Who doesn't love a good burrito, enchilada, or tostada every now and then? *raises hand* Who doesn't love a good deal, as in half off house margaritas and beers? *raises other hand*. *lowers hands to continue typing* If you're looking for good service, yummy Mexican favorites and relief for your wallet, Los Amigos is the place for you! Newly opened, if you live in the Farmington/Novi area, you've probably received a coupon for a bogo dinner entree. This is partly what lured me in, as well as my love for all things ground beef, sour cream, and cheese! The food was hot, made to order, and served quickly. I had the burrito, tostada, and chile relleno. My friend had the enchiladas. We both enjoyed our meals as well as the complimentary chips and salsa served mild or hot. The drinks were fantastic and the service was very good. I felt right at home here and I can't wait to go back to try the fried ice cream!

This place is a classic example of a Restaurant trying to do too much resulting in crappy to mediocre food (at best). DO YOURSELF A FAVOR! FOCUS ON A HANDFUL OF ITEMS AND DO IT WELL!! I ordered the Chile Colorado which is meat in a spicy tomato based sauce. The thing that raised a red flag is that you get a choice of meat. In a dish like this the meat should be slow simmered in a sauce to develop any type of flavor. That being said the dish was flavorless. We also got a Botana. Also flavorless and after digging deeper a large black hair was discovered. -GROSS I'm gluten intolerant and had a reaction to eating here. I'm assuming they used flour to thicken the sauce, or the tortilla chips are a blend of flour/corn. That's my fault for not asking... either way we will NOT be returning to this establishment.

Im not sure if its "authentic" mexican food, but in my opinion, this is a really good restaurant. I went here for lunch and had pollo con chorizo. The serving size was pretty big, so i had some leftovers. It had a lot of flavor. The next time I went there, I shared my lunch with another person. For dessert, we had flan. It wasn't the best, so i wouldnt really recommend that. Overall, it was tasty. The menu was pretty big, not limited to burritos and tacos.

As a Mexican American man I have very high standards for what I consider Mexican food and what I consider good Mexican food. I was raised by Mexican parents who own and operate a Mexican restaurant. It's where I got my first job and what I hold my Mexican food standards to. Having grown up in a Mexican family I have had some bad ass home cooked meals as well. So maybe my palette has had too much good for me to enjoy regular Mexican food. I don't consider Taco Bell, Mexican food or even food for that matter. I consider it absolute garbage. If garbage could take a shit it would be what they serve at Taco Bell. Baja Fresh is also bullshit. Shitty tortillas with little flavor in the food. Chipotle is ok but often times the tortillas become ripped and there are fatty meat pieces in whatever food I order. Keep in mind I haven't been to a Chipotle in over a year. Now as for 'Los Amigos'. When my date and I pulled up we had been under the impression that it was a small, take out style place. We walked inside and it was pretty big. There a decent amount of tables, booths and a bar area. We sat down and our waiter was the same guy that greeted us. He was taking orders and greeting guests. Props to him for not using a notepad and for holding down 3 tables of people. A short guy in a shiny red shirt came out of nowhere and dropped some chips n salsa on our table. Chips were ok, nothing new. Salted but not hot or warm. Salsa was cold, which was fine but it wasn't spicy. Nothing special about the salsa. We ordered a Botana, a Loco burrito and my ol' lady ordered something else. The botana has chorizo in it and was the only thing with any flavor. But anyone who's had chorizo knows that no matter what chorizo it is, it's packed with flavor. When the food came we dug in but halfway through the Botana we found a hair. I thought it might have came off my hairy knuckles but it was deep into the beans and cheese. So it wasn't mine! So that was fucking disgusting. I didn't tell the waiter cause we were pretty much finished eating at that point. Plus I felt kind of bad. Three tables in the restaurant just after happy hour. My Loco Burrito was pretty lame. The rice and beans were basic excuses for Mexican food. No outstanding flavor and overall luke warm. The chicken burrito itself was also a let down. The sauce on the burrito was watery and didn't have any distinct flavor. Same with the chicken on the inside. Lettuce, a tomato slice and sour cream came on top. OK, when does this shit get 'Loco'? Overall if I could give it a 2.5 star rating I might. But after writing this review I realize two stars is good. The service was good and the price was right. But the food was a huge let down. Not sure where these other reviewers are eating Mexican food because this shit was not good. I don't think I will return and hope that no one ever asks me to go here with them.

