Spending my sister's birthday here! Pretty good fish. Complimentary key lime pie for her birthday, so can't complain

This is kind of an odd location; I forgot how I ended up here. The drinks were above average, and hats off for having Pimm's stocked, although the barman didn't know how to mix a Pimm's Cup. Not remarkable enough to be a destination.

We were so excited to come here and try their happy hour but were so disappointed. The aioli potatoes appetizer were crispy but there were only a few pieces with the aioli sauce, making the rest pretty bland and boring. The chicken satay was 3 pieces of chicken about one ounce each, not worth the price! The oysters were not that big. The clams were the only things I liked, it was a big portion with lots of flavor. The service was decent, only one bartender for the whole place and he did a great job.

Enjoyed lunch at Blue Point today. I had the Brazilian Moqueca, my nephew had the walleye sandwich. My Moqueca was beautifully presented and just my level of spicy. Both the veggies and the seafood were plentiful. I would definitely have it again...but will come back in the evening to enjoy the excellent beer selection. My nephew ate every bite of his beautiful walleye sandwich. I think he liked it! Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. One mild disappointment was the lack of a patio. Apparently there used to be, but the area forms a wind tunnel so it didn't work out.

Nice atmosphere with a big bar and plenty of parking along with good food. In the lobby of a green building. I had the coconut red curry seafood stew... Very good! Grilled tuna salad, was very good but the Tuna on the salad was fantastic! Cooked perfect!! Have fun.

Arrived tonight at 7:40 pm looking forward to excellent oysters but to my dismay they were closed. Bummer. Had great experience last three times for dinner.

We took a family member out for her birthday here, and it was fantastic, as the food was delicious and service excellent. While I opted for the Angus burger, my fellow diners enjoyed the Coconut Curry Seafood Stew, Baked Oysters Rockefeller, Shrimp Cocktail, and New England Clam Chowder (apps for dinner!). I'm not kidding when I say that our server literally spoiled us. She even brought us some comped Key Lime Pie, because they accidentally put the wrong cheese on my burger, which didn't bother me one bit given how great it was. Also, we had beverages at ALL times, which was really top notch. We will come back here. Just excellent.

Seriously, the oysters. I don't care if you think they're disgusting, you will like them here. It is the best deal you will find for top notch Blue Point, Virginia oysters, hands-down. Also, the Brazilian Moqueca is delicious. It tastes like a Thai curry, it has a nice little kick, and the fish is sautéed perfectly. They have a pretty great beer selection, too. If you are into brown ales, try the Enki Warming Hut Nut Brown Ale. It's amazing. The only downside to this place is the location. It's just a bit strange walking into a sterile corporate office in order to go to dinner. But, honestly, I forget about it when I drink the beer and eat those freaking delicious oysters. Seriously, eat them.

Oysters Rockefeller were very good. The spinach was puréed with a nice touch of garlic. The main course, Corvina, tried to have a Mediterranean touch but was dry and lacked the the capers listed on the menu. Despite mentioning this to my server, no accommodation was offered.

Overpriced mediocre food is one thing, but the terrible management earns this restaurant its one star rating. A family friend gave us some gift certificates to this place so my boyfriend and I went on a Sunday night. The server was excellent, the food was ok, but the way management handled a situation that came up makes me never want to return this place. There were maybe 5 tables in the restaurant, including a few families with children and one very loud group sitting at a table close to the bar area. The group sitting next to the bar had several drinks and were being loud and obnoxious. Not something you'd expect from a nice restaurant, but something that can happen when people drink too much. The point where it got out of hand was when they started yelling profanities and loudly talking about anal sex - this lasted for about 20minutes. Keep in mind everyone else in the restaurant is utterly frustrated with this group of people. We asked our waiter to see if he could ask that they quiet down, which is something they refused to do out of "politeness." Ok sure, we were then moved across the restaurant, but could still here them from the furthest point we could be. After dinner we asked to talked to the manager to let him know that our experience was more or less ruined and we found it difficult to find a reason to come back. His response was that a restaurant is a public place where it's rude to tell people what to say and how loud to say it. No genuine apology, just a lecture on how it was rude of us to bring it up. Didn't ask us about our opinion of the food or service, just straight to the point, if you don't like it don't come back. Really?? Someone is giving you feedback on their and experience and you say, well tough luck don't come back. What kind of manager are you??? You can't perceive that every other table besides that one was clearly upset. When one table is ruining your other customers' experience, you should take note of that and try to fix it. This place is clearly ran by an incompetent manager who doesn't know how to handle direct confrontation or more importantly how to service a group of customers. The awful manager is the reason why we cannot return to this place. He was rude, inconsiderate, and just overall didn't care if we came back or not. So we will never be coming back.

