I went with work friends to have drinks and food. Drinks were great and there were lots of specials. Most of my friends went for the wings, I had the veggie burger and sweet potato straws. My food was good, not mind blowing, not bad. Decent! Sadly, two of my friends didn't fare so well with their wings. Out of our party of eight, the two of them were sick. Service was good, maybe a little overly friendly and casual. Yes, we were a laid back group, but we are still customers.

Food is great and I'm never disappointed in this area. However, the service as of late has been horrendous. If you're going to attempt to take my tables order without writing it down that's great, and furthermore I envy your photographic memory and your ability to retain information. The problem here is that you don't transcend the ability to retain information comparable to Will Hunting and the order is wrong every time, I think its time to grab a notepad. Also, why does it take so long to get the bill paid for? It easily on average takes upwards of 10-15 minutes, whats going on back there? All in all, the wait staff needs to step up its game to keep this place afloat. Hopefully we see improvements soon.

I was not impressed by this restaurant for several reasons. First, although the price is very reasonable, the food was mediocre at best. For some reason the food seemed like it was not very hot. I would not visit this establishment again.

My four year old and husband both raved about this place, so they convinced me to try it out. The wings are a little pricy (about $1 per wing) but thats typical of other chains around here. My cheeseburger was delish. There are lots of choices for kids. They ran out of crayons, and that was the only negative really. Our waitress Sky was very attentive and checked on us thru out the meal. Her friendly service is what sealed the deal, I am sure we will be back soon. This would also be a good place to meet for drinks or to watch a game.

My husband and I were in Detroit on business looking for a restaurant and stumbled across the hurricane restaurant. We decided to try it and we would definitely go back when we're in town again. The burgers are great the fries were fantastic and the wings especially were very very good great wing sauce!!!! I especially loved the garlic Parmesan broccoli. Who knew vegetables could be that good???

Possibly the worst dining experience I've had. Waitress seemed irritated and like she wanted to be anywhere else. Took 10 minutes to acknowledge our existence even though the place was almost empty. We were in a bit of a hurry so we put our order in right away. 30 minutes went by and nothing so we asked for for it to be boxed up to go since we were running short on time. She said they would box it and will have it out "in a few minutes". 15 minutes later we finally got it. Was almost late to our meeting, had no time to eat, and ended up throwing it out. No apologies or empathy at all. Just a lot of eye rolling. Would never recommend.

The Hurricane took care of our group several nights during a business trip. Great food and wings, loved the shrimp skewers, broccoli is awesome, mahi mahi dip with chips is so good and fresh.. Drinks are great, atmosphere is fun. Overall great experience

They have $3, $5 and $7 daily specials. Portions are kind of small (don't get the slender key lime pie. Not worth $6.99). But the shrimp, talapia and not to mention the long islands are awesome!

This place is more of a bar than a restaurant, the wings were good, the Coleslaw was overly sweet with way too much mayo. I ordered home made kettle chips that were crinkle cut. The atmosphere was dreadful. The music they played was so loud you could not talk. And to top it off it was offensive lyrics. I wish that wasn't my first time there because that really turned me off on this place... if I return it would be for lunch...never dinner...

Great food, great service. Very good atmosphere. I always get take out from here also. Manager is very sweet and kind. I would recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a good place to watch a game and enjoy a great meal.

I had high hope for this place. The overall review is; it's just okay. I asked the waitress if the wings were whole, she said they were divided. I am referring to the $10.00 special which is 10 wings and two sides. It was not crowded when we got there however the wait for our food was lengthy. The wing dings I received were nice and hot. The ones with sauce were tasty but the ones with seasoning were not. I asked for extra seasoning. the wing dings were flavorless without Sauce!!! If I ever return, I will know I'm getting wing dings not whole wings and I will order a flavoring that comes in a sauce.

Evidently, this place is part of a chain based out of Florida...would not have guessed. The menu was simple but extensive and the beer selection was pretty good. Good vibe in this place that is evidently known for their wings. Had to healthy tonight and got the Baja salad...this sucker wS huge, flavorful, and well put together. I do need to give a shout out to Adrian, the barmaid. She was great to talk with and very attentive. She really did a great job, seems to like her job, and was pretty easy on the eyes as well. I will definitely be back to this place....great food, nice atmosphere, and super service!

This place is amazing. We were in the area and wanted some wings. This place popped up, so we stopped in. The decor is really nice and there are TVs all over to watch your favorite game. Over 30 flavors of wings and only 50 cents for traditional wings and 75 cents for boneless wings. Plus a few drink specials. We tried a few flavors of wings and liked them all. I really enjoyed the raspberry ice sauce - very tasty! We will stop here again.

