Finger Painting Of Burgers There are all types of artistic expression or styles and the very first one humans learn is while they're in preschool - finger painting. At this stage, it's definitely, "in the eye of the beholder!" and of course you're going to tell your child how beautiful it is. However, when it comes to food and restaurants using art to describe their food, you better be able to bring work a da Vinci to the table, not something done by a 6 year old. Some of you have tried to collect every shot glass or t-shirt from this next place for the Gnaw to visit and you guessed right, it's the Hard Rock Cafe. For several years, downtown Minneapolis had a Hard Rock Cafe and the couple of times I've gone, it's been a very unsatisfying experience. It eventually closed, but several years later, opened back up inside the Mall of America's Nickelodeon Universe. It's been opened for a year now, but my wife and I refused to go, knowing what our past experiences have been. We finally gave in during a recent shopping visit and decided it was time to see if anything has changed. As I open the menu to look things over, I find myself on the burger menu. I start to read, "You know how phenomenal artists take something real and raw and make it legendary? Yeah, our burgers are like that!" I see burgers with the word legendary in the name and I start to wonder... Are they legendary? Are they actually better than past experiences? My wife ordered a Hickory BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger while I went with their Original Legendary Burger. The place wasn't very full and my wife mentioned, "does it seem like it's taking a little long?" And it was like the runner could hear her, out came our burgers. Mine came with an onion ring, so I immediately went for the ring. After just one bite and only one bite, I decided to put it down. Well... the onion ring was cold (makes sense for the length of time it took) and I took a quick bit of my burger which was also cold. Instead of being medium (pink in color on the inside), mine was looking over cooked. My wife on the other hand said that hers was cooked more inline with how we like our burgers prepared, but even after a few bites in, hers too had signs of being over cooked. I decided to inform our server of the situation, but that I would eat my burger as we didn't have time for a new one to be made. Our server was however, kind enough to right the wrong and had a manager comp my meal. Clearly, using the word legendary or describing your food in a way to suggest that your food is like a fine piece of art work, is false! I would however describe the Hard Rock's food to that of a fine finger painting art piece. It amazes me that their restaurants are typically crammed full when the food is so mediocre. It must be that really cool drum stick on the wall from Tommy Lee or that very ridiculous purple costume that "the symbol" donned in Purple Rain! Whatever it is, I'll stick to the true da Vinci's around town that make my tummy happy.

I've never bothered to eat at a Hard Rock. I'm not to sure I'd be bothered to eat there again. The server was fine. The place seemed to have a nice atmosphere. My 2 year old son loved the music and the guitar plates that they serve kids on, but the food overall was not that great. We started off with the Tupelo Chicken Fingers. They weren't terrible. I actually thought they had an interesting flavor. It kind of reminded me of a crispy chicken samosa. After looking over the menu and not wanting to try my luck with sub-par BBQ or a steak, my wife and I decided to just share The Classic Club. The turkey had a decent flavor, but the sandwich was lacking personality (and mayo!) Overall the experience was ok, but not worth repeating.

Went to this place with my family and try to enjoy a nice meal but what a disappointment when you enter there, and because you you are not wearing a suit or have a white skin treat you like you are nobody that is how i felt when i went in and sat there for almost 15 minutes and nobody came to the table. And some american people that came after they went to them right away !! 1 star is too much

The Hard Rock Cafe seemed like a good idea at first... Until I got my drink, a very small Southern Rock, for $9.50. Then after dealing with a rude and annoying waitress I got my burger and a few fries. Plus the burger wasn't good. So really, the worst Hard Rock Cafe I've ever been at! Don't go, there's plenty of other places in the mall.

Disappointing. 1. Place is empty. Patrons are told there is a 30-min wait. 2. Host table has 3 hosts. Hosts seem to have trouble communicating with each other and patrons. On average expect a 5-min wait without being acknowledged. 3. Place is not busy, but the kitchen is "backed-up". 2 appetizers take 25 min. 4. Order of wings was anemic. I was at least happy it was happy hour so they were half-price. Paying $12 for this small portion would have been even more disappointing. 5. Nachos looked like they were sitting on the heat lamp a bit too long. Not much for ingredients. Or cheese. Looks like they were prepared at Taco Bell. No offense to Taco Bell, at least there you know what to expect.