Stars doesn't justify anything bit I would like to give few opinions. I was here lunch and dinner. During lunch visit; had gumbo (I didn't like it that much), fish and fries (it was little plain, no seasoning on fish fry but French fries was good, I was complaining about the fish but I finish eating all French fries), THAT FISH TACO WAS GOOD, I would kill few more of those and I had steak ( I thought that steak was little old) for $20 lunch it's little over rated!!! Dinner serves: we had steamed mussels, New York steak and 2lb lobster. Steamed mussels was awesome but I wanna taste that white wine, steak looks great but when I eat it was so chewy and I wasn't appreciated also side veggies roasted potato was under cooked and glazed sprout Brussels was first bite great but plate gets cooler it's become sugary taste to it, talk about lobster after 2lb I was still disappointed by meal over all... End of the dinner, I didn't feel special or not maybe they are more focused on HH... Screw HH FOCUS ON MAIN DINNER COURSE

Now that I'm actually at this location, it is entirely different than the oyster bar. But then, so is Wayzata and Bloomington. It's attached to Rasmussen College on the frontage road. Not impressed with the scant amount of clams in the chowder. I tasted the lobster roll. Tarragon in a lobster roll is pretty gross. The decor is very open and very chic. It's like a place where you would want to show yourself off. The patio in the glass building is actually attractive. They didn't put out for their own bathroom, and it's not so convenient down the hall. This is more of a mood place than come for the food place.

I went to the Blue point for happy hour tonight. I had the calamari which was cooked very nicely & lightly breaded with a nice tangy sauce. They made me a special Canadian Walleye sandwich (which was delicious) & French fries. They also have an excellent draft beer selection and I had the Green Flash Double Red Ale IPA which was fantastic! An excellent dining experience...

I'll have to go again and see about upgrading my lunch choice and therefore upgrading my notes. Nicely decorated but the fish tacos were a mix of different fish cubed and then blackened fried? Which is the fastest cooking method to remove fish flavor and the tomatilla sauce was no help So much for the cheapest thing on the menu. My host ordered the crab cakes that looked like stovetop stuffing patties and the white chowder Whixh she said had no detectable clams. Maybe that was the cheapest thing on the menu,.

Both of our entrees were absolutely wonderful! The tuna was perfectly seared and the mahi mahi was lightly grilled and was the perfect combination of flaky and juicy. The accompaniments were nicely cooked and the 'concept' for each dish was well executed. Our server was excellent at managing our table, but she messed up a few of our orders. She brought the wrong type of fresh oysters, even after asking for clarification on exactly which ones we wanted. She also failed to bring one of our side dishes, but we weren't charged for it either, so I guess I can't complain too much about that. The main problem with Blue Point is the price. Everything on the menu is simply priced a few dollars too high. Were the prices more reasonable I would definitely return here more frequently. As it currently is, I will only stop in only once in a long while.

This is a wonderful restaurant that I have enjoyed eating at three times in the last year ... fresh fish and veggies, great mixed drinks and wine list, solid service, comfortable setting. I can't believe some of the negative reviews I've read here on Yelp and believe they say more about the reviewer than the restaurant. Maybe I missed all the places down the road with Michelin stars, but the fact that Blue Point has won numerous industry awards for many years running should be enough. The best advice I can offer Yelp users is to always check out the other reviews of reviewers to get a feel for their credibility and understanding ... or lack thereof. Whenever business travel takes me to the Twin Cities this is the first place I go and I have never been disappointed.

I was excited to try this place out for "happy hour" one weekday night. Met here on Tuesday night and it was far from what I call busy. A few people in the bar but plenty of tables available at 5:30pm (happy hour only goes till 6pm). Not a good start for a first impression. I have to say about the only thing I was "overwhelmed with was my "double pour" house Chardonnay (a 10 oz. pour for $6). After that I was "underwhelmed' with most everything else. Even though I like most seafood I didn't particularly care for the selection of appetizers on the menu. We tried the fish tacos, fried polenta and their fish and chips (also fried). I was envisioning something more special than the way the fish taco's came out. First off... they're served cold with a mixture of seafood/relish in a dish to spoon onto a soft taco. Sorry... I prefer my tacos warm. The fried polenta reminded me of an enormous french fry and did come with a tasty red sauce but how about a few healthy options on the app menu? I have to say I went home hungry and not satisfied. Our waiter was attentive when we first arrived but we had to hunt someone down to try to locate our bill when we were ready to leave. First impressions seem to stick with me... so sorry Blue Point but I don't think I'm be making a trip back here anytime soon.

