Nice selection of wine, comfortable ambiance, excellent service and the most delicious fried brussel sprouts ever! I didn't care for the grilled cheese. I loved the multigrain bread but turns out I'm not a fan of goat cheese or throwing too much stuff into a 'grilled cheese' ; I learned I don't like onions in my grilled cheese; lol. Overall I'm glad I tried this very healthy type of sandwich. We loved the option to pay on $2.00 for something sweet afterwards. The little cheesecake was good. I'll be back.

I really like this place . I would best describe it as a gourmet diner. I had the Brussels sprouts salad It was delicious Diverse menu, much I would like to try. Also outdoor seating and close to home

Went to dinner here to try a local restaurant. The highlight was the waitress. She was very polite and suggested some pretzel breadsticks. They were decent. It was downhill from there. Given the prices, we had some high expectations. I ordered the chicken kabab special which came with rice and pita. The plate came and the kabab's were small and sitting atop a mound of rice drenched in some red sauce. Two of the pieces of chicken on the kabab's were raw inside. The rice was very undercooked and the red sauce tasted like a bland spaghetti sauce. The spaghetti my son ordered was bland as well. The top of it all was listening to the chef, who sounded like a nice guy, getting grilled about the schedule and why someone had touched it without the permission of the person he was talking to. Apparently someone who needed the day off for some medical reasons and the two waitstaff working would not be able to handle things tonight which was dissatisfactory to her. All in all, despite the waitress who was very nice, the food was grossly overpriced for the quality, and the back of the house needs to stay there. Unfortunately we will not be coming back. Sad because there is potential here it seems.

This place is awesome! We had a great lunch on their beautiful patio, and it's NOT A CHAIN in SOUTHFIELD. I really hope they do well, as many different restaurants have closed in this location. The restaurant itself is nice and modern, and the patio is great. According to the server, they have nightly happy hour specials, so I'm definitely going to check those out. The service was fast and friendly, and the server happily answered my questions and chatted with me about the place. I ordered the roasted tomato soup which was good, but not amazing, but the salads we ordered were beautiful, fresh, and so yummy. I ordered the special - buffalo chicken salad, and it really was outstanding. I know, you're thinking, "Buffalo chicken salad? How could that be so great?" The chicken was perfectly seasoned, tangy, spicy, and perfectly cooked, the blue cheese dressing was house-made, and the veggies were super fresh. Only $10? Not bad. My Mom thoroughly enjoyed hers as well - the green apple salad with apples, frise, and this yummy, sweet Asian style dressing. I can't wait to come back. Support local in Southfield!

This used to be a Coffee Beanery some years ago, and ever since it shut down many restaurants have come and gone. The Village seems to be going strong, so tonight my sister and I decided to give it a try. When we were walking up to the entrance there were a couple cooks by the side of the building smoking, looking rather unamused. Once we got inside we waited for about 5 minutes at the counter before someone came and told us we could sit anywhere we'd like. Once we sat down a gentleman came to take our order and he was a bit timid...I read a review that said their server was a bit shy but looked pretty seasoned and I think we might have had the same guy. He brought is waters and my sister the lemonade she requested, and proceeded to take out order. I ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich and she ordered a crispy chicken salad, neither taking long to get to our table. The food was good, not great...especially for the price. Whatever seasoning they used to make it 'Cajun' was good but it was spicy...almost too spicy. Our server came to clear my plate while my sister still picked at her salad. Both of our drinks were empty and we were hoping that he'd come back with some refills--not the case. As a matter of fact he disappeared...literally. We sat at the table in need of the bill, a carry out container, and some more water for literally 25 minutes. I clocked it. There was a waitress cleaning off other tables who previously, while we ate, could be heard loud and clear by the kitchen complaining about everything wrong with her job. I politely signaled for her a couple of times but she paid me no attention. There were quite a few people on the patio which is most likely where our server was, but out there for nearly 30 minutes? Really? He didn't strike me as a conversationalist so my guess would be poor staffing. Heated and ready to go, he FINALLY made his way back to our table and says, "So, how we doin?" ...I immediately paid the bill and we left. Like I said, the food wasn't great but the atmosphere and decor are really appealing. If the service was better I would probably go back since it is a nice place to decompress after work but I won't be going back any time soon. When we walked to the car the same two cooks from before were back outside smoking another cigarette. Man oh man.