50 cents for boneless wings and 75 cents bone-in wings in increments of 5pieces (ie 5 pieces bone-in = $3.75). This was a special for their "5 days of" Cinco de Mayo celebrations. Choose your own sauces. I chose the Dynamite Sauce and would definitely recommend it again. It wasn't spicy for me, but for normal people, they may think it's spicy. You can ask your server to taste the sauces before selecting them. The bone-in wings are always how I order wings, and they were great. No complaints. I also got the Garlic and Parmesan fries for $6. It's nothing special. Not enough garlic sauce, and the parmesan kind of overpowers the taste. You can go without it. Regular fries might even be preferred... Service: Excellent. No complaints. It may have been that one of my friends knows the people there, though...

Very nice place, nice bartender. We hung out for a few hours and ate and drank at the bar. The hurricane drink is good and strong! They have happy hour all of Sunday which consist of drinks and wine ranging from $2.50- $4 I got the delicious garlic, Parmesan cheese fries and asian chili sweet and spicy sauce for our boneless wings which were good. I will definitely return for the awesome service and awesome prices.

This is THE place to go for wings. Over 30 different wing sauces!! I ordered mild sauce and my boyfriend got the coconut sauce, and both were delicious. We also shared some parmesan garlic fries, which I loved but my boyfriend hated. The only problem was that it took us a good 20 minutes to be seated, at least. As others have mentioned, there was no hostess at the door, so we had to wait around for 5-10 minutes just for someone to notice we were there. Then the place was absolutely jammed (it was a Friday night), so we had to wait another 10-15 minutes for someone to leave so we could sit down. And I will agree with the other commenters who said it is one of the noisiest places I've ever been. The food is totally worth it though. Best wings I've ever had.

I use to visit this place all the time and it looks as though they are under new management that sucks!!!! . I have visited other locations that are excellent. The service sucks, they want you to pay for every little thing, I thought they were going to tell me I had to pay for my water. I should have known when I went in there at that time of the day and the place was almost empty. Me, my husband and daughter order the wing platters. My daughter got blue cheese and I got ranch with my wings and when the waitress brought out the food, we asked her which was blue cheese and which was ranch, she opened the container and sniffed it and said that they is blue cheese and put it on the table, I told my daughter to not touch that. When we got refills on our drinks instead of either taking the cups and refilling them or bringing another drink, she brought a cup full of the same drink and poured it in the cup we were drinking out of. I was like wow, how professional is that to reach over our food and not give us fresh drinks. This place is bottom basement ghetto and unprofessional. Will never visit this location ever again.

You've got to be kidding me. Went in for a late lunch. Place is small and it wasn't busy, but still took 5 or 6 minutes to get an acknowledgment from the hostess. A couple minutes later, the waitress (who stank of cigarette smoke -- icky!) came over to take my order. I told her I wanted the $7 lunch special. I asked for the boneless wings with a specific sauce, the house-cooked potato chips and a drink. The order came up shortly. It consisted of overcooked, over-breaded, hard and tasteless pieces of chicken; some overcooked, unsalted potato chips and my soda, along with a couple celery sticks. The chicken sucked. The chips might have been OK if they had been salted, but they hadn't. No salt on the table, either, so I had as bland an order of chips as you can imagine. After I ate, the waitress -- she was busy chatting with other customers and staff -- never brought me a bill. I waited an appropriate time, then left enough for the bill and a too-big tip and split. The place has that fakin' Jamaican vibe, too. Never again. Buffalo Wild Wings does this same sort of stuff, but with better products and service at a better price. I'll take my business and money elsewhere.

The service has declined. We do not visit here anymore. Would avoid it. Specifically, the seating situation is terrible. We are never sure if there is a hostess or not. When seated you may or may not get a visit by waitstaff. One time, we just left. I think they got popular and maybe overwhelmed. For now, avoid this place.

I've been there twice, the first experience consisted of terrible service but meh food, the second time was horrid service and horrid food. I will not give them my money a third time. Today (my second time in this establishment), I ordered a quesadilla and wings to go. Not only did I not get helped until 10 minutes after seating myself at the (mostly empty) bar, but the bathroom were filthy - clogged toilets and all. I almost left without my food, and frankly I should have. Once I got home, the quesadillas were burned. I'm not saying crisp, I'm talking charred on both sides. I tried scraping off the charcoal from the tortilla, but no dice, it was a lost cause. The wings were half decent, if a little dry and the sauce (some Coco sauce) was too watery for my taste. Like I said, I will not be going back. Judging from other reviews, maybe the drinks are okay, but I'd say stay away from this dump.

Mediocre food, horrible service. I have been to Hurricane twice, the first time two waitresses had a verbal fight over who was up next in rotation for our table. After that service was slow and "the computer was down" so they had to write out my credit card info. Second time there our waitress was also very slow. Ordered Iced tea and got sweet tea. Ordered a burger medium rare and it was not pink. Ten minutes after finishing we were looking around for her to get our bill and after that it took another ten to run my card and bring change to my friend.

