Salsa tastes like straight up pizza sauce. The combo I got was really unflattering. Don't go here. Seriously really bad food.

My husband loooves Mexico Lindo. Me, not so much. Salsa's too watery, dishes are bland and the service is barely ok. I'd rather eat almost anywhere else.

I've lived in Waterford for nearly 7 years and this was my first visit to ML. I read all the reviews, both positive and negative, and took each with a grain of salt. Based on the taste, I would say people go here primarily because they have a liquor license. My entree was light and decent tasting but nothing special (Liz's Faquita Fajitas) which was chicken 'fajitas' with onions, peppers, and spinach with a side of black beans and 2 corn tortillas. The black beans were basically from a can, rinsed and warmed, but the chicken and veggies were quite good. Nothing special. And I would totally agree with the salsa assessment of others - it's flavored tomato sauce. There is no substance or chunks of anything in it. The overall quality of the food is fair and the menu is not authentic mexican. I wanted to try something new but I will never be back again. I will try other joints in the area but I still say El Patio's salsa is hard to beat, plus they have dishes like 'chile verde' and 'chicken mole' and 'chicken ranchero' that I can't find other places... like Mexico Lindo. Sorry, but this is just a step above McDonalds.

I don't eat meat so finding vegetarian options can be hard. They have a dish with a bean taco, cheese enchilada and a cheese burrito - all very tasty. They have $2 margaritas that are really good. Always great service.

This is by far this is my favorite mexican place. Love the sauce and taco shells. Yummy

I like this place quite a bit. Their food is good and moderately priced. The mild sauce is delicious with a refreshing taste, the hot taste like ground up jalapeños mixed with unfiltered tap water. The staff is very friendly whenever I go here too. Oh, and the bar is has tons of margarita and tequila options.

so with all the discussion about 'fried tacos' on the Talk board i made a point to eat at Mexico Lindo ASAP. but i did better than that, i actually ate here 2 days in a row! once with college friends for lunch then again the following night with my husband. at lunch it was sort of busy, only the bar/smoking section was open and there was one waitress who was very busy, seemed to hate her job and didn't really listen to our order. i knew i wanted a Titanico (fried taco) and i also ordered a chicken enchilada however she brought me a beef enchilada instead, i sent it back. she never apologized. my friend ordered a chimichanga and she asked her if she wanted cheese melted on top and she said 'no', she brought it with cheese and charged her extra for it too. my friend never complained. we were given 1 drink refill and i'm pretty sure she brought me regular coke and not diet. our salsa and chips were never refilled. the food however was great. the fried taco was hot, crispy and nice and greasy. i only ate some of the enchilada because i was so full from the taco! both items were $3.50 each a la carte. the following night went more smoothly. they were busy, but this time there were more waitresses. i ordered a chicken titanico and my husband got a combo dinner; beef titanico, beef enchilada, tinga taco (barbecued beef rolled in a corn shell and fried), guacamole, beans and rice, all for around $10!. he also got a margarita, which was just okay. we only spend $25 including tip, so cheap! the chicken titanico was just ok, the shell was not nearly as crispy as it was the day before, i think next time i might ask for a 'well done' shell. i tasted some of my husband's dinner too, the tinga taco was interesting, it was cooked like a flauta but had barbecued beef inside. and the guacamole was so good! the beans and rice were just ok. oh, and they did add chicken flautas to the menu, but you can't order them a la carte you have to get the dinner which is 2 flautas with beans and rice, which sucks because i just wanted one! maybe i will try this next time when i am really hungry. the service was really good and we were given refills quickly. overall i still love Mexico Lindo i just think they need more waitresses for the lunch rush.

Some people go for the chimichanga ... others for the california quesadilla ... personally, I'm all about the Nacho Supreme at Mexico Lindo. You'll get the corn chips, beef, beans, onions, tomato, black olives, jalapeno peppers, and sides of guacamole and sour cream ... then there's lettuce and, get ready for it, PEPPERONI. Yes, pepperoni on a nacho. I'm not sure how authentic pepperoni on a nacho supreme is (granted the name sounds awfully familiar to this recovering Taco Bell-after-my-2nd-shift-call-center-job-many-moons-ago guy), but the food is good. The one ding is the salsa they give away .... I have no doubt it is fresh and so on, but it seems more similar to a slightly chunky tomato juice than what I expect for a salsa. Luckily, my dad makes salsa from his garden peppers, tomatoes, and so on that is excellent ... I suggest you substitute whatever you can find besides their salsa. Good food .. decent prices (granted, a lot tastier and cheaper can be found in my hometown of San Francisco ... these mexican dishes and the mexican food at nearby Trini and Carmen's ain't bad).

For so many years, I had dined at Mexico Lindo, but now I have just grown tired of their moderate quality. A lot of their items just taste like they came out of a can. Quantity is also much less than several other local Mexican places, for the price. I always feel comfortable there & the service is ok, but the final straw: the last 5 or 6 times I have been there & ordered a mango margarita, I swear there is NO alcohol in it. They used to be ok; & the normal flavored ones are fine. I don't get it. Not wasting my money there any more.

