, a red sauce draped over the dish. They also make all of their food scraps into pig feed, great recycling initiative!! Next time would definitely get some dessert but we were stuffed!

One of Minnesota's finest! This is a great deli style cafeteria, I love the Pan Bagna (tuna sandwich), the Tachinno (turkey sandwich) and the pasta's are always delicious. You can also get pizza and salads. There is a wide variety of selections and the service is always fast. And to top it all off you can pick up some supplies at the built in grocery section. Check them out!!

We LOVE this place. It is our go-to takeout and quick meal hotspot. The food is good, quick, and reasonably priced. Pizza, pasta, or sandwiches...you can't go wrong! Faves: - Roasted Eggplant with Goat Cheese pizza - South Jersey Hoagie (on focaccia) - Grilled Chicken sandwich (focaccia or baguette) - Fettuccine Bolognese with salad and bread Take-out is quick and easy, $15 minimum on deliveries, limited but typically available indoor seating, no AMEX.

Good place for a casual date night during the week. This is a counter service, so the food is quick and there are a lot of pre made salads and pizzas ready to go. I ordered the penne Gorgonzola - penne with a rich, creamy sauce with spinach. My bf ordered the chicken parm which was much smaller than his appetite called for as a pre hockey game dinner! I ended up grabbing a broccoli pizza slice and roasted veggies to tame the beast! The food was all good-fresh, hot, and tasty. Only watch out is portion sizes are pretty small so order accordingly! Very family friendly for a quick bite!

Arguably the best to-go place in MPLS! When you are in the mood for take out but can't decide on what, go to Broders Cucina Italiana. You order deli-style either off the menu or out of the displayed cooler in front of you, while tasting whatever delicious samples they have set out for your enjoyment. I always leave with a slice of freshly made pizza and a side salad or pasta as well as an extra, to-go, for lunch the following day. The prosciutto and arugula pizza is a fave along with the caprese salad. If you really can't wait to eat it, there is a small dining area overlooking 50th St. (NBD). Also, get a mini beer while you wait - genius! The flip side within the Cucina Italiana is the store. Raw, home made pasta, bread and candy line the shelves and coolers along with imported counterparts including balsamic vinegar bottles in any shape and size. They also have a good selection of trinkets and kitchen tools. If I were a rich man, I would shop here often (it is not overly pricey, I would just spend a lot)! Service is always great and employees are very knowledgable! Looking forward to the next time I get back for a tasty treat!

Handmade everything. Authentic. Real. Good. Hungry for a slice of Za bigger than you're face? Good, buy one here. Looking to impress the in-laws. Good, but some pasta, sauces and oils here - it'll work.

When it comes to quick casual Italian, nothing beats Broder's Pasta Bar deli across the street. Experience huge slices of pizza served by the slice, assortment of pasta salads and other sides like risotto cakes or Brussels sprouts. They offer hot and cold sandwiches and homemade pasta entrees of course. My favorite indulgence: the Gorgonzola penne. The yummy soft bread served across the street is also here; for an extra $2.25 you can bread and a salad to your pasta entree. Entrees range from $6.50-$9.995. I have to work hard to not give in more and raid the dessert case of pumpkin cheesecake, tiramisu or chocolate cookie offerings. The cucina also sells Broder's pasta, sauces and other ingredients to try your own hand creating your Broder's special. If you don't have time to wait for Broder's or need quick family take out, I recommend coming here. You'll be more than satisfied.

