Went here for the Sunday brunch...well worth my money. I must have went back up for 4ths, and 5ths....a chef will make you any omlette you want with all the trimmings, there are vats of carmel pancakes, chocolate mousse, pastries, and much much more. The only thing that I thought was kinda lousy was I ordered a bloody mary and the waiter directed me to the 'bloody mary bar' I just wanted someone to make mine for me...being that early on sunday they were lucky I could walk myself into the place...so i had to decide between like 8 different fixings and all that crap then wait for a bartender to help me mix it. I noticed a table next to me get bloody mary's directly from the server-also in much larger glasses....I mentioned it to him and he made it seem like no big deal.

It's good. I have been there a few times for lunch...but this week, I have to say that the blackened steak lunch was amazing!!

We sat at the bar. We each had a house salad and it was great. The apples, walnuts, and blue cheese are a great combo. We split the lobster mac & cheese and it was great. We look forward to returning. Next time we'll make reservations and request a booth.

we met up with some friends for dinner Saturday night & truth be told it was a lot of fun, good company & conversation, but this is a restaurant review not a face-book page & this meal at Kruse & Muer had elements of pretty much everything i dislike when eating out. Our Waiter for the meal must have had 30 cups of coffee or 20 Red Bulls before starting work or at the very least have too many tables to wait because he exhibited such a serious stress level that everyone on the table noticed & commented, it should never happen that waitstaff are too high strung to provide a proper level of service. My wife & i ordered a shared Calamari appetizer which was covered in Buffalo sauce, actually not too bad. For entrees we ordered Blackened Mahi Mahi which promised to be "Fresh" but appeared looking like those frozen wrapped in plastic (2 to a pack) Fillets that i buy at Meijers for $8.If this fish was actually cooked in a blackened style it was so slight as to be non existent. The fish was preceded by a salad & came served with a medley of vegetables & Rice. My wife immediately commented to the waiter that she thought on the menu the dish came with Cole slaw, he said yes it does but "I" figured you would want salad instead!!!! Frankly we were so dumb struck by this answer that we didn't even respond before he left! Reading Yelp reviews it seemed the Pizza was well liked so i ordered a Jamaican Chicken Jerk individual Pizza ( I love Pizza but i am counting calories this year & this was only my 2nd Pizza of 2010 so i ordered with great anticipation) what was delivered was a total mess, i don't know if this was trying to be Chicago Deep dish or was fluffed up New York Style, but the base & Toppings were just Turgid!!!! The Jamaican Jerk Chicken tasted more like fried in Peanut Butter, Honey, molasses & Vomit Chicken. I wanted to gag from the first mouthful onwards, i cant remember the last time i ordered something so awful tasting. We also ordered a bottle of Mohua Sauvignon Blanc from NZ which was pretty good value, the Waiter after serving the 1st glass placed the wine in a bucket that was not reachable from the table & never again during the meal tried to refill glasses!! So it became self serve from then on!! I vacillated between 1 & 2 stars because although the evening out was great fun, that was in spite of Kruse & Muer & not because of them. I ended up with 2 stars because the decor is very nice, it is a welcoming place, the service was well intended but sadly not professional & the appetizer at least was OK.

Had dinner at K&M last night and allllmost gave them a 5/5. My meal was about as good and it could have been. I went with the cheese stuffed tortellini with tomatoes, spinach, scallops, lobster, and shrimp in a tomato cream sauce. After my first bite or two I had to do a double take. I was unsuspecting of how good this dish was going to taste. From there on I was just trying to savor every bite. Preceded by a delicious caesar salad and the famous Kruse and Muer bread, I walked away very happy. As a side note all the specials had a recommended wine pairing with them. I went with the pairing for the tortellini and really enjoyed that as well.

Had an awesome lunch here today! This is the third restaurant I've frequented in Troy this week -- I'm on a Troy Restaurant Week mission. The customer service here was wicked awesome. I was meeting a friend for a 12:30 reservation and she had gotten there early. When I walked in, I went to the hostess and told her I was meeting a friend, to which she said "You must be Rachel. We're so happy to have you here for your first visit!" That was just a pleasant surprise. The waiter was super nice, as was a manager on duty. The food was great. Since the menu was fixed for restaurant week, I picked from a small selection of choices. I went with a Wilshire salad, vegetable streudel, and molten lava cake for dessert. From start to finish, the food was delicious. The bread they serve before your meal really was great, as others have stated. Salad wasn't memorable, but it was tasty. The vegetable streudel was fantastic -- I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered it, but it was basically sauteed vegetables inside of a filo dough wrap. Tons of food and I would definitely order that again. Of course the chocolate dessert was great, and I'm a self professed chocolate-holic -- very rich and the center oozed of chocolate fudge. Speaking of chocolate, I also ordered the Chocolate Truffletini: vodka and chocolate liqueur in a martini glass that was drizzled with sander's hot fudge. My friend suggested that it tasted like chocolate milk, but man, it was amazing. The prices seemed really decent on the regular menu (albeit I went to lunch and didn't see a dinner menu), starting at around $9 for one of their pizzas. The food was great, but I really do think that the customer service here made the experience what it was -- memorable.

This place is very lucky i do not give them a two star because they really do not deserve a three... I think it still looks like the TGIFs that owned the building before they took over...why is it so damn bright in here on a weekend evening...you can turn your lamp off at your booth if you want... Service was good but the everything was way too salty...bread was too salty my fish chowder was too salty...the mahimahi was average at best...the goat cheese raviolis were average...the calamari was average... I think the atmosphere just bothered me the moment i entered, get with it or you guys will be closing within a few years...and from one homo to another simmer down manager you are not that important...

As usual, Kruse & Muer never fails to disappoint. The food at this particular restaurant was as delicious as all the others and is a really great location being so close to Somerset. A crisp glass of wine and a little appetizer from Kruse & Muer always helps aching feet from a long day of shopping. Or to help ease buyer's remorse. Either way.

Great food, decent value, I recommend the chicken tortellini ala creme. Never a disappointment! Their poppyseed bread is so good!

A co-worker recommended this place as good place for carry out... I called and told them I wanted to place an order for carry out... I was put on hold for 10 minutes... (It was literally long enough that I couldn't hold the phone and had to put it on speaker phone). Then some guy picked up and asked what I was holding for, he said "oh, hold on" ... So I held on hold longer... 5 minutes later someone picked up. Their web site has incorrect info on it... the pricing is missing for some of the menu items, or the menu is written to make it seem like various things are the same price... For instance, I was trying to order the Red Wing pizza... the menu reads: Spinach, Pineapple, Chicken, Red Peppers, Garlic Butter, Tomatoes & Cheese. Pricing for Small, Large $16.95" ...While other things have pricing for small, then large... So one might assume that both are the same price (which is stupid), but they're not.... The salads page has the same thing throughout. I was told it'd be ready in 25 minutes... (25 minutes for "deep dish" pizza would be a record in Chicago).... I left after 20 minutes. I arrived and didn't exactly realize the back entrance of the building was where you go for carry out. None the less, I went into the main entrance, and stood there waiting for someone, ANYONE to walk by to ask... a good 5 minutes later the hostess finally showed up. (And for the record, it wasn't really even busy there from what it seemed). The people behind me were getting all in a tizzy and debating if they should leave before they even were seated. I was shown where to go for carry out (I could've figured it out on my own, i just didn't know if there really was a seperate entrance or not...). I arrived and told the girl of my order... she checked on the pizza, it wasn't ready after all that. I waited another 15 minutes or so to get all of my food. The girl who rang up my order didn't include a bottle of tea on there that I wanted so she had to put it on a seperate charge (very annoying for business people to have to deal with extra charge slips). The bottle of tea was $4. My total for a small pizza, small salad, and 2 bottles of tea was about $28. Kind of pricey for a simple carry out lunch, I thought. The pizza was big enough to feed at least 2 people, maybe 3 though... so I did order too much food, but there wasn't really an option for a smaller pizza. Their house salad is a spin on the Waldorf salad, it was pretty good. The pizza was pretty good too, more like pan pizza than deep dish pizza though. I'm sure their food is great but I wouldn't go back here from carry out based off of the lousy experience I had.

