I recently got married at the University of Michigan football stadium (aka Big House). I'm originally from california and wanted a cake pop wedding cake. I found Jojo because of her cake pop reviews. Jojo was very professional and friendly over the phone and the price was very fair. She was responsive to all of our emails. I sent her many photos of the look of the cake pop wedding cake I wanted and she went out of her way to get a cake pop stand. She's very creative as well as she suggested the cake pop groom and bride as the toppers. All of my guests RAVED about the taste of the cake pops. Cake pops are very popular in California and it exceeded all of my cali friend's expectations. We ordered about 100 more cake pops than guest and it was completely gone by the end of the night. People were even asking if they could eat the top! which obviously we said no so we could eat it on our 1 year anniversary. It was so beautiful and tasty jojo! thank you so much!!! :)

We recently stopped in person to see if this bakery could be an option for us to purchase our Baby Celebration cake. However, we were extremely, EXTREMELY disappointed by the entire experience and I have to say that we have never felt more insulted and unwelcomed in our lives. First off, when we went into the store, the female baker (I have to assume this is Jo Jo) did not greet us - there were no other customers to be seen. Then, when I proceeded to ask her about prices, batters, cake pictures, etc, she said that I had to go on facebook in order to see what she's done. This was annoying to hear because we had made the trip in-person to see if this bakery would be a good fit for us. I proceeded to tell her that we didn't have an idea of what we wanted and hoped she could help with that. She didn't know how to respond, other than go off on an ego trip and talk about how all she bakes are custom cakes, blah blah, and that she's been doing this for customers since the 70s and that she only bakes cakes for customers by word of mouth. OK JO JO, THEN WHY SHOULD YOU BE IN BUSINESS WHEN YOU DON'T WANT NEW CUSTOMERS??? Instead of kindly explaining to us the very basic, fundamental questions a person would ask when purchasing a cake, she wouldn't and couldn't stop talking about herself for at least 8-10 minutes! To make matters worse, she started to raise her voice because she was frustrated that we didn't know what we wanted in a Baby Celebration cake. I was totally baffled. This was supposed to be a happy occasion, but she was treating us like she didn't welcome people off the street. I had enough. I got up from my chair and we walked out. Maybe Jo Jo can bake cakes, but she clearly has NO business acumen whatsoever. We felt truly discriminated and unwelcomed. I can understand if we all have our good and bad days, but she could have handled this so much better and more professionally. I'm wondering how she'll get customers with her attitude and big ego. If we lived closer to Rochester, we'd purchase our cake from Home Bakery, where our wedding cake was made. Talk about true professionals in every way. But we decided to take a chance and visit a local bakery that seemed to have decent reviews. In person, this was NOT the case. Do not go here unless you wanted to be treated poorly. In response to the Owner: 1.) Our rebuttal: Agree that she was tempering chocolate and that her hands were full, but the three of us did not feel we received a proper greeting, nor do we recall one. 2.) Our rebuttal: None of this information was disclosed to us period. She mentioned Facebook, and that we should visit it, although we told her it took time for us to drive into town from Canton and that we were interested in finding a local bakery. Having said that, one would think your response would be to inform us of consultations upfront, but she did not give us any indication that an appointment was needed. Why else would she go and grab her planner with dates to let us know her availability for making cakes? We took the time to drive into town and she did not show us the courtesy any person should be given in person when making a purchase. Her iphone was resting on the table, but she did not use it to display any photos or provide recommendations. She did ask us how many people and quoted us for a cake for $60 but this did not entail any type of description of what we were actually getting for $60. 3.) Our rebuttal: No, we were there longer. I'm pretty darn sure of it. I had to constantly check my watch because it was close to your closing time and we were not getting serviced appropriately. My husband and friend were with me and can verify this. For certain, we were not there longer than 15-20 minutes, that's how long the entire episode lasted. Also, I'm pregnant, so I have to observe my eating/bathroom breaks and keep a close watch. So nice try. T McGinn, you observed the latter half of the conversation for about 2-3 minutes. Let's be clear about that. You said nothing to us, but just stood there by her side while she got very defensive with her dialogue. Also, you were not around the entire time because you were busy in the back moving boxes. I'm sorry that you can't take any type of criticism or be humble about the fact that our experience was SO negative. Being in the food industry, I would think you would take comments to heart and try and improve rather than be defensive in your responses. You still clearly don't get it and that's too bad. Also, your ending doesn't make any sense about having "enough satisfied customers." You would think you would want to GROW your business AND retain your current, loyal customers at the same time. However, it sounds like you have no interest to do so because all you do is turn away potential ones. B IG MISTAKE.

My son and I were bike riding & stopped in for our first visit. My son is a world traveller & chocolate expert. We tried a macadamia nut tortoise with milk chocolate and carmel. Subperb!.

If you've got a sweet tooth and some time, you have to find this treat shop. Everything in this little place has an amazing story - from the store itself, to the recipes, to the entrepreneurs who run it. Wonderful folks who love their work and the people that walk in. It was cinnamon roll Friday, and we split a cream cheese glazed/frosted cinnamon roll. It was right out of the oven. A slight crisp on the outside, gooey in the center. The frosting was creamy, not cloyingly sweet, and every bite melted perfectly. I love cinnamon rolls... and this one is one of the best I've had! Their caramels are delicious, too! Creamy, soft, a hint of salt, not a chore to chew. Dissolves rapidly, making you want the next bite. We live in LA now where you can get some "famous" treats. But this place is now on our regular places to visit when we come back to MI. Too bad it's not in LA... it would give other places a run for their money.

Yummy caramel! I am a sucker for caramel and JoJo's does delicious caramel, yummy in everything but especially turtles. I also sampled a cupcake here which was moist and delicious, shocking as I have suffered through a lot of dry cupcakes around these parts. She does such cute things, cheesecake pops, cake pops, just so much fun to look at as well as eat. A rice krispie treat with caramel, chocolate and toasted coconut or peanuts? Sweet heaven. She basically has any treat you can imagine on a stick and any you have not to boot. No worries, not everything happy is on a stick. To die for chocolate covered berries, pretty too. Terrific dense truffles. Peanut butter cups with caramel? Gah hold me back. Not an endless variety of items but everything you find here is top notch quality and super fresh. Not your average generic looking stuff here, it is house made and she is very creative. So if you are looking for candy or baked goods give her a whirl. I know I have liked everything I have been able to sample so far. Damn diabetes.