Good food. Good Service. Great lunch special. I especially like how the place is decorated. You really do feel like your in authentic mexican restaurant in mexico.

Below par Mexican food for sure... Staff is stoic or simply really b***** at the worst. If you like real Mexican food go to el patio

  • Michelle L.

The food is not good just ok, Taco Bell is honestly better. The salsa is purified to liquid, not at all tasty or good unless you like chips and marinara! After the original owners Casper passed and George moved on the establishment went down hill. The bartender Paula isn't very professional, Edgar is a nice guy though. The food is not great & it's extra for everything (sour cream, jalapeños etc.) drive 8 miles south to The El Nibble Nook and enjoy real Mexican food!

I'm Rating this as a for star because of my girlfriend and her friends. They have eaten here for years, so every time we go to Michigan and see friends they always want to eat here. They love their nacho's for some reason. I'm from California and am used to real Mexican food, so this place doesn't excite me all that much. I tried the menudo last time I was here and when it was delivered I was like, "hum what the heck is this?". If you are from CA and eat authentic Mexican food then this probably isn't the place for you. If your from MI and you like Mexican food then this is probably a great place.

This is Tex--Mex, pure and simple. If you are from out west like myself, like spicy sauces, or have had authentic Mexican food, you'll be disappointed. For more authentic Mexican fare, try one of the taquerias on Elizabeth Lake Rd near M59. There are several that are the real deal.

If I could rate 0 stars I would. Salsa was disgusting tomato soup opened from a can dumped in a bowl, chips were stale. The decor was from the 70s and smelled of must and mildew. Even the WATER was disgusting with a nasty after taste even a lemon couldn't kill. DONT EAT HERE EVER! Waste of 30.00. It made my stomach hurt

This place is no good. I live in waterford for 20 yrs and always wondered why the place was so packed. We finally went n first a long wait. No problem as I thought it would be worth it. Waitress slow. Food came n it was over dun. Waitress never came back after we received food to c if we needed anything. I had to track her down to get bill. She asked if we wanted container to take food home. I said hell no. First time I never took food home. Everything was horrible. Dry and over cooked. First n last time I will ever go. Don't waste your money.

There are so many other good choices for Mexican food in the area. The Chili Queso dip is pathetic. Had the Super Burrito and was not impressed. Don't see how anyone could give the food a good rating especially at the prices charged. Try El Patio for better food and value.

  • Karen L.

I will gladly give 5 stars when they change their salsa. I hate to sound mean, but it tastes like tomato sauce out of the can. Lunch and service was great. I will certainly will return (wish I could remember what I ordered because it was really good) mariachii sp? Also, a little bit of a dungeon feel as you walk in. If you can figure out which set of doors to open, and like tomato sauce salsa, this is your place. Most importantly, the food was good.

  • Greg H.

Good food in a dingy, dirty atmosphere. The remodel of many years ago came up short, but the barbeque beef chimi and fried tacos have been worth the trip. Another downer is the salsa, which uninteresting and bland.

  • Sarah P.

If you're a Mexican food aficionado, you probably won't be that impressed. But if you're looking for a warm place with good chips and salsa, and cheap eats, go here. The food is nothing special but it has that "neighborhood" feeling that just makes you wanna keep coming back.

Mexican food is probably my favorite type of food so I'm pretty picky. I was told by a friend that this restaurant was "authentic" but I didn't see anything authentic about it. The decor of the restaurant is older and dingy. The menu is very small with no authentic dishes on it, and the food is just OK nothing special. The Margaritas weren't fantastic either. I don't think we will be returning.....we will just drive the extra bit to go to Casa Real in downtown Oxford, best mexican restaurant I've ever been to.

I grew up on Mexico Lindo. It will always hold a special place in my heart. The bright yellow walls and old Mexican style décor add to the charm of this place. I let my boyfriend make the mistake of ordering a large nacho last week. The nacho was enough food for a few days. So good! For under $20 we got a weekend's worth of delicious Mexican. The chips and salsa are always tasty. If I am in the area, I often stop in for a margarita and (small) botana. The staff has always been friendly.

Iv only been coming here for a couple of years and I'm hooked. Nothing fancy. Its everything you would expect from a regular old mexican restaurant. The salsa is nothing but jazzed up tomato sauce but its good (at least when you mix the hot and mild). The menu is pretty standard. It could be bigger and a little more creative but whatever... The food is good and i still come here often. The staff is great and they have specials every night. The rice and beans are always good and the beef chimichanga is amazing. The decor is dingy and outdated but it just adds the character of this place.

This place has the WORST "Mexican" food not just in the area, but in the world!!!! Their food is SO bland! And so many people like say this place is SO great... WHY?! It's terrible! And their beverages are so watered down, except if you an alcoholic mixed drink, like a pina colada, it's SO sopped with TO much alcohol you can't even taste the pineapple and coconut! Their alcoholic drinks tastes like rubbing alcohol! NASTY JUST NASTY! I'd rather go to Taco Bell!