In my top 5 restaurants in Michigan! I love the chicken tortellini a la creme! Their pizza's are awesome as well! Great wine list, and great ambience! :)

I had a great dinner last week! I'm generally weary about ordering vegetarian food off the menu, but I had the roast veggie primavera -- so good. The veggies were crisp, there was just enough goat cheese and the white sangria I had was delicious. And you can never go wrong with that bread!

As a former employee I am sad to write this review. Kruse and Nuer was once the bastion of great food and service not so much at this location. I was at the location on main in Rochester yesterday and food and service were outstanding here on wilshire they need resuscitation STAT! Everything was s l o w....from being seated, to drinks, to placing the appetizer order and then the real wait began. Waiting for our meals to be delivered took almost 45 minutes and our waiter couldn't be bothered checking in with us. Never did a first bite check after appetizer delivery asked for more bread never came, dinner came looked nice but was COLD AND SALTY!! By this time not real interested in dinner so we asked for them to remove it from the bill. They couldn't even do that right...they took one off and not the other...manager came to the table to see if we wanted anything else and my friend ordered a bowl of soup which was good and offered me a future discount of an app and a desert. Don't really know if I'll be back....at least to this location. Poor food, poorer service and this location needs surprise visits from Bill Kruse...or Bill to show these folks how to get it done because they are RUINING everything he worked to build!

I had never been to this location before...however, I knew from the small carry out location at the Village of Rochester Hills the pizza and bread are FANTASTIC....the pizzas are huge and extremely reasonably prices for what you get. The night we went, they had some incredible specials...8.95 for 5 large crab stuffed mushrooms, and what I dined on...2 Maine losbter tails for...wait for it....25 bucks!!! I wondered why it was so cheap, but I had tender and delicious lobster tails for what you can barley get one tail for. It came with delicious red skin and garlic mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. The hubby's tilapia was cooked perfectly and was a large piece for 12.95. This is one of those places where everything is going to be good...yes, some things will be better than others, but I can't imagine anything being bad here. House salads are also unique and come with entrees-blue cheese and slices apples and walnuts with a sweet but not too sweet dressing. Our service was excellent, but the only annoying thing was we probably had about 4 different managers, aside from our server, ask us how everything was that night...I mean the place isn't struggling, we had a wait when we got there at 8 on a Saturday...just an FYI K&M managers...talk to each other and make sure that just one manager comes and does a quality control check!! Prices are VERY reasonable for the amount of food and the quality of food you get, and that is never a bad thing! Haven't had desserts, but I am going to make sure I save room for the next time I go...it's too hard to stay away from that delicious loaf of bread!!! Carb addicts rejoice, you have found your home.

Had a craving for Lobster/Shrimp Tortellini ala creme and went to carryout for lunch. It was absolutely fabulous! I knew it would be good, but it was beyond my expectations. Thank you for keeping up with your quality of food and service.

This is one of my favorite restaurants... It's a bit on the salty side, but otherwise absolutely delicious. I would eat the bread and the Wilshire salad for every meal if I could. I only wish they sold the dressing for those of us who don't live here anymore!

K&M is one of those places you go when you're looking for a great meal with superb service, but don't feel like taking the exotic cuisine route. A pretty staple menu of soups, salads, pizzas, fish, chicken & meats grace their menu. Quality ingredients and delicious bread come with each meal. Sometimes I'll swing by just to buy a few loaves of seed-laced bread to eat for dinner. Sometimes I'll make sure not to eat the whole weekend so I can down well over the 2,000 calories/day allotment at their competitively-priced Sunday brunch. Seriously, the $18/pp brunch is a must, as it surpasses any and all Sunday menus in Metro Detroit. They introduce some breakfast items not found during the other six days of operation, including my favored key lime french toast and creme brulee pancakes, and give free refills on the $20/gallon jug of OJ. A combo not to fear: The Red Wing pizza. The pineapple, spinach, chicken, tomatoes and other ingredients really DO work!

The restaurant was fairly vile. The fish I ordered was fresh, but it was obvious they used put frozen shrimp on my Siesta Key. The rice had canned tomatoes and onions slopped on top of it. The vegetables included out-of-season zucchini and broccoli, which meant that they were frozen, too. I didn't bother with dessert, given that the food was largely pre-made, but my wife got a slice of pie. (Desserts priced at $3.95 should be a warning that they're lousy.) Of course, they were frozen or canned blueberries (also out-of-season) dumped on a pre-made crust (almost all of which she left behind). The service was courteous and helpful, but the food was pretty awful for the prices. The menus were underwhelming, and scrawling in crayon on the table was not attractive to the ambiance. I would avoid.

CARB heaven, the complimentary bread alone is enough to make a meal out of. I've often gone with groups of 6 or more and gone through dozens of loafs and had no appetite for the meal once it came. It's the absolute perfect consistency and just melts in your mouth. Next comes the salad, which I can only describe as a waldorf type salad. I always ask for cheddar cheese instead of the blue cheese they put on it. i have never been a huge fan of blue cheese. I have sampled a few dishes but my favorite is always the chicken tortellini, in this creamy tomato sauce. Absolutely divine and I would recommend it for anyone unsure of what to get off of their extensively delicious menu. The prices are what you expect for a restaurant in Troy, and the overall experience is worth it. If you're going with a group make a reservation, as they are usually full every night.

Not bad. The food was just "ok" and the service was lousy (thus the 2 stars). The waiter came by to take our order and bring our food, nothing more. He never refilled my drink even though I asked him twice. I finally got up and walked to the bar and had the bartender refil my iced tea. Without the poor service? maybe 2 1/2 stars. Just so - so.

Troy Restaurant Week is going on so I decided to take my fiance out for a nice lunch, somewhere neither of us has ever been. I called the week before and asked to make a lunch reservation for Sunday, I was told brunch lasts until 2:00 p.m. and then we could have lunch after that. I made a reservation for 2:00 for 2. We arrived on time and were seated promptly. Then we were told there is no lunch on Sunday and would have to order dinner. I explained what I was told by the employee who took my reservation and the waitress went to ask if the lunch menu was available. It was. But then after further discussion we were told we could only order dinner. So our $15.00 3 course lunch now would double in order to order from the dinner menu. We left. I was very disappointed by this experience.

I have to say, I love this restaurant! The building used to be a Friday's, so it is a bit different inside, but still very nice. There is a large parking lot so it's easy to get in and out. The food is great, reasonably priced and the portions are big. They have a full bar with seating and an extensive list of specialty drinks, wines, and beer. The staff is very friendly and attentive, they check with you often. The outdoor patio is really nice during the summer.

Kruse & Muer on Wilshire in Troy is a restaurant that I visit quite often. With my preferred customer card in hand, I try to visit either the Troy, Rochester or Lake Orion locations on a regular basis. Today was lunch in Troy, and once again the food was terrific. My beef tenderloin salad, complete with grilled vegetables including portobella mushrooms, was terrific. The tenderloin was cooked medium, exactly as I ordered. My friends were thrilled with their salads as well, all three ordering the Michigan salad with chicken. The bread Kruse & Muer is so famous for was continually brought to our table, which pleased the bread-lovers in our group. Unfortunately on this visit the service was much slower than what we have been accustomed to during the week, thus the reason for a 4 rating instead of a 5. Otherwise, this was a nice, satisfying meal.

Kruse & Muer is close to my work so it's a favorite lunch-time / after-work place. It's in the old TGIFriday's building. The atmosphere is awesome. Usually there's not too long of a wait and the daytime bartender (who's name i can't think of at the moment) is the coolest girl EVER!!!!!! I'm a carb-a-holic. So anyplace that serves me bread for free is a good time in my book. But the bread at Kruse & Muer - wow. it's warm crusty, buttery deliciousness and they keep it coming. my absolute FAVORITE THING EVER is their Chicken Alfredo pizza. i actually CRAVE this on a regular basis. cheesy, gooey, alfredo goodness. Their individual pizza is really big enough for two people (4 decent size slices). and it actually reheats (in the oven) really well!!!). Their sandwiches are GIGANTIC. Their pastas are fantastic. And their house salad -- YUM. i'm going to interrupt my self here by saying that i have never been one to let my fruits and vegetables mix. i always felt that they should be kept in their seperate corners. Then i tried the house salad here. wow. it's lettuce, granny smith apples, blue cheese and some sort of a vinagerette dressing. and it is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! writing this review has made me V-E-R-Y hungry!!!!!!!

