Ok guys, reading some of these whiny bad reviews is pretty hilarious. Since when do buffets get compared to your favorites little foodie eating joints? Thats just lulz. I think this is one of the better buffets in the TC. Good salad bar, lots of options. Hot food is good, I like eating corn on the cob, chicken, chile, lasagna. One thing I do avoid is the pasta noodles, why do so many places boil them to oblivion? Not a fan of the meat sauce or vegetarian tomato sauce either. Like the ice cream too. Soft serve mmmm. Dairy Queen is king of that, but this stuff aint half bad either. Its a buffet, one of the better ones.

I've been to several of this type of restaurant all over, so I was happy to see a salad buffet to help offset the heavy foods I eat when traveling. The price was a nice change, the drink was included not extra as I am used to. The salad buffet choices were the standard fare, the dressings we the usual suspects. The did identify gluten free items clearly (not my issue but I know it is important to many). The soup bar was sub-par for me, only 4 choices. My local spot has 6 or 8. Only i pasta option an it looked blown out and the sauce looked insipid. They have a "hot bar" which had some chicken, pot roast, potatoes, and corn. They also offered some roasted squash and sweet potatoes. The worst item was a spinach "risotto". It was more like a spinach pilaf that was very watery. I didn't explore dessert options as I had great options at my hotel room already. All in all it is a good place if you want a salad, but i you want much more look elsewhere.

Good food, good price for buffet. Friendly staff. Loved all the gluten-free options

I'm a pescatarian so going to buffets sometimes sucks do to the lack of meatless food. This place is the perfect buffet, I can actually come here and leave full of healthy food. If you're a meat eaters or vegetarian, you'll enjoy it.

Came on Monday with my son and his friend because it's 99 cent kids night. They barely ate anything anyways. I had a giant salad, which was good but nothing special. They standard salad bar fixings but nothing over the top or great, no artichokes, no cun dried tomatoes, no kalamata olives, no squash, etc. The hot food bar was pretty gross looking. Soup was decent. The soft serve was good but not a lot of toppings or other dessert choices. Overall mediocre experience.

We were looking for a really good salad bar and this delivered. Plenty of options : 3 types of lettuce, lots of veggies (all preservative free), seeds/nuts, cheese, many dressing choices including hot bacon and oil/vinegar. There were peppers of all colors, mushrooms, beets, carrots, edamame, garbanzo beans, hard boiled eggs, bacon, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and several cold pasta/potato type salads,...etc. If you are looking for exotic items you won't find them here but there is still plenty to chose from. The bakery section had rolls and bread along with several kinds of soup. Hot food section : I had a piece of rosemary baked chicken that was delicious. I can't speak to the rest of it. The dessert bar had soft serve, jello, fruit and toppings. Considering entree salads are $10-15 at most restaurants, I think $13.25 is reasonable even if you just come for salad. If you are looking for a good salad, you won't be disappointed. If you are wanting more hot food items, you might be? Still worth a trip! Emilio was very attentive to our section, clearing plates and bringing water when we sat down.

Cafeteria food...? We went for the breakfast buffet and for $13.50 each, this was a rip off. Pretty small selection besides the salad bar and everything we ate was dry. There was no cheese in my dry scrambled cheesy eggs. My boyfriend got sausage and they were burnt with a thick shriveled up skin on them. He also had a cinnamon roll and mini chocolate muffin which were both very very dry. We both left disappointed. They should lower their prices if they're going to put out food that is equivalent to a middle school cafeteria's breakfast. I've had better breakfast buffet food at hotels for free. Just sayin. 2 stars because I was surprised that out of the few fountain drinks offered, 3 of them were diet. That's pretty neat I guess.

I love buffets this one is pretty small but has a lot of healthy choice unlike other buffets! I have only been here lunch and dinner and I have always been pleased! big decent salad bar the food is good pretty ordinary buffet but again with healthy choices and it taste like real food! if your not a fan of OCB ( old country buffet ) try this one its not as big or greasy but its good and clean! ehh its okay

We stopped at this place on the way to the airport as I was hoping for something a little lighter before a flight. It is also conveniently located near the freeway not far from MSP Airport. The dining room was large and the whole place smelled clean and fresh. I was impressed at how fresh all the food was and also good quality. I have been to other chain buffets where this was not the case. The service was also fast and friendly. I will definitely stop again.

  • Amee K.

Restaurant, in itself, reminded me of a somewhat higher end OCB but more vegetarian friendly. The food selection was vast but I could tell that some items at the salad bar were not fresh and as a company that is known for their salad bar, this could be looked into. I also enjoyed their hot bar items but was slightly bothered by their mac and cheese. It was spicy but they failed to note that anywhere. Don't get me wrong, I love a little chili in my food but it didn't help that I had a 2 year old there that loved Mac and cheese, but was unable to eat it. Overall, I feel the place deserved the stars that I gave. It was good but not great. And of course, there is always some room for improvement.

It appears clean and neat. Food was undercooked. No meat selections. Dried chicken, uncooked fish. Salad bar had good selection but it was the same at 3 stations. Saw no pork or beef, unsure if that was on purpose.

Its a giant salad bar. The park behind the restaurant is breathtaking, so Q Cumbers is like picnicking in a fancy buffet. There is a hot buffet with chicken, sliced beef, and cooked veggies. However most of the food is lettuce salads and cold pasta and veggie salads. It's expensive for just being simple salads ($13.50 adult). A nice, quick stop, but with so many incredible dining options in the Twin Cities area why settle?