First experience in a HRC, so I am more than thrilled. This was our last stop in town before our seven hour drive home, and even now, on that drive, I am still very full. I had the Mushroom Swiss burger, while the boyfriend had the Local Special burger. While my burger was by far the best, and juiciest Mushroom Swiss burger I've ever had, his burger, topped with several types of cheese, and a whole heep of Mac & Cheese, looked absolutely splendid. Big Sexy (not even kidding, thats actually what her name tag says) was our waitress and she was such a happy soul that it made me smile. And I continue to smile now, even thinking about her. I was so happy with her job, I felt the need to tell her so on the back of our receipt. My only complaints are that the music wasn't exactly rock in my opinion, and that threw me off, and that the website told us that they were closed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Even so, these aren't enough to make me take away the stars this place deserves. How they only have two and a half stars is beyond me.

Went to this location because it was on the first floor of the Mall of America. I was trying to avoid doing anything other than on the first floor, due to a person in our group who is visually impaired. We got in right away. They seemed to handle the seeing eye dog with no problem. The menu was not extensive. I was hoping for a better beer selection. So I just had a strawberry lemonade, it was a little too sweet at times. I ordered a hickory smoked pulled chicken. It was flavorful and messy. I would not say it was outstanding. It came with fries, beans and cole slaw. My wife had salmon, it looked over cooked to me. But, she did not complain. My son had mac and cheese that came out on a guitar shaped plate. The last person in our party had a honey mustard grilled chicken sandwich. It was messy as well. It came with fries and cole slaw. Nothing outstanding at this location. It is pricey for what you are getting. Service is average.

The food was pretty good and we had an enjoyable experience here. But, it is pricey. I guess to be expected considering the name and that it's located inside Mall of America.

Nobody knows how to turn over tables, not accommodating for children/strollers. Busy and overwhelming (but that's to be expected) the food wasn't good at all either, it's all for the special if that's what you're into. Plenty of other places at the mall that are better

Best eating experience on our whole trip to Minnesota! Though I will state first that this Is my first Hard rock cafe trip. We had the mushroom and Swiss and the Local legendary which Is essentially a macaroni and cheese burger! We both agree that they were some of the best burgers we've ever had! Our waitresses name was big sexy. She was fun and interactive and the manager stopped by our table, and she did so long enough to not only ask us how our food was, but ask where we are from and even talk to us about where we live (In Kansas City). Awesome!

We really only stopped because A) I've never been to any Hard Rock Cafe and B) we parked close by and I was not about to search for a place to eat because this mall is so huge... We bought a little magnet here and the cashier was a little aggressive in trying to get us to buy shirts and keychains... Mmmm no thx! The food here was pretty average and our server was friendly & attentive but all in all a decent experience!

3 stars for the service and 1 star for the food. The service was great! Staff was very attentive and made sure you enjoyed being in the restaurant. However, I didn't enjoy the food as much as I thought I would have. I really wanted to like the food, but everything tasted very bland in my opinion. Overall, it's a very touristy place to come to. Kids would love it as well.

Can't give a NO star rating but waited for 10 minutes and no server ever even greeted my family of 5. Cool decor HORRIBLE service

If you're looking for a place to grab a nice meal at the Mall of America, there are a plethora of choices. Unfortunately, the Hard Rock Cafe is not one of them. On the other hand, if you're looking for a casual dining experience where you can browse their diverse collection of rock memorabilia while waiting (and waiting.....and waiting...) for your food to arrive, well this may be just the place for you. We had a large group dinner pre-arranged so they reserved the upstairs dining area for us. It's a good-sized mezzanine that overlooks the main restaurant with nice views of the Mall of America's central amusement park court. It also has its own bar, but because it was a very slow Tuesday night, the bar was closed, so the waitress had to go downstairs every time she had to get drinks. Drinks: Below average Moscow Mule. Well below. Vodka diluted with canned ginger beer served in a glass. Don't order this. Food: They have an assortment of appetizers - your typical casual dining fare of chicken tenders, onion rings, baked potato skins, spinach dip, etc. Our indecision being our downfall, we ordered a few jumbo combos, a mixed plate of apps that were universally bland and boring. Every plate was left half-full. I ordered the Hickory Ribs. The serving itself was pretty generous - a full slab of pork ribs served with fries and small ramekins of coleslaw and beans. After the extended wait and disappointing apps, I was ready to dive right in. Yikes. The ribs were fairly tender, but tasteless. If I had to guess, they were parboiled, then slathered with the pastiest sweet BBQ sauce they could find, grilled, then finished under a heat lamp. My friend ordered the same thing and we were both scraping as much of the sauce off as we could. It was not good. Don't order this. There was a common theme of complaints around the table - the food was bad, and the service was abysmal. They had one waitress managing our table, along with other tables downstairs. Sorting out the bill (no, we did not ask for separate checks) was a comedy of errors. In the end, though the waitress really struggled, I think the blame lies with the management here. I'm not a huge fan of too many of the restaurants at MOA, but as a whole, they are miles ahead of Hard Rock.