Was there with a party of 31. We had a limited menu for our group which was all seafood. I am not really a seafood eater but the Whitefish with shrimp cream sauce was excellent. And even though we had a large party the service was great.

Good food, good service, and the prices aren't bad. There are many places around that are more expensive. I have only had one bad service experience, but the manager took care of our party. Also try the other Kruse and Muer locations.

This restaurant is less visible from the street but well worth the trek for those interested in seafood. On a recent lunch (after a quick trip to Somerset), I enjoyed a quick meal that started with their piping hot poppy-seed bread and calamari. The latter was flash fried and served with a lemon butter sauce with briny capers. The thick and large strips of calamari were well prepared with only the barest hint of coating. Next up was an admitted indulgence, an angel hair pasta with sweet corn kernels, asparagus, mushrooms, and oh so delicious seafood. Crunchy shrimp, large sweet scallops, and lobster claw meat made up the seafood medley, all served in a creamy, cheesy sauce. And for the ultimate finish, a luscious chocolate mousse with a healthy piping of whipped cream and marbled chocolate bark. The portions are quite large at this restaurant so be ready to enjoy leftovers, even the dessert. Service was prompt and friendly throughout the visit.

Quality. Delicious food and great staff. Can't go wrong here. Accommodating for 2 or 20, Kruse locations are known and popular for the right reasons. Never a bad suggestion for a wonderful meal and experience.

I am a frequent diner at Kruse and Muer. Their food is incredible. They have a great range from lunch options of fish tacos to dinner of crab cakes or the fish of the day. Their service is always spot on. They are very attentive and friendly. They also have a pretty good kids menu too for family's. It is one of my daughters favorite restaurants! One reason I prefer the Troy location is their tomato bisque soup. It is incredible! They also have the best gazpacho soup I have ever had. We probably dine here at least once a month. I would highly recommend it!

I begrudgingly will give Kruse & Muer four out of five stars this time around. The food is always delicious here. This was my second, technically third time, at this location; I've been to the Rochester Hills (Village) location as well. I first went a few years ago (see my previous review) and the service was a bit off the mark. My second time here was this past Sunday, when I had been assured over the phone that they were serving Troy Restaurant Week lunch; I got there and they were not (they had their brunch menu instead, not TRW) so we left and went to a different restaurant. I was lucky enough to win a TRW gift card this week, for (ironically) Kruse & Muer, so my parents and I headed there today to try it out. Waitservice was excellent, if a bit slow, but I think that's the point (to enjoy your meal). My mom and I ordered the TRW menus and my dad ordered off the regular lunch menu - clam chowder and crab cakes. (he's the seafood fan in the family, my mom and I are not.) I got the Wilshire salad (house salad of sorts - walnuts, blue cheese, apple-pear vinaigrette, I believe, and apples), the summer ravioli, and the strawberry shortcake; everything was excellent. My mom ordered the gazpacho, the ravioli, and the shortcake, upon suggestion from the waiter (the chocolate mousse, the other dessert choice, is always available on the menu, and the shortcake is not). And don't forget the bread ... there's a reason that you can order the bread for $3.07 for takeout (what a random amount!). Props to K&M this time for great food and service. I can't say how often I'll be back to this location since it's the Seafood Grille and I'm not a seafood person, but I'd certainly be willing to try it again sometime.

I went for dinner last night with a group of 8. The staff was welcoming and friendly as we all arrived at staggered times. The front of the house staff was all exactly what you'd expect of a place with an upscale reputation. The food, however, was suffered severely from very sloppy and lazy execution. I ordered the summer catch walleye on a bed of kale, tomato, and corn salad. First, let me say the fish was cooked quite well. I'm quite particular about my fish because I've been catching, cleaning, and cooking my own for about 20 years so I know how good, but finicky, these fish can be. The bad: when my meal arrived there were 2 other orders of the walleye. My plate had a noticeably smaller portion on it, approximately half the kale bed and a much smaller walleye fillet. As I stated before, I fish for walleye and can understand that fillets will be of a differing size. However, there's no excuse for such a drastic difference in the salad. As I tried the salad I noticed the corn was cut from a cob. I knew this because there was still significant chunk of the cob attached to the corn. Personally, I don't like my corn al dente. Further, as I bit into the walleye I encountered 6 bones, 5 of which were 1/2 inch or larger in length. Again, I can understand a few small bones, but whoever prepped this fish was reckless, lazy, and sloppy. I have no doubt a prep cook was in charge of my meal, but the chef let it leave the kitchen and that was a very unfortunate error. In all honesty, the only reason I didn't send my food back and speak with a manager was because I was with a large group I didn't want to hold up and someone else was picking up the check. There are a ton of great restaurants in metro Detroit, unfortunately Kruse and Muer falls well short of that distinction.

The BF and I figured our 2.5 year anniversary was good enough as any reason to celebrate, and we had this gift card burning a hole in our pocket, so let's dig in! It's a pretty restaurant. I did smell a little fish, considering people were eating oysters and the like but some of the other reviewers were pretty nasty and harsh. That's not how Reggie plays. There was a hostess who then gave menus to another guy who seated us and let us know yet another guy would be our waiter. Our waiter's name was Kyle. We were sat at a dinky little booth right by the bar. We were fine with that. We ordered drinks and looked over the menu. I was actually surprised at the prices. I thought they would be much higher. I went with the parmesan crusted flounder and BF went with the seafood pan roast. Both came with rice "pilaf" (and I use that term very loosely). We got our little loaf of baked pizza dough with poppy seeds and some butter. It was fine. I was pretty excited about my fish since Big Fish (RIP) used to do a parm crusted sole I used to die over! Was really hoping for something very similar. Honestly, I was not disappointed in my fish at all. It was pretty and crunchy and cooked just right, not dry. I thought the fish was excellent. That rice tho.... OMFG!!! PLEASE GET RID OF THAT BULLSHIT. A blob of unseasoned rice with some stewed tomatoes on it... I would never let them put that on my plate again. What an afterthought. BF's meal came with that bullshit rice too. His meal he wasn't real impressed with. The shrimp were overcooked to a fault, but the lobster needed about 2 more minutes. It didn't feel hot enough to me with the sauce, and for me all I could taste was saffron, which I don't like and I know that's on me. Meanwhile, on my plate, I was scraping for more lemon caper beurr blanc sauce. One more ladle would have been perfect. During the end of our meal, the waitress at the booth next to us was doing a hard sell on their frequent diners club deal, and leaned against one of the ice coolers to sell this, blocking the whole aisle and making sure to talk very loudly so A. Customers could hear what she was trying to sell and ask about it, and B. Making sure her boss could hear that she was selling. I found this quite annoying. It didn't belong in the quiet setting this place is supposed to represent. Kyle was a very good waiter, and it was his first night so I tipped him a lil' extra... I would go back though for sure. They have a good selection of steaks and chicken as well and I would like to give one of the steaks a try. Just no more rice, ever.

I had a filet that was easily an 8/10. The high point for me was the bread, however. Even during the meal I kept tearing off pieces of bread to eat. I'd go back just for that. We went on a particularly busy evening and it was a long time in between seeing our waiter. That's my only real knock on this place because I tend to go through a lot of refills.

Some of the best pizza in Metro Detroit! My wife and I ordered a large Wilshire Special and a small Red Wings Special. The topings were fresh and delicious, the crust was flaky and soft with a light spice, the sauce was rich in tomatoes, and both pizzas were outstanding.

