An exciting and unique new restaurant and bar where seafood (not "Americanized" burritos) are the heart of the menu. Their fish and shrimp dishes are delicious - I am an especially big fan of the Pescado a la Veracruzana and the shrimp tacos. If you're a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy who's looking for something more "traditional" - look no further than their Tabla de Chuleta ... this is more or less a pork fajita but better than any other joint around. Be sure to order their fresh guac with your complimentary chips (they make it fresh every day and it's wonderful) and don't be afraid to let your server make a recommendation for a speciality cocktail. Finally, just enjoy the atmosphere and decor of the place. It's unique and classy but very casual. Don't miss it!

This place is great. I've only been here a few times but have to say that the fish tacos are insanely good for the Midwest. Best place to eat in Austin.

Great example of a hidden gem! Great atmosphere and service. I am not one that eats seafood, so if that is your thing try their fish or shrimp tacos. The real gem here are their traditional Mexican tacos served on a tabla (board). You get a taste of homemade corn tortillas and a build it yourself idea that includes: diced onions, cilantro, and the meat of your choice. I highly recommend the el pastor, or their delicious marinated chicken. A simple touch that brought me back to my roots and growing up eating fresh traditional tacos. Highly recommended!

Of all the Mexican restaurants in Austin, this seems to be a rather popular one for providing a more authentic cuisine. I personally prefer others in town but this is definitely worth checking out to see for yourself. The food was decent but it seemed to me that the price was a tad high for what was offered. If you like authentic Mexican cuisine, this place is definitely worth giving a shot!

Great food, nice atmosphere, good margaritas. Totally was worth driving 20 minutes out of our way. We'll be back. Had fish tacos :Awesome, pork chop and bacon tacos - ok- in hindsight, why did we think those would be great ?!

We've been there a couple of times now, and the review would be the same each time. Food is absolutely incredible and really fresh. The shrimp ceviche tasted exactly like some that I had in Cozumel in 2010 and haven't been able to find since. The mahi mahi fish tacos are simply out of this world, and better than ANY fish tacos I have EVER had, anywhere. The specialty cocktail menu is awesome, and even the garnishes for the drinks are freshly cut for each drink. You need to check this place out, you will not be sorry.

Best restaurant in Austin. Especially love the momias and the shrimp tacos. They also have the best cocktails -- and $4 happy hour drink specials.

I'd recommend for an out of the ordinary choice of restaurants in Austin. Friendly, inviting and well done.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