Rachel and I chose a spur of the moment place to try out in Edina. Boasting a vegetarian/ vegan friendly buffet sounded like a perfect place to add to our roster of favorites. With knowledge of the place having an extensive salad bar, we decided to check it out. When we walked in, we were initially in awe over the airy brightly lit restaurant. We were immediately greeted and the price was standard for a buffet. When told to pick a seat, we were confused of the layout, feeling like mice in a maze with seats and divider walls catacombing the place. After we picked a seat, we went to the buffet line and were quickly underwhelmed at the selection. For a salad bar, there was a reasonable variety but if you're looking for a legitimate salad bar restaurant, you're better off walking a little further to Jason's Deli. Picking from 4 types of greens and then a handful of vegetables, you find yourself staring at a huge selection of vinegars with plain black and white labels. I would say the food was bland but hey, its a salad. But when I went to smaller hot dish area, that food would be considered bland. Looking online, there was a list of +30 different kinds of soups we were excited to try at least of few but only met with 4 that day. Soups themselves were really watered down and even separated in a very strange way. Honestly after trying everything, it felt like eating hospital food or something in a nursing home. Considering the decor, it felt like a senior living cafeteria...except I wouldn't advise bringing your grandparents there. Overall we had high hopes for Q. Cumbers. If you're looking to eat an all-you-can eat salad bar, its a good choice. If you're looking to eat a great all-you-can-eat salad bar, Jason's Deli is just kiddy cornered in the parking lot. I'm giving two stars because the atmosphere was decent and everyone was kind. Plus the cookies were amazing but probably store bought. But if reading my review still doesn't change your mind, I say try them out!

I came here with a team from work and it was delicious. The bruschetta soup was really really good, all 6 of us tried it and loved it. My personal favorite was the wild rice mushroom rissotto. I wish they would have had salmon options because i only saw chicken and carnitas, both of which i'm not a big fan of but the wild rice and soup made up for the lack of fish entrees.

This buffet is for someone not looking for a huge meat selection. If you're looking for fresh veggies and sides this is your place. It is a very popular place and parking in the strip mall area can be tight.

  • Denise F.

Great place to go when you want a lot of food but want to eat healthy. The salad bar is worth the price. The soups are really good too, especially the Mexican pork soup (forgot what it's called). The hot food is usually a step above cafeteria food so stick to the fresh stuff.

  • Jenni B.

Qcumbers is hands down the cleanest buffet I've ever been to. I've been here a handful of times and the food has always been fresh and the choices have consistently been plentiful. For $11 it's a little more than I would prefer to spend for lunch, but it's at least undeniably tasty. What I really like about this place is that you can really make your lunch what you want. If you want to eat healthy, there are some fantastic vegetable pickings and tasty vinegarette mix options at the salad bar. If you want to eat comfort food, you can usually find fried chicken and Mac and cheese at the hot bar. I would encourage everyone to save some room for the Jamaican chili, it has a tiny bit of kick but has a cool aftertaste. I love it with a piece of their homemade bread for dipping. Yum! Don't forget the delicious fruit and dessert area, and by don't forget I mean get there quickly before your stomach realizes it's already eaten three ginormous courses. I always get the soft serve with a little drizzle of caramel with some salty peanuts for a nice salty/sweet finish. Then I go back to work and sleep under my desk.

I've never had a bad experience here! The food is great and always fresh, the prices are very reasonable, the table never gets cluttered because the staff clears everything right away. They have gluten free and vegan options also. It's been my favorite for at least 10 years.

    (5)
  • Kade K.

For a salad bar, you'd think "vegetarian" options would be a no brainier. Yet somehow gorging on lettuce and subpar bread while paying the price for the meat saturated entrees is somewhat dissatisfying. Though I truly love lettuce, I can't help but feel ripped off when I pay so much for it. If it was about five dollars cheaper, I'd probably come here weekly.

Best salad bar in town. The kitchen is clean and the restaurant is spotless. The bathrooms are discussing. No one cleans them. It has been this way for 15 years. I've complained before but nothing changes. This is why I give 3 stars. Bonnie, the server, is my favorite person! My sister and I always request her section and she is such a breath of fresh air. She really does an amazing job. We recently returned after being gone for a year and she greeted us with a hug as if nothing changed.

  • Zoey B.

Awesome!! Salad bar had everything on it! 4 kinds of lettuce mixes, mushrooms, olives, lima beans, garbonzo beans, peas, cherry tomatoes, brocc, cauliflower, chicken, bacon, at least 8 kinds of oils and vinegars, 6-8 dressings, 4 pasta salads and croutons, sesame seeds and other toppings. There were at least 8 other salads veggies there too. The hot food bar was decent. Beef, chili, chips, beans, rice, salsa, guac, pasta with 4 sauces. They also had breadsticks and artisan breads. A full fruit bar and dessert bar. Pop machine and water for beverages. It was $11.25/adult. If you are looking for an awesome salad bar, this is the place to go!!!

  • Katherine B.

Are you eating with a group? Like 8 or more people? 20? Just call ahead. No group? Then why are you here? The bacon is way better than you'd expect from a buffet. No amount of salad will make an all you can eat buffet healthy. Unless you can really resist all that bacon. (and chocolate chip peanut butter cookies. and cinnamon rolls. and soft serve. and bacon)

  • David C.