Made reservation for my husband's birthday and we went last night. The days prior, he had been reviewing the online menu for Troy K&M. He knew exactly what he was going to order, was very excited to go, and I was excited because it was for his birthday and I thought he would enjoy it because he loves good seafood and steaks. The bread was good but we didn't feel it lived up to the hype. Poppyseed are good, but most end up on the table. Immediately upon reviewing the menu, he didn't see the puff pastry escargot he had in mind from the website. When we asked, we were told the item is seasonal and they don't have it. We order an appetizer of gazpacho and stuffed mushrooms. Gazpacho was fine but nothing extraordinary, the mushrooms were bland and very mushy inside. Dinner order for husband was lobster tail with filet medium rare. He wanted a topper that was shown on the website of Alaskan king crab and Bernaise, the closest thing on the printed menu was Oscar Style (shrimp and Maryland crab). The server said they didn't offer the kind he wanted (which was on their website) and she could talk to the kitchen since it shouldn't be hard to just remove the shrimp and Maryland crab and substitute Alaskan crab. I ordered fish and chips. Dinner arrived and we see no adjustment in topper was made, it was Oscar style. Husband eats some of the lobster tail and cuts into his filet, which was medium well. He described the texture as almost like a thick cut of beef jerky with a little more moisture than jerky. The first bite ended up in his napkin. Fish and chips were just OK. I wouldn't order again. When the server came by and we talked about the steak topper, she apologized but said she thought he had agreed to the Oscar Style and I reminded her that she was going to talk to the kitchen. He sent his plate back and she did offer if there was something else he wanted but by then he didn't have a taste for their filet to have one remade. To their credit, the manager took off his meal and appetizer, plus an extra 10%. No mention of his birthday. If anything, I would think the website (used by people for carry outs) would be more updated than printed copies. The manager said he would notify corporate of the discrepancies, but it is very unprofessional to have contradictory information between menu/website. And since when is escargot seasonal? We had the overwhelming feeling this place is trying hard to appear to be more than it really is. Will not return.

I loved the food at the Auburn hills location so I decided to take my boyfriend out for dinner. Not much to say as the 18-ish year old front desk girl ordered us to wait a couple minutes so she can finish texting and gossip. We waited out of curiosity and then had been treated with such awful attitude that we left. I thought i was going to an upscale restaurant...It was so scandalous that we actually found it amusing! :) Went to the melting pot next door and had a great night

There was a group, think about eight or ten, and they treated us very good/ no problems with the service. Everybody seemed to be pleased with their meals and there was enough to select from. And there was the bread.

Over 20 years ago, restaurant icon Chuck Muer and his wife mysteriously vanished in a storm while sailing on their boat in the Bermuda Triangle. Not a singular trace of their disappearance was found and to this day, it's still an unsolved mystery. When I was growing up, the name Muer was synonymous with outstanding dining whether it was Charley's Crab or Big Fish Too. It's good to know that after all this time, the Muer legacy is still going strong and providing great food in Metro Detroit. I recommend their flash fried Calamari appetizer to start with. It has an outstanding, light but flavor filled texture and divine garlic dipping sauce. This combined with their incredible bread and butter will have you smiling while you wait for your entree. I shy away from seafood at most places but Kruse and Muer has recipes that have made me reconsider. With that said, I usually punk out and order the blackened chicken medallions minus the garlic mayo. It comes with fries and is one of my favorite dishes in the city. This isn't a restaurant on the tips of many peoples tongues although it should be. The location is tucked in an office complex at Crooks and Big Beaver that doesn't have the best visibility when driving by. It also looks more expensive than it really is. In reality, the prices aren't that much more your average chain restaurant especially if you go for lunch. The difference is in the quality, fresh ingredients they use. The staff is very well trained and highly professional. Dining here just makes you feel better about life and will give you second thoughts about eating at lesser restaurants in the future.

I went here for a conference through work, and overall, the set-up was pretty decent. The biggest issue was the lack of organization for the event itself. The restaurant pushed our event into a too small of an area to accommodate a party of our size. Other than the issue of the seating, and a rather huge abundance of background noise, the wait staff and the food were great. Although my meal was a pre-planned set of courses, each dish arrived timely and around the same time as the other guests in our conference group. The wait staff was relatively attentive, however, were a bit lacking with their attention to detail as far as refilling drinks were concerned. My shrimp was cooked perfectly, as was my steak. The side dishes of potatoes and vegetables were average, but yet still well prepared and filling. I would be curious to try this restaurant when I am not there for a business-related conference to see if their overall atmosphere and the compliance of the staff is improved. Overall, good food, and a nice location, but some attention to details is to needed for an overall better experience.

I hate to say this but the food is not as tasty and exciting as in the past. I had the perch which is supposed to be flash fried-why then was it limp? There was inadequate seasoning. In short, boring. Last week I tried the grilled chicken fettuccine and again I was disappointed. It used to be that their food was tantalizing with flavor. Something has gone very very wrong at this restaurant and I doubt I will return. Time to find a new seafood location. It seems they don't have the skill in the kitchen any longer. Wait staff is always pleasant and their bread is tasty but a bakery can fill that need.

My wife and I went there to celebrate my birthday and had an absolutely wonderful time. We weren't in a big rush and our waitress adjusted accordingly and gave us plenty of space to enjoy our evening in leisure. We started with a bottle of wine. Allison, our waitress brought us their bread which is addictively good. We had 2 loaves by the time the evening ended. I had the wedge salad and my wife had the Martha's Vineyard salad. The wedge salad was exactly what a wedge salad is supposed to be, a good sized wedge of iceberg with blue cheese dressing with tomatoes and bacon. Both salads were delicious and an ample size. For the main course my wife had the 6 oz fillet with crab cakes and I had the twin 6 oz lobster tails. The fillet was cooked to perfection. The crab cakes were delicious with a lot of crab in the mixture. My lobster tails were exactly what they should be and accompanied with melted butter suspended over a small candle. Both dinners come with vegetables and buttery mashed potatoes which taste good and help to fill out the meal. Afterwards, Allison brought a small ice cream sundae with a candle in honor of my birthday. It was a very nice ending to a wonderful meal. The decor of the restaurant is very nice and we felt the pricing for the entries and salads provide an excellent value for the money. The restaurant was not extremely crowded for a Saturday night and we believe it was likely due to the road construction nearby. It is the kind of place that is worth the trek through the construction in order to get there.

This place has good food, but the prices are a little high for the ambiance & service. Most dinners are $15-25, which for the Big Beaver area is fairly inexpensive. The portions are enough for a satisfying meal. The service we had tonight was so/so. We waited to order & receive our check and drink refills had to be requested vs offered. Their beer prices were $5/$6, which I found very reasonable. The free bread was quite nice as well. I had the Seafood Panroast, which was a seafood mix of small scallops, crab & lobster in a saffron cream sauce over rice. It was rich & tasty! I also had a cup of Charley's Clam Chowder which was had a nice balance of seafood & veggies. All of our table's meals looked good and no one had any issues with their food. Still I give it 3 stars as nothing "wowed" me or was exceptionally over the top good.

Ordered the 22 oz. Sirloin. Was not let down. Tender, savory, juicy wirh just the right amount of salt. Side of cheddar potato hash and green bean veggie grilled combo made the meal exquisite. Furthermore as an apetizer, had the spinach artichoke with gulf shrimp. It is a strong contender for top 3 I've had. Service was outstanding and our server was on point. Lindsee, you did great. Would be nice if they had a bit more variety on the beer selection as they do the wine list. Overall will continue to come back.

This restaurant deserves 5 stars for sure. It's a classy and elegant place for fine dining. The appetizers are delicious and so are the entrees and desserts. They have a wide variety of alcohol too. The food is mostly seafood, so the menu is definitely for seafood lovers. The appetizers make you want to eat more. The staff is very friendly and pleasant. Definitely a winner.

We have only dined here for brunch, which is a typical buffet with omelet and carving stations. I found the food better than expected for holding on steam trays. Gazpacho on the cold buffet was excellent. Omelet was cooked well. Beef was rare as hoped. Desserts were disappointing.

Great meal !!. One of the interesting things on the menu is the seafood combo plates. I got the shrimp and crab cakes and everything was delicious. The crab cakes were all crab and the sauces were great. As a side I got the coleslaw which came with a lot of gorgonzola cheese garnish---loved it !! My wife got the Maryland Chicken and it was excellent. We were there with another couple and they ordered the seafood combo and a vegetable primavera with lobster and shrimp. They said all were perfect. We were there for a birthday and the birthday girl got a free ice-cream sundae that was very tasty.

