Wyandotte's Sports Brew Pub has consistently good food and house brewed beers. Today was Fish & Chips kind of day with side of deep fried big mushrooms. IPA's and many many seasonal and standard choices of cold beers go well with the great burgers, fish dinners/tacos, salads and plenty of fresh and filling sandwiches. House made chips, wings and full meals are also offered. Walleye and perch always a good choice either with their beer batter or the dry one. Service is great, thanks Jason!

Went there this evening. Very disappointing experience. The waitress seemed overwhelmed and as a result, she was less than friendly. They ran out of Corona's by 6:30 and the ingredients for their adult root beer floats around the same time. They also started running out of menu items. This is not a place that I frequent. But it was nice for a change of pace. After tonight, it will be a very long time before I go back.

First, half of our appetizer sampler, the sports basket, was cold. The cheese sticks were solid because they were hardly cooked! The macaroni bites were cold under the fried batter. We watched all 3 cooks go out together, assuming to smoke, while our waitress yelled "hey, I have 3 more orders!" while half of our meal sat in the window. When they came back in I saw one use hand sanitizer. When we finally got our food, the burger was Luke warm and my Mexican pizza was cold. Told the waitress and she promised it would be out in 2 minutes. About 12 minutes later, my food makes a return and is still only Luke warm in the center, but I tell her it's fine because at this point my family will be done before I even start. She doesn't check on us for the rest of our visit and we patiently sat there for 15 minutes for her to bring a box and then another 5 minutes for her to bring our bill. Terrible food. Terrible service.

Hands down some of the best fried raviolis I've ever eaten. Friendly staff, clean place. Good food for a good price.

My girlfriend and I stopped on in for dinner. She had the fish tacos, and I had the Reuben. Fish tacos where subpar, just a deep Fried fish on a taco. No love was put into this menu item. Reuben was ok meat was juice but the coleslaw was not very flavorful. I also had a beer that was skunked, then order a beer that was no longer on hand but still had on there menu. Service was good but besides that nothing special here.

Not a place I would ever choose again, but if you do find yourself here - get the fried mushrooms! They were delicious and there were a ton of them. They should let you get 1/2 an order, though. My two stars are both for those mushrooms. We made the mistake of eating lunch here and my wrap was horrible. I think it was a Greek/Mediterranean-type, but it was really bad. I hear the philly cheesesteak was better, but I didn't try it.

How generic and sterile could a place be? Seriously... "Sports Brew Pub"? "Sports"?! The decor was actually OK, but the bartender looked like she'd prefer nobody was there. When we asked "oh- is the Nut Brown Ale by you guys?" The response was basically, "Duh - we're a brew pup." Oh - and the beer sucks. That's a definite problem for a "Brew Pub". They did seem to have some "sports" on the TVs though. You won't find me our any of our group of 3 back there again.

This place used to have both outstanding beer and food. Sadly since they changed owners, the food is terrible. We used to have to wait for a table during busy times, now you walk right in any time, that tells me the quality is not there. Beer is still good as they retained the brewmaster. Stop in for a beer, just don't eat!

Great beers brewed on site, seasonal and all year round varieties. Plenty of room on the patio during the warmer months but they do fill up fast. Their menu is a step up from typical bar food. Also, free popcorn while you wait. Try the walleye dinner.