A little hard to get to off 494, but totally worth the effort! Great happy hour, experienced wait-staff, and super fresh seafood. We've eaten in many of the higher-quality seafood restaurants in MSP but I had no idea there was a blue point location in Bloomington. I will make a point to tell other seafood-lovers we know.

summary: grumble, grumble, great service, poor food, expensive. Longform: They have excellent service. But for their prices, I would rather pay a monkey to do backflips. Location: they are in a sub-urban island. The only way to get there is by car (popular model observed were late 90's oldsmobiles). It's in the shadow of a high-rise real estate building and a community college. Food: Scallops/Shrimp had sand in them. Not particularly my style. There was a very odd choice of starches with the proteins. (Avocado bed?) Creative liberties in the suburbs? Drinks: I had their beer (good selection), but my partner was ecstatic over some of their cocktails. Price: ouch.

Very good service and nice decor despite being located in an office building (but annoying that you had to leave the restaurant to use the office building bathroom). My main issue is that it was horribly overpriced for the quality. My shrimp were overcooked so much that I couldn't get part of the shells off. Asparagus was good but that couldn't save the meal. My friend agreed that the food was very underwhelming. I would be more generous with the stars but for the price, it was very poor. No excuse for poor execution. Very disappointing.

Happy hour deals on food and drink are pretty good. Fish items are their specialty. The Scallops I had there were not stellar but the fish tacos and Fish and Chips were pretty good. They have a good selection of beers on tap. The service is always top notch.

My husband and I took our sons here yesterday for the happy hour menu. We had the house wine (which is $6/glass for California Peak Chardonnay or Cabernet). During happy hour, its a double pour for the same price (see picture). We ordered two dozen blue point oysters ($1 each during happy hour). The oysters didn't have alot of flavor and the cocktail sauce lacked zip and heat. My husband ordered the lobster roll and he said it was mostly mayo and didn't taste very good. He picked the pieces of lobster out of it. He also had a bowl of gumbo. He and I both thought there was an odd spice in the gumbo similar to minced meat pie spice. It was too sweet. I had the softshell crab sandwich and it wasn't as good as it was when he had it for lunch earlier this week. We asked the waitress if it was the same chef all the time and she said it was. She took the softshell crab off the bill because we weren't happy with it. We ordered a side of hashbrowns which smelled amazingly good. They tasted sweet to me for some reason. Our boys had the peel and eat shrimp which was a generous order. They also had the fish and chips and said it was pretty good. We ordered a piece of the homeade key lime pie which was absolutely amazing! Our sons enjoyed the chocolate cake and chocolate gelato, which they loved. We sat on the patio and it was beautifl while the sun was out but turned cold quickly after the sun dropped behind the building. The staff came out and turned on the heat lamp which I really appreciated since I was in a short sleeved shirt. While we weren't thorougly impressed, we will go back and try this place again. I'd just recommend that the kitchen revamp their cocktail sauce, and be more consistent with their seasoning of dishes. Location - just look for the glass Rasmussen college building, it's right next to it. The restaurant is very nice and the patio area is really nice too. It's disappointing that the bathroom isn't in the restaurant but it's not a big deal.

They've got some decent, filling food, but for the price and ambiance, its pretty expected. I'm personally not a fan of the straight up Mid-west seafood style food, so soup, fish burgers, fries, salads, and surf and turf doesn't do anything for me. That aside, it's not bad. Service was friendly although a little green considering we had a table of 11 people. I think a lot of people think the food is over priced, and for lunch, yeah, it is. For dinner, considering McCormick & Schmick's is near by, I wouldn't say it's unreasonable for the type of food and ambiance. Final note, there's no wow factor here, and there's nothing wrong if you prefer familiar, fully/slightly over cooked seafood. You'll get your food and a modern, cool, leather, and dark wood surrounding.

This is close to work so we have been going here a lot lately for business lunches. I tried the juicy lucy. Didn't enjoy it at all: not enough cheese and the burger was very well done to the point of being dry. A few of the others said the fish was good, so it seems that's the way to go at this restaurant. I'll try that next time.

Blue Point is the definition of average. My hubby and I use Restaurant Week as a way to try new restaurants and we got excited when we saw someone comment that "Blue Point is the Oceanaire of the suburbs". Well, that person was quite wrong. Though our dishes were good, there was nothing extrodinary or stand out. We enjoyed a sunfish that came in a little parchment pouch -- points for fun presentation and a blackened salmon which we thouroughly enjoyed. Salad, soup, and desert were not worth a mention. Atmosphere is not exciting, it is located in a business center and feels a lot like a hotel restaurant. I think I'll continue making the drive to Oceanaire -- it's worth it.

