I am giving them a 5-star because I made the mistake of reading the reviews for this establishment, and I'm sorry, but "you people" are idiots. Let's get one this straight...THIS IS A FAST CASUAL RESTAURANT. Know what the means? It's *this close* to Burger King. This isn't PF Changs, this isn't Tao in Las Vegas...IT'S PEI WEI FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. The irony is that the mongolian beef and chicken wraps are the EXACT SAME THING you get at PF Changs at literally 1/2 the price. The soups and Pad Thai are extremely good. the spicy chicken is amazing. I took my family of 4 there, ate all the things, had their amazing black and green iced tea, got fortune cookies, and it was $49 out the door. I seriously don't know what you people expect, but for the love of all that's good and holy, cook at home the next time you talk about eating out.

There are major problems going on at this pei Wei. My husband and I went last night for a quick dinner. We ordered our food at 8:27 pm and didn't receive our food until 9:07. The only person who seemed to care about this issue was the young man bussing the tables and running out the food. I'm unfortunately done with this location. Second bad experience here. Save yourself the time and support a local Chinese place it drive to pf changes!

I don't know that I ever "loved" Pei Wei. I feel like something's missing with them, and I can never seem to find a favorite dish here. I've eaten at a few different locations of theirs, and I'm not overly impressed. For starters, I really like, okay, softly love Chinese food. I have enough taste buds left to know what I like and don't like. But for corporate Chinese food, I just can't get into Pei Wei. For starters, I used to get their sweet and sour chicken. I had to stop getting it (not at this location) because it tasted rancid. Like expired pineapple from a dented can left in the hot sun to rot. It had that tangy "don't eat me" taste. Fine. So I found other stuff to eat. I've gotten different stuff here and tonight was no different. I went with the lo mien noodles with shrimp and veggies. Not bad. But not the greatest. Honestly, if I want awesome corporate Chinese food I'm going back to my home of Panda express! Panda Express is the holy grail of corporate Chinese and I love it there! The service and menu here is fine, it's not that. I just am not overly impressed. Fast casual dining with some flare to it. This location is consistently clean, well staffed and on point.

Eaten here before with good results. The last few times have been pretty bad to say the least. My girlfriends chicken had a few raw pieces. Mine was chewy and tough. The few times before it was cd spring rolls and soup. I plan on just going to a neighborhood Chinese restaurant next time.

It was a poor experience. Ordered pad Thai with chicken. It was burnt and half filled with tofu.

I love P.F. Changs (their parent company) and even though Pei Wei is not as good as them, they have several very good Asian dishes. We've been to this location dozens of times - and always have good service and food. The lettuce wraps are almost as good as P.F. Changs. Almost. My favorite dish is their Mongolian Beef! So good.

Pei Wei was basically exactly what I expected it to be... fast, reasonably priced, and just about all-around decent. I was sort of really hungry and my girlfriend suggested nearby Asian food -- and we didn't want to wait. Pei Wei was the choice. I got the Sriracha (?) something-or-other entree dealie with shrimp and fried rice (which was a dollar extra) and a cup for the Freestyle machine for a total of $12 and change. The restaurant is a decent size and looks nice as well. At just after 4 on a Tuesday, the place was pretty dead ... so the food came out after a few short minutes. The portion sizes here aren't very big, but the food was still pretty good. I'm glad I got the shrimp option: it was surprisingly tasty and I liked the crunchy batter. Not much else to say, really... it's a Pei Wei. It's basically an all-asian Noodles and Company, and so I rated it similarly. Pei Wei is far from authentic, but it doesn't try to be. It is what it is, and that's a decent, fast, and pretty reasonably priced meal.

Pei Wei's email campaign is what keeps me coming back. After my last visit, I'm not sure if I will ever return. Pei Wei makes it very easy to order online and often provides BOGO coupons in their email. The new dishes that often come with the BOGO offers always look very good and peak our interest. Over the last 6 months, I have yet to receive a to go order with utensils, correct sauce or napkins. The sushi addition to the menu is completely awful at all levels. The rolls are 99% rice with very little filling. The rice was hard and chewy. Each roll was placed in a separate large to go box with no barriers or protection. When I got home my rolls had come undone and had been doused in wasabi.. ewww. Plus, my order did not include chopsticks. Then my soup was cold and very tiny. It seriously took me three spoonfuls to empty the container. The cashiers all have the 'my parents make me have a job' and 'I'd rather be at the mall' attitude. A fake smile would be nice. Until the email marketing catches my optimism, so long...

Eh, not the best place to eat, especially when the concept came from the bigger brother PF Changs In Troy. I wouldn't recommend either restaurant to be honest but if u absolutely must have this type of food well then please go to PF Changs. The food is just noodles put into a bowl with sauce and there u have it. The food is heavy greasy and is not food that makes you feel great after eating. The meals linger and are over priced. Go next door get jimmy Johns or even Buffalo Wild Wings... Definitely not the best choice in Rochester hills.

The Thai dynamite was so bad the other day i couldn't way much of out.. The chicken they served me were in huge chunks. if you order rice the gravy with entree is non existent and the rice was so dull. Not going to have it for ages

  • Rich N.