Great new place, The menu is average wings place. But the sauce selection was very interesting. Beer special and wing special on tuesdays was better then a BW2s. The environment is very islandly with good layout for watching sports.

Drove by and saw this new place and thought we'd give it a try. The Hurricane wings were tasteless. The garlic fries were good, but the Philly cheese steak was dry. The kids chicken finger was mediocre. They did offer a lot of food for the prices. I wouldn't go back.

Placed a "to go" order and was told it would be done in a few minutes. I showed up and my dinner was done but I could not get anyone to help me pay for it. Waited 10 mins and spoke to "2" different waitstaff and was rebuffed so I left.

3 1/2 stars. Good service. Fun little bar area. A few outdoor seats. Wings are fairly average, however, if you are like me, and love samplers...they have about 30 different wing flavors!! ...and other bar food stuff and sandwiches.

Had a late-night quick meal the other day when I was visiting family in Detroit. Arrived around 11 or so on Friday night at the business and it was still packed and starting to slow down from a night of service. The workers were friendly and attentive. Gave great advice on the sauces, which they had around 50 choices of. The place had and "island" motif to it and plenty of seating. The wings came out quickly and were well seasoned. Overall, it was a good expirience and I would put it ahead of Buffalo Wild Wings if I lived in the area as my goto wing place.

  • Amanda O.

My sister bragged to me about the loaded fries and I happened to visit on a night where appetizers (loaded fries) were 1/2 off....and apparently so were the loaded fries. There was nothing loaded about these fries unless you call sprinkling some shredded cheese on some good french fries loaded. The wings were not that great, they tasted like they had been cooked twice and were so dry. It was extremely loud & crowded because this place is tiny. Concept is nice though and it's a nice local place to go have a drink and listen to LOUD music and loud tv's at the same time. Probably won't go back again but I had to try it.

This place has a strange feel to me. It's sitting in what more or less the size of what two subway restaurants would sit in, in a strip plaza. Yet on this particular Saturday night when we visited it was more than enough room, and I don't understand why. The food was pretty good, as was the service, and the multiple plasmas showing the Tiger game. It's trying for the ocean / airy get away feel, maybe it would be better if the windows could open. I don't know. As far as the 30 sauces for the wings... we tried 5 of them, 4 of the 5 were mild at best, the 5th was rated their hottest and it certainly was loaded with some spicy stuff. This is a chain restaurant though so no fault of the owner here as I doubt they mix their own stuff from scratch. I really think there are too many choices of sauces. Overall I liked the place, it's a good secret for now. The wings are a decent size, some places are really cutting back to next to no meat. Either the secret will get out and succeed or the secret sticks with me and the other Yelpers. Maybe a Motor City Daily Deal is in order?! Get the word out!

Carry out service took entirely too long. Over 15 minutes for a single salad to come out, with only a few active tables in the place.

We've made two stops into Hurricane Grill now, and I still have mixed emotions. First, it's worth mentioning that neither time did this place seem very busy. The location is pretty awful, so I'm sure that helps explain it. I also wasn't expecting a total oceanside vibe from a wings joint, but that's what I got. My last complaint on the front end is that both times I was there I was distracted my bugs. The first time we were sat by the window and I watched a spider snacking on a fly it had caught in its web. The second time it was moreso just watching a couple of flies flit about the restaurant. Onto the actual food. The menu has the mix of wings/sandwiches/salads you would expect from a place with a name like this. They have a huge list of sauces. The hottest is truly hot- I watched a coworker sweat through his meal. It was kind of gross. (His sweat, not the sauce) The other sauces are kind of hit or miss. Some missed the mark, some are okay, others are decent. The first time I stopped in I ordered a chicken tender meal so I could get a good number of different sauces. The next time I ordered a chicken salad, which was quite delicious. A few redeeming notes would be that their wings are the same price for boneless or regular - and the regular wings are huge and meaty. They have a 50 cent wing night as well. They have a number of lunch specials that are priced fairly for a lunch crowd. Our service has also always been adequate. I'm sure I'll be back - just won't be running back.

Went there for lunch on a Tuesday. Very few people eating. A couple more drinking. Several guys all alone at the bar in coats and ties drinking at 11:45am. Great. We selected a table and sat down. First thing I noticed was how dirty everything was. How can a new place be so dirty? Then I touched the table and my and stuck. I have no idea why I actually ate food there. The food was mediocre at best. This got two stars because they had cheap beer ... I would get bottles not draft though.