Cafeteria/Buffet, and better than most. Lots of options, freshly made food, hot and cold. You will not go away hungry! Good choice if you're looking to get a full belly of fresh food!

Absolutely delightful is way to describe the experience at Qcumbers. The place is huge and the spread is bigger. Contrary to other reviews the food was really fresh and options plenty. The soup and salad sections are phenomenal. Being a vegetarian the Hot bar did not hold too much appeal. The dessert spread was modest, but if you are at Qcumbers for a light and healthy meal you really shouldnt bother too much about desserts. So go on everyone for a healthy meal and happy conversations..

As a vegetarian and gluten free vegan we love this place. There is something for everyone - we bring our "meat and potato" parents here and they love it too! Veggies are always fresh and there are many healthy options. The atmosphere is nothing fancy.

One of my favs out on the road. Good healthy lunch option. Large selection from the salad bar, a "hot bar", a soup bar, and desert bar. Always fresh veggies and soup is good. Just raised the prices recently as a standard lunch buffet is a bit more than $11 now but includes all the options above. I will be back!

This is legitimately one of my favorite places in all of Minnesota. The managers have known me since I was a baby (Erin and Kari)... They are so sweet they always make my experience better. Their salad bar is outstanding, best variety ive seen in a restaurant. Food is good homemade. Perfect for really big group's, small groups, one on one, anything seriously try it out if you havent yet! CAUTION: Their breadsticks are addictive

Best buffet ever. Best food ever. Everyone knows how great this place is so there is no need to explain. As a kid I used to color pictures and they'd put them up on the wall with other kids colorings. Good memory. Only reason I didnt add the fifth star is one time years ago the waitress gave us dirty water, I dont know what we did to make her mad, but i saw her dip our cups in the dirty water and bring it back to us. Needless to say she got fired right then and there. Need to bring my daughter!!

Our team at work had a team lunch, so we piled into a friend's minivan and 8 of us were off to Edina. Q Cumbers is located in an expansive strip mall and is quite a large location. We got seated in a few minutes, but in 10 minutes, the place was PACKED! Q Cumbers has is a healthier style buffet, with a gigantic salad bar. I quickly began to pile my plate with a ton of vegetable goodness. I started with some Romaine lettuce and continued to add mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, chick peas, olives, etc..They had 2 healthy dressings out of the 10 available, so chose the nonfat Italian. Great stuff. I added a bowl of their wonderful broth based chicken soup, which had hominy and chick peas. Perfect amount of spice. Could be the best soup I have had. I also noticed that they had about ten types of bread to choose from. They all looked scrumptious. What a fabulous place. I added about 4 Diet Pepsis, and stopped. If I were not watching the calories, I would have tried some of their hot eats. The had a taco bar, nachos, spiced pulled pork, all sorts of happy eats. For dessert, team members at the table had lots of soft serve ice cream with loads of toppings. It looked fabulous. I haven't been here for about 10 years, which was a mistake. The service is spectacular for busing your empty plates. The only thing I would like improved would be to have Coke products, or at least Diet Mt. Dew. A wonderful buffet, only Vegas does better.

Disappointment! I have never been so unhappy with a meal. I expected a restaurant similar to Soup Plantation. What I got was a Wendy's salad bar. Boring, tasteless vegetables. In fact, everything was tasteless. Bottled salad dressings. Large display of mini muffins (cheap). My first and very last time coming to this place. I could have had a nice meal at the salad bar at Whole Foods next door - at least the food there isn't completely artificial and out of a box. Yuck - stay away!!!

Very nice, quiet, clean, family-friendly place. It has a wonderful variety of soups, meats, green salad ingredients, desserts. Me, wife and our 3 kids all ate to our hearts' content for under $30. Oh yeah, coffee, tea and ice cream with many toppings are all included too. My particular favorite? Pot roast! This place has courteous and friendly staff, ready to answer questions and help. My kids loved the food.

Let me tell you, I'm ALL about buffets. I love loading up my plate with steak, potatoes, mac and cheese....but on rare occasions, I will crave salad. Lots and lots of salad. And when I do, that's when I go to Q Cumbers. For $10.50 (after discount), my roommate and I ate more vegetables than we do in a typical month. The huge salad bar is full of fresh ingredients, and I was actually overwhelmed by the sheer amount of dressings available. At least 10 types of oil and vinegar (white balsamic!), creamy dressings (yum, Parmesan peppercorn), and a hot bacon mustard dressing?! Pure salad heaven. Hot food on Friday was make-your-own-fajitas -- I didn't actually make full fajitas, but the rice and beans were pretty good. Soups were hearty, and the breadsticks are a better version of Olive Garden's breadsticks (which have gone way downhill in recent years). Finally, the dessert bar...I only wish I had saved enough room! The soft serve is so creamy, and of course there are plenty of toppings so you can make your own sundae. Service was excellent - greeted at the front door by smiling workers and a lady, who I think is one of the owners. There are a LOT of families and kids running around, but overall the people eating here are okay. I'm not sure how many times I'll be making the drive out to Edina, but if I do, I'm eating at Q Cumbers!