Wonderful evening. Went there on 11/19 to celebrate our 54th wedding anniversary, Ryan our waiter was terrific! Funny, very knowledgeable on both the food and the wine. He helped us have a wonderful evening. Twin lobster tails served with lightly steamed whole green beans, and wonderful mashed potatoes. RazMaTaz shrimp my appetizer, was superb, hubby had crab cakes equally superb. Highly recommend! Ask for Ryan.

Have about 10 visits to this location. Love it. Tonight I had the chef's special of Copper River wild caught Sockeye Salmon with grilled asparagus instead of rice pilaf, and the veggie medley (cauliflower + broccoli w/ a cream sauce and w/ bread crumbs) for $24.50. It was amazing, and I did chefs choice on the salmon preparation- it came out blackened, yum! The best part about Kruse and Muer that I've experienced are the chefs specials. Seasonal and delicious, it's hard to beat. I remember in the fall having the squash soup and seafood potpie, yum. Jimmy's pile of perch: Awesome, if you love perch get it. Lemon cream sauce surrounds a large lump of mashed potatoes, and the perfectly, lightly fried lake perch rests atop in a tee-pee format. A cherry tomato relish / salad of sorts accompanies it, it's really hard to explain. Fish and chips: More than you can shake a stick at. Killer crunch on them, giant fillets.

The only great thing about this place is the bread... Everything else is so subpar it's not even normal. And it smells like moldy fish in there. Just not my cup of tea.

Service has gone downhill and very disappointed in the quality of the food. For a Monday night and hardly anyone there, not quite what I had experienced in the past. I made reservations for 6pm for five and they tried to put us in the back next to the bathrooms. That area should be replaced with greenery and plants and not for customer seating. Some of our guests ordered steaks and they came back well done instead of medium as ordered. The salads were chopped in huge chunks and some were wilted and tasteless. Someone needs to talk to the chef and line guys in back. After this experience I would hesitate to recommend this Kruse & Muer location without a huge disclaimer.

Gotta love Kruse & Muer! The bread - to die for. The dinner salads - great. The pasta dishes with the awesome cream based sauces - fantastic. The pizza made with the aforementioned bread as the crust - so delicious. The service - very professional. The prices - surprisingly affordable. Some of my favorites are: * The Martha's Vineyard Salad - pine nuts, blue cheese, maple-raspberry vinaigrette * Tortellini & Grilled Chicken a la creme - this is so good that I use the bread to sop up every little bit of the sauce * Chicken Dijon - not on the menu but they will make it for you ... love the dijon sauce and the always tender chicken breast and the rice pilaf * Siesta Key topping - on any piece of fish or pasta dish is wonderful I do like the original location in Rochester Hills (at the Village) the best - but that's nostalgia. This one is closer now and the staff and food are fab!

Really nice restaurant near my client's office. They recommended it for their delicious seafood and me being a seafood lover was all for getting some underwater grub. My client said the Lobster stuffed Flounder was a good choice...I trust his judgement as he is a part time chef. The dish was phenomenal as it came with a side of rice that included cranberries...very good. Vegetables were also a part of the meal as well. The place itself is really nice on the inside. Parking is easy as it comes with a nice sized lot. Service was great as our server Josh was knowledgeable about everything on the menu. The next time I am in Troy, I will definitely be dining here

They have very very good food. Super fresh. Be prepared to spend about $20-$30 per person. The calamari was delicious. They seated us promptly for our reservation, and the service was amazing. They always came back to check on us if needed anything. The bread was also super delicious!

Pains me to give a low score to a dear old tried and true classy place that I love! Dinner for 4 and only one dish was scrumptious. Double date, foodies all four of us.. planned accordingly on menu to share with all four of us. The Alaskan Cod .. basically fish & chips version, bland and crusty outside not with a big crunch. Girlfriend got the pan roasted chicken, came out boring and not too big in flavor either. My husband got a fish and it wasn't great, just okay. My pasta primavera was very good and everyone wanted another bite. The roasted tomato soup was the staple goodness. I was depressed when the bill came to pay that price to be so disappointed.

I prefer this location more than the one at the Village Rochester since it's more spread out and I don't feel as crammed in. The food is pretty good and they have rotating specials what seems like monthly. I always get the pizza and fill up on bread because it's a decent deal. Their poppy seed bread is incredibly addicting and delicious. Their 'small' pizza can easily feed three people. Maybe even four people if you all fill up on the poppy bread. Their tomato soup is very tasty as well. Their menu is more eclectic than my 'delicate' palate can handle, but there are plenty of choices for just about everyone. They have a lot of seafood options, which isn't pleasing to my stomach. Also, crayons on tables. Always a win.

Best non japanese seafood place in the area. Skip this long lines and expensive menus at the places at somerset mall. This place has really good food at standard price for a seafood restaurant. Better staff and waiters than any restaurants in the area. Never had a bad meal here and my out of town relatives always ask me to take them here.

I took my boss here for dinner the other night, and it didn't disappoint. I got the fish tacos and an awesome suggestion of Malbec for wine. My boss got the artichoke dip and her meal was amazing as well. I was expecting it to be packed, but thankful for the snow, no one was there so we got seated right away. The bread is out of this world, and the service was great. Love this place when I get to Troy.

Went for late lunch and early dinner. Had steak which was done well when it was ordered medium. Sent it back and second steak came out the same-dry and overcooked. My friend had salmon which was okay on one side but flat and dry on the other side. Might need a new cook. Waitress was fine. Only 2 other tables were there at the time.

Seated promptly with our 6 pm reservation. The bread phenomenal! Awesome flavor, hot and fresh. The server was very detailed, friendly and informative. Quick service throughout the visit. I ordered the Pineapple Mango Mahi Mahi. Pure flavor, every bite. I also got their specialty house salad and that was amazing. Apple slices and some nuts, with blue cheese and a really tasty vinaigrette. Highly recommend if you plan on at least $20-30 a plate. Some dishes are $15.

Having dinner here tonight. The bar area is not very busy but you would think it was. Service is mediocre at best. The bartender, Scott, doesn't seem to realize that quick service will get him a bigger tip. Lots of dirty dishes and glasses everywhere. Gets one of us a water refill and the other person doesn't. We have been here an hour and still haven't gotten our meals. The food is good here typically. Won't be coming back to this location anytime soon.

I really enjoy coming here because the service is great. Whenever I have a reservation, they always have our table ready when we get there and the waitstaff is extremely attentive and friendly. I have to say, their food can either be really great or just okay. Last time I went, I had some sort of salmon special that had a sweet honey glaze on it that I didn't like. Others at my table ordered the parmesan encrusted whitefish and enjoyed it, and I've had their burger before and really liked it. My favorite thing there though is the bread that they put out before the meal. I'd almost go there just for that!

So my first yelp review. I've eaten at Kruse and Muer a hand full of times. I always order carryout, I've never dined in. Today I ordered the Caribbean fish tacos. Never had grouper before, funny tasting fish to me. Overall the tacos were just okay, nothing spectacular. Previous orders from include the Seafood Panroast which was AMAZING! Also the Seafood of the Angels was pretty good too. Before I had the fish tacos my rate would have been a 5 star rating. Overall I'll eat here again.

Last Thursday (August 15) we went to the Troy Kurse and Muers for dinner, around 7:00. We have dined at this location a dozen or so times and while not exactly stellar, it has always been acceptable and has a rather nice atmosphere. But, our luck ran out this evening and we had the worst dining experience in several decades. The Worst. Our waiter, whose name begins with a Z (be forewarned!) took our order for 2 waters, a gin and tonic and side of coleslaw. Finally, 15 minutes later, just as I was beginning badly dehydrated, he returned with those items. First, let me say that the long wait and then the fact that it was, without question, the worst excuse for a gin and tonic I have ever had, should have been a warning. Oh well. I ordered 2 cioppino dinners, the classic seafood STEW from San Francisco. Emphasis on STEW. Our waiter disappeared with our order....never to be seen again. Never... A full 30 minutes later a food runner comes to our table with 2 bowls announcing "Here's you split cioppino dinners" and places 2 very, very small servings of cioppino down in front of us, whereupon I ask "Did you say "split cioppino dinners"? "Yea, you wanted to split that , right"? he replied. When I told him no, I ordered 2 dinners, one for my wife and one for myself, he says "Give me 2 minutes and I'll get the other half of those" and scurries off post haste. Huh? We are supposed to eat our main course in 2 segments? Is this a new concept they're testing? Let me note here, the glaring omission of any apology. I was about to discover that this is apparently Kruse and Muer's official policy. Fifteen minutes go by and I've finally had enough. I start waving energetically at the manager who is,I am about to find out, totally clueless along with being combative. Great combo. When I stated the problem he told me that those 2 second halves were coming out "any minute". Once again, this is where an apology would have been so very appropriate. Then when I pointed out that we did not even have a spoon to start the first half-dinner (which was now cold), he asked me "what's wrong with that", pointing at my fork. Dumbfounded, I explained that cioppino is a STEW, you need a spoon to eat it. He then told me, no kidding, that "We never serve cioppino with a spoon". Gee, I guess I've been doing it wrong at all those other restaurants. That was all I could take. I said that I would pay for the drink and the coleslaw and we were leaving. He looked at me like he was ready to argue and then walked away. A few minutes later he dropped off the bill. We paid and left. No apology. None. No matter how badly Kruse and Muer's completely mess up your dinner, there will be no apology or compensation of any kind. Worst in decades.

