Super friendly service, great food, and a good atmosphere. Typical Chinese setting but the manager has brought out food out timely, was super polite, and asked us how our first time was. If you're in or near grandville, check this place out. My go to Chinese restaurant!

We love this place. It is a well-kept secret due to it's location (kinda tucked away at the end of a strip mall situated about 100 yards off the road). The egg drop soup is delicious and all of the food is made from fresh high quality ingredients. The owners are from the Canton province of China and so there is a lot of food from that province available. We discovered it by accident and now eat there quite often. Moon, the owner, will remember your name after your first visit!

I ordered the General Tso's Dinner. I was horrible. the chicken was very low quality, the flavor was way off and the soup was more like a vegetable soup, I am from out of town and would never recommend this horrible food to my worst enemy!

It was really expensive. 27 $ for two dinner plates that were mediocre at best.

I LOVE this place. Their Almond Boneless Chicken is incredible. They make everything themselves, it's not just another Gordon Foods chinese restaurant. You have to eat here!!! They do have a lunch buffet with about 4-5 entrees plus the usual egg rolls, rancgoons, veggies, etc., etc., so it's a nice diversion from 50 choices at the typical AYCE buffets, and the food is SO much better because of it. Note- they are closed on Monday...

The food was your standard Chinese, the wonton soup is good as is the chicken fried rice. The service was wonderful and friendly. I would recommend the dinner specials as best bang for your buck during the evening. Their lunch specials are on point with price and quantity.

What can I say, I've ate here for at least 7 years now, it's your standard americanized chinese food. Their menu is fairly expansive, the food is always fresh, and the service is excellent. Though, you should be aware, the soups, they're really thick, and some people are turned off by that.

we LOVE the beef lo mien there. at first i was thinking their large lo mien is quite pricey, (cant remember if its 8/9 dollars), but we truly think its the best lo mien we ever had so far. i remember my husband tried their almond chicken, wasn't bad, but not as impressive as their lo mien. also they serve their food relatively quickly.

I went to try this place today after reading all of the great reviews. I had the Hawaiian chicken lunch combo. It was accompanied with a soup, egg roll, and a crab rangoon. The soup was a little disappointing in my opinion. It was a little bland and resembled chicken noodle soup too much. I also didn't care too much for the egg roll nor crab rangoon. However, the Hawaiian chicken was really good. The pineapple flavor was not over powering in the sauce and the chicken was nicely cooked. The overall dish had a nice sweet, spicy, and tangy touch to it; it reminded me of an elegant spin on bourbon chicken. If you enjoy bourbon chicken, I think you will enjoy this dish. It was a little too sweet for my taste but still great overall. And most importantly, waitstaff was really hospitable! I'll def come back to try something else; maybe the beef lo mein that some yelpers have recommended.

Great Lakes is a great place to go for chinese food. I love absolutely everything that I have gotten there with the exception of the Egg Drop Soup, however they have the best Hot & Sour soup I have had, and the best Wonton Soup. I have never tried the Sizzling Rice Soup from here, but it looks spectacular. The lunch buffet offered on weekdays is good, and reasonably priced as are there dinner specials. Sunday's have an all day special also. Overall I love the food and the restaurant, plus they deliever. The owner Moon is extremely nice, and she will remember you even if you have only been there once.

This place is crazy good. My husband and I haven't even considered going to another Chinese restaurant after trying Great Lakes. I'm not even typically a fan of Chinese food... other places always make theirs so greasy and it tastes like it's been sitting in a pan for 4 hours. Not Great Lakes, though. Food always tastes fresh and flavorful, the delivery is absurdly fast, and I can't believe their prices. We always get the dinner specials, and one order is enough to feed the both of us for a couple meals. The Hot & Sour soup is so delicious, and the Hawaiian Chicken is unlike anything I've ever had at a takeout place. We've loved everything we've gotten, as a matter of fact. The lady who takes orders on the phone talks very fast when ordering, and she's sometimes it's a bit hard to understand... but honestly, it's such a minor thing that it's really not an issue. We always have the same young-ish guy who delivers, and he's super friendly. I highly recommend this place. You aren't going to find better Chinese food in the area.

The best place in the Wyoming/Grandville area for Chinese food. Great selection and wonderful customer service. Crab Rangoon is a must have and their sweet and sour sauce is delicious. There portions are very generous. They also deliver which is an added bonus.

My family has been getting their Chinese delivered from this restaurant for quite a while. Their staff is especially friendly and their food has never disappointed us. They have an extensive menu and acceptable prices. If you like Chinese and live in the Wyoming/Grandville area, I highly recommend you give them a try!

The buffet was fresh and tasty. My friend said the shrimp was the best he'd had in a long time. I think they have the best Hot & Sour soup. The service is always good, prompt and courteous.

Excellent food, the owner was extremely helpful and friendly. We were in town for couple of days, the owner recommended places to visit. She came to check on us several times, love the service, love the food! Wish we lived closer to come here all the time

Super friendly staff, yummy food and fast delivery! I called one evening about 15 minutes before they closed to see if they would still deliver...fully anticipating that it was too close to closing time. Nope, she was more than happy to take my order. Love it!

Being from out of town, we asked some local people where the best Chinese Restaurant was. Great Lakes was highly recommended. Even so, we were pleasantly surprised to find just how good. The shrimp with broccoli was exceptional. When we complemented the owner, he said they buy unpeeled shrimp of high quality. They were amazing! Chicken in garlic sauce was very tasty, and the potstickers were excellent. All vegetables were fresh and crisp and done perfectly. Service was attentive, and food was priced reasonably for the outstanding quality.

The buffet is 1 star. The menu is 3. This place has delivery drivers coming and going like crazy which is sort of shocking to me. If you order off the menu it is alright but the buffet is well below average Chinese fare. Go to hunan house across the street.

Food was average like so many other Chinese restaurants around Grand Rapids. It was not bad but not great either. We ordered the general Tso chicken with all white meat, the almond boneless chicken and an order of crab ragoons. The portions were all really good for the price. The general Tso chicken was made with good quality meat (or at least it seemed). The sauce was order to be extra spicy but had little or no spice to it. The almond chicken was ordered bc of another review saying how good it was. It was nothing special though.

Just delivered my food, which is awesome because not every place delivers anymore. Vegetable lo mein, general tsaos chicken, egg drop soup, Rangoon and an eggroll. It was pricy, but it is a lot of food. The chicken is not as crispy as I like but still flavorful. The soup is standard fare nothing special. The vegetable lo mein is pretty darn good, steamed broccoli and rice are perfectly prepared, Rangoon needs cooked longer, egg roll is standard. Included all the sauces I asked for including actual sweet and sour sauce. I'd order the veggies, lo mein, egg roll and soup next time, even with the smaller portions this food I ordered tonight is enough to feed three people. The service was awesome and faster than they expected for a busy Saturday night. I'll eat it again for sure.

Great, reasonably priced lunches and really good beef lo mein! I had pork with broccoli that was good, my buddy had almond chicken and surprised me by eating the whole thing. I only ate about half of my lunch portion before giving in and attacking the beef lo mein, and that's where it was at for me. I'd recommend this place is you're in the area.

This is a nice restaurant tucked in the back of a shopping center. The food is above average and they have a small lunch buffet for $7. The lunch prices are good dinner prices tend to be a little on the high side. You can request no MSG also, which it's surprising that most Chinese restaurants still cook with it. I can always tell when I've been MSG bombed my hands feel like there swollen almost...? lol The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Delivery and lunch specials on Saturdays also.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