After seeing a re-run of Diners, Drive-ins & Dives on Food Network this week, I realized that I must have missed the episode featuring Broder's. I feel ashamed to admit that I didn't even know it existed before that moment... But, it didn't take me long to check it out. I must first say that Broder's is actually two establishments--I am reviewing the smaller, more casual establishment. They also have a pasta bar which is more formal (it is, literally, across the street). It definitely has that casual atmosphere that you might find at a coffee shop or deli, and for those who want a quick bite to eat and still get that high quality Italian fare--this is the right place I almost feel like it is Minneapolis' version of Cossetta's, but on a smaller scale. They have a little marketplace area with various Italian goods, a pastry case, a selection of meats/cheeses, and an array of hot dishes. Also, as a bonus, they have their own parking lot and rear entrance. I was particularly impressed with the value. My brother and I shared two slices of pizza, eggplant Parmesan, spaghetti with red sauce, and the zucchini risotta cakes. All this came to around $15 (I forget exactly). The proscuitto & arugula pizza (featured on Food Network) was $3.50 per slice, and worth every penny. Aside from my love for Pizzeria Lola, this has to be my favorite slice in the Cities. The quality of the food was outstanding for the price and it is pretty much ready within 5 minutes of ordering as they must only heat up your selected dishes. As I mentioned, the food quality was very high. Aside from the pizza, I really enjoyed the lemon aioli that accompanied the zucchini risotto cakes. The red sauce for the pasta was bright and fresh--the acidity of the tomatoes really came through. My only minor complaint was with the eggplant which seemed to carry a little bit of a burnt taste. I dont think it was burnt, but it must have acquired the flavor from whatever they heated it up in/on. I should have tried the cannolis too... But that was my personal error. Overall, this place is definitely a winner and Ill be back without question. I dunno if I would go as far to say that the pizza is better than anyplace in NYC as certain Food Network personalities suggested, but it is definitely an outstanding place for a casual Italian lunch or slice of foldable pizza pie goodness. Pros: value, excellent food, rear parking lot, casual atmosphere, Italian goods/pastries, proscuitto/arugula pizza Cons: Burnt flavor on the eggplant Parmesan, parking lot (while greatly appreciated) is a little hard to maneuver and limited to 30 minutes

Stopped by this location right after eating across the street at the pasta bar. The goal was a quick dessert and it did not disappoint. I had a tiramisu and one small ricotta cannoli. Both we're authenticate and delightful. Having eaten both many times in Italy I'm pretty picky about things like This, The tiramisu was moist and not dry. Every bite had great flavor and the cannoli was not mushy or bland but pretty much what im used to in Italy. It's not common for me to find such things in VA where I was visiting from. I would love to come back here for a full meal. Hopefully I will next year.

Pretty sure I've been under a rock since moving to the metro because I just heard about this place. There are just a couple of things to say. 1.) it is delicious; 2.) it is very reasonably priced; and 3.) I live 40 minutes away and have been there twice in one week. Parking is always an issue for me. Because I live in the south, I hate paying for parking since I'm so accustomed to free parking. At Broder's, I have been able to score parking spots about a block away- for FREE!! When you walk into this cute little deli, there is a counter directly in front of you where you pay after ordering or just to get a drink. On my first visit, we had the two specials listed- a mushroom and asparagus risotto and some artichoke fettuccine pasta. I can really only speak for the risotto. Now imagine layers of mushrooms, creamy risotto, caramelized onions and fresh asparagus topped with some very high quality Parmesan cheese. My partner had the artichoke pasta and said that it was very fresh and good. On the second visit I had their Prosciutto and arugula pizza. It is chewy and crunchy and fresh. And wicked cheap (in my book). Any time two people can eat good food with a carafe of wine for less than $40, I consider it a steal. I'm anxious to try the Broder's across the street, it has a cute little patio area that looks very inviting!

Great neighborhood Italian diner! My wife and I stopped here for lunch and both of us were very happy with our pasta and the prices are very reasonable. I also gave my parents a gift card last Christmas that they used and fell in love with this diner. It is on my list to visit the next time I am in the area. Yum!

Hands down the best pizza in Minnesota. Frequently, I've heard that the commercialized St.Paul Italian restaurant named Cossetta's produces a worthy piece of pie but that simply isn't so comparatively speaking. If you love New York style pizza made with love this place is for you. I recommend the Prosciutto and Arugula pizza and don't forget about the classic sausage pizza. Additionally, the homemade pasta and the wonderful assortment of fine deli meats is a must.