In a word, "O.K." is about as good as I can say. I had a combo of Chicken burrito, chicken enchilada, and a chicken something (it was a cross between a flour soft taco and a chimichanga). The latter was VERY good. The other two were O.K. The salsa was like drinking bland tomato juice. No flavor at all. The chips were unremarkable, as were the refried beans and supposedly Spanish rice. Overall the meal was very bland. They do have a good quality shredded chicken, which you don't often find. My wife had a taco salad & tortilla soup. Neither looked enticing in any way to me. Service was prompt, but I can't say very nice. It appeared to be geared more towards regulars than those of us just stopping in. Overall, it was expensive for what we got, and I probably won't go back.

It seems so odd that the worst Mexican restaurant I ever visited was in Texas while the best was in Michigan. Mexico Lindo was a staple for me when I lived in Waterford and I do sorely miss those Titanico Tacos now. Not only was the food amazing but the people running the place were as welcoming and friendly as could be. Hands down the best Mexican food I have ever tasted. If you are looking for the standard pre-packaged "authentic" food most restaurants offer, then you are in the wrong place. This is the "verdadero negocio".

So even when I was living in Texas, right by dang Mexico, I never liked anyone's salsa the way I LOVE Mexico Lindo's. Also the cheese they use there is amazing. Another thing that I appreciate is the vegetarian options they have added to their menu. I recommend this place to everyone I know.

Good veggie burritos. The hot sauce is hotter than Satan's balls and the beers are priced at a decent rate.

For Mexican in Waterford, Mexico Lindo is my favorite. While being Americanized Mexican, it's tasty and will leave you stuffed.

Not good! Chips stale, salsa bland. Chicken chimi dry! Cheese hard! Even ice tea was bad.

Mexico Lindo is what it is - everything a "cheap" Mexican Restaurant should be. It's cheap, tasty, and damned reliable. The staff is friendly too, and never pushy. Everything on the menu is good, but Titanico tacos are my personal favorite. Be careful ordering Nachos - the portions are huge! Locals are heavy patrons of the establishment, and it's not uncommon to wait a very short while to get seated. With all this going for it, I'm hardly surprised Mexico Lindo has outlasted many competitors over the decades. Meals are between $5-8 a plate, though I'd pay double! I've moved away from the area, but every time I visit, I make sure to stop in for some unbeatable comfort food.

Went with Jen this evening before her great help with packing for my trip. My margarita was good and strong with, my good and strong friend Patron. Did not taste like all sour mix which is how it's suppose to be. Chips were good, 3 different salsas, I love spicy and enjoyed the spicy one. I ordered the Vera Cruz, which here has sauteed shrimp. It came with flour and corn tortillas and was delicious, hardly touched the tortillas as the rice, fish, and vegetables were more then enough. I give it 4 stars only because Mexicantown is a drivable distance and cannot be beat.

i grew up in Waterford and live just outside but had never dined their until last night. The food was really poor. I'm a big eater and rarely leave food on the table but the food here was so poor I couldn't bring myself to finish their taco. The place is run down and the food is poor. I wondered if I was missing something after all these years but realize the only thin I was missing was very poor mexican food. Avoid.

Some of the best tacos in Waterford-area!!! It's just what you'd think it is, a little family style mexican restaurant. Prices are reasonable, almost all of the dishes are delicious and the staff there has always been friendly for as long as I can remember!!

  • Ivan Z.

From the road Mexico Lindo seems to promise everything you want in a Mexican joint. It looks authentic, real, not a chain, a place where tacos are tacos and burritos are burritos. The building declares inside and out that this is *Mexican* food, and it is unapologetic. Unfortunately, the food does not live up to that promise. They don't seem to have discovered the technique of draining and rinsing ground beef, or properly seasoning it. Your burritos or tacos or whatever are drenched in cardiovascular cement, and the flavor (or lack thereof) really doesn't make the potential health risk worthwhile. Looking for good Tex-Mex? Go five minutes west on 59. El Patio is on your right, across from the movie theater. Trust me, that's what you're looking for.

The best restaurant that I've ever been to. Everything there is so authentic and tastes very good. I like the atmosphere and the hospitality. I couldn't think of much more to a great restaurant.

  • Shelley Z.

Chips came out warm and there were a few salsas to choose from. They were kind of thin for my taste but I mixed them with some hot sauce and it wasn't bad. I've had a couple different entrees there. They were decent on flavor and you got plenty on your plate. I wouldn't go out of my way, but it's not a bad place to stop if you're in the area.

Was average Mexican, the restaurant itself was a bit on the dumpy side. The place was pretty busy though... Is it wrong for me to think "where are the Mexicans?"

The food is mediocre. What bugs me more, is that they closed early the last time I went. If you do not want to work until 11pm, please change your hours. I drove 25 minutes to eat tacos for taco tuesday, only to find the doors locked and employees driving away.

Great wet super burrito the size was good the taste was good I would recommend cutting the tomatoes up instead of slicing them the hot salsa is hottttt the atmosphere in the bar is okay. The margarita was pretty good I enjoyed the Hispanic music. The salsa is tasty. Waitress was very attentive and friendly. Evelyn was her name I would return again if I lived closer.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
