So on a scale where Siam Spicy is a full five stars - Penn's Thai is a 3 - and Bangkok Cuisine is like 2 1/2 --- I would say K Thai Express is definitely a solid four. The food was really good - not at all oily and the veg was cooked al dente. I was also given some ground pepper powder on the side for added heat - which was a nice surprise. The service was fast and the guy at the takeout counter was very polite. Overall I had a really pleasant first experience and have had similarly good experiences on my many subsequent visits. I think if you can't make the trip to Siam Spicy - K Thai Xpress is worth a try!

I have been meaning to get to this review for awhile. I eat here at least once a week and often twice. Let me start by saying I love Thai food. I recently relocated my job from Rochester to Troy and it is great to be back in this area if, for nothing else, the Thai food (and real deli.) There just isn't a good Thai restaurant in the Rochester Hills area. Anyway, I did not have high hopes for this little place. It is not much to look at and is in a small strip mall right behind the Starbucks on 16 mile and Crooks. A friend here at work told me to check it out. I am glad I did. I always carry out so I cannot make any statement about the service though everyone seems really nice. I have ordered 5 different entrees so far here: Gang Gai with Chicken (awesome red coconut sauce), Pad Thai, House Fried Rice (comes with Chicken, Beef and Shrimp...better be starving), Pad Pak (really good brown sauce but my least favorite of the bunch so far), and Basil Fried Rice with beef. I have to say that I find the basil fried rice to be extraordinary. Something about all of that basil, green beans, green peppers, and beef all mixed together that is truly remarkable. If you like fried rice and basil, start with this. In terms of heat, they are very consistent though not the hottest Thai restaurant in town. They are definitely conservative so if you like a lot of heat I would order hot or even hot plus. I go medium plus and it is consistently spiced just right to my taste...a little burn but manageable. All in all, K Thai surprised me and continues to do so. The food is just so consistent and very good. I have never seen them have an off day. Check them out, you will not be disappointed.

I have to 2nd Jeff's comment below, the Peanut Noodle Chicken medium is where it's at. This place is always quick with you're food.

This place is awesome!! Highly recommend! The peanut noodle with chicken medium spice is always my go to for lunch. I have tried many different items on the menu and they were all very tasty. The service there is always great.

Been here a few times now and the food is always good. Nothing fantastic but good nonetheless. The pad Thai and the udon seem to be my favorite items from here but you could find much better thai options in the area! It's inexpensive and great for lunch takeout!

I was very impressed overall with this place. I work right across the street and have been wanting to eat here for some time, but never did. The place is small, but looks nice on the inside and seems to be very clean as well. I ordered the Pad Thai with Beef (Hot) and it was better than I was expecting. Let me clarify that. I was expecting it to be good as other coworkers of mine have dined there and said nothing but positive things, but it ended up being better in my opinion. Presentation was great and the Radish flower made me feel like I was eating a fancy mans lunch. Spice wise, it was not as Hot as I was hoping for, but still had a nice kick to it. If you like it Hot ask for Hot Plus. My only complaint is that they only serve Bubble Drink during the Summer time and also they were out of two other drink options I had wanted. Other than that it was fast, affordable, filling and flavorful. I will definitely being go back.

Curry noodle and Tom yum soup. Came with shrimp chips which I didn't eat. No free soup or tea which is ok. Place is small but quick. Lots of carry outs... Very fresh flavors. I was nervous to try it because of the poor overall rating but after a rave review from a coworker I tried it. Glad I did.

The food here is amazing. The portions are generous. Best money I've spent on Thai foods so far.

I loved K-thai but after my last two visits I have to give this place 2 stars. More than twice have I found hair in my food both from the take-out and while dining in. Not exactly what I want in my food. If it weren't for that I would give this place more stars but seeing as how this has happened multiple times and not just once, I will not be returning and suggest people request their curry hair free!

Came on a week day which was lighter than others. Apple salad was great and their curry rice dish was good. Great for the convenience and the time! (relatively fast service granted it was a week day)

Used to be great quality food at a good price. But within the last 6 months or so quality has diminished significantly and prices have increased by like $2-3 on all dishes. Curries are extremely watered down. Not worth it anymore...looks like the restaurant realized they were doing well and now is trying to just make more $ by skimping on quality and upping the price.

Very fast for take out. Relatively cheap, especially for Thai. Cute inside for dining in, and some chairs to wait in while getting take out. Looks like you get shrimp chips at lunch. I ordered the pad curry medium with tofu and thought it was great. The veggies were colorful, crisp and plentiful. Lots of liquid (really would have liked a spoon, only had a fork) and more than enough rice. The spice was what I am used to for a medium. The only drawback for me is the parking situation. But it seems that a lot of parking lots in Troy are crappy, it won't stop me from ordering again.

This place is cheap and decent when me and the fiancé want Thai quick. There are definitely better Thai places out there, but this gets the job done. We've only ever done takeout but they have tables available for dining in. The Pad Thai with chicken in good and it isn't mystery meat! I would like there to be more sauce but there's a good amount. Serving portions for takeout are huge so there are leftovers and a lot of bang for your buck. Their hot and sour soup is amazing! I could eat it everyday! Overall this place is good for cheap and yummy Thai fast.

I stopped by this restaurant today. Food was ok, but the cashier was not friendly at all. She got an angry face even though I asked something politely. Did they recently change the cashier? I thought they used to have a decent cashier before. That's too bad. I gave them 2stars because of it.

Not bad! They were fast and friendly. Good spot to pick up a quick lunch. Inexpensive but not terrible by any means.

My friend and I were starving after running errands all day. It was getting late (about 9pm) and we wanted something relatively quick but not fast food. We narrowed our choices down to Thai or Indian and decided to try out the new Thai Express that just opened up. I absolutely love Thai food and have traveled there for weeks at a time twice. I have eaten Pad Thai all over Thailand and have tried every variation of it. We decided to try the place out, it was very clean, and the woman behind the counter was very nice and answered all of our questions. The pricing was pretty cheap, maybe about a dollar or two less than most Thai places which was nice. The food came out quick and was very tasty, not my favorite Thai food ever (I'm biased of course) and that is isn't why I only gave them 2 stars. Even though it was clean, delicious and good customer service... both my friend and I had horrible food poisoning the next day. She spent all day vomiting and I wasn't any better. Clearly the kitchen/cooks in this place are practicing kitchen standards that might be acceptable on the shores of Hua Hin. It totally sucks that it had to end this way because we were definitely going to go back.. until our fun surprise the next morning! Luckily there are plenty of delicious Thai Restaurants in the metro Detroit area for you to go to instead of here!

Great thai place for lunch take out! I have eaten here before but it was super slammed during lunch hours. However the service is quick and the order is always right, not to mention delicious!
