It's a pull up bar! Great place to come on the Lake! Fun tiki bar-- pretty good food but wonderful ambience and service

Excellent food with a nice view! My family all enjoyed their food. The sweet potatoes fries were absolutely delicious! I had the Pesto Pizza which was pretty good, and the pepper poppers which were quite tasty. The service was good and the prices for lunch were decent. There is a nice view of the lake with a north woods cabiny atmosphere. For vacationers in Cross Lake this is a good spot!

We are staying at the Whitefish Lodge and received a coupon for the restaurant here. Although it was a great coupon, (buy one get one of equal or lesser value free) the food was not good at all. If your looking to drink and have a good view of the lake, then this place would be for you.

We are staying here. We had the unfortunate encounter with Anita. They weren't willing to work with us. We just wanted a appetizer and drinks. Nobody wanted to help us. It was totally ridiculous and rude. Do not stay here. They don't care about having return customers.

It's criminal that this lakeside patio can get such a perfect sunset for such bad food and poorly mixed drinks.

While the lodging itself is an awesome gem up north, the restaurant it houses...not so much. We decided to come up for the week, went to hit up their Wednesday bingo and the service there was just pure awful. In the two hour span our server visited our table twice, once for the food/drink order (after having to already wait 20 minutes) and one more time to drop it all off. But granted, we did see her a bunch of other times...just at other people's tables. PROS: -The food was so delicious!! Short ribs were outstanding and the Chicken LaLouisiane was just as good. -The bartender on that night made up for the lack of ( to put it lightly) everything else.

Stopped by in the boat for drinks and appetizers. Had a decent salad and a couple good but forgettable apps. As someone who has been coming here for years, I would say they haven't really been getting it right in recent years. Have not conjured the optimism to engage in a full dinner here for at least the last two owners.... Best views. Nice tap beer selection. Friendly service though not exactly attentive. Bartenders a strength. Dock boys very cool and helpful.

This review is more for customer service than anything else. My friend and I came here on a summer Friday night hoping for a fun drink by the lake. We're locals and had been here a time or two in the past. Upon arriving we walked straight out to the deck bar. There were plenty of tables available since it was early Happy Hour. We went to sit down at one of the tables attached to the bar but the bartender told us we had to go back inside and wait for the hostess to seat us. Confused, we went back inside and waited for a hostess to seat us at the outside bar. We stood for 5 minutes waiting for a hostess. No one showed up. Meanwhile that same bartender followed us inside and was standing around doing nothing but watching us wait. No one offered to serve us or assist us so we walked out and went to a different bar. Extremely disappointing.

Wish I would've checked in with Yelp before eating here. Service was the worst I've ever had and food wasn't even good. After sitting at a table for over 20 minutes no one even bothered to take our order, bring waters or even acknowledge our existence. I ended up ordering our food and drinks at the bar and being my own server! Spend your money elsewhere!!

I told myself and everyone else that I never wanted to go back. Every experience I had was worse than bad. Yet, for my birthday, a friend said they would take me to dinner. I was excited! Yay! Birthday Dinner! I hurried into the car and asked where we were going for this fabulous dinner? You guessed it, the dreaded Manhattan Beach Lodge. I did not have he heart to tell my friend how much I despised this sub par restaurant. So I bucked up and hoped for the best. I hoped the years had changed things. I hoped that it would be the best dinner ever. Unfortunately it was not. The food was not as bad as the last time. I had salmon with Jasmine rice. However, they neglected to inform this pepper phobic of the red and yellow peppers that infected the flavor and lurked throughout this so called Jasmine rice. Oh well. I press on and hope for happiness. They did exchange the imposter rice for mashed potatoes, not bad. Then they even gave me free birthday dessert! Oh how exciting! I ordered their chocolate lava cake. How bad can you mess up cake? If you were wondering how to make chocolate filled with chocolate and ice cream bad, ask Manhattan Beach Lodge. They brought me a beautiful looking lava cake with a nice side of vanilla ice cream. I grabbed my fork to dig in and was rejected! What?! I couldn't believe it! Rejected by a cake :( My fork bounced right off its chocolate armor. I made another attempt. Again, the chocolate dome rejected me. The third time I went in with force. I won! (It's my birthday! No cake will get the better of me!) I added some ice cream to the bite of chocolate lava crust to help it go down. The freezer burned ice cream was no match for that chocolate rock. Disappointment! Oh the disappointment. I did not think dessert could ever be that bad. So, in closing, I stick to my guns and say, find another location, save your money, save your taste buds, and save your gas! Head somewhere else for dinner.

Chicken saltimbocca was amazing! Their tap water is from a well and is hard to put down. The ribeye was not salted or seasoned and overlooked. But a good cut of meat so if they had a cook paying attention it would've been fine.

Four of had dinner here on Labor Day weekend and had the worst service I can ever remember. Drinks were brought in plastic cups. It took an hour to get our meal. Food is good, the service from the bar and kitchen was terrible.

We had a great experience at this restaurant. It was our anniversary weekend and they made us feel very welcome. The prime rib was cooked perfectly. The 3 pepper popper appetizer was amazing and unique. The view was nice, over looking a frozen Big Trout Lake.