I simply love this restaurant, it has solid food, and the service is getting a lot better! Good Job, I agree it is too bright in here... but other than that it was great! * I wanted to update my review a bit after reading the rude comments another person made. We went there a few nights ago when we wrote this review, and we picked Kruse and Muer because my co-workers daughter is actually the host there. We met this "homo" manager and found him to be hilarious and kind. We were a group of about 12 people and he sat and talked to us for a little bit and found him to be so funny! We aksed our servers (we had two) if he was always this funny and they said that they simply love him. We also asked the host (her daughter) and she said the same thing. So maybe it is you who needs to check yourself, and from one homo to another don't be so rude and tacky in your reviews.

I always have such a good time when I go to any of the Kruse & Meur restaurants. I've been to both in Rochester and the one in Troy each a few times. My recent visit to the one on Wilshire was no exception! They currently have the summer menu running and we both tried a fish dinner off of it. I was lucky enough to choose the Pretzel covered Walleye with some ridiculously good Honey Mustard sauce. Both of us agreed that this was a phenomenal dish!! Not to diminish the Trout dinner - it was also very very good, but the walleye was out of this world. That, with a couple loafs of their amazing bread, the excellent crab stuffed mushrooms (very nice sized mushrooms) and a great glass of Shiraz, made me a very happy man. Great reception when you walk in, excellent waitstaff, food came out in a timely manner. Highly recommend any of the Kruse & Muer restaurants, and Wilshire is no exception.

Back in the day I went to the Kruse & Muer in downtown Rochester and Meadowbrook mall. It was classy and very good. Maybe those locations are still that way. This location used to be a TGIFriday's and it still kind of seems like one. The last time I went there was for brunch. UGH the only decent thing was the granola with honey. Everything else tasted like fast food. Plus, the location is too cramped to have a real brunch. Granite City on Big Beaver has a much better brunch compared to this one. Tonight I was going to order Thanksgiving carryout so I called them right before 7. Benjamin told me to hold as he transferred me back there. He then got on the phone and said they were closed. UGH. He wasn't even nice about it. Snotty. Boo. I was looking forward to it. So what did i do? Called Granite City. They are offering a better menu anyways so I guess I lucked out in the end. With so many choices around, this is not the place to choose.

My go-to place. Not only is the bread amazing, all the food is amazing. The pizza is consistently the best pizza I have ever had. It is always perfectly cooked with quality toppings and it is reasonably priced. Their menu is unique and features many seafood dishes as well as chicken and steak dishes that you don't see at other places. The servers are professionals and there are always managers walking around and making sure everything is okay. Every single time I go (at least twice a month), a manager has come to the table to ask how everything is going. Sometimes I sit at the bar and just have pizza and beer. Other times I take my girlfriend for a classy date. Truly a versatile place. The Sunday Brunch is also an excellent treat. With items like the Creme Brule Pancakes and Maryland Chicken, it's a no-brainer. I wish they had it every single day.

One of my all time favorite restaurants. Any of the Kruse and Muer's restaurants are fantastic but this one is the closest to me so the one I frequent the most. When they first opened couldn't believe that anybody could take an old Friday's building and make it upscale, but they did an amazing job. Love the Martha's Vineyard salad, could have just that and be a very happy diner but my absolute favorites are the Grilled Chicken pasta and the Chicken Tortellini. Years ago (multiple decades) I worked for Chuck Muer at one of the "Charleys" restaturant and the bread is as FANTASTIC now as it was when I worked there.

I took my mom to lunch here as a post birthday celebration. It is close to home and I've always enjoyed Chuck Muer places. It was surprising busy for a weekday lunchtime. A lot of men in shirts and ties. We got a seat on the patio. It was completely shaded so it was the perfect spot to dine alfresco. I was really tempted to get their fish tacos - I have a mini obsession with fish tacos and they were cheap; only $7.99. However, since I am the Coupon Queen I had my mom's free meal coupon she got in the mail for her birthday and if she was ordering a $14.95 fish meal, then so was I. She had the trout dish which was enrobed in breadcrumbs and coconut. It had a flavorful yellow sauce. I had the spicier mahi mahi. It was topped with a mini crab and shrimp cake. The sauce was spicy too. Both dishes were very tasty. Service was prompt and friendly. The manager even came by to say hello. The best part was paying less than $15 (before tip) for both meals thanks to my mom's birthday postcard. My wallet thanks you Mom. Next time though, I am ordering the fish tacos.

As other people have alluded to, the bread is the main attraction. Indeed it's really great. The food is of good quality and not discernably manufactured. It really depends on what you're looking for--it will be a good substitute for your Wednesday night meal but I wouldn't say it's destination dining. I will say thought that you can find some healthy options on the menu here, and feel comfortable with the food. I'm not sure if it's for you locavores, organic seekers, and weight watchers, though you can definitely work with the menu.

Things have taken a turn for the worse. In their regular dishes, they've scaled back the quality of the ingredients, and even gone for cheaper ingredients wherever they can. Like I've mentioned previously, grouper has become cod, I don't even know what cod has become. The only things that haven't changed are the dishes where they explicitly name the fish, like 'perch.' I think if you are advertising 'perch' then you are legally obligated to serve 'perch'. Beyond that, everything is a la carte, now. Were you expecting a salad with your entree? You can still have one, but you are going to pay extra for it. Would you like soup? Well, there's no salad to substitute so you are going to pay extra for that, too. The loaves of bread they bring out are getting skinnier by the visit - soon it will just be one long breadstick, doused in butter and poppyseeds. Portions are still pretty decent, but at this point I am thinking to just give it time - they'll get smaller. I'm not sure if Kruse & Muer are falling on rough times, but I don't feel like they're helping their cause by going the miserly route. Personally I'm not crazy keen on going back.

I have been to this location twice so far. Both times were entirely due to convenience. I do not get the appeal of this place. Diner quality food at midrange prices. Maybe it's their clientele (not going to go into the clientele description). I had some kind of chowder and fish tacos. The chowder was so BLAH. It had around two pieces of fish and it was utterly flavorless. The fish tacos were not much better. I think the main problem is they use low quality ingredients and try to dupe you into paying extra for it. I have no issue with the prices, the problem is the food just isn't memorable at all. Skip this place and go somewhere else. This is the second time I've given this place a shot and I was not thrilled. I would only come here if there was no other option available.