The location is great, we were out on the patio. Well known food, however, kids menu's are only good up to age of approximately 4 years of age. Older and it is a scam.

It's a Hard Rock Cafe, so the food is going to be pricier than you'd like, but you really go for the ambiance anyway. They played videos during the two lunch times I had there. There is also a small stage and I think I'd heard that bands will play there once in a while, but I'll have to check on that. The place is two levels, but be certain to go to the lower level to check in for a seat. The staff is friendly and fairly efficient. It's a great place to take a music lover on a date. There's memorabilia everywhere, but watch out in the bathroom. Some genius came up with the idea to have the hand drier in the sink. I think you can figure out the problem from there...

Went in on a Saturday night at about 6:30, expecting a wait with the plan to sit at the bar and have a few drinks. We were told it woul dbe about a 45 minute wait for a table of four. Bar service was terrible and after finally getting one (expensive) beer, decided that it was not worth it to try to get a bartender's attention. There were two and only focused on drinks for the servers not the bar. After an hour+ with no text message for seating, we walked up to host stand and were told 20 minutes tops and they were expecting some large groups, even though there were 5+ tables of four open. After complaining a second time, the clueless and disparaging hosts said we were coincidentally on the top of the list. And they immediately sat us directly in front of a speaker. A band started to play 5 minutes after we sat down and could barely hear the person across the table from you. Expensive menu, poor service, average food. Will not be back.

If you've been to one Hard Rock Cafe you've been to them all. I ordered the fiesta burger because it looked like one of the most interesting things on the menu, but in execution it was extremely average. The food is decent but nothing to write home about, I'd say that its is a step above TGI Fridays but with somewhat higher prices. Although this probably isn't the typical experience my service was extremely lacking. Our waitress kept forgetting about us because they had a weird section layout and we were hidden from her view by a pillar. The only redeeming quality is the great music memorabilia and the wide mix of music videos they play here. Given the many different dining options at the mall I'd skip getting dinner here and just grab a drink at the bar so you can check out the memorabilia.

I was here today (3/27/15) and the bar tender was pathetic...she was not ready to explain and listen to our interests. I don't know her name but next time when you go pls don't get served by a girl with nose ring n weird hair style!!!Shitty Attitude Face

I came here for drinks while shopping and was a bit letdown by this place. It was my very first visit to a Hard Rock Cafe and had heard they were amazing. I should have asked what was amazing about it because the food and drinks weren't. I felt bad for the bartender as she had a crowd at the bar and a full restaurant ordering drinks and she was the sole drink maker. For a couple going in for just that (and a nacho plate) it was not the best experience. The drink I had was good and I would have ordered more if she weren't so slammed. Nachos were nice as well.

Couldn't call since phone was busy, seat request was sold out, so decided to come down anyway. Found a great seat at the bar, and when I found out they ran out of beer stein HR glasses (no stock until well after my trip) they made it happen that I could walk a away with great service, local burger, and a HR Minneapolis beer stein glass. Thank you so much for making it all work out.

