Pizza Ranch

Good place to stop when you are limited for time. Also, a good option for groups. Tables can be reserved when you phone ahead. Food selection is always good on their buffet. Seldom has our family had over cooked, or under cooked chicken at this restaurant. Reasonable pricing for all the food you can eat when you purchase the noon or evening buffet meal.
good place! lots of different foods, not just pizza!
We went to the Pizza Ranch as our 90 year old grandma raves about, and couldn't wait to take us there. It was great! Great service, and good food. The pizza wasn't amazing, but it was pretty good for a pizza place in Fairmont, MN. Here's where it turns great....my 10 year has found a new love for mushrooms and was sad when he didn't see any pizza with mushrooms. I told him to go ask. He went and asked if they had any with mushrooms. They asked him exactly what he wanted and went and made it fresh, just for him! And then they brought it to the table! Outstanding service makes this place a great place for dinner! 5 stars!

Excellent high end food at a convenient spot for a long journey. This place has a good strategic location, close to the freeway, and on a stretch between other major towns. The decor is modern and clean, with dark woods and black and white photography on the walls. The food would be at home in any swanky downtown area. The salmon cucumber salad was an excellent balance of flavors that was better than the sum of it's parts. The blackjack blue burger (blackened seasoning and blue cheese) was so tasty, I didn't even bother to add condiments. Even the kids fettuccini Alfredo was delicious. With burgers around $8, and entrees around $14, it's well worth the price. If this place was in my home town, I would add it to my list of regular haunts.
Yummy Cobb salad and large portion. Hubby had fish and chips with homemade tartar sauce. Would eat here again!!!
They have a bar, great wine list, wide variety of food from steaks to sandwiches, salad dressings are home-made. Food and service were top notch. Short distance from the interstate very easy access.

Channel Inn

Nice view. Fast friendly service. Food ok, a bit overpriced.
Probably Fairmont's best "burger joint". I love the Channel Burger, a Midwestern favorite variation of a bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg on top. The restaurant is located on a channel connecting two lakes and makes for nice scenery. There is some nice outdoor patio seating for warmer months. You can boat up to the Inn in the summer or snowmobile there during the winter. Parking is scarce and they don't accept debit/credit cards but do provide an ATM. Never had a bad meal here and usually have good service. It's a ways off the beaten path, but well worth it if you like burgers.
Oh the Channel! Ok, seriously folks if you are in Fairmont this is the GO-TO place for a burger. I've also tried the fish and chips and it was delicious. I highly recommend the SS burger with the ONION RINGS - yum. My cholesterol is going up just thinking about it. Hands down best burger place in Southern Minnesota Parking - plentiful and across the street. Atmosphere: small town bar/restaurant sitting right on the lake with a beautiful view. Very popular place with the locals. In the summer you can tie your boat right up to the dock - how conventient is that? Also the outdoor patio in the summer is highly underrated. Fabulous hang out place, all good memories of the years in Fairmont (sigh) Service: Friendly, fast - no complaints. Bar: Where else can you sit and watch most folks drink thier taps with olives swimming up and down like the most awesome beer dream? This is the place I was introduced to adding whole green olives to tap beer (ligher or pils only of course) and now I'm an addict of "olive beer" Nothing beats it on hot summer days! Seriously - highly recommend for a good time and great food!

Arbys

We have eaten here and also used their drive up window many times. All experiences have been good with service. Food is as expected at any Arbys. Only disadvantage this restaurant may have is that it is not located next to Interstate 90 but rather several miles on the southern end of Fairmont. It always seems to have a crowd for noon lunch. Many locals make this their gathering place for coffee as well.

Jake’s Pizza

Reviews:
I've been going to Jake's for over 25 years. I live in Seattle but my family is originally from Fairmont, so we make it back for family reunions. Whenever we come to town, I always have to eat at Jake's at least a couple of times. It really is unlike any pizza I've had anywhere else in the world. Thin, crispy, chewy and delicious. It really is "Minnesota Style" pizza. Sometimes, I consider making the road trip from Seattle to Fairmont just to eat at Jake's. I'd tell everyone I was driving out to visit my relatives, but that's just the facade. I'd be there for those pizzas.
Unfortunately this was probably the worst pizza that I have had so far and I have eaten many pizzas in my life. It was definitely a surprise to me due to all the great reviews this place has. I had ordered the medium thin crust pie with onion, mushrooms, ham, and extra cheese. The mushrooms were not fresh but canned mushrooms. The onion was diced into small square pieces and was practically non existent. There were maybe five small slices of ham on the entire pie and the crust had no flavor. It looked like the pie was thrown in the oven for about five minutes as the cheese was not even fully melted. When it was delivered to my hotel room it was cold. To top it all off it was on the pricey side, I would have been better off getting a frozen pizza in the grocery store.
I have eaten here while traveling at least two times a year for 20 years. They make one of the best thin crust pizza I have had. It is a very good and consistent pizza.

I am satisfied ^^// Service is excellent. Decor is acceptable. Portions are generous. Nicely spiced and prepared cuisine. A short detour off 90 is well worth it.
Very happy with my meal, the portions were very generous, the filet was tender and delicious, definately worth the short sidetrip off the interstate.
Terrible. We went on a Saturday over the lunch hour. Our server was new and didn't know the menu at all when questioned about it (I usually will give someone the benefit of the doubt if they're learning, but this girl was simply unapologetically ditzy). The whole place just seemed like it needed a thorough cleaning, from the dust on the light fixtures and fake silk greenery to carpets with crumbs needing to be swept. Gross. The decor was kitschy clutter from the 80s and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned since then either. The cityscape in the entry was interesting, but was dusty and seem end overshadowed by all the clutter around it. If that's what this restaurant is known for, they're certainly not making the most of it. Our food wasn't hot at all when it arrived, and very bland. My $12 salmon was barely larger than a deck of cards. What a rip-off!! The soup from the salad bar was room temperature, pasta salads were crusted over, and who knows how long things had been sitting out and growing bacteria. Eww. The only reason I'm giving it a two instead of a one is the my father-in-law seemed to enjoy his omelet. This place would be alright for a breakfast menu, maybe. After all, eggs are hard to screw up. Seniors probably like it because its bland... Glorified nursing home food. I personally hope to never go back.