My wife is from the east coast, and this is one of the only pizzas she'll touch in the cities. It seems like every other weekend we're wishing we lived closer so we could swing in and pick up a pie. Great food, and a great street-corner atmosphere!

I love this place. it's an adorable Italian market and a great spot for lunch or a casual dinner. I come here every Christmas for a pantetone. Small selection of imported Italian goodies too, including the best bakery cookies. There's a large selection of prepared foods as well, along with pizza by the slice (a rarity in the Cities), and a good sandwich/pasta menu which is great for take-out. Love it!

Broders is as good as it gets. There is the main restaurant and then the smaller cafe style place across the street both by the same name. We tend to grab a light weekend lunch at the cafe one, and take it to the nearby Lake Harriet for great views. The main restaurant is always wonderful when you can get it, but because of its popularity, they don't accept reservations, and that can be tricky if you're going with a group, or are super hungry. It is certainly worth the wait, however.

Solid Italian. Very upscale and cool lay-out of the restaraunt but a very small parking lot, alothough I suppose you can park on the street. I had the Gnochi which was very flavorful, although for the price I thought the portion was quite small. It was the same portion size for my dinner partner who had the pasta bolognese, which I was able to get a side sample. I understand the bolognese is their signature dish, but I didn't think it was 5 star. It was a little dry for my taste but the pasta was very fresh. Overall, I would try re-visit if I am in the area again.

I've eaten at Broders Pasta Bar a few times, and I have always been impressed. Last week, I finally made it across the street to Broders Cucina Italiana for some takeout. A friend recently had a baby and I wanted to bring her some lunch to celebrate and meet the munchkin. You order your food cafeteria style and the menu is posted on the wall. There is a small seating area and you can order pretty much anything from sandwiches to pasta. We both ordered their cold caprese sandwich and it was phenomenal. I wasn't sure I would like it because I'm not usually one for raw tomatoes. This sandwich had all of the great flavors of caprese with fresh mozzarella, basil and tomato plus a drizzle of olive oil on french bread and just the right amount of salt. I would definitely recommend this sandwich and it is a pretty big portion, so you could always share and order with a salad. I couldn't pass up on dessert and purchased a rhubarb bar and lemon pistachio bar. Both were tasty, nothing out of the ordinary, but good none the less!

We have patronized Broders since its inception. The food is always of high quality but can be expensive. In particular, the daily pasta specials seem expensive for what you get. Pizza and fresh pasta and sauces from the deli are always good. The deli has lots of additional Italian goodies as well. We have had them cater some events which were very well done. It can be very crowded a lunch and occasionally the behind the counter staff can sometimes be a little impatient if you take a few moments to make up your mind. All in all, however, I am a regular and highly recommend.

I'm going to give this place 5 stars because I feel like its overall rating needs to be bumped up a bit. It is such a gem and needs to be recognized as such. Although it's small, it's packed with all the most wonderful treats imported from Italy and New York. It feels really special because everything is so authentic. The staff is quite friendly and they know about the products in their store. They also usually have little samples of their product for people to try, which is fun. Can't complain about free samples! I had been here before to buy a gift basket for someone, but had never eaten more than their breadsticks on the go (which, by the way, are amazing breadsticks). Today, I went with a friend for lunch. The seating area was pretty full, but we were able to get a table for two nonetheless. Lots of mothers out with their young children, and businessmen going out for lunch. I had the chicken sandwich, which was the best chicken sandwich I think I have ever had. It didn't even have that much chicken on it! If it did, it wouldn't have been the same. What made the sandwich so flavorful was the small amounts of pesto and cheese, partnered with the perfect little piece of chicken and mixed greens. I had it on toasted baguette, which was clearly baked that morning. To die for. My friend had a stromboli. I didn't get to taste it, but it looked amazing. They cut it into more manageable pieces for her, too, so the insides didn't drip everywhere when she bit into it. (That was a weird thing to comment on, but I thought it was a nice gesture.) All I know is that this is the best place ever and I am so going back... once I have crossed more places off of my "To Try" list... But seriously... Hope I don't have to wait too long!