I went to Kruse last night with my parents. My step mom is a picky eater and it's nearly impossible to find a place that she doesn't despise. SO, I picked Kruse and Muer. Can't go wrong here, right? We went in around 7, were immediately greeted by a super friendly house manager named Mike and sat right away. I've been to Kruse in Rochester, but the ambiance at this location is much better. It's also newer and more modern looking. It would be a great place to take a date or have a moderately priced night out with friends. I thought the Caribbean decorations were a little peculiar, but they are supposed to compliment the Caribbean menu. Nothing like a little island love in the arctic Mitten. Now on to the food. They have Ginger Ale and Pellegrino. Bonus. The bread is so heavenly, it's addictive qualities are similar to crack or nicotine. You just want more and more. It's served in a bag and covered in delicious, buttery, poppyseed goodness. Gimme more. The menu is definitely tailored to the seafood lover in you. A chicken or beef person could get a good meal here, but don't bring them here if that's their favorite and you're trying to impress them. I hear the pizzas are amazing. But, I don't go out to eat for pizza unless I'm in a dark place and drinking a lot. I got the perch. It was delicately breaded and flash fried. Served with some lemon caper sauce and a cherry tomato relish over top of mashed potatoes. I love perch and it was just right. It's a good go-to dish. Anything that has a cream based sauce at this place is gonna send you straight to the moon with delight. Period. This a place for fatties for sure. My dad had a caribbean yellowfin tuna. He loved it, I thought it looked a little overdone in some parts. But, I won't eat the stuff unless it seared RARE. The rice was delicious and the tempura asparagus was very nice. Anything tempura=win My mom ended up with a custom made plain alfredo and grilled chicken thing. She loved it. It was actually the highlight of the evening when she announced it was good as we painfully awaited her judgement. All in all, Great place, decent prices, good ambiance, although the dining area was a little noisy. Good service from John. He had a very accommodating, pleasant presence. Definitely a server that likes to make his guests happy and enjoys the product/food he sells. Not my MOST favorite place. But, I'd happily go there any day.

I have been to this location twice for dinner: once in Sept. and once during this month. The bread is absolutely mouth-watering. I have ordered fried calamari for appetizers and they're very good. Both times, I have ordered Seafood of the Angels-a hearty portion of angel hair pasta and seafood. But this time around, when I ordered it, I was a bit disappointed at the utter lack of seafood. Also, when the waiter asked if I wanted soup or salad in the meal, he neglected to tell me it wasn't included with the meal, but when I got my bill I noticed it was an extra $2.75. Otherwise, I haven't had a problem with service.

Amazing food and service. I've been to the location several times and never had a bad experience. This time I came with my sister for a girls night. We got the calamari that had banana peppers, it was delicious and had a lot of flavor one of the best appetizers on the menu. We also had a red wings pizza to share and we had enough left overs to take home for the rest of the family. The pizza came out in a reasonable amount of time and even the crust on the pizza was divine. Service was very attentive even though it was a Saturday night they kept coming back to refill our water and bring more fresh bread out. Shout out to our server Dan, great job!

Went last night for carry out: their Family Feast is $15.95 and includes a large 2 topping pie, salad, and loaf of their bread. It was very tasty, was more food than we could eat and had leftovers for later. Well worth the money.

Kruse & Muer is just not same as it used to be. We have been going there for years...way before Chuck Muer & his family disappeared. We ordered carry-out tonight...Caesar salad, linguine marinara with shrimp, & bread. The salad was very brown. I had to throw out quite a bit of the romaine and add some of my own. The bread is different than we remember, not as crusty and more of a finer texture. The linguine marinara did not have the same flavor as we remember. When they first opened their location at Adams & University we would go there often. You just couldn't get food like that anywhere else. Since we live in Troy, we were ecstatic when the former TGIF on Crooks re-opened as a Kruse & Muer restaurant. It was pretty good in the beginning, but has gradually gone down the last few years. We won't be going there again any time soon!

Not up to standard tonight, nothing went right. \ We have dined here several times before and considered it a good option but tonight it was mix up after mix up. We ordered 3 cups of Charley's chowder and they brought us 3 bowls. We chose not mention it, we don't like to be difficult guests. We asked for a bottle of white wine and she brought a red and we had to ask for the white. When the waitress served the second round of wine she only refilled two of the glasses, had some left and poured into one of these but the third guest did not get any. With only 3 of us, a bottle should be enough for everyone to get a second glass. I asked if they could prepare the lake perch without breading, told her that I had a second option if it was not possible, she asked the kitchen and said that the chef suggested pan frying it without breading and serving it with sauce on the side, I asked her to include some lemon. The perch arrived breaded, deep fried, and serve over a large amount of butter sauce. No lemon. As if this was not enough, they forgot our salads and when the entrees arrived we had to remind her to bring them. The food was acceptable but not "yummy", the entrees were definitely not outstanding. To be fair I should mention that when the supervisor (manager)? asked how was dinner and I said that they had brought me the wrong entree she asked if I wanted them to prepare it as ordered and I could take it home. I politely declined and I did not mention any of the other issues but this was not a good dinning experience. Our check for 3 soups, 3 entrees, and 3 cole slaws ($2.each) plus one bottle of Muscadet wine was $133. before tip but this did not feel like a hundred plus dinner. We are not going back. We can ignore one or two things, things happen, but when they show no attention to details and keep things wrong it is time to move on and that is what we are doing with this restaurant, not going back

Unfortunately that queen mgr is long gone.....as is most of the badass old school waitstaff. However occasional carryout pizza/salad/bread is groovy. Oh, the brunch on Sundays is a total steal.....at least $10 cheaper than ANY other brunch around town......however the lines are long and service is hit or miss. (Like EVERY brunch....) DO NOT GO HERE ON HOLIDAYS/FIXED MENU occasions.......Like most smart people you should do your thing for Mother's/Father's Day, Easter, Christmas, etc AT HOME. You will NEVER be happy going out no matter the "deal". Have you no clue that no matter where you go for brunch on a holiday, the ENTIRE staff does not want to be there....and/or they are seriously hung over/stoned......and most of them have been coerced into working. You Yelp Assholes need to stop expecting great things on holidays from ANY store.

The crispy calamari was unlike any k have had before. Super tender and nicely fried. I also had the caesar salad (too sweet) and the swordfish Santa Fe. While the swordfish was quality (I got it grilled instead of blackened), the crab & lobster cake toping was underwhelming. Oh, and the asparagus was dry and lacked any real flavor. Very disappointing. We arrived about 7:00 and there was a 30 minute wait so we chose to eat at the bar. Big mistake as the bartender was overwhelmed by the various tables and bar patrons along with serving waiter requests. I waited far too long for a beer refill or events place my food order. I'd return for the calamari or the free bread, but the rest was just alright.

Love this place! This location used to be a TGIFridays and when they closed and I heard a Kruse & Muer was opening up in place of it, I was thrilled!! I've had dinner there many times and had large group birthday dinners (for myself and others too)... and once for a bachelorette party that met to have dinner here before heading out to the real festivities. ;-) During this bachelorette party, the manager came over to our table to greet us and chat with all us ladies. He even sent over a couple free appetizers for our table! :-D My favorite items on their menu are the Lobster & Shrimp Fettuccine, Atlantic Salmon, Fish & Chips, Seafood Panroast, and the Maryland Chicken! I recently discovered they do a happy hour with several of my favorite appetizers! They have their Calamari, Stuffed (w/ shrimp & crab) Mushrooms, and sliders for $5! Plus $2 beers and $5 wine and sangrias!! Their happy hour prices and drink/appetizer choices are wonderful. I just wish there was more of a happy hour crowd there... Usually it's just a few people sitting around the bar.

Went for dinner with my family and we had an enjoyable experience. The bread is amazing (best I've ever eaten) and the food was reasonably priced and very good. Not super fancy, but it's a nice place to go with family and friends. The only downside was that the tables were somewhat small. Other than that, I will definitely go back.

Went for lunch and ordered of their specials menu. Waa told the item was 86'd. Okay, that happens. Ordered the stuff shrimp and they were hard and rubbery. Sent it back and just ordered the Razz ma Tazz shrimp appetizer. Tasted like shrimp covered in bad mashed potatoes. I've eaten here numerous times without incident and anyone can have a bad day but what concerns me most is that a manager never once came out to discuss my concerns. The bartender was great so the whole lunch wasn't a loss but I won't be back anytime soon.