First, you have to go to this place for the award winning mushrooms there freaking delicious. Then when you're eating those mushrooms indulge in one of the fantastic micro brews they have on tap. Please try the Philly sub you will be happy that I gave you this tip. The bar food they serve is some of the best you can get around this area. This place is a nice change from all the other frozen food that is serve at other local watering holes. I wanted to start this place on a positive note because the food is so good. The experience I had here on this trip was not enjoyable one. The place was an icebox and the warm side of the bar was closed. We were forced to sit where the door was coutinuing to be open and closed. Everyone had there jackets on while they sat and ate dinner. I couldn't enjoy the food or the beer because of the temperature inside. The next thing that really bothered me was the fact my food sat in the window. I stared at my mushrooms for ten minutes. I watched the bartender, cook, and the waitress pass by my appetizer more then a few times. They were not at all concerned with the way they were presented. They should have been hot and tasty the way their Award Winning Mushrooms should taste. We just decided to eat them because we didn't want to get worked up. The waitress was a little busy because of the eight tables she was waiting on in her defense. The last thing I notice was a gentlemen who walked up with a problem concerning his food. When he walked away a snide comment was made and all the employees snickered. The man was not being rude or a problem and he should have been addressed with a little more concerned. I'm sorry I have to give three stars but, a lot more goes into a restaurant then just solid food. I will give higher marks the next time if things can run the way there supposed to.

I love this place. My wife and I eat here weekly during the spring and summer. The outside dining is great and the food is outstanding. We always get the salads and sometimes switch it up with a burger or wrap. Sports is a must if you want to relax and have a great meal after work or a weekend of yard work.

Sports Brew Pub is a small, neighborhood brewpub in the heart of downtown Wyandotte. The name says it all, it's got all of the makings of a 50's diner, down to the neon lights and 50's memorabilia on the walls. I've been going there for almost 10 years now and enjoy every visit there. The staff is usually very friendly, and the food is always good. But the best part about going there is the beer. They have a few award winning, house made brews that they proudly serve. My personal favorite is the silver medal IPA, its got that heavy hop bite that I like in an IPA. They are also one of the few breweries/brew pubs that can make a raspberry wheat beer and actually make it not taste like cough syrup - kudos to you, my friends.

So my friend and I had a tall PBR at Franks Place and them decided to venture out of our comfort zone and try a different bar. I'm on vacation from San Francisco and even through I was raised downriver things change every year and I defer to him for our bar choices. We walked in through the front door at Oak Cafe, everyone turned their heads, the record player scratched, and we walked out the back door...screw you, Oak Cafe. Tony told me that we could get a great beer at Sports, but that racist Jeff might be there...this wasn't really getting any better...racist Jeff and the worst name I could think of for a bar. The sign out front stating that they had $2.50 blondes definitely helped get me in the door. Turns out that they were talking about beer....Even if the sign had been more specific and read "Belgian Blondes" I still would have been fooled. I admit that I was still pretty skeptical about this place when we walked in. The decor was like a back to the future themed restaurant at cedar point or worse. The sparkly counter tops and sketches of 50's era actors on the wall were definitely not fitting for a place that was highly recommended for its local brews. But I decided not to judge until after trying the beer. Our bartender was super nice if not a bit "special" and let us try a few tasters after I asked her what her favorites were. The beer was great. I even liked the Cherry Wheat (it was typical, Michigan-winter-cold out) as it wasn't overly sweet. Alas, racist Jeff was in the crowd and even though he annoyed me by telling me that he could hook me up with some "slank" I was able to not let him get to me. I don't recall having to knock him out for saying anything racist either, so that was pretty cool too. I didn't have any food so I won't comment on that, but every beer that I had was great, and the crowd or mostly family folks was friendly. Even racist Jeff....

This use to be one of our favorite places to go. They had great beers and great food. Went there about a month back. Very disappointed that the place has just gone to HELL. There was about 2 inches of dust and grime all over the walls, picures and windows. The floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned in over a year and the food was greasy and smelled funny. Sorry to say, that we will not be back.

We recently went here during the Wyandotte third Friday beer festival with some friends. Even though it was busy, we were able to get a seat right away. For dinner I had the Turkey Reuben, onion rings and clam chowder. The food was both hot and delicious. The servers were also attentive and knowledgable on the food and beer. I also had the pleasure of trying 3 of their house beers. By the way, I was shocked at how many home made beers this small place had on tap. I think they 10-12 of them. I tried the blond ale which was smooth going down and had a great taste. I also tried the Hopricot IPA which had a nice hoppy bite with a slight, not sweet hint of apricot to it. And last I tried a couple sips of my wife's Cherry wheat which was great as well. I can't wait to go back and try some more Sport's food and brew. Enjoy!

