Horrible Service. They lost our table of 15 reservation, and blamed it on us! Did not even attempt to apologize in any fashion. Two of us picked a nasty entree (Yukon salmon) and the waiter told my friend "it would be difficult for him to take it back" and replace with another entree. We were professional and understood it was not his decision and requested the manager to come out. The manager said he was "too busy booking parties" to service us. An hour and a half later after telling the waiter we would find the manager ourself, the manager came to our table. He had a smile, was not polite, giggled as if it was a joke, cut us off and said he would remove the entree's from the bill. I forgot to mention the waiter gave us a sob story on how the meals would come out of his tips, that's why we were persistent to talk to the manager (in case the waiter wasn't lying). The other 12 people seemed to think the food was just okay. I'll never go back there the service was horrible. ( this was lost in my drafts from 2012, but needed to be shared)

I went to Duo not for a dining experience, but to celebrate my cousin's birthday... so I went on a Friday night and it was more like a club to me. Maybe I'm out of the club-going phase, but I was not amused by the evening. I just wanted to order a drink while I waited on the person of honor... people watching was... interesting. The only thing I can really judge here is my cocktail. Decent, but overpriced. I'm used to paying $4-$5 for a well vodka & tonic and I think I paid $7 for just a well vodka. Whatever. I'm not dying to go back.

I was a little apprehensive of our ladies (plus guy) night at Duo when we pulled up to a very plain facade in a strip mall. I guess that's why they say not to judge a book by its cover. The area was spacious, sleek and had a laid-back vibe. It was also very busy for a Thursday night at 8pm. We ordered a couple martinis (cosmo, the Duo, and an Asian-style one with plum and cucumber) and they were all pretty good but the Duo and the plum/cucumber ones were a little too sweet for me. The cosmo was excellent. As for the food, the steak was a decent size and well-cooked. The blackened salmon sandwich had a nice crust on it instead of an oily spice rub, and the lemon mayo made a great pairing. The only miss was the caprese salad, which may be because it isn't tomato season. For $10, if you can't get decent tomatoes (i.e., not pink and flavorless), I'd take it off the menu in the winter. Also, the lounge area is a little awkward for seating because your knees are at or above table level. I appreciate trying to make it more living-room and less restaurant style, but it made me feel like a giant or like it would have been easier to eat with my plate in my lap. We decided to move to the high tops to avoid the lap-eating. Overall, I was happy with the quality of the food and the service. They have DJs on Wednesday and Friday apparently, and the lounge area is far enough removed from where the DJ sets up that you could enjoy the music without losing your hearing.

It wasn't very busy for the early happy hour but the ambiance was great. They've created great artistic pieces and light fixtures using rebar which gives the join a very urban loft feel. Great lounge just outside the bar area with huge fur pillows and low tables. We kicked back with martinis and had an amazing eggplant appetizer I highly recommend. After a bit we sat in the dining room for dinner and more martinis. The food was fresh, innovative and delicious. Although we were there early I did see that the kitchen is open until 1am so if you get the late night hunger pains head over. I'm definitely hitting this place next time I'm in town!

A girlfriend of mine and I went here for drinks. She had heard that they had a nice selection... I was optimistic when coming through the doors, the atmosphere was very "chill". We were seated right away and the waiter came on over. At first the guy was a major flirt, attending to our orders and even checking on us, but through the night he was harder to find than Terrell Owens on a NFL roster... We waited a half an hour for drinks to come, another half hour for our food and it wasn't even crowded at this point. I'm glad my pomegranate martini was strong otherwise I wouldn't have been so forgiving.

Shrimp appetizer was ok but overdone. Deep fried with a spicy creamy sauce. Meh. Yukon salmon was pretty good. Wife and I both ordered. She got a thinner, slightly overdone piece. I got a thicker one perfectly cooked. Again a bit heavy on the fatty sauce. Carrot cake and flourless chocolate cake were solid. Wine and drinks seem a bit overpriced. All this overshadowed and ruined by loud and bad sounding R&B singing. We complained half way through dinner and only got relief when the band took a break.

Duo is beautiful. You walk in and the place is pure class, magnificent edgy chandeliers, a cool cushy lounge area. Everyone there is friendly and well trained. The food is outstanding! The Caprese salad had a little Olive twist to it. The Yukon gold encrusted salmon was amazing I split that with the tuna in ponzo sauce which was prepared to perfection. I can't wait to go back and try the tempura fried lobster appetizer! Yum!