This is my new favorite eatery! First, the ambience is so relaxing. The warm colors and cozy setup invites me to come alone for a quick lunch, or a date with my honey, or a girls night. I've done all three, many times over. Secondly, the service is top of the line. I'm always greeted right away with a smile. They make sure everything is just how you want it, but are not intrusive. Third, the food is consistently excellent. The offerings are a cool funky departure from standard fare, but not weird, so all will enjoy the selections. The flavors will keep you coming back. Fourthly, the prices are affordable, and Val-Pak offers discount coupons on top of that! They have a nice patio for al-fresco dining, and I heard that live music will be part and parcel of evening dining on the patio this summer. Where else in this area can you get that!! Their beverage menu and happy hour is above the run of the mill too. So that's why I gave it 5 stars. Hope to see you there!

My friend and I was looking for a good place to eat quick that had happy hour. ..of course. Coming off the freeway we decided to stop here since it wasn't fat and we were starving. Unfortunately there wasn't happy hour, well happy hour on beer and wings. We decided to stay and Happy we did. The wings were amazingly flavored. Good ranch and steamed carrot sticks. I had sweet potato fries and they were delicious and not burnt. The wine selection want great but the Moscato was decent. It would be nice if they had more selections on wine and wine specials during happy hour but it won't stop me from returning. The inside is very nice and chilled. Great for anyone to come in and get a bite without the drowning of tv. It makes you talk to the person you came to eat with. Leave the kids at home and go mingle!

Service was very friendly. My girlfriend and I met up there for a Lil girl talk. There were people there but not too many. Glad it's not loud and overcrowded, the place has just the right amount of space for who they are servicing. My friend ordered the fried B. Sprouts. Yummy. Looking forward.

We were pleasantly surprised during recent visit. Wait staff very friendly and helpful with menu choices. Portions not overly huge, but fine for us. Hamburger was excellent. Craft bottle beer choices, wine. We will go back...few good restaurant choices on Southfield. This was a winner.

the fish and chips are good. but oh man, I made a big mistake and tried the ribs tonight and yuck. they were really bad. sauce was just not a very good flavor. there was a green pepper taste to it (I hate green peppers). it didn't help that the ribs were extremely tough and cold like they had been in the fridge and just thrown on a grill for a few minutes but not heated through. definitely not something they should be serving. I'll stick with the fish and chips from now on.

The food was decent but my step daughter and I had a less-than-stellar experience with the waiter. He was terribly creepy (constantly touching us). We will not be returning.

My buddy lives in the area and wanted to stop here for a "guys night out". That really meant dinner and then back home to our families. It was about 5:30 on a Friday when we arrived and I was surprised at how few people were in there. I was a little discouraged by the lack of tvs as Village Bar and Grill made me think this was a little more bar-like, but I was wrong. The inside looks really sleek and seems better set up for a date than some drinking while watching the game. I had the wings per recommendation with buffalo sauce and they were delicious. The portions were good. Everyone at the table seemed to enjoy there food (don't remember what they had because I was focused on mine). I was also surprised to find out they don't have draft beer. There bottle selection was fine, but again based on the name I would assume they had draft beer. Overall we had a really good experience, just not the one I expected. The food was good and that atmosphere was great for a date, but I wouldn't recommend it for a night out with guys wanting to watch the game.

This place was awesome. It replaced Salvatore Scalapini and the food was much better. Really it was amazing. I had the grilled cheese and my husband had the wings and we both said 'wow' as we were eating. The food was fresh and obviously homemade. The staff was friendly. Highly recommend.

