First time here, I got the peanut butter sundae and it was great. My wife got an ice cream sandwich, but thought it was a bit too rich - but that's typical of most ice cream sandwiches. They seem to have some high quality milk, didn't try any this visit but we will next time. Great place!

Been going to Oberweis for years. I was introduced to it in Chicago before they came to Michigan. Everything is fresh and always tastes great! My favorite is the chocolate banana shake. They also put a pirouette in it which is a nice touch. I recommend trying the milk at least once. There is something about buying milk in a glass jug!

Oberweis is delicious and always a yummy treat. I normally get a hot fudge or brownie sundae. My husband always gets the peanut butter sundae (it's so good). The only reason I didn't give all 5 stars is price. It's always over $10 for the two of us.

Headed here last Sunday after my daughters soccer game to cool off. I ordered their frozen coffee cooler, which was almost completely boring and BLAND. Everyone else was happy with their choice, which is why I gave them 3 stars instead of 1-2. Will stick to ice cream here next time :)

Loved the ice cream, clean atmosphere, efficient, friendly staff. Just a fun place to get ice cream! I've been here twice now.

A nice place to sit down and have dessert. They have games you can play. Appears clean. They must have a huge turnover there, because every time we come in to use our ice cream of the month cards, some manager has to come over and show the employee how to ring us up. The ice cream of the month is a good deal if you live nearby. For $20 a year, you get 1 scoop a month, a $3.50 value. For the kids, they get 2 kids size scoops per month for $20 a year. Speaking of scoops, they do make sure you don't get more than you are supposed to. They must have cameras on the employees scooping the ice cream. The ice cream is OK, clearly mass produced somewhere for them. If you want bigger portions, go to Rays.

I just ordered ice cream and there was a huge roach in the middle of it. It looks like it came through the machine. This place can't be that clean. They offered to give me a new one but from the same dirty machine?

First time we've been here. My girlfriend said it was the best chocolate peanut butter ice cream she's ever had. I had the chocolate caramel crunch which was very good. Quality of the ice cream is very good, though selection was so so (in my opinion) and prices for sundaes a bit high (around $5 for a small). Scoops weren't as generous as some places I've been. This is what keeps it from being a 5 for me.

Itz a very family friendly place. Love the varieties that they offer. Only picking and choosing the combinations is the trouble i guess. I chose orange sherbat ice-cream with chocolate topping! Not a smart move! The quality of the ice cream is very good. They have chess boards on the table, which can be a good entertainment for people who like to play chess. I am sure my dad will love that!

Great products and friendly staff. Everything tastes fresh and store is kept pretty clean for the amount of traffic they see My only suggestion would be of they would supply more lactose free products.

A refreshing alternative. This is one of the only places to just sit and enjoy our company and some good ice cream that doesn't involve sitting at an aging picnic table or crammed in a booth on a hot day. The highlight is the ice cream of course, the atmosphere and great customer service. This place is much more that it appears. While a great place to stop by for an ice cold treat, the offer home delivery of milk in glass bottles (old school right?), and other items they offer, catering, party packages, ice cream in larger portions, pies and cakes. Give it a try tonight!

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't get the 5 star reviews. I've been here twice now and my main problem is everything seems terribly overpriced. It's a decent place for ice cream but nothing on the menu is so spectacular that it would keep me coming back, which disappoints me because I saw so many good reviews. I admit I may be a little picky because ice cream is pretty much my favorite dessert. However the customer service has been great both times and they have been patient while I tried to peruse the menu board and decide on an item. The shakes seem to be the best option. The cakes they sell seem way overpriced but what do I know? Anyways if someone wanted to go here I wouldn't say no but I probably wouldn't drive out of my way to go.

Oberweis is a great place for everyone, both children and adults. Yes, the prices are slightly higher than some other places, such as Baskin Robbins, but so is the quality. Yum! Oberweis truly gives an old school, ice cream parlor vibe. It's a fun place to go to on a date, after dinner/movies or with family. The environment is clean and the customer service is terrific. I love that they have board games and chess/checkerboard tables. On a recent visit I also noticed that they were handing out balloons to children. I once asked whether they had any menu items without egg. I have asked this question at other places and have received a shrug and/or eyebrow raise in return. Not at Oberweis. The cashier informed me that most of their dishes actually do not have egg and quickly pulled out a reference chart for me. That speaks volumes, especially since so many of their customers may have food allergies or dietary preferences and/or restrictions. I have been to Oberweis several times now and it never disappoints. Also, how can you resist the cute jokes on their paper bowls!