I had never heard of this place until I purchased a Groupon. The ambiance was pretty cool and there was plenty of leg room. I didn't feel like a sardine being shoved into a can, My dining partner and I both had surf and turf and the filets were cooked to perfection. Service was excellent.

Fun place! We will be back! Had a late dinner on a Saturday night. Stumbled across Duo on Yelp and the reviews made it look interesting as well as the menu. Upon arriving, we noted it had more of a club feel (10:30 on a Saturday) with a lounge and bar area towards the front. Downstairs it's more of a seated dinner area. The place is LOUD - so don't expect to whisper. It's more of a fun place for a night out at a fun and tasty venue than a quiet romantic evening. We started off with a Duo chicken roll which was a tasty start to our meal. I chose the Duo Vineyard salad which was a nice size and had all the ingredients I like in a salad. For drinks, my date started off with the Duo martini, which was very good. I chose the Taste of Asia and while I am not usually a cucumber fan this was so amazing I would not order anything else... and I had a few! I recommend trying it. For our entrees, I chose the pan seared cherry chicken which I found to be juicy and tasty. I am hard pressed to order chicken on a menu, but this dish looked interesting and turned out to be just what I was looking for. My date had the surf and turf. He shared his lobster with me, which was delicious and made me wish I had opted for my normal seafood choice... he didn't share his steak with me but said it was great. Our server Joey/JoJo was friendly from the moment we walked in. He was able to give us some good suggestions and seemed pretty knowledgeable of the drink menu which was great for us. He made us really comfortable considering it was our first time here and answered a lot of our questions about the bar area. I'm currently considering planning a b-day event with friends towards the winter time and Duo is at the top of my list as far as places to go. The decor and style of this place really does set it apart. I'm not usually a "club" person, I prefer to sit, chill, and eat. This place offers both! A mixed crowd of people and great food and music. It's open late as well. We will be back and plan on bringing some friends with us to show off our new "hot spot". :-) Great job Duo for making a one-of-a-kind experience.

I'm going to give Duo 3 stars because our waiter was great and our food was good. The manager is the reason why I will not give anything higher than 3. I made reservations for my husband and I, we got there a little early and the young lady at the hostess desk was very kind. She greeted us and said it would be just a moment. She came back w/ the manager and said to him," The party for Harvest has arrived." She said my name clearly and distinctly, but for some reason he said, " Party for Harvey?" So I very politely corrected him and said " No Harvest." He totally ignored me as if to say no woman corrects me let alone a black one. He very arrogant and unfriendly. My husband was very upset and he really wanted to punch him in the face. We probably would have left if I had not just purchased a Groupon for the restaurant. Needless to say we will not be patrons of Duo again.

The restaurant was horrible. Our server was good, but the food itself was terrible. We sent it back not once, but twice. The manager came out after the first plate was sent back asking if everything was fine. We told her the problem. She then asked if we wanted another dinner choice, BUT we would have to pay for the second plate! (even though the first two tasted horrible!) I usually do not complain at all at restaurants. The first plate, my friend ordered salmon. There were bones in it! (not just 1, but MANY). The second plate, my friend ordered the chicken dish, which I had also ordered. It looked appetizing, but the sauce that was drenched all over the food (yes, it was a puddle); was far too bitter. The chef had obviously used too much lemon in making it. You could taste what was wrong. The sauce in the first dish was terrible too. It tasted like a light champagne sauce mixed with light sour cream. She did not eat her food and I only ate the spinach and some of the mashed potatoes that came with it; I didn't eat the chicken at all, even though I boxed it up. I still never ate it. There was also singing at this restaurant. It was horrible. I don't know if they are paid or if it was "open mic," but the screeching of voices made it a VERY unpleasant atmosphere. Do not go to this restaurant. It looks nice from the outside; it is only a facade. There is singing in the restaurant. It was horrible. The food...was horrible. The server was very good, but the manager, Brittany, was HORRIBLE as well. How can you say that, "You're only allowed to send the first plate back. The second plate you have to pay for." If the first plate tasted horrible, and the second plate tasted horrible, and then my plate makes it three plates that tasted horrible, there's obviously something wrong. She seemed very young for a manager and obviously lacked experience. I'm 29 years old. I go out to eat ALLLL the time (3-4+ times a week). This is probably the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant of any kind ever in my life.

Every time I fly in to Michigan this is one hot spot that is a must! The place is amazing I love the decor this place has class very upscale. The food is great the drinks are strong. Staff is nice it's a great place to impress a date or bring your business associates. (If your on a budget stick to Applebee's and fast food joints ) I say this only after reading the other reviews.