My friend & I decided on Hurricane purely based on the understanding that they offered the 50 cent wing deal on Sunday & Tuesday. I saw the deal online THAT DAY & thought it would be a great way to try a few of your interesting flavors without spending too much. You can imagine our surprise and disappointment when we arrived & were immediately told by our server that the deal was no longer valid on Sundays. Confused, I decided to take another look at the website on my phone to double check. Sure enough, the 50 cent wing deal was still listed as a special on Sundays (and is still listed that way today...nearly three weeks later). I immediately told our server that the deal was still listed on the website & asked if they would be willing to honor it. She politely told me no, and said that it was still on the website because the new specials had just gone into effect on Monday (6 days earlier). Although my instinct was to ask to see the manager immediately, I didn't want to make a scene. My friend & I went ahead & ordered a wing platter to share. I must admit, the wings were delicious & the garlic parmesan fries were to die for! However, the whole experience left an awful taste in my mouth about Hurricane Wings. While I understand that busy schedules may have prevented someone from updating the website, I feel that it was extremely unprofessional not to honor the deal. We chose to drive past several wing bar/grills on our way to Hurricane. It would have been nice for them to acknowledge the error & make it right. They would have surely earned a couple of new regular customers.

A friend invited me to Hurricane Grill last Friday evening. I had never been and actually never heard of it. But I needed to catch up with my long lost friend and get out of the habit of going home from work and crashing on the sofa with Chipotle and Bill Maher every Friday. Two words that describe Hurricane Grill upon entrance - LOUD (extremely LOUD) and BRIGHT!!! I'm not sure if it's because the restaurant is small and the noise is compounded by the tight space or if the guest were extremely happy it was Friday. Either way a pair of ear plugs could have come in handy. Then it was bright, 2o'clock in the afternoon bright. If you are a married and you and your girlfriend or boyfriend have plans this is not the place to have dinner for the evening (LOL - JK!) I have never been to a bar/restaurant that was this, well, bright. Highlighter bright if you will. Most restaurants offer a dimly lit environment - not this one! The food is pretty typical of what you come to expect from restaurants with a "hamburger/French fry" menu. The appetizers were half off which is a great option if you're not having an entrée. The portions are huge so my $8 appetizer tasted even better for $4. If you're looking to hang out with friends this is a great spot! If you're looking to converse with your friends - not so great spot. You wouldn't be able to hear them! Knowing what to expect I could see myself going back maybe during the warmer months. They do have an outdoor patio.

Great new place. I stop in at least once a week for lunch and/or happy hour (Mon-Fri from 3-7). Aside from having great service and being a professionally run business, I'm glad to have a NEW place to go to.

Was in the area and decided to drop in this place mainly because I had a coupon from my entertainment book. After eating here, I looked on their website. It's a pretty large chain, mainly in Florida, which really doesn't shock me with their name and what they are serving. It's basically a Hooter's clone minus the pretty girls in short shorts. The menu is very similar to Bdubs, Hooters, etc. Sandwiches, salads, fried goodies, and of course Wings. They have about 30 different sauces which is kind of cool. Lots to choose form if you are sick of the standard Mild, Medium, and Hot. My girlfriend ordered the Hurricane Chicken Salad. It had grilled chicken (topped with any of the 30 sauces), bacon, shredded tortilla chips, etc. We were suppose to share, but didn't happen. She really enjoyed it. We also ordered the wing sampler, which are unbreaded by the way.(my preference). 20 wings and you can choose up to 4 sauces. we went the Cajun (dry rub), Parm/Garlic/Herb sauce, Medium, and Firecracker (sweet/spicy sauce). The wings alone were very good. Nice and meaty. I really enjoyed the flavors as well, except for the Firecracker. Wasn't really a fan of it. The cajun rub and parm-garlic were my favorites. The service was fine but it was not really busy in there. we were pretty early for lunch. The one drawback was the price. Chicken wings have gotten some press lately about shortages and price increases. The menu price is about $1/wing. Not exactly inexpensive. However, I just saw that they have $.50 wings on Mondays after 6pm. That is worth it. I wouldn't go out of your way to eat here, but if you are in the area or are offended by what the waitresses wear at Hooters, stop in here.

My husband I& I stopped in here last week for some wings. Big mistake. The wings were a good size, but the sauce was terrible. We tried the mild hurricane sauce = tomato sauce with absolutely not zip or heat, the honey garlic was overwhelmingly sweet from the honey with no garlic spice to counter it, we couldn't even eat them, and the ancho chile lime were very limey and very mild, certainly not what I would expect from the category 3 spice! We also a got a burger, that was mediocre at best. And, the highly recommended garlic parmesan fries were dipped in garlic butter & buried in parmesan. The thirst I experienced later was beyond anything I've experienced. The only good thing is the happy hour beer specials are actually pretty good - Miller Lite for $1.50, Blue Moon for $2.00.
