Love this place, my favorite fast food place for a burrito!

"Meh" pretty much sums it up..it reminded me of a cross between taco johns and taco bell. I had a chicken quesadilla and my friend has tacos and we split the "fries" which are basically a not as good version of potato oles.. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I've been just pining for some taco johns lately, but this place just didn't impress me. The quesadilla was ok..the ends of the tortilla were really dry though so I didn't eat the whole thing..it was also a little sparse on the filling for my taste. The salsa was sub par. The one good thing about the meal was the southwest sauce that came with the fake potato oles, yum! I probably won't go back here..but it wasn't the worst food ever. Plus, it was fast, cheap, and the service was friendly.

I decided to try this out after reading reviews.....This IS NOT as good as Chipotle and whomever thinks it is, are morons. Overpriced chicken soft tacos, bad customer service, and not much better than Taco Hell. I did not even get a hello, or an "Okay since you have never been here before, let me tell you a little bit about what kind of "Mexican" food it is!" I will not go back, it is not worth it and there is better kind of food in this genre out there for a more reasonable price....B.S. experience....

I come here for Tacos very infrequently and every time I leave I feel like I need to come back again soon. The food is better than TB or other mexican fast food. The portions are larger than TB of Taco John's yet not as big as Chipotle or Qdoba. In my opinion is just right. Burritos and tacos have a nice flavor that seems cleaner (not greasy) and fresh, although they aren't selling this food as healthy. Worth stopping in, and then promising yourself you will come back.

I wasn't one of the people that grew up with this establishment so I come from a non-nostalgic point of view. It was decent, but not special. The service was friendly and extremely fast. The restaurant was very clean, and the decor was quaint. Now for the food, it was hit and miss. I had the chicken enchilada platter, and it was below expectations. The sauce was spicy (which I like) bit didn't have a very appealing flavor profile. The corn tortillas seemed stale and were difficult to cut through with a knife. The rice was not good at all. It is chipotle lime like chipotle, except the rice was a bit hard and had an off flavor to it. I also added a hot chilito, as that is what everyone raves about it, and I found their applause to be deserved. It was excellent, with a very good soft flour tortilla and an excellent taste. Too bad it was skimpy....either way when I go back (if that tells you anything) I will just load up on these. My wife had the steak burrito combo and a side of refried beans. She said the beans were not good at all, and other than the first bite they went unconsumed. The burrito was somewhat bland, but pretty darn good! She said she would definitely go back and order the same thing, but this time without the side of beans. Overall its a decent place, and it doesn't mean to compete with actual Mexican restaurants which is good, because it doesn't. For quick cheap food it definitely has its place and is better than the other fast food Mexican restaurants. We will go back, but its not like we will be back tomorrow.

The Chillito is a must have... I remember them from when I was a kid. They are a small chain restaurant but make excellent Mex food. Better than Taco Bell and their hot sauce is actually hot. 5 stars fro Zantigo!

Always been a fan of the Zapata, Zantigo, and other Mex Food establishments that I'm told the same people have started. Most sold out to the likes of Taco Bell. Now Zantigo is back to stay I hope. Zantigo prepared food onsite, not in a central location. This results in food that is better. Service is usually good at most locations, this is a good location. I like most of the food items and often buy extra to eat the next day. Higher price than Taco Bell, but worth it. Has Free WiFi which I like..

This is my favorite fast food mexican restaurant in the twin cities outside of the taco house in St. Paul. This is a a weekend ritual to go grab a burrito and a few tacos. I personally get sick of the way to huge buritos at new places or the completely fake food at Taco Bell. Zantigo is a nice place to go for Americanized Mexican food that is tasty and still has a little authenticity. The staff is always nice, the place is always clean and the service is always decent. We go out of the way to go here. Also definitely a place you can talk and for some reason the background music is always some really good 80's music. We ofter remark we wish we had that guys playlist.

Taco Bell, but a sit-down place. Actually a quite decent menu to choose from and a wide range of sides, but really, I guess it was kind of a jack-ed up Taco Bell. Granted you get more food for your money, and it's much better quality, and better service and well, all around just a better place. There wasn't really anything that made this place stand out. I've worked in Bloomington for 10 years (as well as went to high school for 3 years there) and I have never heard of this place until someone told me about it. Would I go back? Only if someone else suggests heading there for a taco!

I love the cheese and onion enchiladas here, they are really good. So are the churros, nice and crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. The only problem is if you take it to go you have to eat the churros first because the quality goes down the colder they get. I've also tried the chicken taco and it was nothing special. I could probably make one just as good at home. I haven't had the chance to try anything else but I will definitely be going back.

What is there to say? I grew up loving the "chilito" in Chicago (where there were no Zantigos) from T. Bell. As time progressed, the chilito turned into the "chili-cheese burrito" and has slowly suffered into almost a fast food after thought. Then I was introduced to Zantigos. The origin of the real Chilito and all was right in the world. Green or red, I don't care I will eat them all. Actually, I am tempted to ask them to just pour 3 chilitos worth of goodness into one tortilla and save me the trouble. Who ever though Norwegians could make such excellent fake-tex-mex? The green chili is also a new fav. Not saying I am proud of this discovery (as I try and abstain from fast food... when possible), but this place is special. Viva Chilito!

My last review was a little harsh. The grande pork burrito I had today was enjoyable. There was a lot of nicely cooked pork in there. It was like a chipotle carnitas burrito only much cheaper. I still don't understand why everyone loves the chilitos though. As far as I'm concerned they are a beany cheesy mess.

I have been eating at Zantigo's for over 30 years and I have to say I'm a fan. I was one of the first customer's when they opened the Bloomington store. If you like good fast food type Mexican food, then this is the place for you. I've always received fast and friendly service.

Mmmmm.... Chilitos. Nothing else on the menu is worthy of ordering. Stick with the chilitos.

This place is a great local fast Mexican food place with plenty of Vegetarian options.

Excellent fast food Mexican. Be sure to get a chilito or three. I can't remember what anything else on the menu tastes like, because chilitos are all I get now. Chilitos!

This is a joke! The worst place I have EVER eaten. The meat was like cat food, the quesadillas were not better than something I could make at home, and the anchors were chips with shredded cheddar stuck in the microwave for a minute. The cheese was so stuck to the bottom I could not even get my chips off the plate. GROSS! We will never be going here again.

This is fast food mexican, but it is a big step up from Taco Bell. Their taco shells are light and crispy and the meat isn't greasy and full of sodium. I think their Grande Burritos are a step up from Chipotle as well. I can even say their salsa is decent. It is a great spot for a quick lunch.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