Typical of their many restaurants around the world, the Hard Rock Cafe in the Mall of America promises dining in a themed atmosphere. Located in the heart of the largest mall in America & inside a theme park dedicated to rides based on Nickelodeon cartoons, you have to indulge. Walking into the restaurant, you have the obligatory gift shop, but once beyond that, you see garments once worn by the Minneapolis music icon, Prince & instruments that belonged to a number of his protegees. Of course the memorabilia is part of the draw. I went for an early dinner on a random week night, so there wasn't any live music, but the food was good & the service was actually above average (I've been to 10 Hard Rocks from San Francisco to Paris). Of the many places to eat at the MoA, this is definitely a solid option, especially for families (you certainly aren't going to take the little ones to Hooters, are you?).

The food here was just average and fine. You could call it boring. The menu is filled with average normal dishes and the food that came out was just average and normal tasting. They could definitely use some seasoning on everything and get a little more creative. I'll try a different restaurant next time I'm at the mall.

My husband and I really enjoyed our Hard Rock Café experience. We have been to Hard Rock cafe's before so we knew what to expect and quite honestly, have been missing the food from there. We were not disappointed. Our waiter was friendly and checked on us frequently. The décor was fun, with lots of memorabilia to look at. The restaurant is very well kept, which is a must considering they just opened not that long ago. My husband and I both had burgers. I was a bit disappointed with my burger as it was falling apart while I was trying to eat it and the bottom bun was a little soggy due to all of the grease. The taste was still very good; however and portion size along with the fries were great. I will definitely be back, and perhaps try the ribs as they smelled terrific.

Server didn't know that specials existed until I reminded her. An order of chips/salsa took 20 minutes to come out. Server had a total of 3 tables and everyone was still looking around for her. Won't be back.

Meh, reminds me of a music themed Applebee's except the food is worse. We tried The Texan pulled pork and chicken sandwiches. Virtually no flavor, pork was dry and chicken was more moist. Both came with beans and fries, fries were decent but the beans tasted like taco seasoning. Our food came quick so that was nice. Our waitress was nice and was trying hard to make a connection but mostly it was awkward. A note to management: skirts are not universally flattering!

My friends and I went here for dinner. There was five adults and three kids. The wait for our table was very short - I loved the fact that they texted me when our table was ready. When we got to our table we had to wait 15-20 mins for our waiter to ask us for our drink orders. When she finally returned we put in an order for an app and our meals knowing it might be awhile before we see her again. Another 15-20 mins pass and we finally get our drinks. (Yup, that's 40 mins to wait for a water). Ten mins later we get our app, wonderful...but wait our food was following right behind it (minus one of the kids meals, which was a whole other mess). Here's the kicker, we all ordered tall beers - boy was that a $12.99 mistake, the waiter forgot to mention, by us ordering a tall we are also purchasing a Hard Rock Cafe glass - oh please can I pay for a glass to take home to remember how much I hated my experience? All in all, the food was okay, the atmosphere was loud, and the service was horrible. I will not be returning.

I was there last Friday night around 7:30 PM. It took over 30 minutes to get our food and once our food arrived we didn't see our server until we were almost done. We had to go get our own ketchup from the server station. The veggies on my fajita plate were raw and all the dishes were super bland. We will not go back.

  • Rick C.

For not being very busy, the time it took to get our meals was extra long. Took 28 minutes from time ordered to the time it was served. Our server was nice, but seemed busy elsewhere. Also, the price is very high considering the slow service.

  • Alison V.

Short take away: Good Food, LONG wait times on food (90 from seating to leaving). Let's start with the positives: The food was great! I had the Duo Fajitas with chicken and beef. Meat was cooked perfectly. There was a bit to much onion but really that is just a personal taste thing. My husband enjoyed his entree as well, the salmon is what he ordered. My kids, had they been hungry (more on that in a minute) enjoyed what they did eat as well. Negetives: We sat down a little before 6:30. It took us 10 minutes for anyone to even approach our table. It took another 10 minutes for us to get one glass of water. (Note: there are six at the table, 4 children under 8 and myself and husband). We ordered our food when we ordered our drinks and it was close to 7:15 before we got our meals. We ended up having to feed the kids snacks from our diaper bag and then when the food did arrive they were not hungry. It took until 8pm to get our check and boxes. The manager did take care of the kids meals for us. We told him the food was delicious but the waiting was just too long and he offered to take care of that for us. The kids' meals all came home with us. However, the manager took the check around 7:30 to take care of it but we didn't get it back so we could pay until almost 8! I might go back again just to see if this was a fluke but I certainly won't be bringing my children until I know this isn't their standard.

