Only go here for pizza, they are good. I ordered the Chopped Salad and it was average at best. The tomatoes were end pieces and not fresh. The chicken tasted like it was cooked in a microwave. My daughter ordered a kids burger, and it was charred, over cooked & gross. My wife ordered the Crispy Chicken Salad and she said it was tasteless. Both salads cost over $10 and not worth the money. Like I mentioned earlier, only go here for pizza and a decent draft beer.

I've only been here a couple of times. I can't say much about the food. Last night a friend and I shared an appetizer trio and everything on that was very good. I can say that the service we had last night was top notch. I was in a group of at least 30 and the servers did an excellent job handling our tables.

I really enjoyed my experience. The pizza was outstanding when I just expected " good." The craft beer list is very good too. I will definitely be back. The server was helpful and recommended the Meat Me and the Chai pizza - both were great. Stay away from the chips and salsa of all things!

This reminds me more of the old pizza hut pan pizza more then Chicago style pizza. Its good in its own right including the toppings but if you're looking for real Chicago style pizza you might be disappointed.

A friend and I had lunch here today. We each ordered a different stromboli and shared them. Old Chicago's Italian sausage is wonderful and their chicken tastes like it was actually cooked there rather than frozen and reheated. Both were delicious, as were the fries, coleslaw and really different and interesting dill pickles. As for the service, it couldn't have been better! Our server, Jason, was very attentive and made helpful suggestions without being intrusive at all. He was a delight. At one point, a person I took to be a manager also stopped at our table to inquire about our dining experience. That's exactly the kind of service I appreciate. We will definitely be eating here again. I normally avoid restaurants that aren't strictly local, but for Old Chicago I'll be making an exception! :)

Horrible food. I'm from Chicago so I didn't bother with the typical go tos. I got the chicken pesto panini and my wife got the California chicken. No taste, bland and boring. Small portion sizes but in this case it was a plus. I literally lost my appetite, and that never happens. The beer was good but only because they didn't make it. The fries were blah, I added salt and ketchup to those, and my sandwich needed Tabasco and pizza style parmesan to even make it edible. We decided to save the night with a hot chocolate cookie a la mode, how can you screw that up, right? Terrible. The cookie was frozen, you could easily tell by the terribleness of it. All in all, after being really hungry and driving over two hours from Chicago for the weekend, the only thing un-terrible was the typical decore. At least it wasn't a bowling alley.

Not always the best service but food has never let me down. Huge selection of beer, over 110! Love the world beer tour and mini tours that all add up for prizes and t- shirts. This is my favorite bar to try some new beers, chill out, and watch the Detroit tigers on there many new tv's surrounding the bar. I recommend the signature trio, Sicilian pepperoni rolls, chicken Mac and cheese, or the new oh my spaghetti pie.

My husband and I really enjoy this restaurant. We usually order our own individual pizzas since we like different toppings and we both think they are delicious. The pizza rolls are awesome and the salads are great too. We took our twin babies in there one time and the staff was very accommodating and put us in a booth away from others (so we would not disrupt other diners) and have always been very friendly and prompt.

atmosphere: not bad. just a typical bar/grill with a ton of beers on tap. food: we ordered a Chicago style pizza that was good, but nothing like the pizza i love and remember from actual Chicago eateries. service: awesome. our server was Lori Anne, a student at WMU in the nursing program. she was friendly, prompt, and professional. her tableside manner was impeccable leading me to assume and believe that her bedside manner will be the same. bottom line: based on one trip here, it isn't bad at all. that being said, don't have high expectations for the "Chicago-style" pizza living up to its title.

Summary: cheap, mediocre food, ridiculously horrible service Recommendation: Avoid I understand that this place is new, so I will happily revise this review if they eventually shape up. For now, consider this a snapshot at this moment in time of their business. EXPERIENCE #1 I went with a group of six people. The ambiance is significantly improved from Bennigan's. There were far too many employees hanging around the front (ten or so). We requested to sit at the bar because we just wanted drinks and were told that our party was too big and couldn't be seated there (move tables together?). They put us in the restaurant but then told us that we couldn't have the happy hour specials because they were only for patrons sitting in the bar area. Seriously. We arrived at 5:05. Placed our order at 5:15. We didn't get our drinks until 5:40--and this was after much prodding because one of our party couldn't stay past 5:45. Because she had to leave, they brought her drink and said that they had made it but she wouldn't have to pay for it. When she went to take it (she thought she might as well have a few sips before leaving), they told her that if she took the drink, then they would charge her. It was bizarre. Why would they bring it out if they weren't planning to give it to her? Why would they rather throw the drink away than try to appease an unhappy customer? The drinks themselves were well-mixed and delicious. Paying was difficult. First, we couldn't find our waitress. Other people (managers?) kept coming by the table and asking how things were and if there was anything they could do for us. We would say, "Yes, we would like the check, please." They would say they were going to find our waitress. This went on for about 15 minutes. Our waitress finally came by looking completely frazzled (even though the place was half empty and they seemed to have two employees for every customer) and asked if we needed anything. "Yes. The check." She disappeared for another 10 minutes, came back with the check, and disappeared again even though we had gotten out the card to pay. The check sat at the table for yet another 10 minutes. Come on. As we left, the horde of employees standing out the door asked, "How was your visit?" All in all, it was a tremendously frustrating experience. EXPERIENCE #2 A group of 12 from work decided to check out the buffet. The exact opposite thing happened--even though we were far too many people to comfortably fit in the bar, they put us in the bar. The lunch buffet, while very cheap, is not a good deal. There are only three pizzas plus some kind of pasta dish plus breadsticks out at any time--a very limited selection. Forget it if you're picky about pizza. The taste is nothing to write home about. The salads that came with the buffet took so long to come out that we were practically done eating by the time they did, and they forgot to give us the cookies that were supposed to come with the meal. There were still far, far too many employees for the terrible service which only made the terrible service even more annoying. A less frustrating but still far from positive experience.