The service here is terrible, and it has been for years. I have visited this place as an annual tradition for the past 36 years...and the service has always sucked. However, your options in the area are limited (Moonlight Bay is a bit on the townie side for me) and the view of awesome Trout Lake is great. I've stayed in the hotel and that's okay, and if you are just here to drink its fine, but if you order food plan to be here a while. I don't understand what the deal is - its slow if the place is packed or if you are the only ones there. The food is decent (I had the walleye po boy and it was good for the price) but did I mention the service is not? I am going to say this place is not good for kids because time waiting for food is already an eternity for kids, and at this place it has got to be torture.

Manhattan Beach Lodge has a perfect view of Big Trout Lake. The hotel rooms they have are decorated with cabin-kitsch which is nice if you're coming up to Crosslake for the "cabin experience" and do not have one of your own. They have a lot of boat ties, which is nice and they have a gorgeous patio. The pine trees and the lake combine for some epic scenery. They have a great chef and the lobster bisque is to die for. My only beef is that the service is abnormally slow and they usually end up forgetting part of the order. But again, the lobster bisque is to die for.

Dinner last night: service, slow and confusing. Apps came before any drinks. Food, salad was very fresh, rolls could've been purchased at any gas station (they came with frozen butter orbs that could not be spread). Ribeye appeared gristly but was said to be cooked correctly and tasted fine. Deep fried walleye with wild rice, if it was walleye, it wasn't fresh big portion though. Wild rice bland precooked and reheated. Drinks, mohito was ok. Appetizer lunch today: crab artichoke dip with pita wedges. Service fast pleasant. Food, meh... Drinks, pink bikini was good and alskan ipa was delicious. Price: 86.00 for dinner. 36.00 for app lunch (plus drinks) Overall, service: 3/5. Food, 2/5. Drinks, 4/5. Price 2/5 P.S. 3/5 maybe a little generous

We go here often. Okay, yes the service is often slow and disorganized. But the food is always good and the view at sunset is amazing, so we just make sure when we go we are not in a big hurry, and sometimes end up getting our own drinks at the bar if they are understaffed. We go by boat and just know what we are getting into and enjoy it.

The restaurant was terrible. Food was sent back twice for being cold. By the time we actually got our food an hour and a half transpired and the place was empty! An hour and a half on a slow night!!! Are you serious. The manager never came to sort things out or apologize......so we ate and left without paying........on our anniversary! Please do not dine here, they have done nothing to try and earn your business.

Service was good. Friendly helpful wait staff. Food was pretty bad. I ordered a strawberry salad with walleye. The walleye was raw in and around the center and served cold. The side of sweet potato fries tasted as if they had been sitting in oil all day and microwaved. Would not go back.

We have been coming to Crosslake every summer for 20 years. We used to stay at Manhattan Beach Lodge in big part because of their fabulous restaurant. But a few years ago, the lodge changed owners and they decided to focus on selling alcohol rather than great food. We stopped staying at the lodge 2 years ago. Last year, we decided to have dinner at the restaurant to give it one more chance. We had an awful meal. Most of the meal was clearly premade and reheated in the kitchen. The fish wasn't fresh. The rice pilaf completely tasteless. The steak was gristly and not cooked to order. The whole meal tasted like something I could get (cheaper) at Applebee's. The service was even worse. We waited 45 minutes for our food and the diningroom wasn't even half full. We vowed last year NEVER to return. Don't waste your money here.

Apparently Manhattan Beach has lost their excellent chef . The famous lobster bisque, formerly creamy and sweet with lobster chunks, now approximates a pureed curry sauce with a hint of ground lobster. The remainder of the meal attempted sophistication, but attained sophistry. The disappointment of the food was matched only by the defective service which was slow and, potentially in an attempt to help profitability, avoided refills of coffee, pop, and water. The family has placed Manhattan on the permanent off-limits list. The elder male stated, "I wouldn't eat here even if someone I disliked was paying."

Maybe I'm too easy? I don't think so, but I read others reviews about poor food and poor service and compare that to our experience and wonder...did I miss something? This was really a FOUR star place...but read on! First night of vacation, a group of 7 of us pontooned across the lake. We had reservations and were seated promptly right in front of the entertainment area. Our waitress was witty and fun (and put up with us) and did a great job. We ordered drinks which came right away - and she kept checking back with us. Several in the group ordered prime rib - they raved about it and it looked and smelled great! Partner ordered saltambocca and he loved it! I had some trouble selecting what I wanted and asked the waitress for guidance, and she did a great job steering me toward scallops which were perfect. All in all, the food was very good. Now...in any other situation, I would rate this place as a FOUR star experience, but here's why they got FIVE stars. On the pontoon ride across the lakes, one of our members got very sick - sick enough that he was green in the gils and couldn't eat by the time we arrived. The staff managed to get him from the pontoon to the car of a waiting staff member (without parading him past the rest of the dinner guests) and gave him a ride back to the cabin so he didn't have to suffer on the boat. This is above and beyond service and even if the food were awful (and it wasn't) or the waitress was a crank (and she wasn't) I'd still rate them FIVE just because they cared. Overall...great experience!!