Really good chicken Wings.. I've been coming here since the place was half the size. It's different owner's now.. not as clean & personalbe as when John owned it, but still good homebrew and great Wings.

We ventured to Wyandotte Friday night for the annual Wyandotte Wine Crawl and were saddened to learn that they had sold out of the Wine Crawl Glasses. Bummed that we were unable to embibe in the festivities we set out to have a fun dinner instead. Sports has a large outdoor patio and since it was a beautiful night we figured we'd swing by. Unfortunately the patio was full so we took up a table in the very '50's dining room. The light green, pink, and silver shimmering booths and chairs gives rise to either a bright 50's diner or a bad acid trip with The Fonz. Some of the pencil drawings on the wall of 50's movie stars definitely lean toward the latter. The staff here is fantastic. We had a great server who was fun and sweet and promptly sent home after we ordered drinks because they were slower than expected... even though the room was completely full. Our second server was just as awesome, but they should have kept the first around because our very simple food order of French Dips, and sandwiches took forever. And when the French dip I ordered came, they left out the French and exchanged it for steakums served so dry they could have been beef jerky on a crusty hoagie bun with melted swiss cheese sans Swiss. The au jus was served in a cereal bowl and could have been warm, flat, watered down Coke. The steak fries were delicious, my meal's saving grace. The cap of the night, as told to our first server by one of my vivacious friends was "This Piesporter is GROSS." And indeed it was, the Chardonnay wasn't much better, but at $1 off for the wine crawl at least it was a deal. I hate giving bad reviews, but the food and wine could not go unoted here. I'd give them another chance though because our servers were truly awesome and that made our experience fun despite the food.

First of all, the food here is AWESOME....the fish fry, especially. If you come to a sports bar, you shouldn't come for wine, so I wouldn't take the first review of this place too seriously. It's a BREW PUB....try the BEER! If they are busy, the food will take some time...the kitchen is the size of my bathroom, so it is hard for them to keep up with a full house. When they expanded, they kept the kitchen of the original place, which was less than 1/2 the size it is now. I think the food is worth the wait, though, and when I go to places like this I am generally not in a huge hurry. Plus, you get unlimited popcorn to munch on while you wait for your food. This place has been open in Wyandotte for years and is definitely one of its gems. The new owners (they have been there for 2-3 years now) have really done some nice things with the menu and the patio especially. If you're lucky, you'll get Annie as a waitress...she is definitely the best one there, but she only works one or two nights a week. This is definitely a must-try!

Sports has been a Wyandotte favorite for many years. While the menu at Sports does offer more than the typical bar menu, the food is pretty standard bar fare. It's good, not great, but good. The beer however is very good, and is brewed on premise. Sports has outdoor patio seating in the summer, making it a great place to get together with friends and enjoy some drinks.

I consider this place one of the best bars in Wyandotte/Downriver area. The food is really good with a large menu and the beer is great. Highly recommend it. It is a regular place my parents go.

This place is cool and the food is really good. Several things for us veggies to eat, and I love their beer which is brewed on premises! Don't miss the fried mac & cheese bites--they are awesome. My favorite beer is their raspberry wheat, but the blonde is pretty good, too. If you want variety, order the sampler! They do have a covered patio when the weather is nice, so you can dine al fresco, if you choose. Like it even more since the smoking ban went into place. Don't miss it!

Sports is the quintessential sports pub in their menu, but they also take it up a notch with their beer. The chicken tenders are some of the best I ever had, even though I no longer eat them... they're spectacular. They also make great sandwiches and burgers, and I can fill up on the appetizers alone. Macaroni and cheese bites, fried pickles, spinach and artichoke dip, and they're all amazing. Now, the beer. Sports has been brewing their own beer for years, and I have not once been disappointed. Their staple beers are solid, and they always have a few rotating taps that continually impress. I strongly suggest you go in for a flight, and try them all!

