The food is great, the burgers are tasty and juicy, and the fries are fresh cut and well-seasoned. However, having been to half a dozen different 5 Guys in 3 states, there seems to be an operational difference here that is disappointing. At all other locations, my order of fries was overflowing in the cup, with a traditional "extra scoop" thrown in the bag. This location? My large order of fries was 2/3 full and there was no extra scoop in the bag. Do I sound greedy? Entitled? Maybe. But I based my order on past experiences and was sorely disappointed. Place your order accordingly.

Place was very busy. Extremely noisy. No particular complaint with the burger but not exceptional in any way. Fries were very plentiful but I was not impressed with the flavor. Quite pricey for a burger and fry. I probate ly won't go back.

Burgers are better than ok. I think I'll make some changes to my next order and it should be much better. The fries are AMAZING. Very clean, great service, decent price. Well go back

Stopped in with my son. This is a fast food, wait in line, order, eat and get out kind of place. A nice atmosphere, with a pretty basic menu of burgers dogs and fried. A big guy took the order and had the personality of a robot, very unfriendly but I guess he was efficient. We had the basic cheeseburgers, plus we split an order of fries. The burgers are very good, much better tasting than a standard fast food order. The fries look like they are hand cut from the potato, like you make at home, not processed and frozen. They were very good as well. Overall, a good, although expensive, fast food restaurant. Definitely tasted above average. i you are hungry and need to eat and get out a good choice. Check the menu out ahead of time online though, as this was our first time and felt a little rushed ordering due to the line, and the jerk taking the order. I will go again.

Fried Heaven. Huge portions. Free peanuts. Crazy artificially intelligent robot pop machine. Don't really like any other fast food burgers since going all the way with the little bacon cheeseburger. Good music -- but would like it turned down a notch or two.

Fabulous burgers, where the hot stuff is hot and the cold stuff is cold!!! Great fair quality fries just aching for some vinegar!! Love this place!!

Super simple menu. When you are craving a burger or hotdog, this is the place. It is the epitome of an American burger. Their fries? The amount you get is always 2.5 times the size you order. The style and taste are very similar to Penn Station. Lastly, for vegetarians, their veggie sandwich is the best greasy delicious vegetarian option to exist.

Wow, what can I say except WOW! This has got to be the best burger place in Kalamazoo! Busy but we were able to find a clean table for the 4 of us right away. Everyone got the cheeseburger their own way which was more then enough to fill each of us up. The burgers come 2 patties per burger, you just need to tell them what to put on it. Very tasty and a little greasy but hey, that's where most of the flavor is anyway. We also ordered a large regular fry and a regular Cajun style fry. You get more then enough as they fill the container and spill a whole bunch more in the bag. Although a little soggy they still had some great taste. They have 2 of the super pop machines that you can choose almost 80 different flavors of pop. I did get some of the free peanuts but had to take them home as I was stuffed from the burger and fries. Maybe next time I will skip the fries and eat the nuts. The next time we go here we will probably get 1 fry and 2 burgers to share for the 4 of us. Although a little pricey, we WILL be back!

Pros: AWESOME food. They have probably the best by far 'fast food'. Burgers are pretty customizable, with many toppings to choose from. Their fries are HUGE, so even the small (which is a small cup) is enough for two people as they dump a bunch more in the bag! Cons: It's not really a problem on their end.. but there is never enough seating... the place is always packed! It's also very open so privacy isn't happening. It's pretty loud with the music and being so busy, if that's a concern for some people. It can be a little pricy for being a burger joint.

Clean and simple atmosphere but not all that impressed. Nevertheless, I liked the choices for additional toppings and services was fast. However, the burgers was dry, gritty, thin and smelled. Not the best quality beef. Surely it's not Mc D's but, I have had better at local establishment servicing quality beef like grass fed.

Absolutely the VERY BEST BURGERS you can get!!! HUGE portions too!! Great family friendly place. Atmosphere is spot on for the type of food offered. Even my 8 year old would rather come eat here than go eat/play at McDonalds!

I honestly just don't know how many good things I can say about Five Guys. I love the burgers, love the fries...mmmmm fries..... Friendly staff & they have the great new soda machine that offers you a gazillion different options - hit Fanta and you are supplied with peach, orange, strawberry....the posibilities are endless!!

5 guys is the best "fast-food" burger you can get. This particular restaurant is lacking. I asked for a lettuce wrap with my burger and the wrap was a flimsy few pieces of lettuce around the bun. Really? So messy. At other 5 guys I've been to I get a large, thick, crunchy lettuce wrap. Also, I asked for my fries well-done and they were soggy. Will I come back? Yes. I love me some 5 Guys. But this location needs some help.

Nothing wrong with a good American burger joint, but the burgers tasted like those hockey pucks found at SAMs. Two burgers and 2 sodas was expensive. I do like the peanuts. The environment was fun.

Took some friends here as we ate at one on vacation in Naples FL. I guess I must have been really hungry because I thought the food was great. After eating at this one I wondered what all the fuss was. Burgers were just ok and the fries were greasy and limp. We were embarrassed cause we had talked this franchise up. Even our friends did not like it. Maybe it was not up to franchise standards.

