If you eat with your eyes this isn't the place for you. It is pretty plain on the outside and in. Kind of reminded me of a meat market when I walked in. I ordered the shrimp lo mein to takeout. The food itself was not bad but it didn't blow my mind. If it wasnt for the fact they added mushrooms and broccoli to it, it would have been your middle of the road food. I'm not a huge veggie guy so that wasn't my favorite thing but to others it might be fine. Its cash only and they charge you 30 cents for chopsticks.

This is a pretty middle of the road place. But I have always had good value with the food. You can eat in, or carry out. Nothing fancy. They try to do a good job for the customer. Cash only. Food is warm, made fresh and for Hastings area pretty good. They have been there for years, and seem to keep on.

There are only a few items I order from here, but the Chicken Egg foo yung is awesome.

I haven't ordered from here since the late 90's. There's a reason for this. My opinion is that there really isn't a decent place for chinese in Hastings. Soggy wontons, dry fried rice, and rubbery sesame chicken: these are all things you'll find here.

Hot and sour soup and aromatic chicken are excellent. Cash only can be inconvenient. I do not recommend the cream cheese wontons.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Chinese food is always so hit and miss but none of us had any complaints, yay! I ordered take-out so dine-in may be very different. Down to the food: Crab Rangoon-Decent size but my SO wasn't happy that they didn't come with sweet and sour. Lemon Chicken- They slice the cutlets which are in extra crispy breading. They put it on a bed of cabbage then smother it in the sauce. I don't like cabbage but I liked that they did it because my chicken wasn't soggy when I got home. Could have used more sauce tho. Spicy Shrimp-Great sauce, lots of veggies. I was expecting more shrimp. In the pint I got maybe...maybe 8 pieces. Pepper Beef w/ Onion-My SO didn't complain so that's always good. Szechuan Beef-Our friend DEVOURED it. Also, the main yelp menu on here is super outdated. Look at the one I posted, lots of info about delivery and such.

I won't order from Fortune Cookie again - it gets worse every time I do! I ordered an assortment of items - The Lo Mein contained only 4 shrimp and was very bland tasting. I've had Shrimp Lo Mein from a St. Paul Chinese restaurant and the difference is night and day! The biggest disappointment was the Shrimp Fried Rice. The rice is so dry, I swear it must be days old. The shrimp is the salad kind - not what I'm used to with Fried Rice. No taste, bland, and so very dry. Unbelievable that a restaurant IN A SMALL TOWN, that used to be good, can continue in business with food that tastes like this. It isn't just my opinion - my husband and son also agreed and I now have to figure out a way to add something to the $7.00 Family sized fried rice I purchased so that we can at least eat it.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
