Best bbq beef brisket I have ever had. Fantastic food, great atmosphere, great music.
This is the stuff dreams are made of. Tons of great bands play here too. Soda Gardocki is playing tonight and it's amazing. Ever in Bayport you have to make the stop. Hopefully music this good will be playing.
Crazy little place. You pay up at the counter and then head back to the kitchen area and get your food buffet style. The ribs were outstanding, the brisket, sausage. pulled pork and sides were all good but it was the ribs that got us! The CD'S lining the walls of the bands that had played there and are on sale is very cool. Great way to show support! I wish we'd have had the time to stick around for the band that night but it'd been a long day of traveling..maybe next time!

but, the irony is, it is justa cafe. and a less-than mediocre one at that
This is one of our favorite places. Generous portions and friendly service. This is tops on our list for breakfast in the St Croix valley!
The owners of Not Just A Cafe purchased the old Perro Creek Tavern. They are offering up top notch made from scratch food and I love every morsel of it. My mom is from the deep south and cooks biscuits better than anybody I know---the little gems they have perfected at this place would give her a run for her money. Shut my hole---sorry mama but it's the truth. We enjoyed the mess which was soft tender biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs with some onion and peppers mixed in on a bed of taters. Oh it just made our belly really happy on a Saturday morning. Prices are really reasonable also and the coffee was delicious. I think I will be returning here frequently and so glad it is just over the river and through the woods.

We stopped for appetizers and drinks. The cheese plate was ok. Nacho's were fine. Breaded fried cheese was a nice, fresh suprise. Shrimp was wonderful. Service was provided by a crabby, condescending blond. Could be a great stop if they got a nice bartender.
New owners. New menu. Only the name is the same. If you haven't been here in a few month... Come back. Great chicken. Great happy hour. Great staff. Try the original chicken wings. They are tasty and HUGE.
We waited 35 minutes to order. Service is horrible here. They are not prepared! We had 4 kids with us and they had to wait for an hour and a half for dinner. The manager needs to hire more staff to make sure they can provide netter service. I was disappointed that we wanted to eat local and support smaller cafes here in Bayport instead of going to large chain restaurants.

Loved this place as much as one of its early predecessors, Clydes. That said, tempted to give it three stars so everyone stays away. Fs-W-B (friends with boat) were gushing about this place, they are real steak hounds and this is their new go-to on the river. So stopped when on their boat. Love love love so far: 1) Early live music. Mn Blues Society Road to Memphis winner Jimmi & Band of Souls played here two nights in one weekend! 2) Duck Frits (skinny fries in duck fat). To. Die. For. Well seriously, do not eat them often if you have say, NAFLD, or you will XX. I ordered these despite a successful -30 lbs recently, shared with party, and they were delish. It was worth the splurge. 3) I had a steak/blue cheese crumble salad and it was A-OK. 4) Husband had pan-fried walleye, very good. 5) My pal had Lobster roll, her fav. Made her compare the duck fries with regular that came with her sandwich. Hands down I bet she won't order regular fries again. 6) Despite not having ice cream drinks on the menu, a nice young bartender who hails from across the river made all us ladies a white grasshopper (that's what we called it as he rummaged up white creme de menthe). HOpe it's open year round and continues live blues and other music.
Went here with a group of 8 last night. The server was very attentive and personable. I ordered the steak and Bleu cheese salad. It was good and steak was actually cooked medium how I asked for it. Some of it was chewy/gristly though. The bread and butter they bring out is really good! Pretty sure we ate like 3 baguettes worth. My husband ordered the jambalaya and it was excellent! Everyone in the group seemed to enjoy their dishes. Will be back. Service was on point. Prices are decent.
This is an easy one. First let's get the details outta the way.Saturday lunch. Great service. Attentive. Always hustling. Good senses of humor too. Watered up instantly. Food was front and center in a flash. And good chow it was. My wife had an incredible lobster roll. Luckily we shared because my crab cakes & summer greens with mango & pineapple wasn't too shabby either. Of course the cakes could of been twice the size but why quibble. Overall a very nice lunch. We'll be back.
