We love this place, best flavors around. Have been eating here for years and recently made a change in my diet to gluten free. Staff was fabulous about helping with ideas for off the menu items and was willing to modify certain dishes. Food was amazing. Staff is friendly. Ladies bathroom has the coolest vintage modern wallpaper, it's so old it is cool again.

Seriously the best Chinese in Burnsville. The best Lo-Mein, Chow Fun, Fried Rice and the absolute BEST Egg Foo Young in the world. No other restaurant makes Egg Foo Young like this place. As an added bonus, the house made crunchy 'Chow Mein' noodles are the BOMB as well. It is a bit dated inside and out, but don't let that deter you, the food is great.

We've been coming to the Chinese Gourmet for over 20 years. The food is fantastic. We were there tonight. The egg rolls were hot and crisp and tasted freshly made. The Plum Pork and Sweet and Sour Chicken were excellent--the best that we have had in the Twin Cities. Service was attentive, friendly, and prompt.

Super great food!!!! I've called 15 minutes before close, and they are always happy to take my order. Working in the food industry that's a big deal. Easily the greatest crab Rangoon you will have (actually any of the appetizers). Best Chicken Lo Mein, the value is amazazing..... you have to eat here..., they have several money saving coupons available. If you haven't ate here.... do it!!!

1st time diners, we opted for take out using their online ordering from website, ordered beef and broccoli, Happy Family (seafood, beef and vegetables) and Orange Chicken along with Lo Mein noodles and rice..the Tab was $61 and change..extremely disappointed in the quality and quantity of food. Very small serving portions for the price, flavors were bland (all three sauces for very different and distinct dishes tasted just about the same).. we called the restaurant asking that our CC be credited and expressed our disappointment as 1st time diners..after a long conversation we received $20 off CC and a $20 credit to be used at a later time (that will remain unclaimed)..very similiar situation as Shannon L on 6/29/14..should have taken the time to read the reviews.. disappointed by the food, disappointed by the lack of customer service, disappointed by the lack of effort to credit our CC and save a potential customer...seriously...yuck!! Even if they had credited us the full amount, I would have left the same review..if you want bland, tasteless food that is overpriced, this is your place

One of the worst Chinese food I have ever had. We ordered the kung pao chicken, general tsao chicken and crunchy tiger chicken with egg rolls and cream cheese wontons. It all tasted like it was reheated, the chicken was rubbery, the cc puffs were chewy and oily and there was hardly any flavor. We paid 60 bucks (not including tip) for 3 people. That's outrageous for the quality it was. We have never taken food back but we had to because it was so disgusting and so expensive. The lady at the counter was so appalled that we didn't like it she only gave us 20 bucks back. It was terrible, needless to say we will never go there again and definitely will not recommend this to anyone!

My boyfriend and I live very close to Chinese Gourmet and have dined in and ordered out many times. Their food is delicious. I can say most of their portions I find too big, but leftovers are always okay and I find it to be priced fairly for what you recieve. They have some of the best steamed potstickers I've ever had! I've never had bad service there, and we've gone in with groups of 8+ on a few occasions. They're never very busy in the restaurant when I'm there, but I don't mind that at all. It's awesome when you're looking for a more quiet dinner. The outside of the building is deceiving because it doesn't look like anything fancy, but I find the inside to be charming and unique and definitely adds a positive vibe to the whole experience. There are a few really good Asian cuisine restaurants in this area, but I highly recommend Chinese Gourmet!

I came here for a friend's wedding and I am not a big fan of their food. ( I hope my friend the one who invited me to his wedding doesn't read this) The food they served weren't fresh and tasty. My friend had a 10 course meal. One dish was a hot pot and there were only 2 pieces of baby quids, 3 half cut meatballs ;( I was not satisified. Anways good thing I didn't pay for it. Inside is small and cute. I didn't like the bathroom at all. Sink was broken, there were writing on the walls, toilet seat was icky. Awful. Service was alright. Parking is free. Not sure if I will come back.

Went to Chinese Gourmet in Burnsville on Valentine's Day. We went early (5 pm) and had the sampler appetizer for 2, Mongolian Beef, Rice, I had a soda and she had a glass of wine. Incredible food, huge portions and a total bill of $24.00! The service here is always excellent, it is a nice setting (cloth tablecloths, seating near the fireplace). The decor is dated, the outside looks offputting, the food is AMAZING!!! The beef skewers in the appetizer that you grill on the little mini cast iron grill in the center of the huge appetizer platter were amazing and fun to grill to a nice sear. The wings in the platter were delicate in flavor and very meaty and juicy. The 2 full sized pork egg rolls in the sampler were amazing and flavorful. The cream cheese wontons in the sampler were delicious. The total cost on the sampler was around $10.00. GET THIS WHEN YOU GO! The mongolian beef was tender, delicious and huge. We split this. They have a happy hour deal till about 6 or 7 pm with $2.00 per glass wine. All in all, an excellent meal, a great price and quite romantic.

Great atmosphere, food was a bit heavy on soy sauce (I ordered sesame stir fry).

It being the first nice weekend of the year in Minnesota, we had tried to stop at a couple other restuarants , but long lines, we decided to continue South to Burnsville and check out Chinese Gourmet. There have been many times we have driven by and thought about stopping, but finally decided to give the place a chance. And we were very happily surprised. The hostess was very friendly. The 5 spice calamari was awesome, and you get a ton of squid. We also had the sauteed beef and potatoes and Phoenix seafood soup and they were also good. I do think they would get more business if they did some work on the exterior of the building and also got a new sign. Overall we really enjoyed our meal and experience at Chinese Gourmet Restaurant.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