I'm not really one to drive across town for food. Most of my Yelp stops are a result of convenience, which is why I was so pumped to land a meeting in this neighborhood. What better way to wrap a day's work than getting a slice and a cannoli? Yeah I couldn't find a better way either. I've had the pizza before at a friend's place and heard this was the spot for cannolis in town. Ever since it's been on my radar. Pulled up 30 mins before closing, walked in, and immediately taken by how charming the little shop was. Ordered a slice of pep and a chocolate cannoli since the original was out. The pizza was exactly what I was hoping for, five stars easy. It reminded of a NY slice; big and cheese perfected. Finished up quickly and was SO excited for my dessert... Maaaaan, I was terribly disappointed. I was anticipating the crunch from the shell and the density of the cream filling. Neither were up to par. And it was tiny, like bite size. Granted it was the "special" flavor but, regardless, I'm going to have to keep searching for the best in town. I've had the best in NY and have been looking for a distant relative here in MN, but to no avail. PS - I think this would be a great casual date spot. The location is enchanting and any girl that can gnosh on some 'za is a keeper.

I had my daughter and her husband and my 5 grandkids over for lunch. I called on Broders 2 large pizzas, stuffed red peppers and some pepper shooters. The kind staff put together a bag with strong paper plates, and napkins. The food was beyond excellent and the kids loved everything. What a great place and what a great thoughtful staff. Thanks a million!

I will preface this review by stating up front that I am a long time fan of Cossetta's in St. Paul. Having said that I went to Broders Cucina to try to raise some money for the Fulton Farmers Market, since Broders was donating 15% of their take for the day to the market. I got take out - some slices of lasagna and a pasta salad. The salad was the farfalle con pesto. The lasagna was one slice of spinach and one with sausage. The lasagna was packed in a flat cardboard container with some tissue/wax paper between the slices as well as two small containers of red sauce. There were no directions for reheating the lasagna, nor directions for what to do with the sauce. I used my experience with Cossetta's market lasagna to guide me on this task. I started the oven at 400, but turned it down to 300 after the lasagna was in the oven. I reserved the sauce to pour over the slices after they came out of the oven. The sausage slice was fair, the spinach was slightly better. The sauce saved both of them and lifted them both up a bit. The lasagnas were beautifully layered but there were too many layers - the thick pasta deadened the other ingredients. The farfalle salad was nothing special - none of the ingredients called out to me, though I really wish the pesto would have. I wish I could give a better, more positive review, but how do you send someone home with a dish that needs to be reheated but no directions on how to do it? And the farfalle pasta salad is the first salad listed on their website, I expected it to be better. The food was not inedible, but I will probably still spend the extra gas money to cross the river.

I am a huge fan of all things Broders. At the Cucina specifically I have eaten in, done takeout, and ordered catering. Takeout - The main things I grab for takeout are the flatbread and the fresh pasta (cut to order). They both always work in well to dinners at home. The herb marscapone is really good with the flatbread as well. Eating in - They have numerous pasta dishes, pizza, deli salads, and fresh salads to choose from. This is a great choice if you want Broders deliciousness but the Pasta Bar is too long of a wait or you are on a budget. I especially love stopping by for lunch after shopping at 50th and France. My most recent favorite is the mac and cheese. It is actually penne but the bechamel sauce is to die for. Catering - About 3 years ago, my husband and I decided to go with Broders for the appetizers at our wedding. They were truly a hit! It was also really easy to coordinate everything. I would do it again in heartbeat! Don't miss out on this Italian delight!

Nice place, but they need to kick up their pizza. We had a couple of slices on our way home from the movies this afternoon - I would recommend someone from this place go to Punch and get an idea about what pizza can be.

