We have eaten here so many times that I am the current Duke. However we may never return. Today we sat for breakfast and immediately smelled something off. They had sat us next to the bathroom and it smelled ripe. We lost our appetite and left before even receiving our drinks. I mentioned it to the older man at the register as we walked out. As we were driving off, he approached our car in the parking lot to tell us "the four old ladies waiting to use the bathroom said they didn't smell anything" and banged on my car. My son was in shock that he would be ao aggressive towards customers. I sure hope one of the ladies didn't have an accident and were embarrassed because of his questioning. They lost a customer today. Not because of the food but because of the actions of management.

I have never given a 1-star review for bad food in over 140 reviews. Less than 5% of my reviews have been bad, and they've been reserved for bad service. Worst meal of my life. The spinach pie was so salty it was inedible, and I love salty food. The rice served with "tzatziki" was rice served with a tomato and cinnamon mush. Tzatziki is a cucumber yogurt sauce, not cinnamon and canned tomatoes. Canned green beans. Canned. Let's talk about the salad. Iceberg lettuce, ONE cherry tomato, and ONE HALF OF A SLICE OF CUCUMBER. Clearly this restaurant has an owner who cuts corners at every opportunity. The server was nice and apologetic about me not touching my food, but I just cannot even. Diners don't have to be fancy, but this place just.... Completely missed it. Canned green beans. Canned. How on earth is this acceptable? I love diners, but this was bad cafeteria food. From the photos, it appears they serve canned vegetables frequently, including peas. Pass.

So to start off this meal the waitress was very perky and nice. After we waited for our drinks to come, I was very pleased by how nice the restaurant was, there was laughs left and right, very welcoming place. When my food finally arrived, I had ordered the 1/3 pound burger with no tomato or lettuce. But I did get pickles, bacon, mustard, and cheese. Also a side of fries. I started to eat the fries first which were dry and salty. So then I took the first bite into my burger and all I could taste was gristle. I was very unimpressed. After I took the bite I started to eat the bacon, I then saw hair on the bacon. I was about ready to stop eating not to mention I ordered pickles which I didn't get. That is why I give this restaurant 2 stars.

I've eaten breakfast here for years and it's always a sure bet. Christoff's is a busy place so if you time it wrong, be prepared to wait. They offer several specials which are a pretty good deal. The coffee is meh...food service grade at it's finest. I find the waitstaff attentive and pleasant. So, if you're down river and looking for an inexpensive place to grab a decent breakfast, this is your place...just pick up coffee down the way at Dunkin Donuts!

A place that serves breakfast all day automatically gets 2 stars from me. Recommended by a co-worker, this is my new breakfast spot downriver. AMBIANCE: Definitely has a "Cheers" kind of vibe. The place seems warm and inviting, and I swear everyone I make eye contact with there greets me with a "hello" and a smile. The place is a little dated (see DLP TV mounted on the walls), but that just adds to the character. SERVICE: As I alluded to before, the people working here are super friendly. I don't think in the few times I've been here I haven't had a server chat me up about my day, and make me feel welcome. They don't linger though, and they are quick and attentive. They know their menus very well too, so recommendations are always helpful. MENU: I rarely take my offs of the breakfast portion of the menu. I have been there around lunch times (or slightly after) and have had to ask for the breakfast menu. They have daily specials, and lunch size portions of dinner favorites. Again, I can't speak to the rest of the menu as this is mainly a breakfast joint for me. FOOD: The first time I came here, I was recommended to get their breakfast special that is basically meat, eggs, hash browns and cheese smothered in sausage gravy. This definitely did not disappoint. On successive visits I've had their 3 eggs and all meat combo, and their chicken fried steak. I appreciate that you can get toast or pancakes (is that a rhetorical question? Give me some pancakes!). The food comes quick and plentiful. OVERALL: If I'm ever in the area, this is my breakfast joint. And since I can get it all day, that pretty much means I'm stopping by. You should do the same (if you're a breakfast enthusiast at least) Celebrity Rating: Uncle Rico

By far the best food I've eaten in a long time. The place is very homie when you walk in. People are super nice! I went for breakfast first which was awesome! I decided to go back with my family for dinner. Again dinner was great and priced right. This is my new spot to eat for sure! Only reason I gave them a 4 star was because they were out toothpicks! Lol

I personally have never had a bad meal here, the soups are amazing, and the carrot cake was the best I ever had. I've been here for both breakfast, and dinner, and was never disappointed. The staff is very friendly, sometimes a little slow, but I will continue to eat here.

My boyfriend and I were told this place does free meals on your birthday so we decided to give it a try. What did we have to lose? (Besides $25 for poor overpriced diner food) Our server was very nice and personable, although she offered us beer without knowing what kinds they even had. I got their crock of French onion soup and a turkey Reuben and my boyfriend got a Caesar wrap, onion rings, and a cup of chicken noodle soup, which apparently wasn't included in his "free meal". The soup was great, the turkey Reuben would have been dry without the giant mound of coleslaw saving it. And then the icing on the cake was the pie tray that was brought to the table. We made the mistake of thinking they were offering a free desert of my boyfriends choice but after getting the check, realized we were charged $4.99 for a nasty glob of Reese's glued together with cold peanut butter. Would have rather had a Hershey pie from BK.