Great late-nite dinner. Staff very friendly and warm. Attended the naughty trivia game. Hilarious and a great change of pace from other group activities in places like this... I hope they continue it.

AMAZING restaurant! They have a great and unique selection. We love going there for something different. Good portion sizes, American/Italian food with a twist. Great service and atmosphere as well.

I visited as a family group with a large number of kids. Even thought it was pretty busy we didn't have to wait long for a table. The waitress was friendly and efficient without being to chatty. Although the menu is as surprising as Applebee's or Chili's, it has a more Italian leaning with a large pizza selection and red-sauce Italian favorites. We found the thin crust pizza to be better than average with great fresh toppings and a just OK crust. The kids all enjoyed their pasta dishes. They advertise a large selection of beer, and it really is true. The choices cover all styles and geography. The list is dominated by the big brands and distributors, but a number of local Michigan beers were well represented. Don't go expecting a fine dining experience, but if you're looking for pizza and a beer you do a lot worse.

This is a composite of several visits several months after opening. First time, 2 people - Prompt greet&seat, knowledgeable and helpful waitstaff, food service prompt and good for this dining atmosphere. Second time, 4 people - Over all the same if not even better and the other couple were happy. Third time, just one - No host to greet me, seated my self at bar, one other person at bar. Noticed about 6 -8 seemingly busy servers and 16 at the most diners. NOBODY even noticed the new customer at the bar for approximately 10 min.. The bartender served the other lone customer food and a second drink during this time. Left with out any interaction at all at the doorway. Called Manager later that day and told him of overall experience. He agreed with my assessment after talking with staff and offered a comp and asked that I give them another opportunity. Fourth time, Two people - Greeted and seated at the bar, service by the bartender was initially prompt and cheerful and the food was good. As time went on her eye contact and attentiveness waned. I didn't use the comp either. Fifth time, two people - Busy place, Greeted and seated, order taken, food good and consistent, Waitress/erstwhile bartender slower on eye contact and attention again at the end which is something this one in particular needs to work on, other wise she was very good! Will I go back? Yes! Kara M.'s review with the large parties..... To walk into an establishment and expect them to accommodate that request not knowing their normal seating procedures or capabilities might have been at that time might have been a little presumptuous. The drink charge/no charge sounds odd though!

We were met and seated promptly. The place was busy, but there were plenty of available seats. A large group were preparing to leave and obviously were having a wonderful time. We choose a deep dish pizza, and it was WONDERFUL. Our waiter, Chris, was prompt, attentive, and returned often to check on us. We received our check quickly. Every one around us seemed to loved their fare. Unlike some of the other reviews we had a great meal and service. They knocked it out of the park tonight. Chris was a perfect waiter, the beer was cold, the food was hot, the service equally above reproach. They have an extensive Italian menu covering sandwiches, pastas, pizzas, and 80 different beers. There is something for everyone. This will probably become one of the GO TO places. Plus its close to Gander Mountain, and I-94. 12/26/11 I changed the rating based on my last visit. The last time I was there and the last time I will be seen there. We had a group of eight. Seated rather promptly and were given drinks as quick. Orders taken. Six received theirs in a timely manner. Two did not receive theirs until the others were half way through. One order was a small pizza. The other was a Stromboli sandwich. They blew it. The order was sent back, and never returned. Finally another sandwich was sent out. Everyone else was finished this time. They blew it a second time. Wrong items on the sandwich, cold, etc. The manager came over to check with me. I told her that twice the sandwich was sent back. She wanted to get me another. I told her no as everyone else was finished with their meal. She said, (I will quote this because it is incredible), " I won't change you for the sandwiches then." Really. The tip was very tiny. Usually I will tip what is appropriate. She did not return after the first sandwich was returned. She took it back. I think other waitresses clued the Manager in. Anyway I will not be going back. Bad service coupled with bad Manager. She did say that her kitchen help was not good. Enter at you own risk. Maybe you will have a good meal and service. Maybe you will have good food, but lousy service. But you will never have both unless they get their stuff in order. Hopefully before they close for good,