The inconspicuous Broders cucina is my go to stop for casual Saturday lunches, great take out, and authentic Italian ingredients. Immediately upon entering, it is obvious this place doesn't mess around with subpar ingredients. The Italian store section offers a variety of high quality Italian dry ingredients, homemade broders prepared goods, and even some Italian cooking tools (i.e. pasta rollers), all imported from Italy, of course. Next, the Deli offers a variety of prepared pasta salads, and pizza by the slice, sandwiches, and pastas to order. First, choosing a favorite food item at Broder's is like a mother choosing her favorite child - although it's a difficult and hard to admit, usually one in the pack takes the prized favorite title. For me, it's the Prosciutto and Arugula pizza. The salty, tender prosciutto pairs nicely with spicy, crisp arugula, all of the most perfect crust one could imagine. The toothsome, paper thin crust finds the right balance between delicately chewy and scrumptiously crisp. In addition to loving all the pizzas, their chicken parmesan sandwich is also fantastic. The lightly fried chicken is emerged in a river of perfectly seasoned pomodoro sauce, blanketed by gooey provolone cheese, and placed in the middle of crust, yet chewy French banquette. Honestly Italian food heaven! My only caution to anyone dining at Broder's is that their "housemade" fresh fettuccine appears to be made in an industrial contraption, and lacks the "love" of traditional hand made fresh pasta. All in all, I really love everything about Broders Cucina! I highly recommend it for anyone who loves Italian food!

Best Pizza that we have tried in MInneapolis hands down. Thin Crust, not too crunchy not too soft, topped with your choice of toppings. We've tried so many kinds, but always go back to the onion, bacon, and pepperoni combo. I feel like most people aren't aware how amazing their pizza is (on top of everything else they have going for them) so it's really a gem that we found them just down the street from us. Typically, when you think of Minneapolis Pizza you think of Punch, Pizza Luce, Black Sheep and we are grateful for our friends who recommended this place because now we wouldn't ever try another place again.

Whether we ordered in advance and took it home or went and ate there as a family, I always enjoyed the food at Broders. The pizza was huge with a thin n chewy (but not too chewy) crust and it always had this lighter, zestier pizza sauce than you normally find these days. Never a shortage of cheese on these monsters either! My real joy at Broders, however, came in the form of their meat stromboli. I couldn't possibly count the number of times I had it after baseball games or in celebration of meat and cheese... Basically, it was a meat and cheese and pepper pizza folded over and over into what could probably be best understood as an amazing delicious homemade oversided hot pocket. I love it to this day, and tears form just thinking about the smells and tastes and elevated blood pressures... I feel like there was really good biscotti here too... but my memory of such things has grown hazy... Great location too, right by a place that no longer exists that used to have the best croissants everrrrr.... helpful...

This is Broders amazing east coast gangster brother. They have a full deli, pizza by the slice, pastas to go and peroni on tap. We got the meatball sub, a slice of cheese, a pint of pasta salad and a piece of lemon cake. Every single thing was amazing beyond belief. The sub was on home-made in house bread, with home-made in house sauce, smothering home-made in house meatballs the size of racket balls. The 'za was new york style, again with the home-made in house themed everything and fantastico! The pasta salad had fresh arugula, prosciutto, blu cheese and olive oil. The pasta was fresh and cooked perfectly (it was still firm and chewy) The only thing I regret was that we didn't get 2 pints! The lemon cake was super decadent, fluffy, rich, whipped frosting with bright, candied lemon zest to add extra zing! The service was helpful, energetic and extremely polite. As for an overall experience; it was fun, entertaining and delicious! Broders Cucina Italiana exceeds all expectations!

SUPER CUTE, Great selection. I thought the Linguini Bolognese was really good and the pasta was even homemade, but the meatballs and chicken parm were only so-so in my opinion. AMAZING cookies, get the pignoli cookies! The salads were all delish as well. Finally, they were super helpful and patient when I was buying take out and wasn't sure what to get for a friend who just had a baby.

