Max & Erma’s Menu

We stopped here for a road trip lunch on the way back to Chicago. Our buddy wanted to because they have the unlimited ice cream bar. I had the garbage burger. It was awesome. The absolute best part about my meal was that I left without my leftovers. I had only eaten half my burger and I had a full thing of fries. I had planned to take it on the road for dinner. As we started to pull out of the parking lot, our server Joe ran out to stop us. He had my leftovers in hand. It was a really small gesture but a server has never done that for me. It was awesome. Kudos to your genuinely kind and awesome staff.

Best soup ever--the chicken tortilla. I never go here without getting it. This time I also got the Rueben and it was perfect-----THEY ARE ALWAYS A SOLID 3 STAR with tendency to 4.

Our server was excellent, we ordered the Avocado Cobb Salad which was delicious. The reason I am giving only 3 stars is because the amount of avocado pictured in the menu was at least a half of an avocado sliced, spread out over almost half the salad. What you really get is only a quarter of an avocado, and that is being generous. When I complained about the difference the manager came out, apologized and gave us more. If you want to order this salad beware, apparently the specs from corporate do not match what they chose to picture in the menu.

So food was pretty good for a corporate restaurant. Best day to go is FREE cookie Wednesday and i love their salads and tortilla soup - but the service i have had at this particular place has been hit or miss. Sometimes we go in and the service is amazing and super friendly and fast for a sit down restaurant. Other times i can not believe the lack of connection and forced sales pitch. I know they have to do what they have to do. but sheesh. Lately when we go for lunch it is all i can do - to say "Please just save it". If you can get past the corporate BS and buy this, this and this then its a good place to grab lunch during work.

Out of all the Max and Erma's in the general area, this by far takes the cake. The service and quality of food seems much better than other similar restaurants. We have yet to have a bad experience at this location. We look forward to coming back.

Food was good. Brought in a group and it was really slow. But staff was very friendly.

My server Mellissa was great, new manager Debbie also on point. Decor is a little bland compared to other stores but it was nice and quiet. The bar gives generous pours and it was free cookie night!

Good service, and good burgers here. Fries too. The croutons on the salad were stale, and there were fruit flys in the bar area. Yuck. Otherwise the place seemed clean.

Came for lunch with a bunch of coworkers. It was super slow (they had just opened for lunch) and the service was excellent. Pickle chips and tortilla soup were delicious. The santa fe salad much less so. The chicken was super dry and tasteless, I will never order that again, but I may come back since it's close to work.

Clean restaurant and all of the staff are very friendly. The food has always been great everytime I have eaten here, and if they mess up, they take care of it and do everything they can to take care of the customer. I am so glad this place is so close to my house because I love it : )

Just went there this Saturday evening and the staff, service and food were excellent! The bathrooms were clean and the entire place altough trendy and colorful, looked well kept and neat! GREAT atmosphere..my church will be there on most Saturday nights now...everyone enjoyed themselves!

We stopped in before a Friday evening Plymouth Whalers hockey game (the arena is across the street). The restaurant was pretty busy, but the hostess cheerfully greeted and seated us almost immediately. One thing I really liked about the menu was the choice to get your burger either in the "Max" 10 oz. size or a "Erma" version at 6 oz. Too often when you order a burger, you have to get a half-pound or more version that is just too big to finish in one sitting (and leftover burgers don't do well in the microwave). I ordered an "Erma"-sized burger and found it plenty large...especially as we had fries and an order of fried pickle chips as an appetizer with it. The pickle chips arrived at the table hot and nicely spiced...earning them a spot on my Fried Pickle Palaces list! When the server first arrived at our table, my dining companion was struggling to read the menu because he forgot to bring his reading glasses. Upon learning this, Chris the server told us to wait a sec as he went and found a pair of readers to loan to Tim. First time we've seen that happen at a restaurant, but it shows someone willing to go the extra mile in terms of customer service. To be fair, a couple of our section mates from the hockey game were also at the restaurant that night and had a bad service experience. They waited for 45 minutes before having to leave without being served their food. They were sitting at a booth in the bar area (while we were out in the regular dining room), so the takeaway here (based on that and on Jon G.s experience) might be to avoid sitting in the bar area.

Max and Erma must have been busy canoodling behind the bar because neither of them - nor the rest of the staff could be bothered to serve us. We were placed in a booth in the bar section, except half our booth was essentially in the lobby which was awkward. The worst part was though, from the beginning to end, the service was slow. The waitress forgot to bring silverware and when we asked, it took five minutes for another hostess to bring it. The waitress also forgot to bring refills and five minutes later had someone else do. It also took 10 minutes for her to take our bill back and five minutes to bring us a receipt. All told, it nearly doubled our dinner time. Luckily, the burgers were alright. But I won't return to this Max and Erma's.

Well they are okay. Size does matter and the salad was lacking with 4 shrimp @ $11.59.....a travesty I think a few got away or someone was hungry in the kitchen? Kids did like the pickle chips and the chicken strips.

In the past few years I have encountered a few not so great Max & Erma's. Good food prep and service were lacking. However, with this Max & Erma's this jus wasn't the case. Food quality was what I was hoping for. We had the loaded fries for an app, a few kids meals, tortilla soup, a tortilla soup burger and a great salad. I can't remember the name but it had apples, blue cheese, and I added chicken. It was a pretty big salad and more than enough for dinner. The service was really good too. Putting up with a rambunctious kid with a lot of questions isn't always easy and this woman did it well. The restaurant was clean - including the bathrooms. All and all, I'm glad we stopped by. It's not a gourmet restaurant but it is easy to rate 4 stars against comparable venues.