My husband and I absolutely love Q. Cumbers. Their salad bar is super fresh and I love the choices of soup that they have. Everyday they have 4 different soups and one or two are always vegetarian. My husband loves the hot bar with the baked chicken and the hamburgers. You can't find a better view anywhere, summer or winter. I love watching the ice skating this time of year or you can take a walk after your meal around the beautiful ponds.

The fresh vegetables, the soups and the the breads are good. The fruit leaves much to be desired. It used to be better in the past. The water melon and the cantaloupes look rather tired. I haven't met any strawberries in long time. The hot dishes were also a disappointment: The rice was dry, poor selection, and over all not inviting. The muffins taste like baking soda. What happened to the guacamole you used to serve 5 years ago?

This was a great place, a bit better than Sweet Tomatoes back home. I loved that everything was included in the price. Very nice salad bar, and the note saying they do not add preservatives to their vegetables. That is a gigantic plus! Loved the hot bar, their roasted potatoes were fantastic. The food was great and the service was excellent. We will be back when we're are back in MSP.

The salad choices are good. There are additional meat, pasta and dessert choices too. Be careful getting your plates, cups and utensils, however. Both times I have been, there was food particles caked on.

Summary of what's below... don't do the brunch buffet but try the weekly buffet if you want to pack it down cheaply... The brunch buffet will leave you sorely disappointed. We were mainly went to experience some delicious Belgian waffles promised by the advertising. I'm pretty sure they just de-freeze these and serve. I didn't even understand how their french toast could possibly be deemed french toast... are ya kidding me!? What's sad is that this place is huge and laid out well. I wish they'd invest in some higher quality chefs and up their prices a bit. They'd have people lining out the door... The hot bar was decent. The rice was alright. I guess I sort of liked the eggs. Though they weren't anything special. The sausage? Awful. The bacon? THAT was actually pretty good! The Zuchinni dish was just wrong... :( I did enjoy the potato dish, though. It was alright. If you've ever had a REAL brunch buffet (Santorini for instance...) there is noway you could possibly plunk down $25 and feel good about your choice. I will say on the other hand that it's fine for a regular buffet. If you can find their coupons and save yourself a couple bucks... it's somewhat worth it. :) When we went here on a Tuesday afternoon, the selection was pretty decent. I kind of liked the lasagna and the soups were quite tasty! (though a bit watered down...) The salad bar is a treat simply because I'm a fan of greens. There are a lot of options in the way of vinegar's and dressing, which is always nice. Their pasta salads aren't half-bad. The ice cream is also pretty decent. It's not the best but it's sort of like going to a Freeziac.. I dug the whole 'twist' cone option. That was nice. I also find their chocolate sauce and caramel to be pretty tasty. You're going to get A LOT of bang for your buck here but you'll find the quality to be lacking in quite a few areas.

Service, food quality and presentation plus value might explain why it's to busy on a Wednesday afternoon. Except for one thing. The taco seasoned ground beef was so salty that spreading on corn chips and topping it with cheese and garbanzo beans made me bury the whole thing under a napkin and taking it to a bus station to avoid being accused of wasting food. Really, everything else was really good.. A gainer's paradise.

This must be a close relative to the Sweet Tomatoes chain in IL. Similiar concept. Equally as filling. Wandered out here after searching for a decent salad bar. Pleasantly surprised to find out that they had a breakfast brunch as well. Surprisingly fresh and clean salad bar with favorable fixin's. I really like seeing the attendants constantly cleaning up around a salad bar. I dislike seeing dressing and stuff laying around. This one was very clean. Ingredients on the salad bar were very fresh and they had edamame which was a big bonus for me. Pre- made salads looked a bit sketchy. Try at your own risk. Breakfast items were the typical eggs, sausage, bacon, wafffles etc. They did have some very attractive cinnamon rolls which I would have tried if I liked cinnamon rolls. They also had make your own chicken fajitas, rice and beans which looked so- so. Fruit was fresh and consisted of honeydew, watermelon, grapes, apples, oranges and bananas. Server was attentive in clearing the trays and dishes from the table. Nice and open air dining feel. Sat by the window and had a great view of the Centennial Lakes skating chalet and pond with all of the ice skaters out braving the cold. Prices are reasonable. $11.50 a person. Nice opportunity to get a brisk walk to the bathroom which is down a long corridor and then some. Good chance to work off all the food!

If you want mass quantities of low-quality food at decent prices, this is your place. Those who refer to this is a "healthy" alternative really should do some research on what healthy food is. Salad bar options were average, not particularly fresh and the cheese looked processed and disgusting. I'm guessing most of the food in this place comes out of a Sysco bag or can. Bagged cheese, canned fruit, bottled dressings - all looked and tasted flavorless. Hot food looked equally gross. A pile of uniformly shaped hamburgers, clearly pre-made probably frozen patties, probably canned veggies, sad looking baked chicken. The rice and beans tasted decent, but it was filled with butter and salt. The only standout was the soup. I had the chicken pozole soup, which was actually quite delicious. I don't think I would return to this place unless I was craving soup, and even then I wouldn't waste 10 bucks on the rest of the buffet.