To clarify first, there's Broders' Pasta Bar on the south side of 50th, which is a sit-down restaurant (wonderful, by the way). Then there's this place: Broders' Cucina Italiana is on the north side of 50th, which is a casual, counter-style cafe and grocery store. At the Cucina, you walk in and are surrounded by imported groceries in the retail area. It's not a large place, but they've got everything from olive oil to sweets. And moving on to the cafe side... it is more of a takeout spot, but there is a small seating area too. You'll find pizza by the slice (I had a delicious prosciutto and arugula yesterday), a case full of pre-made salads and other goodies (I ordered a little caprese to go with my pizza---I can only imagine how good this will be come tomato season), plus a whole menu of items that take a little longer for them to whip up and bring out to you. They also sell fresh uncooked pasta for the chefs at home and there are a lot of options if you're entertaining. The bathrooms are through the kitchen and down in the basement, which is not the most ideal. I'll take it though, if it means I can get a gourmet meal from Broders without having to save up for a special occasion like I do with the Pasta Bar.

If I could live here i just might. You walk in and are confronted wioth so many tantalizing food choices that you can't think straight. All the best thoughts of what you "knew" you were stopping for just vanished. There is not one single thing that I have had here that I did not like and the convenience and speed of stopping in a nd getting it to go is awesome. The sausage pizza has a special place in my heart as do a number of the specials of the day.

Every single time I have tried to go to Broders Pasta Bar without reservations, it has been a 2hr wait and I've ended up at the Cucina. Clearly both are doing something right. The Cucina is directly across the street from the Pasta Bar on 50th Street. It has a small Italian food store area and lots of delicious Italian food - from pizza to pasta to chicken parm to subs. In the store, my favorites are the focaccia and homemade pesto. The hot food service is great and there is a small seating area to enjoy it there. Most entrees come in meal, entree or family size. Food is served quickly by a friendly and competent staff. I loved that the chicken parm wasn't just breaded and deep fried. It had a lot of quality parm and tasted baked, not fried. The Mister loved the bolognese sauce and it had clearly been cooking all day. The salads that came with our meal were lightly dressed, unlike what you get at a lot of places. Prices are very reasonable and if you come off-peak, it's easy to get a seat and linger over your meal.

This is a small, expensive, but very well stocked Italian market within walking distance. Often, I let the Cucina feed me a Pan Bagna (NOM!) but just as often I want to feed myself. This is a great little trove which lets you throw together some decent Italian fare at home...for a price. Nothing is cheap here, but nothing is priced to insanity for what it is. I do know that sometimes I can do better than what's behind the counter, which goes from the sublime to the ho-hum and back. If you've never had a decent cannoli, here is one of the few OK ones available to you. but I prefer the Pan Bagna (if you like olive oil steeped tuna that tastes like tuna) the South Jersey, and I will crunch on the Fulton Flatbread, and vacuum up a parm breadstick now and then. Nice little Italian candy offerings, including individually wrapped so you can be very very good mostly! Salads are OK - if you have veggies at home, better to get some good add ons and a bit of cheese and DIY. This is a nice DIY spot. It's like the Linden Hills Yarn of food, small, but it's got you covered.

This place is a GEM! Excellent flat bread so you can make your own creation at home. They have lots of hearty choices at the deli counter, plenty of sweet treats at the coffee bar and COFFEE! Quiet, quaint. Nice for a little afternoon pit stop in South Minneapolis.

The people behind Broders are genius'. They are just smart. They offered a 3 course TAKEOUT meal-with bread- for $40 per couple on Valentine's Day. How perfect is that? It took my boyfriend ten min. to leave our house, get the food, head home, and begin to dine. All I had to do was open the wine. Awesome. The menu included a big salad, two portions of oh so creamy, stocked with shrimp and calamari. seafood risotto, foccacia bread and tiramasu. We got all that in the comfort of our own home for a romantic Valentine's night. Brava Broders.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