My new favorite place to eat out on a workday. Restaurant choices of this quality are quite limited in the area. (Can you name a good, reasonably priced, non-fast food/chain restaurant on Southfield Road between Birmingham and the Lodge Fwy?) I've visited twice recently and everything has been delicous: Thoughtfully prepared, flavorful, unique, "gourmet" dishes at good prices. The burgers are amazing. Cannot go wrong. Fantastic sweet potato fries. The salads are delicious (seriously, not your typical boring salad) and the prices beyond fair. If you ordered the Granny Apple Salad at another restaurant you'd pay more and it wouldn't be as good. Try the fried Brussel sprouts. Normally, I do not care for brussel sprouts. However, these are like, flash fried, so they are light and crispy and deliciously finger-licking greasy and just the right amount of salt. Warning: You may CRAVE them. You may HAVE to go back for them. Lastly, the waiter (Jim?) is great. He's attentive, friendly and funny. Totally relaxed, down to earth guy. We enjoyed him; he adds good character to the place. Since it ceased being a Salvatore Scallopini's, Village Grill is apparently a well-kept secret because it's not as crowded as it should be. I'm only telling you about it because this excellent chef DESERVES to have this restaurant packed every day! I am looking forward to introducing it to my colleagues. P.s. Also has a cute little bar. And, Outdoor patio dining in the summer? Can't wait.

Friendly staff and good service. Had the basic chicken club for first visit and wasn't disappointed. Served on some very good bread. The chips were the topper. Thin crispy and a perfect side. Will be back for other items.

It is nice to go to a locally owned restaurant which has good food, a good location and decent prices. The Village has all of that and ice cold beer! My visit was on Saturday night, April 11, 2015. I ordered the fish and chips which came with mixed French fries (sweet potato and regular) - they were great! The fish was delicious and I had an Atwater Brewery beer with my meal that complimented it. My date had the calamari - she said it was great and it too included the mixed fries. A steady stream of people came in during our visit yet it was not crowded (I suspect this place is still somewhat unknown to most). Our waitress was very attentive and the others that worked there were very friendly. I will definitely go back - I wish them lots of success.

Really enjoyed everything. Started with the Brussel sprouts. Flash fried individual leaves with a sweet maple sauce on the side. A generous mound of tasty crispy goodness. We shared a bacon gruyere burger and the fish and chips. Both great, the batter on the fish was incredible. Seriously, best fried fish I've had. The burger was juicy, had a great sauce on it, just deelish! Our server, Courtney, was very nice and efficient. I definitely recommend this place

Tried the much reviewed fish and chips and brussel sprouts appetizer. Good, but not great. Not worth the fancy prices. As another reviewer said , fish was soggy. Requested a piece of bread with my $8 salad. It was delivered, without notice of the additional $1 charge. Certainly not worth fighting Southfield traffic for at dinnertime.

Our experience was disappointing. We walked from our car to the entrance, the kitchen staff was out back smoking. We entered and waited at the hostess stand for 2 minutes (we discovered later that the man sitting in the booth closest to the door where we entered, was the manager, who sat playing on his phone, and was wearing jeans and a "Village" baseball cap). Once sat I ordered a Pepsi which arrived flat. Our waiter was extremely soft spoken and seemed quite nervous about having to serve a table (he may have been new I don't know, but judging by his perceived age I'd say he had experience). Our food arrived in a timely manner, the calamari was well cooked but the sauce was spicy and the deep fried arugala and cheery pepper garnish was greasy and unnecessary. My wife had chicken wings and I ordered the "Pasta con clams" special (possibly the worst named dish I had ever seen on any menu ever. Plus the fact that the pasta was mushy didn't help things either). The items we ordered led to a conversation about how everything about this restaurant seemed confused. Who has chicken wings and pasta with clams together on a menu? As you may have guessed, we did not enjoy our meal/experience and more than likely will not return. I wanted to like this place, I guess my expectations may have been too high.

I had some time to kill so I came to watch some playoff hockey. I had the roasted tomato soup, which was excellent, and hands down the best fish and chips I have ever had. The sweet potato fries were a great addition to the plate. I highly recommend you try the fish and chips here.