Stopped at this busy road location on my way back from Chicago. Was just meeting a friend for a hello beer. We ended up drinking cider (my fave). I was excited at the size of their beer/specialty collection! Our waiter was ok, but distracted. It took him quite a while to figure out my check-in offer from Yelp was real, and he had to take my phone to show to his boss. It was only $2, not really even a big deal. But it allowed my friend and I to grab some food also, he recommended the pepperoni rolls, which we thought would be small bites and were huge. Seems everything is pretty large here. Since I've been working to minimize my largeness, we also ordered the chicken/avocado salad. It was quite tasty. Huge though, but we shared. I've been to other Old Chicago joints in the past, and this one was just ok.

Was in town for a work function and decided to stop in for a beer and a small snack. I usually feel a little odd sitting alone in a restaurant so i decided to sit at the bar. My bartender ( i think his name was Jason)was the best bartender I've ever had. Very polite. Shook my hand when he greeted me and even kept me laughing with his cheesy jokes. Haha beyond a wonderful experience. I had even thought about giving him my number so i could keep in touch but i thought he would think that was a little weird. Haha. But he really is a great bartender and was very personable with all his customers. Great job buddy!

The Chicago 7: an 8" thick, deep dish delight with 7 different meats! Fantastic! Washed down with a Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. ..what a meal! Great service, too. Good sports bar atmosphere, reasonable prices...what more could you want?

I've been to plenty of OCs around the country and I think this one has one of my favorite set-ups. The bar is front and center. We grabbed a beer (love the wide selection) and had the sliders. They were amazing. I'm so glad they added this to the menu and hope it's here to stay. The bartender was friendly and it was a great stop on our long journey home!

The hostesses are smiling as they welcome each customer. This place is packed. Manager honored Yelp $2 off coupon. Food is awesome as well. Had the BBQ Cheddar Burger & it was tasty & sweet. Will definitely be returning for another meal next year when we come back to Portage/Kalamazoo.

They have a nice selection of beer but they took some of my favorite items off their menu and between no food I like now and the lack of professionalism in some of the waiters and bartenders... I'll pass.

This restaurant has a nice variety of beers and nice clean tap lines. Unfortunately some of the more exotic beers have been taken off of the list - especially a few of the Belgian beers that I really enjoyed. This is likely a result of demographics. Stocking a beer that doesn't sell is obviously a bad idea. In a sense the beer is starting to head more toward common brands and the menu tends to have a bit of a TGIF feel to it. Most items are "blah, blah with cheese". Not many healthy choices and if you do order something other than a middle of the road item you probably won't like it much. Even the chocolate chip desert cookie now has oatmeal in it. Geez gang, why'd you have to ruin it? The employees here are very nice though the inside word is they can often be placed under a bit of stress. There are plenty of flat screen TV's and interactive trivia if that's your thing. I recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a decent beer and a mainstream eating experience.

So I arrive at 1:30pm on a Sunday. The host sees me walking in and is close to the door, yet he doesn't hold it open...he doesn't smile. This young man wasn't welcoming at all. Our waiter, Roosevelt, was nice. Provided quick service. Food was good. Will return.

I really wish I could give a better review. I hate this, but it was my first day in a new town and I ordered off of grubhub. Awful extra charges which made my 14 dollar meal into a 21 dollar meal thanks to delivery (my car had broken down the day after I moved here.) I ordered macaroni and cheese with bacon and it arrived like poorly made velveeta shells and cheese with not even all the pasta mixed in with the cheese, and unmelted cheese on top. Cold and not appealing. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I am not too eager to go to the actual restaurant at all, but I feel that when errors are made it can be for numerous reasons and I wanted to give the establishment a chance to redeem or respond.

Who in the shit doesn't love this place?! Old Chicago is awesome and i love it, they have some damn good comfort food here and i have been to at least three in three different states. This particular location was clean and everything was perfect. Our waiter was awesome and made it enjoyable, though he messed up the first beer i ordered it turned out being a decent beer anyhow. Usually places don't charge you for stuff like that but i could see they were busy and din't feel it necessary to pull him away for it, like i said it was a good beer anyhow. The only negative thing i had to say was that the rest of the staff basically ignored you. Walking all over or standing around talking and not even acknowledging you. I said hi and excuse me to a couple of them and they didn't even respond. When we left, a manager and two host staff were at the door chatting about something and we said bye halfway out the door since they didn't notice us. As always, Check it and Yelp it!