The best dairy products, especially ice cream! You can taste the difference. The store is always clean.

A good joint for ice-cream - nothing here really amazed me, but nothing to keep me from coming back. Conveniently located, fair prices, and not bad customer service. It is what it is, an ice-cream joint.

Great quality ice cream, milk, shakes, dairy in general. Portions are huge, but prices can also get up there. As in, you leave going "Why in the world did I just pay so much??" I guess good quality doesn't come cheap. Interior is very clean and fun looking (plus board games), staff is very friendly and helpful (samples!).

Super cute place! Very friendly service. I only ordered a single scoop of dark chocolate ice cream, which was yummy but tasted like regular chocolate to me. My biggest complaint is I found my single scoop over priced at $2.99. Maybe I'm stingy but for that price I'd expect a super large scoop. What are we paying for? Maybe the chess sets on the tables.

We'd wanted to try Oberweis ever since we moved here, but we're a DQ family so it took some time. We finally lucked into a Groupon so off we went. My first thought was it was big and bright and clean. My second thought, looking at the menu board, was that it was ex-pen-sive. Think Coldstone expensive. But we were there and wanted to try it...and they did have a decent selection of options and the ice cream was pretty good. The soft serve was meh--I like DQ better. The customer service was good--a manager was out and about cleaning up and organizing and he came over to our table and asked how everything was and offered my son a balloon and stickers, which he loved. But overall I didn't think it was anything THAT special--just as I don't think Coldstone is that special. The ice cream was good, but it didn't strike me as GREAT or worth the premium price.

Love it! The icecream is delicious, very fresh. Best quality icecream by far. Prices are a bit steep, but it's worth it.

I've never been a dessert person but I love some good ice cream. Now, to note, I do have high standards for the frozen milky goodness. My mom owned her own ice cream store the whole time I was growing up - Lick's (no need to make a joke about the name - heard them all) so I expect a lot. Oberweis definitely lives up to my standards. When it comes to an ice cream shop I always order milkshakes. I will sometimes go for a soft serve cone at your standard Dairy Queen type joint, but when it comes to a place of this caliber I always go for the shakes. The way to always order is the following: Chocolate milkshake, made with hard serve vanilla ice cream, super thick. I can tell you that Oberweis lives up to my expectations. Very creamy, thick enough so it isn't soupy but I can still get it through the straw. On top of this little masterpiece is homemade whipped cream and a chocolate pirouline stick. Definitely a great addition. I highly recommend this shake or any other products in this store. They have a great little dairy shop (note: They don't have organic products but the cows are raised & fed naturally) and a great program for recycling their glass milk bottles. All in all a great little dairy stop! *please note - the shakes are a wee bit expensive so get out that extra change & enjoy!

Now... just to start things off... I should tell you that I am a big fan of Ice Cream in general. I grew up going to places like Dairy Queen, Baskin Robbins, A & W (gotta love that Root Beer), and even Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor's (God rest their soles, although there are apparently some still out on the west coast). I'll eat Ice Cream for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack... doesn't matter what time of day, I love the stuff. What I "LOVE" about Oberweis is #1. The quality of their ice cream (something that even someone who rated the Royal Oak store a 2 out of 5 even had to admit was good) and #2. They serve your ice cream in a nice glass dish or goblet (or whatever) and you get to eat it with real silverware (as apposed to the infamous pink plastic spoon from that OTHER place). Believe me... this DOES make a difference. I'd almost forgotten how nice it is to just sit there and enjoy your ice cream in a REAL GLASS. How quaint... who would've thunk it?? Now... I'm also a HUGE fan of "Erma's frozen custard"... which isn't too far from this place by the way... but, comparing the two is really like trying to compare apples to oranges. You just don't do it. "Erma's" is truly THE BEST in the frozen custard market. Plus, I love how they have different flavor's every week, but when it comes to traditional hand scooped ice cream... Oberweis is tops!! And, they'll even make you a shake out of ANY FLAVOR of ice cream that they have... I LOVE THAT!! If you are an Ice Cream lover like myself, you've just got to try this place... just make sure to EAT IN and enjoy your ice cream in a real glass with a real spoon. I think you get a little more (in quantity) that way too!! Oh yea... I certainly would've given this place a 5 out of 5 just based on how good their Ice Cream is, but they are a bit on the pricey side (especially when compared to a place like Dairy Queen). But, I believe that when it comes to quality, you get what you pay for... and that is most certainly true when it comes to this place. Give 'em a try!!