For some odd reason, my co-workers really love this place and I whine up eating here more than I should. It is an essentially a really NICE/BIG/Clean salad bar. The menu is VERY limited if you don't really care for soup/sandwiches. They might have 2-3 major hot items. Unless your kids likes salads(I don't know that many - okay NONE), it is NOT a really good place for kids. Lunch on the weekdays are usually $8-9 - that includes all you can drink beverages(sodas, tea, coffee, etc). You also get free desert: i.e. low fat ice cream yogurt, bake cookies, etc... The true gem of this place is the soup. I love their Parmesan Chicken Soup - AMAZING. Their soup looks like it is freshly made with REAL vegetables: i.e. they use dice tomatoes and onions in their chili. I give it a 3 out of 5 stars because...It is a salad bar! Beside making sure you have lots of choices, how can you screw this up?! There is NO chef involve here... I might give it a 4 star if it has more 'hot' food for my kids to choose from. I will be honest, it fits the Minnesotan's mentality to be 'healthy', etc... For my $9 lunch buffet, I rather eat at 98 pounds in Bloomington. At least there I can have variety of fish and hot dishes, 'fake' sushis, salads, etc... Most important, my kids have a variety of things to choose from.

Every time I eat at Q Cumbers, I feel like I've time traveled back to 1986- back in the day where salad bar places were big. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. So, this place has tons of salad (duh) and also some, as Minnesotans would say, "hot dish" selections such as chili, fried chicken, or mac and cheese too. I would argue that this isn't exactly the most healthy place to eat (fried chicken?) but a place that tries to convey the illusion of health (salad). It actually sort of reminds me of the Old Country Buffet but it is trying to be a bit more healthy. I wasn't particularly wowed by the selection of food here, but I think if I worked in Edina and was looking to go out for a quick lunch or if I needed a grandma/old lady type place to eat- this might be ideal. There's salad after all. It's clean and it is convenient. Plus, if I want reminisce about the '80s where the Karate Kid and bad perms reigned supreme, this is a good starting place.

Nice food, but they must have friends at city hall in order to pass code on their restrooms. Seats maybe 350, restrooms (only 2 stalls, not handicap accessible). If you don't mind waiting, waiting, waiting, then this is the place for you

Sweet Tomatoes this ain't. My sweetie and I came to Q Cumbers after I lamented about not being able to find a decent salad in Minneapolis (I'm a West Coast native and vegetarian of 25 years, so I have a bit of a baseline from which to assess a "decent" salad). After the first visit, we both had, er, "gut" issues. Personally, I think it's because their veggies weren't looking very fresh and weren't even chilled (there's a reason they're refrigerated in the grocery store, people). Thinking our first visit may have been an anomaly, we went back today. Mistake. Sweetie and I are AGAIN ill with gut issues - BOTH of us. I should point out he is a hale-and-hearty, pretty bulletproof meat-and-potatoes kinda guy - so the gut-upset is especially worrisome in this respect. And this visit, I lettuce was so utterly skanky (ie, half-dissolved into that goopy-leaf mess, y'know how spring mix gets when it's about 4 days past its expiration date?), that I asked the stocker for some "mas fresco." I did get my "mas fresco" lettuce - but alas, did not prevent the GI issues. :( Please, PLEASE Sweet Tomatoes!! Open a franchise in Minneapolis, I beg of you!

It's a good salad, soup, bread, hot dish, and dessert buffet. If you're looking to have all of that in large quantities, this really is the place for it at $10 per adult at lunch. Salad bar side is pretty normal fair with standard salad bar veggies, fruits, and dressings. Soups are average but nothing to write Yelp about. Bread is a little less than Panera level. Desserts are Old Country Buffet like. If you're looking for soup, salad, and bread, I actually think Olive Garden does a better job taste wise minus the multitude of options and $3 less. If you're looking for a better Old Country Buffet, this would be it.

I like Q Cumbers. I do. But this is certainly not the best salad buffet I've been to. Far from. First of all, I find it WAY too pricey for it's offerings. Lettuce, a few toppings, and a nice variety of dressings. It's ok, but I actually prefer Old Country Buffet as far as salad goes. Entrees are scant. I've been to this place three times, and all three times the hot dish offerings were one Chinese style dish, a taco bar, or a baked potato. Where's the meat?? There are more options for bread and rolls than there are hot food. I have not tried the soups or the bread and rolls. The fruit bar is decent. The dessert bar is what you'd expect - soft serve, hot and cold syrup, crumbled cookies, sprinkles, etc. I also find the closing time of 8 PM to be really early. They start clearing out the salad bar around 7:30. NOW, for all you salad buffet lovers out there... if Minneapolis ever gets a Sweet Tomatoes, then we'll talk ;)

I first went to Q Cumbers many moons ago when I lived in the area in the early 1990s. I loved it then, and still love it today. Was really glad it was still around. Really beats Old Country Buffet. Fantastic, fresh -- wonderful food. All delicious. Nutritious. And very affordable. Nice staff. Pleasant dining experience. What more could you want?

I've been meeting friends for lunch at QCumbers for many years. Consistently friendly service and well, it's a salad bar folks. Pretty standard stuff with a few cold salads thrown in for variety. I usually skip the rest of the "hot bar items". They have several soup choices, fresh fruit and soft serve yogurt.

Amazing place to eat! With unlimited healthy options of meals! And good price too!

ok so any of u heard souplantation or also known as sweet tomatoes? well this place is a ripoff of that place. im from cali and love souplantation. was sad when moved to minnesota and they arent here, but they r in kansas, florida and other states. so how does thisplace compare? they dont make signature salads that are themed month by month like souplantation. souplantation has greek, mexican, italian, caeser salads and the like. plus more soup variety. granted u dont get the rice, meat, chicken thing like qcumbers but its not necessary. its a true healthy salad restaurant. so does this place match? no. but will it do? yes. it definitely gets the job done. but just not great like souplantation.