I had intended to write a review bragging about the 'new' menu. My family and I had crossed the restaurant off our list of places to eat, based on the horrible food. We decided to give it a try today, and were very pleased to see, what was for us, a new menu. The food was delicious. The problem came when my husband went to pay the bill. He was shorted $10, but he hadn't noticed. I had. I sent him back up, to get the correct change, which he did. He told me that the man taking the bills and customer money was not using the cash register to ring anything up. He was simply taking money, counting in his head, and handing out change. I would like to think the person was a new employee who had simply made a mistake...but he was clearly a seasoned employee - if not management or an owner - and I believe that extra $10 he had kept, would have ended up in his pocket. You see such scams all the time on TV. Can I prove his intent? No. It's all my opinion. We will likely go back...but I will bring money to make sure exact change goes up with the bill. If you go there...just count the change you get back.

Great family diner. I came here for a work meeting instead of the Starbucks next to it. I believe in supporting small local business because I would expect the same. I had the grilled chicken wrap which came with soup. Pretty darn good. Very reasonably priced and good service. I do a lot of business in the area and I'll be coming back.

Best breakfast food hands down in the downriver area. Food is outstanding and the service is wonderful after a few visits they know you and your part of the family!! The steak and eggs and they gyro and egg breakfast is great. Can't say enough good things about Christoff's. Im only sad that I had not discovered them earlier!

They have good, fresh food. I live the blackened salmon ... But we asked for steamed vegetables ( no butter) .. & 2 dieters Know when it is smothered in butter! So I just get salad w/ house made Greek dressing. & NO bread (darn it) Wish they had sweet potato or quinwah or. Brown rice... But nope!

Hate to give a locally owned restaurant bad reviews, but this is 1 of my all time worst restaurants. Have been several times, because my in laws go almost every Friday for fish. I put my foot down about 5 years ago & hope to NEVER go back. I have probably tried a dozen different things on the menu, all with the same results! YUCK!!! "Sorry Pete" :-(

The food was tasty and the service was very good. However, the portions sucked! The kids drinks were 6 ounces at most and that was a an upcharge over a pop (to juice). I had beef stroganoff and while tasty and made with homemade noodles, it was no larger than a lunch portions Stouffers I heat up at work. Not much to it. 2 pieces of beef I counted and it came in what amounts to a cereal bowl. The kids food was above average as well but the adult portions make you wanting more.

my husband and I have been frequenters the past year or so and always had a pleasant experience. however, the last time we were there, he ordered the broasted chicken and it was entirely RAW. the waitress took it back and he ordered something else but she wasn't very apologetic about almost killing him. we also mentioned it to the manager on the way out and, again, it was like it was no big deal. we can't even go back there now because all we can see in our heads is that gross, cold, raw chicken. i know mistakes happen in the kitchen but that should never be one of them.

Good home made food if you need a turkey and dressing fix this is your place, their soup's are the best around all home made. They have several authentic ethnic dishes, like stuffed cabbage etc. This is where we go when we need comfort food, hope they are around for several more years.

Went there for St. Patrick's day and the corned beef was amazing. They always have good food and the deserts are always top notch.

I grew up in the Wood Haven area and went to high school there, but hadn't been in to the restaurant in quite some time. The food there when I was younger was what I'd refer to as "average", but often the service seemed to somewhat make up for that. Unfortunately, when recently visiting some friends in the area, the food still wasn't much more thank "ok" and the service wasn't all that impressive either. No one was really rude, but when my wife has to approach the waitresses for coffee on multiple occasions and we can hear the man who owns the place yelling from the back room on more than one occasion it just didn't seem to be run very well. Next time maybe we'll check down the street at Olga's and see how their food is. I've heard good things about them and I certainly wouldn't want to subject my family to this place again. The food wasn't really what I'd call "aweful", just average as I've said before above, but the over all experience deserves a far lower rating. However, I like to think that there's good in everyone and that maybe I just came on a bad day, so I'll be kind and leave them 3 stars. This comes with a buyer beware, as I'm sure you can sense from my review. Hopefully, you'll have better luck than we did.

I read the reviews and decided to go and give it a try. Had the breakfast special for $3.89 and we were all very full when we left. My 9 year old grandson had the adult special too which was 2 eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon or ham plus pancakes, toast or biscuit. Fabulous breakfast! Will be taking the family for dinner Friday night. Even my grandson said we need to come here more often!

Certainly not the worst but nothing to impress either. Always "just good enough" which isn't really good enough. Dirty where it counts, if you know what you're looking for. I try to avoid this place.

Foods generally good...prices are fair...deserts and appetizers are overpriced...service is fair not great.
