Food was good. Steaks and prime rib are hard to beat. I wouldn't drive from MSP but certainly worth going to if you live in the area. Certainly is old school. I was shocked at how many people were in the building. Actually I was shocked at how large the building was for the size of the town. The town was charming. I got the feeling that people came from all over the area on Saturday night. I will go back.
So, I grew up in kasson and The Hubble House was always considered a place for special occasions. My family and I decided to go for a long over due family lunch while I was visiting home from Colorado. In 5/31 we went at about 12:30, we all had separate entrées but shared an onion ring appetizer. I actually sent my food (BBQ ribs and chicken strips) back and asked them to take it off our bill because they tasted bad and had a odd texture. I had an upset stomach and didn't eat anything else for the rest of the evening. By midnight myself and my mother were both up vomiting and one of my two brothers started throwing up at 3 am, my second brother made it until the next morning but he also started throwing up eventually. We've all had horrible diarrhea and this knocked out the ENTIRE family for the day. While it could have been a lot worse (my 1 year old son spit his two tiny bites of onion ring out) this was the most horrible experience. I remember when The Hubble was a special place for celebration. Not anymore. The food is bland, tasteless and apparently unclean. Unfortunately, they are closed on Mondays so we have to wait until tomorrow but I will be filing a complaint with food safety. It's not okay that our entire family is sick and thus is my vacation time. Lovely. We will NEVER stop foot in this restaurant again. It's a ghost of the former buisness and WAY over priced for the food quality.
What a beautiul spot, off the beaten path. The ambiance is worth the visit. The dining room is full of eye candy for the lover of antiques, historical artifacts. I ordered the New York Strip and it was cooked to perfection. The service was just okay but maybe the server was just having an off day. I will definitely go back to enjoy a great meal and to learn more about the history of this landmark.

The food was good, but not exceptional, the service was OK. we went for lunch late to be out of the rush. When we arrived ( about 1:00) it was nearly empty.. After waiting nearly a 1/2 an hour the waitress came and said the food would arrive momentarily, as the were backed up in the kitchen. We were very disappointed, after hearing so much about the the place, I guess they live on History and ambiance.
Definitely worth the short drive from Rochester. Cannot go wrong with the menu. Steaks are great. Seafood is great. Service is excellent.
Located in historic Mantorville Minnesota, about halfway between Rochester and Owatonna, the Hubbell House is an old school supper club serving hearty meat and potatoes meals. The food isn't fancy, it's just stick to your bones good. I would recommend this place for a quick summer weekend get away. There are a couple cool antique shops and an old fashioned chocolate shop in town, and it's just over an hour south of the Twin Cities. The interior of the restaurant reminded me somewhat of the old Forepaugh's in Irving Park. There are several dining rooms, and several long antique dining tables perfect for large groups. I had the the walleye with wild rice and it was delicious. It was a substantial fillet of fish that left me good and full. It comes with a side, I got the baked potato and your choice of salad, soup or fresh fruit. The salad was one of the more cool crisp and refreshing salads I've had. Our group shared a couple orders of onion rings before the meal arrived. They were greasy, but crisp, all around great. They also bring fluffy baked bread and garlic buttered toasted bread to the table before the food arrives. Both were excellent, I was honestly full from the salad, bread and appetizer alone.
