Sometimes looks can be deceiving which is the case of the very aesthetically displeasing but tastefully pleasing Best Steak House in south Minneapolis. Located 2 blocks off of 35w, the steaks are very reasonable with decent flavor served with a nice simple iceberg salad and buttery Texas toast. Its a very simple place for a quick steak without the frills and price of a Manny's but good as Outback. Simple Steak & baked potato

Ok this is not a place for a date or to impress someone.... But it is awesome for what it is. Needed a bite while helping a friend out fixing basement, did not want burger or fast food, so he recommended this place. Good quality, homemade no frills food. Had the gyro and chips and it was great, and cost less that a mc Donald's meal, which we all know is total rubbish. I will go again and take a date or perhaps the wife as that's more sensible - good food nice owners totally chilled and low key.

With rock-bottom prices and a website that doesn't show their street address, I was skeptical that Best Steak House could deliver a decent lunch. No disappointment. This isn't your hip, just got a job in downtown and want to impress Kelly Kopowski type of steakhouse. It's just a good place to go with your buddies for lunch or for a good meal before a game. The 8oz sirloin was thin, but cooked nicely. Sides were great and the portion size didn't lower my afternoon productivity at work. I'll be back at Best Steak House again soon with everyone I'm not trying to impress at work.

The Texas Toast here is the best, steak is good too although for how reasonable the prices are here it's great. Every week there is a different daily 'Manager Special' that includes steak, baked potato, Texas Toast, and a salad for under $10.00. The meat here is just as good as many of the more expensive options that are around, and unlike places that are a little closer to the center of the city parking here isn't a hassle. As far as I can tell this place is operated by a couple Greek guys. They have an accent and there are photos of Greece everywhere on the walls, very friendly service. The layout reminds me alot of a 1960's or 1970's era cafeteria, not super stylish but by no means an unpleasant or run down atmosphere. Besides, if they did too much updating the prices would probably be alot higher, and for the most part it is those prices that bring me here.

I agree with Tim K. -- this place is no-frills. I'll be honest that I initially pre-judged Best Steak House by its name and non-descript appearance. But, it's just a few blocks away from my house which makes it very convenient when I don't want to cook dinner (or spend $$ at Wise Acre Eatery). Best Steak House reminds me of the cafe I worked at in high school in my small southern Minnesota town. Burgers, steaks, chicken, fries, onion rings, etc. The atmosphere is quiet, blue-collar, and friendly. Nothin' fancy, but a good neighborhood spot to grab a cheeseburger and fries or an affordable steak dinner.

I agree with Elaine, this is a no-frills place for a good steak on a budget. I've found the atmosphere to be charming, no pretenses to be found and what you see is what you get. The place is filled (but not packed) with a variety of every day "meat and potatoes" hard working people (read: lack of hipsters), and like most of Minnesota pretty friendly! If you're having a day where you want some tasty food without spending a longer time getting ready than eating, Best Steak House may be your "best" bet!