We won't go back - not when Border Cantina is right down the road with fresh food! We came here about a year ago and were satisfied with our dinner - the guacamole was great and the beer was cold... This time the guacamole looked like green pudding- I swear it was made from a powder- no flavor and the chips tasted like they were friend in old cooking oil... The waiter told me they would use fresh juice in my top shelf margarita but it tasted like a grocery store mix... I'm pretty sure the beef enchilada had dog food in it but the chicken enchilada did taste good... Very disappointed- Taco Bell with pretty murals

I have got to say that this restaurant is one of the worst Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. I honestly feel insulted and embarassed when they say it's "Mexican". Mexican food is not served in foil paper with no sides. The cheese they use is so generic and the cheapest out there. The service was mediocre. The chips were the only good thing. There was one waiter that was nice but that was about it. I honestly could not finish my meal, that's how bad it was. The decent and closest mexican restaurant around is south of the border...and that's coming from a Mexican from Mexico. I want to apologize to those have eaten there and ought that was real Mexican food. It's not. I would not recommend is place at all.

There are a few of these around, but this location is brand new. Not in the best location on Novi Rd right now because of construction, but if you're coming off of I-96, the construction does not interfere at all. It's just south of grand river. I have been here twice since they opened. I ate in the bar area on both visits and service has been very good. All mixed drinks and beer are 1/2 off during happy hour. Now to the food. The chips are fresh and warm. Salsa is mild, but has a good tomato flavor. So far I have eaten the chicken tacos and chicken enchiladas. The chicken is all white meat and shredded with some big chunks too. Stuffing was ample. Shells were fresh and crisp. Rice and beans are good. I'm a bigger fan of beans in general, so that's what I usually get. Enchiladas were good as well with a nice red sauce on top. My friend got a steak quesadilla. It was smaller than a typical quesadilla. I would say it's almost like a large flour taco. She liked it though and said she was full. I tasted my friend's chicken tamale. It was good. The sauce was dark brown and had a slight chocolate flavor, thou it was not quite a mole sauce. I say give it a try for sure. I'll be back again very soon :)

Solid Four Stars! Don't let the construction at Novi and Grand River intimidate you, because this is a gem of a restaurant. I picked up carryout on a whim after reading the Yelp review above this one. Ordered Chicken Tacos, a Quesadilla for the kids and Cheese Enchiladas for my wife. First and foremost they were accommodating to my slight modification requests which was appreciated. Secondly, they were fast! I had my order ready to go in 10 minutes. Last but not least the food itself. It was very good! Not sure what type of cheese they're using but it was creamy and really made the meals, especially on the chicken tacos. The salsa as mentioned was mild - a light kick, very tomato based but pureed and not chunky. Smooth is a great descriptive for the salsa. Anyway construction is over in a month or less. They're pining for new business and if you're in Novi and haven't been to Los Amigos yet, you're really missing out. What a treat! We'll be back!

Just ate here for lunch and all I can think of to say is "not good". It's cheap, quick, clean, but just not good. Would not go here again.

I went here for the first time last week and I can guarantee it will be the last. The menu is huge which always spells trouble but I decided to get the chicken poblanos figuring there would be some good heat to it and hopefully authentic. Wow was I wrong, the food couldn't have been more bland and tasteless if they tried, it's pretty sad when you have to ask for hot sauce to try and get some flavor at a Mexican restaurant. The fact that there couldn't have been more than 10 people in the whole restaurant between 6-7pm tells me that other people have figured out this place as well.

There is a family run feel to this place. The food has a homemade and authentic quality to it, albeit there is an American influence versus "authentic" regional Mexican cuisine. Well, so what. Go here to have the most enjoyable Mexican food experience in our area. Let's keep this one in operation! By the way, this restaurant gets you a whole lot closer to the border than the restaurant a little further South on Novi Rd. Note: full bar so your beer and margarita complements are readily available.

Been there several time for the $2 margaritas and chips & salsa. Fun for a social experience. Food is hit and miss. No ambiance! Under staffed.

Went very early on a Friday, was unpleasantly surprised by how dirty it was. Greasy palm marks on the walls, big chunks of food under the tables, dust, and even trash on the floor of the reception area. Chips were good, but salsa was bland. Dinner was fast, but that was the best that could be said for it. Very bland, and unappetizing looking. Hubby's dinner topped with obviously caulk-gunned spur cream. Mmmmmm. Service was good, too bad about the food. When we left, passing four laughing, texting employees laying all over the hostess podium, I wanted to snap at them, pick up a broom!

A little more authentic than typical texmex - great food, fast, good prices. Most importantly, GREAT margaritas! One of our new hidden favorites!!

Okay, coming from Southern Texas to Michigan made finding really good mexican food a drag. Finally, after at least 7 other restaurants in the area, my wife and I found Amigos. Hands down the absolute best mexican food in the area. We got the Tacos al Carbon (very authentic and delicious), and their fajitas. Both were very good portions and served with all the appropriate fixings- not just one or two. If you want mexican food, go anywhere-- if you want REALLY GOOD mexican food, go to Amigos.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