This place is a very good experience for a night out. First, their food is great but i won't kid you, it's bar food. High end bar food though. 2nd, their home brews are very good. For the beer lover this is a must try. Their beers tend to lean towards the wheat types, but they still have a solid selection. Lastly, their service. This has been the bane of their existence, but recently they've really focused and have gotten much better. This is a favorite hangout of mine in Wyandotte.

Great beer and fried pickles. My cod was good. My husbands philly was a little pricey though. This is the place for a beer lover...Yum

Sports is perhaps the best place in the Downriver area to enjoy fresh beer and a pub pretzel. Their Black Russian burger was very good (although not on the permanent menu), especially when accompanied with a pint of Brickyard Red.

This 50's style diner sports pub is a good spot for the area especially if you like your beer. Inside the decor is a little worn down, but you have to think of it as a laid back full-menu bar. They have a large menu selection and they have Keno, Pac-Man and other arcade games to entertain you while you wait for your food. It's a sports bar so of course they have tons of TV's to watch games on and they get 5-stars in my opinion for their beer selection. I haven't found anything else in the area, besides the Rockery, that features the variety of beer on draft and bottle as they do. I've had a few different things from their menu and I don't think their food is anything to rave about, but still all in all it's decent food. As I said before, they have a good menu selection, sure to accompany anyone's preference. I think this is a nice low-key hang out spot for all ages. I'll continue to come back for the beer and atmosphere.

Reviewers are tough on this place! First of all the beer selection was nice and had something for everyone. The food is bar food, yes a little greasy but still good. I had a Bison burger which was a little under done, but tasty. But again very greasy! I think their menu is too big for them which happens a lot. It's fine for a night out with friends!

Think twice, trust the reviewers. Keep walking. 5:30 on a weeknight with the farmers market going on down the street and they had 1/2 of the indoor sections closed. Frustrating that the bathroom was in the closed sections so unless you knew where it was you had to ask. I must be coming in at a different time than the other reviewers. Waitresses were average. Customers were a burden. Decor was as confusing as the other reviewers mentioned. Very dark and drab and just doesn't make much sense. We were there for food and not beer so I will leave the beer decision up to you. Food was expensive for the quality and potion. Ordered the app sampler (cost was almost $8). The picture is what I received. Small portions and over cooked. Probably won't try again.

Best Chicken tenders I probably have ever had, one of the only patios in the area with good service and good food and they make their own beer...hard to go wrong here, a staple in downtown Wyandotte.

Pretty good home brew selection. The food is good not great and the standouts so far are the burgers.

Wow.....What can I say, This place has GREAT beer. Now I'm not some sort of novice- I go on vacations based around Brewery's, I go on Beer tours, I brew my own beer ! So I know a thing or two about good beer! So... I can say that this place has really good beer! ALL of It ....I Couldn't Find a Beer that I didn't like ! Atmosphere was a little Odd ( we were trapped inside due to weather, so maybe outdoors would be better.) But the beer and food were great !!!

The service was terrible Karen D. Brought my friend the wrong food, the reordered, I finished my meal and Karen come back to offer my friend a different meal altogether because they forgot to make his meal a second time. Yes she offered him someone else's sandwich because the never made his. Altogether we were here for over an hour and he never got his meal. Karen was unapologetic. Tip=000000. Asked to speak to manager. She said there was none here. You mean no one is on charge of this place? I believe it.

The IPA at Sports is my favorite beer. It is similar to Sierra Nevada but with a bit more citrusy flavor due to hop selection. Sports isn't trying to be anything they are not. They are a local brewpub with good bar food, good brewpub beer with a few great ones available including some pretty creative seasonal brews. I'm very lucky to have such a comfortable brewpub to hang out in with my wife and family.

  • David W.

I've really enjoyed their beer selection and was told they make most of their fried items (chips, wings, fried pickles, etc) You get a lot for the price. They offer typical bar food and its good what more could you want from a place like to this.