I took a big group here back in December for my company's holiday party. It's got great decor and a very hip vibe to it. The front end is the bar and lounge and then the back area is a sit-down area for dining. We only did drinks and appetizers and mostly from the happy hour menu but I have to say that everything we had was awesome. People raved about how great the food was and there were some really interesting specialty drinks to try. Eric the GM came over at several points to check on us and our waiter (wish I could remember his name) was terrific - especially with such a large group. I loved my first experience with Duo and plan to bring my wife here in the near future.

Living in the area I have eaten and drank at every venue on northwestern and telegraph thats offered the promise of good food, drinks, social interaction and/or nightlife. The food is very good at DUO but it does seem to still be looking for an identity. It's not typical deep fried bar food. It's lite, fresh and actually offers something to the taste buds. I suggest trying the yum yum shrimp, chicken roll or tenderloin steak bites if your hesitant about going for one of the more expensive entrees during your first visit. When you do make the jump for the lobster tail, filet mignon or grilled salmon, you won't be sorry. Still want to play it safe, the burgers, while not Wagyu, they are very high quality and cooked very well. Food presentation is good and ticket times are average, even on busy nights. If they was a delay in getting food it seemed to be more the wait staffs inexperience. Drinks are priced fairly. They have some tasty signature mixes that the women seem to enjoy! I would like to see them offer more higher-end rum and beer selections. The venue is well laid out and offers much more room than Bar 7 but is not wide open like Lucky's so it encourages a lot more interaction between guest. The seating area in the rear offers a very intimate experience. It's decorated in a art deco style with long drapes and wroth iron art work, mafia and Sunny and Cher paintings... It's tasteful, comfortable and upscale. The mens's room needs some attention as it does not seem to be cleaned during open hours. If you plan to visit on weekend, lounge area does seem to fall under the over priced vegas "bottle" style service. I hit DUO about once a week. I have visited on different days and times. Each night offers a little different atmosphere. Some based on DUO managements control, some just based on the demographics of their location and product offerings! You'll have to check them out on different days to find the mix that fits your lifestyle, age and personality. Believe me, there is a lot of diversity in their clientele but it's all within the middle-class. There isn't two bouncers working the door like Southfield's Friday and it's not as pretentious as some places in Birmingham ... Although some nights they come close to hitting both personas. The bartenders are good, they are fast and friendly. The female wait staff seems disconnected and inexperienced and thus come off as rude. When I asked for a Manager, she went and got the hostess, clearly thinking it was my first time there. Which is unfortunate because DUO has good food they just need better wait staff and to cut out the gimmicks, your cover band sucks. I've cut out eating there for now until they get this staff issue under control.

I was looking for a place to unwind after work and have a glass of wine and some food. I looked online and found Duo. After driving past and getting turned around, I finally found it. I was worried because it looked so empty, but the website said they were open late. I decided to sit at the bar where the only patrons were seated. The bartender was very distracted by the phone and was complaining about how many people were calling about father's day brunch. She finally acknowledged me after about 10 minutes. I normally would walk out after waiting that long, but there is almost next to nothing to choose from in Southfield. She finally came over and was friendly. I ordered a glass of wine to drink and a filet mignon. I think the filet was $29. It was most certainly not a prime cut. It was ok, but I've had better, and I think 30 dollars is a bit steep. The filet came with a side of mashed potatoes and some crispy fried onion rings. The sides were good. The atmosphere of the place could be so great. It is a nice little spot inside. I was just off put by the "bros" sitting at the bar talking loudly about this or that, it was very tacky. I think one or two of these guys worked there or owned it because he went to the phones when the bartender couldn't handle the phone ringing. It just didn't strike me so much as a bar rather a relaxing lounge with these goons sitting at the bar. Overall it was ok. I probably wouldn't go back.

Never go to a place with less than TEN reviews. Otherwise you risk having the owner or the owner's family and friends draft favorable reviews. Not sure (and don't care) if previous reviewers were unbiased or not. Not good for kids. Noise level is excessive. Food - At first glance looks interesting. I had a disappointing Cherry Chicken. Overwhelmed with a cream sauce served on a huge pile of mashed potatoes. Finally found a cherry in next to last bite Haven't seen such a serving of mashed spuds since I left Ireland. Side salad - smallish; interesting and fresh. Service - not so good. Inattentive. Waited way too long for entree. Water y only beverage) was refilled for the first time after I asked the roving chef for the check. If your server is Serdar, be assertive for attention. Drink menu - interesting. Seems to be the focus of this establishment. No wine by the glass. Beer is inexpensive comparably. Ambiance - thought if I went "down" to the dining room I would escape the overbearing music. Turns out it is just the back of the room. There are better options. Ironically, I met the manager and he assured me "we won't disappoint you"; never saw him again after the initial greeting.