Somehow, this place is still just as awesome as it was when I was nine. Power Rangers, Mall Madness and Bubble Tape haven't passed the test of time with quite such flying colors. Now that we're adults, however, there are a few things to remember when making the trek Edinaward for a fun and food filled afternoon-- 1. Wear several layers of elastic waisted clothing. That way, as you start to get full, you can cool off and extend salad storage all at once! 2. Skip ONLY the meal prior to the one you'll be eating at Q.Cumbers. That way, you'll be hungry enough to boost performance, but not so hungry that you'll shrivel up like Betty White in that Snickers commercial. 3. Remember your MPR membership card! 15% off is savings enough to buy you a roll of Bubble Tape somewhere.

We didn't have high exceptions, so our exceptions were met. Most of the lettuce is frozen or wilted because it thawed out, salad selections were okay not great, nothing special or different. The food isn't bad by any means just real middle of the road. Q.cumbers definitely caters to families and is "healthy-ish" fast food. Only real complaint is that we were there on a Saturday night at around 7:15 and they were already taking the food down (they close at 8:30)

The hot food is various shades if salty and more salty. Avoid it at all costs!! The salad bar is decent. They gave a good mix of different veggies and good toppings. Not great, but adequate. I'm not quite sure how this place stays in business, especially given the location. The food is meh, and the decor is "saved by the bell" 90's. I'd think that the Edina clientele would be more discriminating.

High quality salad bar with lots of variety. They also offer some hot items, soups, and desserts but these are not the reason to eat here. It is all about the salad. The restaurant is clean and always busy. The waiters are very nice and attentive -- remember to tip them a little even though it is a buffet. It is a great place to bring kids and get them to eat their vegies with an ice cream or pudding reward at the end. It is ok for them to make some noise and just be kids at this place. Ask for a balloon for your kids when you are paying!

$9 gets you 300% of your RDA of every dang nutrient there is. When traveling to Minneapolis, and burned out on restaurant food with their mystery ingredients (probably 40% butter), I crave Q. Cumbers. It is just a big salad bar. But it's quite nice for being just a salad bar. It's certainly not a date place, but all the walls are glass and over-look a pond (or parking lot, depending on which side you are on.) There is precious little meat. I found some chicken over in the burrito stand, which was pretty fatty. But, in fairness, this is probably what meat in all burritos is like. I've just never seen it naked before. By the way, they close fairly early at night, so plan accordingly.

As far as buffets go, Q Cumbers' is about as good as you can get. As other reviewers have said, it's like an upscale Old Country Buffet. The atmosphere is generally pretty nice, with waitstaff carrying your plates away with a smile and refilling water glasses instead of mousily busing your table with a blank face. Even on busy Sunday afternoons, the tables seem to be arranged so that the inevitable crying kids aren't nearly as nerve-wracking. The atmosphere is fine until the sun goes down, and then it seems less and less appealing. DISCLAIMER: That's probably just me...not necessarily anything Q Cumbers' is doing wrong. It's not a date place. It's a family place. The food is okay. The salad bar is excellent, but their other offerings are just okay. If you're not in the mood for tacos and/or Mexican rice, or some mish-mash of meat and vegetables, then you're probably going to be disappointed with their main course offerings...I usually am. My kids love the place. They can fill their plates up three and four times, something they can't do at other family restaurants. And of course there's the dessert area. Sundaes done the way you want them, with all the fixin's...that's what the kids REALLY love. All in all, it's not a bad option. It may seem expensive, at almost $9 per adult, and each kid costs 70-cents per year of their age. So my 10-year-old's meal is $7.00 (do you like how I can do the basic multiplication required by Western society? I'm a Mensa candidate, folks, mark my words). And when you think about a non-buffet meal at any other restaurant, it's usually $9 for one entree, and that's not counting salads or dessert. So it all evens out. Just the same, and this is just me and my sometimes-crotchety personality, I usually find myself impatiently waiting for my kids to finish their supper after about 30 minutes.

If you're in the mood for a salad, this is definitely the place to go! They have a HUGE selection of fresh vegetables & salad toppings. Literally everything you've ever imagined topping a salad with can be found here. Bonus: they have a hot food bar, which is small but goes along nicely with your salad. Double Bonus: they have a bread & soup bar, which serves a variety of warm breads AND flavored butter - YUM!

My friend and I enjoy Q Cumbers. We've made a trip to it at least once a year when my mom comes back to MN to visit. They have a much nicer buffet than most places. Yes, you're still going to be a fat ass if you stuff your plate full of whatever; however, I feel that you will be less fat than if you pile your plate at Old Country Buffet. But this is just a feeling, and regardless of the facts, this is what I'm going to keep telling myself. Their salad bar has way more variety than your average buffet. The pastas are pretty good and I always have fun at the frozen yogurt section.

My kind of buffet! If you are looking at going here for a low-cal option - it is better than chinese but I am not sure if you are that far ahead in the race. The selection is amazing...the quality of the vegetables and the upkeep of replenishment was good. The selections were very diverse... lettuce/spinach, meats, cheese, toppings, dressings... all endless. It even had a dessert bar also (insert calories here). It was a tad spendy in my opinion for salad... but not horrible. It was great to check out once, I might go back, but this restaurant is still encouraging me to try new places before going back to the already discovered.