Food is great...not as good as PF Changs. Service can be slow at times. They have taken a nice portion of food and split it up into 2 sizes, to make more money. The bigger size is smaller then it used to be...bad move. They should rethink their pricing structure, and provide customers what has worked in the past.

I've been to this Pei Wei location a few times, and it is awful. I ordered Chicken Pad Thai each time, and the noodles have been so burnt they were almost black. Extremely bland, worst Pad Thai ever. I recommend getting food from another location, just not this one.

Pei Wei is definitely on our list of favorites. The lettuce wraps are always a delish started, and sometimes if I'm not hungry enough for them and an entree, I skip the entree ;) When I do eat an entree, I usually go for the sweet n sour shrimp. Nothing exciting, but the yummy shrimp and sauce with a few veggies - perfect! My daughter is a fan of eating all of her honey chicken with her chopsticks. And then saving an extra set of chopsticks to wear in her hair the next day. Hey, she's four - it's the little things. We did have an issue with the brown rice being dry and yucky one time, but the manager was apologetic and quick to resolve the situation. We'll keep going back for reasonable portion sizes and good, predictable food.

I love this place. My favorite is the Thai Dynamite with chicken, and the Spicy Korean chicken. On my next visit I will definitely try the beef, it looked good too! The spring rolls, crab rangoons, and egg rolls are also good. I will say my on my last visit my mushrooms were still a bit cool inside and we waited a bit longer then we should have. No biggie. But, a lady who appeared to be a manager looked "unkept". Her hair was up, but very messy. Not 'cute messy' more like didn't brush her hair messy. And one of the cooks had his hat cocked to the side. I didn't appreciate looking at either. I am a firm believer in dress for success. They obviously didn't share that view;) But overall, I love this place. The food is always fresh! Bathrooms are always clean. I can't wait to go back!

I only went here because a family member was given a gift card and was trying to use it up. I say they should have traded with someone for a gift card to someplace else. Who knew it was possible to mess up things like fried rice and lo mein? Everything was drowning in grease, gloppy in texture, and overly salty and SWEET, ugh. Dishes that were advertised as being "spicy" were completely devoid of spice. I know some folks who can't deal with black pepper and say it's too spicy for them. I can't really comprehend that at all, but I guess the "spicy" warning is for people with overly sensitive taste buds like theirs. Also, your clothes will smell of grease when you leave. If you go to a hole-in-the-wall Chinese carryout place, you will certainly end up with something much better than anything from Pei Wei. OK, I should say something nice. Umm, the minced chicken with cool lettuce wraps and the chocolate chip cookies were OK. The soft drinks and fortune cookies tasted normal.

It's an amazing occurrence that the American food industry has yet to spawn a really huge chain Chinese food company. Pei Wei is getting there and I don't count mall Chinese. Little corner Chinese places are still king. I really like Pei Wei. The rice is plump and flavorful and they have a nice selection of Thai fusion. The Pad Thai has really nice slices of tofu. And I hate tofu. There's always something new and their website is easy to find out what is in them. I prefer Pei Wei to the corner Chinese food diner. I'm tired of the same old General Tso's breaded chicken with the red crap on it.

Pei Wei is the go-to dinner place for my wife and I. Every dish I've ever had there has been delicious, the service is almost always quick, the price is pretty reasonable for how stuffed you end up, and the one time we were ever dissatisfied with our meal, the restaurant gave us a free dinner for the next time we dined there. I would highly recommend it to any of my friends, and am definitely recommending it to all of you strangers on Yelp.

I am a big fan of PF Changs and was excited when a Pei Wei opened up near my apartment. However, after giving it multiple chances to live up to the quality of PF Changs, I have been disappointed. I ordered the Hot and Sour soup, Mongolian beef, and Spicy Korean chicken. The soup was so thick and salty that I had to add water to it in order to have the "soup" I ordered. The Mongolian beef was good but the Spicy Korean chicken was really sweet and covered in that thick sauce again. The rice was not cooked all the way which meant it was crunchy. The tables were dirty and there were high school kids everywhere... the upside to the meal was walking across the plaza and getting gelato. I say, save a few more dollars and go to the real thing

We really love P.F. Chang's, but getting to Somerset, waiting in line, and sitting in the loud, dark restaurant doesn't always appeal to us. Pei Wei is their smaller version, with either casual dine-in or take-out. They still have the dishes we love (lettuce wraps, sweet & sour chicken, kung pao, orange peel chicken, and sesame chicken) at a smaller price. Wish they delivered!

    (5)
  • Amya S.

OK, OK. I know this is not authentic Asian- but that doesn't mean it's not good! Pei Wei's tofu had me hook, line and sinker. I don't know how they get it to the texture they do. Maybe they have some sort of tofu genie in the back. The Thai Blazing Noodles pack some serious heat and I find it impossible to eat the whole serving by myself. My favorite dish is the Pei Wei Spicy. I always ask them to throw some cilantro in and they always do so, seemingly happily. Don't be afraid of the brown rice. The texture is great and so is the flavor.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