I went to Duo last night for the first time and I really enjoyed the place. Very cool lounge decor and the salmon sandwich I had was fantastic. Funny thing is ordinarily I wouldn't order bacon on my sandwich or at all really... I do love the taste of bacon but I'd prefer not to eat it. I didn't think much about the fact that the sandwich came with bacon on it when I ordered - I guess I was distracted - we were socializing and there was a record release going on for Marvin Lee - so that's my miss, but I gotta say as a guilty splurge it was a pretty glorious miss... what a sandwich. The blackened salmon, the toasted bun with the lemon mayo and the bacon - just a perfect mix of flavors and it was a nice hardy sandwich - a nice big piece of salmon with shredded lettuce, tomato and onions. The fries were really good too. It may not the healthiest option, but when I go back if I want a healthier version of that sandwich I would still order it without the mayo or bacon and the blackened salmon would stand up on its own with the veggie toppings. My wife ordered a salad as well which she said was really good. Should a place get four stars for one visit and one sandwich? You can debate that all you want but this sandwich deserved better than a three so Duo gets a four.

Went Tuesday night to celebrate my sister's birthday, :) 6 girls total for dinner for a late dinner. Appetizers ordered a few different ones: recommend the spicy shrimp and the chicken egg rolls (favorite) Dinner: I just went with the build your own burger- came out with how I liked it. I of course had to try everyone else's. Flank steak and some type of pasta chicken- both were great! Dessert: get the ice cream cake or the crème burlee. Overall food was good, but even better was the atmosphere. If you're looking for a low key, laid back place this is it. Granted it was a Tuesday so we were spoiled with our service, we got there at 8p didn't leave until 11:30p. Even after we paid the bill they were refilling our pop and coffee, we never felt rushed to leave. It's worth going during the week to relax.

Where do I start? This place is perfect. From the atmosphere to the service to the food to the drinks. 5 (I would give it much more if I could) stars. When I walked in I couldn't stop looking at the place. Such a comfortable environment, the lounge area was perfect, the pillows to relax on are even more perfect. I have never sat at a restaurant and had a pillow to relax on. The waiter was very sweet, I rarely order drinks but he told me his favorite drink (Blue moon.. maybe) so I decided to try it, it was AMAZING. I can't stand the taste of liquor, and this did not taste like liquor, in fact I had to make sure twice that this was a liquor drink. The bartender is a magician! My food (lemon chicken) was heavenly. I am obsessed with lemon chicken, I get it every where I go, this was by far the most amazing one. Cooked to perfection and it was so lemon-y which made it A+ for me. Clearly I had an amazing experience, I will be going back every week for that amazing chicken~!

Nice place off Northwestern Hwy a little hidden (same strip as Guitar Center). Live music on a Saturday night. Bar busy. Restaurant not so much. The hostess, waitress and busser were 1st class. Very friendly and attentive. Small dinner menu, good cocktail/martini menu. The filet was excellent. We enjoyed it and will be back.

I came here last week for a late girl's night dinner. While I've heard of friends coming here for the nightlife aspect, I've never received a straight answer regarding the food. Many know the Southfield area lacks dining and nightlife options worth talking about, but I gave it a shot anyway. I made a reservation as was seated immediately. Our server was very friendly, hands on, and polite. No complaints there. However, this is where the compliments end. The food was average at best. We ordered the yum yum chicken as an appetizer to split. This was literally ok, sauce reminds me of the Bang Bang Shrimp sauce found at Bonefish grill. The chicken was clearly frozen chicken bites covered in said sauce. Drinks, we ordered two drinks a piece. I will speak for my drinks only (gin and tonic). I am not a big drinker anymore but when I order one I expect it to be good. The glass was maybe 4 oz and there isn't much to talk about other than they weren't that great and I paid $21.00 for these drinks. Very disappointed because they were mixed with Hendricks Gin, anywhere else at this price point would have been a top shelf gin (Bombay Sapphire is my fav). Don't get me wrong, I am not cheap but this was ridiculous for the size and quality of the beverage. For Dinner, I had the Santa Barbara Chicken. I only ate half of a chicken breast and a few of the mashed potatoes. It was THE most disappointing meal I've ever had. The chicken was rubbery and over cooked, the sauce was so off. I love mushrooms but I don't know what these things were (I couldn't eat anymore because they looked like slime). The spinach and tomatoes were still raw. The server recommended this dish and I was majorly turned off. My friend ordered the salmon which she said was ok. I could have gone to Ruth Chris, J Alexander, Mortons, etc for the price I paid here and would have been more than satisfied, actually could have spent less in some cases. I threw away my leftovers from sheer disgust and would never eat here again. Nightlife, meh (maybe I'm just in that not quite 21 but not yet 30 limbo) but everyone here on a Friday night appeared to be out of my element. I like a nice lounge with good music, good drinks and conversation. Not people sitting on top of ledges surrounding their booths, half dressed, and half baked. It's the typical restaurant renting out their space for money made because they actually would be closed if they were opened based off of the quality of the food. I would have liked this spot if I were still 21/22 but not now. I heard great things about Duo but as with many things in Detroit, good spots don't last long before the "other "element arrives. I definitely will not return to this place. But the service was decent, so if you have a better experience feel free to prove me wrong.