I like this place because it does have a large salad bar. When what I want is salad this is the place that I head, if what I want is a big plate of dinner type food I do not go here. I'm not a fan of their "hot" bar, bland and lacking comes to mind. I do like their bread and cookies and am a fan of the frozen yogurt. I would recommend this place and I do drag my husband here even though he would rather go get a big'old hamburger and he leaves full and happy. give it a try, give salad a chance!

My fiance and I were visiting the area for the Mall of America and were looking for a soup/salad place as a lighter alternative. Q Cumbers hit a homerun and had the BEST chicken noodle soup I've ever had at a restaurant. It was so good, I had to go up and try every other soup they had and I was not disappointed with those either. Too bad I live in Illinois, or I would go back all the time!

Pretty delicious buffet -- not your typical buffet, though. This place is 60% salad and fruit, 40% other stuff. The place is consistently clean and fresh, though the customers are a bit stuffy in general.

This is not the best food you will ever have. There will be no James Beard awards on the walls, ever. BUT. The price is great, the food is better than your average buffet, the service is quick and friendly, and if you have kids this is THE place to go. Food: A somewhat healthier take on your basic buffet fare, the salad bar is much bigger than the hot food bar, and the hot food bar has a lot of healthy options (on the night I went, make your own stuffed baked potatoes and a teriyaki chicken that looked skinless, also a lot of veggies alongside the pot roast, mashed potatoes, etc). Unlike Old Country and the like, they are not afraid of spices and the garlic is plentiful in the appropriate dishes. The mac and cheese looked and tasted like it was made with real cheese. Dessert is pretty good, with cookies, small muffins, two flavors of ice cream, a variety of toppings and LOTS of fresh fruit, jello, etc. The soups were a bit wanting on the night I went. Atmosphere: High ceilings, fairly open, the staff keeps things very clean. Nothing to write home about but nothing offensive either. Right near the restaurant is Centennial Lakes Park, so there's a pleasant view out the windows. Kids: Here's where the place shines. If you have young kids, the speed of a buffet is nice to get through a meal without meltdowns, but on top of that this restaurant also offers kids books in the waiting area, a vat of crayons and a bunch of pre-printed coloring sheets, and balloons for the little ones either before or after dinner. The prices are low for kids too. Definitely a great option for 'parents don't want to cook and kids have no patience' dining.

I went to here for Sunday brunch. I have to say that it was pretty decent for 11.99. This by the way DID include beverages, which is great! They had a buffet of salads, which was fresh and in great variety. Then they had a fruit/desert bar which I never made it to, since I ate too much of everything else, but it looked delicious! They had a warm buffet of fajitas, which was ok. Nothing to brag about, but not disgusting. It is serve yourself, so the service was fine. :) I will go back to check out a day without the buffet. They did have containers that you could pick up, so that you could make a salad and take it to go. I thought that was really cool.

I dream of the QCumber. Recently finding out that the true cure to a hangover is fruit and vegetables coupled with my roomie's need to fit a bridesmaids dress brought us to Edina to try this place out. It worked well for our budgets and we probably spent a solid hour eating. Salad bar=amazing, hot food=dece, bread=always good, froz yogurt bar=can't get enough, and fruit=my favorite. Instead of greasing it up now after I've thrown tequila into a night of rum only this is my new go-to. So clean. Even the water is well done.

Like the proverbial question: "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" I must ask the question: "Which came first, overweight people going to all-you-can-eat buffets or people become overweight because they go to all-you-can-eat buffets. Q Cumbers is a quality food buffet at a reasonable price. Sorry, but I didn't look that deep into it, but it would seem that their foods are all natural with no preservatives. I'm pretty sure that they are NOT Organic. The salad bar has everything you would expect and some decent hot selections (not that extensive though). I think if you made Q Cumbers your #1 spot you may get fat, but here again, I'm not sure.

We went for a sunday brunch & we were pleasantly surprised. Our initial instinct, college/university cafeteria. The choice of food was unlimited with a great variety of veggies as salad bar, pasta salad, fruit salad, variety of breakfast items, desserts, drinks & coffee & teas. Everything is self serve. It was worth trying.

Ok this is one of those places that in my head is better than reality. Each time before I have gone here I have been kinda excited (usually going with a bunch of friends) but then I look at the food options and my joy goes downhill fast. Maybe I am not really meant to be a generic buffet kind of girl.

If you are in the mood for a soup and salad buffet then Q Cumbers will get the job done. The veggies that they stock are not always 100% fresh (I had to pick a few gross cherry tomatoes and mushrooms out of my salad), but all in all the place is passable. They have 3-4 soup options which all looked good (the chili was decent). Add some of their warm bread, and you can't lose. The desert bar was well stocked, but some of the fruit looked like it was starting to go bad. Their entree bar did not look that appetizing to me... Maybe I'll try something from it next time.