We've eaten here multiple times. The burgers are good, but not great. They are pretty BIG, and the fries are a hefty amount too. I do love the simplicity of the menu, and the speed after ordering. The price is a bit much, but worth it for the size of the burgers, in my opinion. The interior is pretty small, boring and brightly lit, like a cafeteria. We usually just get it to go!

Five Guys is an institution. The first one I went to was on the road and I was amazed then. Then they opened here and I was so happy for that. The food is always excellent, and the fries, OMG. They are my Kryptonite. I can't come here often and keep on my diet program. I have to insist that others grab the fries from me and its always a challenge of willpower to resist them. They are excellent and VERY BAD for me. I want to eat them all and chow down on the brown paper bag. This Five Guys features the newest Coke fountain machines. You can even enjoy zero calorie soda made fancy for you on site all by yourself. Again, I have to make a valiant effort to resist EATING ALL THE THINGS. :) If you are nearby and want what Five Guys is known for, you'll be happy you walked in.

Enjoy the burgers. Like that you basically create what you want in a burger. The fries are also very good. I will definitely return when i get a hankering for a burger

I'd never been to a Five Guys before, but have heard of their reputation for a dang tasty burger - so when one recently opened up in Portage, my partner and I just had to try it out. First, it's located in a strip of stores - so it shares a very large parking lot with other businesses. We went for dinner on a Monday, thinking that it might not be that crowded. Um, wrong, lol. People are clearly excited to have this restaurant here. There wasn't a long line, but every table was full when we ordered. Here's the deal with their menu... it's super simplistic. Any burger with a 'Little' in the name means 1 hambuger patty. If 'Little' isn't in the name, that means 2 hamburger patties. I opted for the Little Cheeseburger on my first visit. Also, there is a very long list of toppings and condiments, so you can personalize your burger to your heart's delight at no extra charge. I got grilled onions and mushrooms and BBQ sauce on my Little Cheeseburger. My partner also ordered a regular side of fries for us to share. And yes, it was more than enough for two people to share... they go crazy on the fries! One thing here that I've never seen anywhere else are their fancy digital fountain drink machines. I just had water, but my partner chose Sprite and then it comes up with different flavor additions to add to your Sprite - so he had Orange Sprite with his meal. Interesting. By the time we were ready so sit, a table for 2 opened up - yay! So, here's the deal. The burger was REALLY GOOD... juicy and flavorful. The fries, while fresh-made, were good... but weren't anything special.

Great soda machine, ok burgers, people clean up around you dragging chairs making loud metal scratching sounds, slowest fast service in the business!

I actually like Five Guys. A burger joint that makes its own buns with no preservatives and slices its own fries ranks high on my list. The staff was friendly and even though the place was jammed packed we waited only 7 minutes. The peanuts took the edge off :) Keep in mind portion size, no soda, and that Five Guys is not something to eat every day, it really is a treat every so often!

Just got back from Five Guys for the first time. If I was to sum the experience up in one word it would be "YUM!". This particular store has only been open for two days, and it shows. No, not in that the service was slow, or the people were rude, or the food was bad, this place was absolutely PACKED, and that speaks volumes for Five Guys. Never having had Five Guys before I went in not really knowing what to expect. When you first walk in you smell the potatoes, freshly cut and fried. Given how busy this place was my potato was probably sliced 5 minutes before I ate it. After waiting in line for a minute I got to order, which was very fast and the cashier was very helpful. I felt a bit rushed, but the place was super busy, so I'm not really surprised by that and don't really mind. My wife and I ordered two bacon cheeseburgers with a bunch of condiments (the condiments are free, and they have TONS to choose from), one regular fry and one large pop. The total came to $20 and some change. The time it took us to get our order was just a bit longer that a busy day at McDonalds. You kind of have to expect this though because everything is made fresh and again, it was crazy busy. We were told by the lady at the front door when we left that in the future we could place and pay for our order online and pick it up so we don't have to wait in line, which we'll definitely be doing next time. We got our food and sat down at one of the round tables near the counter because it was the only one available at the time. We felt a bit cramped with the line on one side and people waiting for their order on the other side. The burgers kicked butt and we couldn't finish the fries because we got so many. By the time we left we had to practically fight our way out because there were so many people waiting for their orders. Overall it was a great experience. The food was great, the service was really good, and the place was clean. We didn't use the bathrooms so I can't comment on those. We'll definitely be back!

They claim that the burger is the best around but that is just not true the hamburger is average at best. They are the most expensive by far though. I had a single hamburger french fries and a regular Coke and the price was just under $10.

I'm not a big fan of Five Guys. I think their burgers stress quantity over quality. I can't eat that much, and didn't really like what I had. The fries are better than the burgers IMO, but they're greasy. I would every single time go to State Burger, which is right around the corner. I will say though that my kids prefer the Five Guys fries to the State Burger fries. My kids and I disagree.

If you want a BIG greasy mash your face into a burger, this is it. Cooked to order, Fries are delicious. I only wish the pop machine wasn't as fancy with all the flavors, every pop you get seems to taste like all the flavors ran together, even if not choosing a flavor add in.

Grease that soaks through the bag. If you're into that, fine, but this is essentially the same as all of the other pretty-much-fast-food burger joints. I for one appreciate a great burger, and you're not really going to find that at a place like this.
