Probably have been here half a dozen times over the past couple of years. If I lived in the area I'm sure that number would increase. Consistently tasty, no matter if I order savory, sweet, hearty or light. The staff is friendly and attentive and we've never had an issue getting a table, even on weekends. They offer a good selection of specials in different categories each day (e.g., quiche, scones, hash, non-alcoholic beverages, etc.). Price is mid-range with maybe $9-$10 dollar median meal price. A real treat!

This place was amazing! We live really close to this place and never really noticed it. My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday morning at 9 ish and there was no wait. We got sat at a booth with a view of Oakland drive. I ordered breakfast in hand which was a sandwich with avocado and basil mayo bacon lettuce tomato and comes with potatoes. Normally it's a scrambled egg but I asked for over medium because I like the yolk flavor. The egg was cooked perfectly. We will definitely return here!

If you head to Portage and stop ANYWHERE ELSE to eat then you've just blown it! The menu here is inspiring and creative. We stopped in on our way home from the West side of the state for lunch. My daughter and I started with Potato and Garlic scape bisque. It was creamy, with a hint of garlic. It came with a house made roll that was perfect for dripping. My lunch was the tuna lettuce wrap. 3 nice size wraps with perfectly cooked tuna. The vegetables were lightly pickled giving it a really nice crunch. I wish I could get these closer to where I live. They had some really cool hotdogs. My daughter had one with chili, cheese, and Fritos. Talk about a gourmet dog! I wanted to try one of each but I also wanted to try those fabulous looking desserts. We ordered 3 desserts because we couldn't decide. Chocolate Flourless Cake, A pecan Turtle brownie, and The Cherry tart. ALL three were so decadent. They came out looking like works of art. Save room for at least one and a house made coffee or espresso. A lot of the ingredients were locally sourced and the owners seem to truly care about the community. Our waitress was a gem :) Keep up the great work!

I've been to FCC several times and the ambiance is very pleasant. They use locally grown food and do a decent job preparing it. I would say there's nothing extraordinary about their food though. I've tried several items on the menu, and although delicious, I've never had anything extraordinary. And I think the prices are a little high. Their desserts, coffee, and ambiance are their best attributes in my opinion. The eating area is bright and the service has always been excellent. I give it only 3 stars based on the ordinary and pricey food.

I'm not sure about the poorer reviews here or why so I'll just say try for yourself.. The food is excellent! Primarily made from local suppliers when possible I'm told and the food reflects this. My wife and I eat out on average 6 nights a week, (last kid in college) so no need to cook so we have a pretty good pulse on all the restaurants in Kalamazoo and surrounding areas. Sure, it's a little higher priced than the chains but this stuff is as good as home made. The specials are plentiful as they change them constantly and the standard menu items are always consistent. I rarely try ribs from out of the ordinary restaurants that don't specialize in them but I gave it a shot last week and whoo! You could pull the bone out rather than eat around it. That's impressive.. Enough about dinner.. Try thier deserts! Oh my goodness! Bottom line, yes it's $2-$3 more for a dinner than the chains but that's thier business model and I for one will spend my money there.. Locally owned and staffed.

Pleasant atmosphere, and the staff are friendly, efficient and attentive without being intrusive. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and nicely presented. The specials are always good and I've enjoyed everything I've ordered from the regular menu. I don't find the prices out of line due to the quality of the food and service. I eat here every few weeks, and have yet to be disappointed.

The service is wonderful and that's the main reason why I return to eat! They are not only very friendly, but also knowledgeable about the menu items. The food is fresh and tasty, and the prices are reasonable. I usually don't have room for dessert when I go out, however it is a must to order a treat from here!

Had breakfast with a friend at Full City Cafe a couple of Sundays ago; even though it was prime time for post-church meals, we were seated right away. Food was great; I had the chicken and biscuits along with a cup of chai. The chai was delicious, better than the chai I'd just recently had from another local favorite. Chicken was moist and tasty, the biscuit was flaky, and the gravy was fairly well seasoned. My parents have come here for lunch quite a few times and love their sandwiches. I'll definitely have to make it in for them!

Just stopped here for breakfast on a slow Thursday morning with the boyfriend and we just loved the food. It was a little more pricey then I expected but the food was delicious. I ordered the pork nirvana omelette which was one of the better omelets I have had in Kalamazoo. Hannah our server took great cafe of us and we will defiantly be back.

Always a solid choice for consistently good food with a little flair. Don't expect too fancy but good weeknight choice for $25-30/couple. Whitefish is great. Pasta a fair and burgers are fair(+).

We've been to Full City a few different times for breakfast and lunch and have not been overly impressed. We're on the hunt for a breakfast spot in Kalamazoo that actually knows how to cook an egg consistently and when we opened Full City's menu we'd thought our search was over. In the corner of the menu is a helpful egg guide on how to order so your eggs come out "perfectly" with a combination of runny yolks and firm whites that meets an expectation. We were wrong. My eggs were ordered over medium (firm whites and runny yolks) but I got runny whites and runny yolks which means I don't get to eat my breakfast. I also enjoyed turkey sausage that was so cold in the center I wondered if it was frozen and potatoes that had been sitting so long they were hard. Our waitress was a ball of irritation too. Like always we were eating with the B Family and because of my citrus allergy when the water was brought out Mr. B simply took my water with lemon and I asked for a non-lemon water. No big deal. She scoffed at me! When she took our order I very politely asked if there was lemon in the blueberry muffin and her reply was "No. Maybe. I'm not sure, but I don't think so." When I told her I have a citrus allergy she told me I should be fine. I ordered toast. Mrs. B also had issues with her meal being cold and Mr. MVP said his breakfast of pancakes was heavy and overdone with cinnamon. We appreciate that a high volume restaurant has to manage quality and it might be difficult to get it right every single time, but it's the little things that make a difference and with our meals Full City failed, times four.

Breakfast is 5 star, lunch is 3. They have a great coffee and espresso bar. Breakfast is high quality and tasty, but can get crowded. Lunch and dinner items often are fairly standard and are pricey for something similar to spiffed up diner food. Still, one of my favorite places in town.

This is HIGH cost combined with BELOW AVERAGE food. I will NEVER go back again because it was a waste on all fronts!

Some of the best soup in West Michigan. It brought me to first come to this restaurant in the late '90s and it still never disappoints. Entrees are always top notch too with fantastic sides with them. Fish selections are always fresh and scrumptious. After a road trip, we have many times driven longer to get back to Full City Cafe for the best food around. I was just reminded to mention the super desserts, such as fruit tarts and the wonderful homemade dinner rolls served warm to your table. Yum! Friendly, efficient staff and owners who take time to get to know you.

I just found a new favorite breakfast restaurant in Kalamazoo/Portage area. I have been twice in two weeks. Unfortunately, I ordered the same thing both times because it was soooo good. They make fresh muffins every day. It gets pretty busy on a Saturday morning, so be prepared to wait a few minutes.

I do like eating at Full City Cafe. I mostly visit this place during lunch time. The pasta salad is great along with the olive burger and grilled chicken fajita. Some of the dinner specials are a miss and slightly over-priced in my opinion. I have also enjoyed the breakfast menu. Overall, quality ingredients and great customer service.