"Ya, Ya Bet Ya!!! Mn Nice, "Smorgasbord" Not just your Average, Minn. Nice & Bland, "Smorgasbord" Baby!!! Oh No Sir ,Sven & Ole!!! Not just a Salad Bar,not just Church Lady Casseroles, or Entree's left too long under Lampage. They have several excellent Vegetarian Soups & Entree's to please even the most Finicky Veg Head, as well as the Omnivorous. They have theme nights too, Mex Night, etc. Minnesota is the land of Smorgasbord , American Buffet originates here, & usually that is NOT something that we should be proud of, but Q.Cumbers takes "Smorgasbord" (my Scandinavian Roots makes me like to say that) up Several Notches. This place is clean, well laid out, with a pleasant Decor that you don't have to feel like a Cheapy Creepy to be seen in. I am famous for being a bit of a "Fancy Nancy" , Snob of Fashion, Food, & Decor-- a self proclaimed S.A.P., Swedish American Princess, who won't go to a "Dive", but this place is Acceptable Plus. There is a view of Centennial Lake Park too, so this is a Feel Good Buffet, "Smorgasbord" ---I just love sayin that. They don't go wild with too many Dessert Choices, just a Soft Serve Bar & Toppings Galore, but that works for me.I am Glutton enough with the Soups, Salads, & Entree's that are a rare ocassion at a Buffet Style Spot .Ok, Smorgasbord, I had to say it one more time, it's a great word!!! This is my Niece & Nephews Favorite place for a Good Old Fashioned Food Fight, & once we all learned to behave & they allowed us access again, a Favorite place to Over Eat. Ya, Ya Bet Ya!!! 3.5 out of 5 Tiara's

Nothing too fancy or special here. Pretty straight forward buffet that we've found to be hit or miss depending on the day. The salad bar is very consistent. Deserts are pretty standard also. For the money, would rather go to Whole Foods across the parking lot.

Q Cumbers is a salad bar buffet in Edina - big difference in food quality and clientèle from, say, Old Country Buffet or Golden Corral. We go for the salad bar - excellent lettuce and spinach and every veggie and topping (amazing raisins!) in the book and a good selection of dressings - even non-fat for my friend on Alli. The place is spotless, the buffet extremely well maintained, and the staff is attentive. Did I mention fresh baked choc chip cookies and muffins? Plus - fresh baked cookies, pot roast from prime rib (today anyway), excellent soups, and drinks included. Very OK coffee and Intl Delight! All for about $23 with tip. The crowd is good suburban types - reasonably well-dressed, within a couple of SDs on weight. I strongly recommend. Why not five stars - it's not a unique ethnic place, but it's high on my list of favorites.

This is another place that I just don't quite get. The food is okay, but nothing special. As Ms. K mentioned, there really aren't that many choices. Okay, you get a taco bar, but big deal. I've been dragged to this place by friends and have always left with a "blah" attitude as far as the food goes. I like some of the pasta salads, but again, there is nothing special about the food here.

I think the folks that condemn buffets in general are missing the point. Minnesota is a GREAT place to live or to visit. Usually, however, "salad bar" means iceberg lettuce and jello. Maybe cottage cheese, if you're lucky. This is a great buffet (I'll define great in just a bit) which is clean, fresh, and full of light. In this case, great means it has a large selection of fresh and delicious food, everything from entrees to dessert (and much in between). If you want to get a LOT of food, this may be the place, but you probably would be just as happy with OCB. If you want to be surprised about the quality and range of the salad bar, this is it. When we went, there were several interesting soup choices, including chili. It's really hard to wrap your head around a buffet. Usually they are OK and you're just hungry. In this case, I ended up eating more than I should have because I just *had* to try some of the variations because they didn't look gloppy.

The first thing I wanna talk about withthis place is the service. You wouldn't think a buffet would have great service, but Q. Cumbers delivers great service. From the cleaners to the people that buss the tables, everybody is respectful and extremely helpful. As far as food goes, I went there for dinner and it was great! It was only $10.85 for the adult price and drinks are included. They advertise their salad bar a lot and they have good reason to. There is a ton of choices as far as salad toppings and dressings and for all the vegetarians out here, they make sure to arrange all the meat toppings at the end so it doesn't get into everyhing else. There's pasta and potato salads that are clearly marked as to whether they are vegetarian or not. On the hot bar there's a mixture of hot foods that usually include mashed potatos and gravy, a few meats, and a couple hot vegetarian options. I finished up the meal by hitting the full ice cream bar! Excellent!

they had a buy one get one free promo so we checked it out. it was alright for a buffet. not much of a selection other than the salad and soups. I think they had 3 or 4 entrees to pick from. they say salad is king here but i didn't see anything more than a normal salad bar...i guess the salad probably was the best part so it can rightfully claim to be king at qcumbers but that's not saying much. i probably wouldn't come back.

  • Cindy S.

    Q. Cumbers was just not my thing. I love salads and the concept that they were going for but in my opinion they just didn't quite hit the mark. The salad bar had all the standard toppings that you would find on pretty much any salad bar with the addition of a few nonstandard extras like chickpeas. You had a selection of 2 or 3 types of greens and approx. 12 different dressings to top it all off. They also had a '"taco bar" which had a very moist but flavorless fajita mix in it along with flavorless beans and Spanish rice. They had a very small bread selection and also a sad attempt at a pasta bar. A few of the pasta salads were ok but nothing for them to brag about. Overall there was nothing that made me want to go back ever. Even my husband who isn't very picky about what he eats said that he just didn't see a point in going back because everything was blah and there wasn't much of a variety of items. For me the 11.99 price tag just wasn't worth it either. Note: Be careful with their toppings, when I was there half of the cherry tomatoes were rotten and the green peppers were so soft that it seemed like they had been sitting out sliced for days.