Mixed feelings on this review. I have been to this location several times and I either love or ....non love the food or service. They never seem to get both right. Either the food is right on and the service sucks.. or vice versa. One bright side... good drinks ! I also have a love---hate with their bread, its a fresh hot buttery delight, but I can feel my waist line growing with every bite. Favorites ... calamari , fish tacos, blacken whitefish Not so, crab melt, pizza's and Lobster & Shrimp Fettuccine Not sure what to say about the service, some times great and other times non existent and it does not matter if the rest of the restaurant is busy or not. I will be back,,, close to work and a favorite of the boss, but not my first choice

If you have a food allergy - STAY AWAY! I went here on New Year's Eve with a group of four for dinner. As I always do, I informed my server that I have a nut allergy and I ordered a dish that doesn't come with nuts. Our meals arrived and the first issue was that my boyfriend's rice had nuts all over it. Other restaurants have been savvy enough to alert us if he orders something with nuts or just remove it from the dish. Then - the really egregious part... after eating about half of my dinner I looked down and there was a nut mixed into my mashed potatoes. Unbelievable. I suffer from anaphylaxis so they're VERY lucky I didn't eat that nut. The manager came over and comped my meal and drink - but still charged us for the rest of the dinner, which honestly should have been comped too. Obviously, I don't feel comfortable ever eating here again and I would never recommend it to my worst enemy with a food allergy. Clearly they are careless and thoughtless. Save your money and maybe your life.

After many, many trips to Detroit I decided to give Kruse & Muer a try. So now I've tried it and I don't need to go back. The service was not that great. The legendary bread was just greasy...not good when you're dining alone and trying to use your iPad for entertainment. I had the Roasted Red Pepper Soup and that was the highlight of my meal. Did I say the service was slow? I get it, I'm dining alone so the bill will be smaller and it will be a smaller tip. Unfortunately the server didn't realize I would have ordered a second glass of wine and gven him a healthy tip had he not basically ignored me. For the main course I had Grilled Chicken Fettucine. It was okay, but not much Chicken. All in about $30. Not really worth it.

This is THE place for bread. We like to joke that this is "crack bread". Yes, it is that good. Ordered off the fall seasonal menu. Presentation of entrees is absolutely beautiful. Wonderfully cooked cedar plank salmon. However, a little too sweet with all the fall yums together (sweet potato, brown sugar, etc etc). But great in my book. Nice, but family-ish atmosphere. Nothing stuffy.

I love breakfast and I love brunch more than any other meal. When we moved to Michigan I didn't find anyone who had an AMAZING brunch until I found Kruse & Muer. They do a lovely four station brunch that I am still able to enjoy as a relaxing spot rather than an overcrowded, pushing and shoving "all you can eat bacon buffet" atmosphere. I am also able to come away feeling like I haven't broken the nutrition bank with a lovely salad station that is always fresh and innovative. I had dinner there on Friday evening and had one of their fall cocktails - a cherry cosmos. I actually had two. Michigan cherry vodka gets a thumbs up too. The bread is their headliner. I am a big dairy fan (i.e. butter) but it needs no embellishment. Interestingly I had one of their calamari appetizers that I had just had at the Kruse & Muer in Rochester Hills and it wasn't AS good here as there which proves that it isn't the recipe but the chef in some instances that can make a big difference. My salad with apples and blue cheese and greens with the house vinaigrette was fresh and tasty although the blue cheese wasn't exceptional quality. When used as a salad topper, I would expect a really good topper. My seafood casserole was quite tasty albeit heavy handed with the salt. The lobster pot pie was also just a bit different here than in Rochester. All and all a quiet place to spend an evening with my sweetie and a nice meal. Not one but two managers asked us about our experience and the waiter was attentive and efficient.

I came here for the Sunday brunch buffet and definitely left satisfied. The warm foods in particular were delicious, especially the Troy egg stack (kind of like an eggs benedict on hash browns) and pumpkin pancakes (I don't even like pumpkin). The biscuits were also great, as was the salmon pate on toast in the cold section. I was too full to check out the omelet bar, but that looked good too. I only had a few bites from the dessert bar since I was so full, but that was perhaps the one low point as many desserts were over-sweetened. Overall, an excellent value for a Sunday morning. Come hungry.

On my first trip to Michigan, I ate at Kruse & Muer twice in less than 24 hours. First, I had the seafood fettuccine. Lobster, shrimp, whitefish, all cooked in with a tomato basil sauce and spinach fettuccine. MMMMMM! The next morning, WOW. We went to the all you can eat brunch. Anything and everything you can think of was available. Even bagel bites for the kids (yes, I ate some, don't judge me). They have an omelet bar, roast beef, and all that you would expect on a normal breakfast bar. My favorite thing they had was the honey mustard and pretzel crusted fish. That was so good! They also have a dessert bar, so that you can top off your food baby with something sweet. If you are anywhere around a Kruse & Muer, make sure you stop in for the brunch, it is well worth it.

This is my favorite Kruse & Muer location! This is a classic restaurant and each location has consistently the same vibe and delicious food! The main reason I liked this location the best is it seems roomier than the others, the location at Village of Roch. and downtown Rochester seem very crowded and small, whereas this location had space to walk between tables! It was easily double the size of the other locations. The bisque soup and house salad were phenomenal in these cool fall months. The tortellini was as good as it sounded on the menu! Will be back for more!

Really good! I've been to deer lake inn and this place, both have a consistent quality to them. Waitstaff is prompt and friendly. Prices are a shade (barely) high. All the dishes I've had are all very delicious, as is the complimentary bread!

Service was good. Lot of choices on the menu including pasta, pizza and a good variety of seafood, very well prepared. I had the Santa Fe Swordfish with crab and shrip cake and it was delicious. I was a little disappointed that they did not have any house/daily specials.. it would be good to introduce those.

My wife and I took our kids out to eat here tonight and we will not be back! It was a little busy, yes, but not "line out the door" busy. We were greeted by our server Joe, who was less than enthusiastic. Ordering went ok, we ran out of bread. But we didn't see Joe until after the food came. He was always short and rushed off before I could ask for anything. He was less than observant, not noticing the mushrooms that I asked to be excluded form my meal were piling up on the side of the plate and my wife's coke was empty. I will give credit to the manager who came by, he at least tried to make it up to us with free dessert. When I told him that the meals weren't bad, he picked up on that and asked detail. But then the pumpkin creme brule he said was substituted by vanilla was indeed in. To me, he should know everything going on and communication faltered somewhere. (My wife would not have ordered it had we been told it was pumpkin) In short: 1) There was a long wait for food 2) Service was not friendly 3) There was no attention to detail 4) Host staff was very friendly 5) Manager attempted to rectify the poor experience, but his lack of knowledge of what was in stock just added to the poor experience. In short, I would NOT recommend going out to eat here. It may have been an off night, but for "fine dining" that is just not acceptable!

We sat at the bar. We each had a house salad and it was great. The apples, walnuts, and blue cheese are a great combo. We split the lobster mac & cheese and it was great. We look forward to returning. Next time we'll make reservations and request a booth.

I had luch here with my insurance agent who has an office very close by. We had great sandwiches and the service was verty good. The next chance I get when I am in the area, I'd like to try it for dinner.

I recommend the Sunday brunch. Very yummy, but on the pricier side [~30 per person].

we met up with some friends for dinner Saturday night & truth be told it was a lot of fun, good company & conversation, but this is a restaurant review not a face-book page & this meal at Kruse & Muer had elements of pretty much everything i dislike when eating out.

I had a great dinner last week! I'm generally weary about ordering vegetarian food off the menu, but I had the roast veggie primavera -- so good. The veggies were crisp, there was just enough goat cheese and the white sangria I had was delicious. And you can never go wrong with that bread!

We have only dined here for brunch, which is a typical buffet with omelet and carving stations. I found the food better than expected for holding on steam trays. Gazpacho on the cold buffet was excellent. Omelet was cooked well. Beef was rare as hoped. Desserts were disappointing.

Some of the best pizza in Metro Detroit! My wife and I ordered a large Wilshire Special and a small Red Wings Special. The topings were fresh and delicious, the crust was flaky and soft with a light spice, the sauce was rich in tomatoes, and both pizzas were outstanding.

They have very very good food. Super fresh. Be prepared to spend about $20-$30 per person. The calamari was delicious. They seated us promptly for our reservation, and the service was amazing. They always came back to check on us if needed anything. The bread was also super delicious!

By far my favorite restaurant! The food is superb and the service is always great. I always make an effort to order a seafood entre off of their specials menu and have never been dissatisfied. Let's not forget about the bread.... Its amazing.

Came here during restaraunt week... Great choices on menu. Everything tasted great! My fave was the stuffed mushrooms... Very nice and prompt staff!