Music from the live band was so loud I could barely order a drink. My friends and I decided to go to Bacco across the street so we could actually talk. The happy hour menu was good though and the bartender was very nice. If you are a single woman and don't want men in fur coats and tacky pin-stripe suits hitting on you then I definitely recommend a different place.

I am from detroit but live in Chicago and needed somewhere to meet with friends, who were coming from all over the metro area, one as far as Lansing. The location was perfect. I was told not to go because there had recently been a shooting and it was dangerous. We didnt experience any of that. We went on a thursday, karaoke night. The drinks and food were great, our waitress Porshe was on top of things and the ambiance was good. I would go back.

After reading the negative comments I was a little apprehensive about coming here!!! None the less I was pleasantly surprised to eat here. The customer service and food was Outstanding!!! I recommend trying the Yum Yum Shrimp or the Tenderloin in Zip Sauce. My date and I ordered the Surf and Turf for dinner and it was to die for!!!!

Duo is great for any occasion. The food is always delicious. For Apps we ordered yum yum shrimp, ravioli bites, and chicken rolls. For our dinner entree we ordered the surf n turf (which was GREAT), a spicy pasta but you can ask to get it mild or not as spicy how ever you prefer, and Mac and cheese as a side (everything was amazing). Service was awesome, like usual! The dining room area is nice and intimate and the decor is beautiful!! Must try you'll love it!!!

Went here a couple weeks ago on a Saturday night. The lounge is really nice. My friend and I went there early for food and drinks. The Riesling wasn't that good but the bang bang shrimp was tasty! The waitress did have a stank attitude and I was hesitant to tip her lol. Around 11 the kitchen closes and they put up the tables and chairs. That's cool and all but the only other place to sit is if you have a VIP area. Most lounges I've been to back home have areas to sit even if you aren't VIP. The DJ was good and it was a good crowd. To be honest since I've gotten older I prefer mixed crowds, but everyone had a good time and behaved. I think I'll have to go again and see if the experience is about the same.

I really really like this place! I only docked a star because they are inconsistent and they charge a cover charge although they operate like a restaurant (most days). Sometimes the kitchen is open, sometimes it's not. Sometimes the dj is on time, sometimes he doesn't get there until after midnight. But when they are good they are great! I love the food, love the drinks. Love the atmosphere and love the crowd. They play mostly hip hop/r&b on the weekends and the crowd is grown and sexy. Sometimes extremely sexy... like nearly nude lol. But this is a nice chill spot to come with your folks after a long work week. There is really no dance floor but everyone crowds around the bar and dances there. Seating is very limited almost nonexistent unless you are eating in the back (restaurant area). I just really hate that they charge cover at a place like this where there is no seating and no dance floor. What's the point? Centaurs has way more room and seating and doesn't charge cover. Oh well. Get there earlier enough and I guess you can avoid cover but you might also beat the dj there.

So this place is hidden in a little strip mall (like someone else said it's the the one with Guitar Center). We went on a Thursday and they have karaoke that night. The decor is cozy and the Happy Hour wasn't bad. I had a Blue Pom Drop Martini and it was AMAZING! I liked the fact that it didn't taste as harsh as a typical Martini. The place wasn't that busy when we walked in but it slowly picked up. The server was attentive and the busser was ridiculously on point. The most amazing thing here thou was the Mac and Cheese....I'm a big fan (and critic) of Mac and Cheese. I am always on the hunt for good dishes and this by far is one of the better ones. Super yummy, great price for the size and served hot! Definitely going to be making the trip out here again!