Server was great. She was personable and energetic. Food was just ok in my opinion. Had the fajitas and the shells were hard and tough

You can't go wrong with bbq pulled pork, right ? We tried the Texan burger. They managed to screw it up, dry, overcooked, little or no bbq sauce. Not discouraged but disappointed, for the price I think culver's is best.

We went on a Sunday night during Christmas break & the place wasn't very busy. We were sat at a table right away & offered drinks & appetizers promptly. Staff was nice & friendly but took forever to get our appetizer which was nachos & they had a weird sweet cinnamon taste to them that wasn't very appealing. The food was average nothing to get excited about & was way to expensive for the quality which was a step above the food court. I've been to several Hard Rock Cafes & I always remember them being busy & full of energy. This one was dark & dreary & just dead for being on a holiday weekend. Location is good but they are going to have to livin things up if they want to stay in business.

  • Daniel G.

Horrible service was told 20-25min to be seated we waited 40 since they were busy. We stood in front of the hostess the whole time. We go up to ask how much longer she said another 40 min which is bs you see us there why don't you inform us. I felt more sorry for the family next to us they had a party of 5 and a random guy that walked in with his family after us and was seated right away with no wait at all. When we told the hostess we were waiting so long we even asked for a seat at the bar she gave us some dumb response then she said she even when they seat us in the back we wouldn't even have our food for another hour and half so it doesn't matter when we sit down. Another thing she gave gc to a family because she felt bad but no gc to any one else this place sucks don't even bother.

Ooof......really slow service. I didnt time it, but when we got our food, it didnt make it better. Food sat under the warmer for a while I imagine. Very hot and dry. Not what I envisioned from hard rock. ....

This was a great place to unwind after shopping all afternoon. Drinks are a bit pricey, but to be expected at MOA, Our server, Stacey was the best. She took care of all of the details and made sure we never ran out of anything. My pulled chicken sandwich was a bit on the bland side, but the twisted mac and everything else was awesome.

I took my family here during my 1st visit to Minnesota. I didn't know that the Hard Rock Café had just opened at the Mall of America. The staff was super friendly and amazing! We ordered hamburgers, steak and chicken during a weekday lunch hour, and it was delicious! Ive been to many Hard Rock Café stores from Miami to Orlando to California to New York and found this new location and little on the downside on rock memorabilia. Otherwise, I love it!

I just had the most amazing experience at the Hard Rock location at the Mall of America. I was on town on business and happened to receive the news that I was accepted to law school in the middle of the day. I decided to celebrate solo dolo. The place was empty and I was alone at the bar. My bartender Jessica was amazing and I told her my good news. She proceeded to tell everyone she encountered (including other staff) about the news I shared with her and completely made my day. Its nice to know that chain restaurants still have staff that are warm, friendly and genuinely care. Thank you, Jessica!! Enjoy your visit to Seattle (the cooler city).

We dined here during our Anniversary Trip to the Mall of America. The Ambiance was great. There was Rock memorabilia all over the walls. They were playing 80's rock videos on a big screen television. I ordered the Cowboy Ribeye and my Wife order a Bacon Cheeseburger. Both were delicious. Our Waiter Shane took very good care of us. I have been to several Hard Rock Cafes in the past and this one is my new favorite.

Hi. More of an FYI...service was great as was the food. Here's what happened though, yesterday my grandson and I, upon leaving, ended up leaving via the outside seating area. One of the staff escorted us that way and when the gate was opened, because the one level up and then one level down were both the same color, lightness, I didn't notice. Yes. I fell and then slid across the floor! I fell on my hip and then my arm and I am so very amazed I didn't get hurt! The guy was concerned and also an onlooker as well about me. I was so surprised nothing was hurting. Had I have been hurt, it would have been also a problem of Hard Rock Cafe. If I may suggest, could you somehow distinguish the stair from the floor? You may not be so lucky next time. Just saying...

Quick to be seated . Clean place. Kids like the music videos and really great coloring pages. Food was okay, but over priced.