Went to Blue Point for dinner last night. It was a fairly quiet night, even so the service, while very friendly, was a bit slow. For starters we had calamari and it was ok. The clam chowder was good. For dinner I had the scallops and they were very good. After dinner coffee left a bit to be desired. A bit of a mixed bag, but overall ok.

Overall I thought the dinner was sorta OK, nothing special, but pretty steady-eddy food. Service reminded me of a NY Steak house, almost thinking the bartender and our waiter would have a plaid vest and a handle-bar mustache. I ordered the tuna appetizer. Six incredibly undersized slices of hamachi, drizzled with wasabi and soy-hoisin sauce. somewhat flavorless but at least i was fresh. I ordered the swordfish over roasted vegetables. The swordfish again was OK, nothing special but was incredibly misseasoned. some pieces had none and other tastes made my head snap back from the oversaltedness (sic). There is not a lot to choose from in the neighborhood that is much better so for the area it is a good choice, but you should manage epectations.

Went for a Friday night happy hour. Bar was crowded and not a sole in the dining room. The host knew we were looking for a table in bar as we walked around to find one. Saw a couple leaving and were ready to take the table when the host said another party was taking it. We were before the other party. He was so rude and non accommodating. Finally he felt bad and offered us happy hour prices in empty dining room. Server was the crankiest, most unhappy server I've seen. Food was marginal at best. I would recommend McCormack and Schmidts happy hour and food. Much better! There is a reason the dining room is empty on a Friday night! Will not go back.

Being from out of town, we stopped by for a quick bit for dinner. Sat at the bar and tried the walleye sandwich. I thought it was really good. Service was just okay and the food took a while but I would definitely try the sandwich again next time I am in town.

Went there with some colleagues at my company and a client. I am not much of a seafood person. The server did an outstanding job recommending the fresh Alaskan Halibut. When I say fresh I mean 24 hrs out of the water fresh. They were flexible with my entre sides and it was just an excellent experience. Yes, its pricier than the usual place I go to when traveling but it is worth every penny.

Disappointment at its finest. My co-workers and I visited the new Bloomington/Edina location of Blue Point Restaurant. We were excited to try this new location. We were promptly seated in the dining room which nicely arranged and decorated. Our server came over right away to assist us. We were quickly served our soup/salads. And. Then. We. Waited. For. Twenty. Minutes. Our entrees took an extremely long amount of time! Plus, our silver wear, remaining bread and bread plates were taken when the soup and salads were removed. Seemed a bit strange? Two of us tried the walleye sandwich which was decent. Not great, but not terrible. My co-worker didn't like the sauce, while I enjoyed it. The French fries were terrible. They were slightly warm, but absolutely stiff as a board! They didn't taste very well, but the rock solid state of the fry made it even more strange than anything else. They looked wonderful, but felt and tasted terrible. Someone else in our group tried the Louisiana Shrimp Gumbo followed by the Smoked Shrimp & Caramelized Pineapple Pizza. The Gumbo has curry in it, which is not typical... and being from Louisiana this Gumbo did not live up to her expectations. The pineapple over powered the shrimp on the pizza, enough so the shrimp could have been missed if you didn't know it was there. Lastly tried by our group was the Duck Ravioli with House Made Confit, Orange Infused Duck Demi. Unimpressed. There were four barely visible ravioli on the plate when it arrived (approx each the size of a quarter). Their online menu listed Fish Tacos that sounded fantastic. I inquired about this when we arrived because it wasn't listed on their printed menus. The server said they had eliminated that item from their menu recently... not sure how recently that could be because they just opened! A short while later my coworker looked towards the bar where their Happy Hour menu was displayed and they listed fish tacos. The server could have at least let me know they no longer served it for lunch, but had a HH option. BTW - HH is from 2:30-6 PM. Maybe this was an early on fail for Blue Point, but having a long standing location elsewhere made this visit quite a disappointment. I most likely will not return... definitely not in the near future.

As a frequent patron of Blue Point, I have had several positive experiences. Perfect combination of location/service/price for business meeting lunches. Nice menu variety and an experienced waitstaff sensitive to your needs - speed versus privacy, etc. The happy hour is fun without being raucous. Our group of 12 were able to enjoy some delicious apps and a wide assortment of unique tap beers and high quality wine by the glass. I love it.
