La Herradura Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The bill for two came to 45 dollars with tip... a little pricey for mexican, especially for what we received. The chips and salsa to start were mediocre, a mango daiquiri that was 5.99 had little to no alcohol and didn't taste even sort of mango-ish. The Shrimp dish was swimming in some kind of spicy greasy cheese sauce and although it did come with 20 decent size shrimp and sides of beans and rice, both of which it had little flavor, at $12.25, it just wasn't worth it. Ordering the Fajita salad I found the same thing. Swimming in grease in a first fried and then baked shell, I didn't get anywhere near finishing the $9.95 salad. We also ordered guacamole as a side... 2.99 for something close to 4 tablespoons. The guacamole had fresh tomatoes, fresh cilantro and still had no taste. I didn't know you could screw something so simple up. The servers were quick and efficient and we were seated promptly but the only thing that this place had going for it was the decor. Another irritating note: the menu, although typed, was barely legible. Everything was crammed together, grammatical errors (and I'm no grammar queen), unappetizing pictures and pictures on pages that didn't even contain that menu item. Not planning on returning.

I visited today for lunch, however I was very disappointed. There is nothing Mexican about this Mexican food. The chips were stale, the salsa was watery and the food was extremely bland. They claimed the beans were homemade, however they clearly came from a can and beef was ground instead of shredded as it should be. I felt that they were trying too hard to Americanize their food. I wish it really they would serve some authentic Mexican food as their sign suggests. Sad to say I will not be back.

Second try. Very poor service. After 45 minutes with 1 drink, no food and no waitstaff, we left.

Ok, first off I am glad I didn't read the reviews before coming here...what the helk. I have been searching for a fajita quesadilla for so long that would hold a candle to the old joint I used to go to. This is as close as I have gotten! So yummy! And their margarita is really good, has a bit of a citrus finish to it. We have gone a couple times now and I plan on returning again and again. But I will probably keep ordering the same thing! *also service is great *fresh/hot chips and salsa

Food is bland and the service is worse. The waitress showed absolutely no personality at all. A couple I know had a similar experience a while back. I figured they hit this place on a bad day. I should've listened to my friends.

Went here on a whim and decided that I probably won't be back. The menu is confusing and there is a lot to pick from. We had the nachos supreme, steak and cheese burrito, and chalupa. Everything was okay but not spectacular. The best dish was probably the salsa. Also, there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant.

If I could give this place a negative I would. Everything but the grilled chicken is terrible. The grilled chicken tacos were good, but it was basically super seasoned pan cooked chicken. Everything else tasted like marinara sauce. Wasn't sure if I was at Italian or Mexican. The waiter made it seem like he was doing us a favor by helping. 1 basket of chips is the limit and they will tell you that! Literally had bad meat. Explained to the waiter and he said not my problem it's what you ordered. So I just got up paid and left. Will never return! Chorizo is absolutely horrible. Corn tortillas are disgusting. Everything was microwaved.

The place is on the exit of an Interstate and makes it easy to reach. I initially saw a less than 3 star rating but wanted to try it anyways. It does deserve a 4 star for the food and service. We were there on a Friday lunch. The tables are good and seat 8 comfortably. The menu was good with variety of options. The food is separated according to meat choices like "Chicken" "Seafood" and "Veggie". We were given some warm tortilla chips with fresh salsa. The order came in pretty fast for the size of the restaurant , to be exact it came in 13 min.. That's pretty quick. The condiments of hot sauce and habanero sauce were provided too. We didn't try the dessert but , there was a good selection in the menu for those. To sum up good, Mexican food with average cost per person $8 -$9 without drinks. Tip: Leave the tip on the table as we have to pay the check by ourselves at the register. I guess that more appropriate..

I had high hopes for this mexican grill when I stopped by to pick up lunch to go. The menu is huge and varied. The chips were served with mild but fresh tasting salsa. I ordered the #10 lunch special which is a taco, enchilada and chalupa for $7. These specials are only served with what is in the description, so no rice and beans. The chalupa (really a tostada) was very good with lots of fresh guacamole. The taco was average and only had lettuce and cheese, so tomato or salsa. The enchilada was not good, the thick tomato sauce was overly sweet and the whole thing tasted like pizza! If I came back I would try the veggie burrito but I don't think that will happen :( PS. After reading the other reviews I would like to add that the servers were extremely friendly. Also is it really that hard to "navigate" a menu? It's not War and Peace people!

I love this place. My elderly father likes to come here. He can be a little strange sometimes, but the waitstaff is always nice to him and he's even made friends with some of the guys that work there. The food is really good, the service is pretty fast, and I've never had a problem here. My dad likes to come here at least once a week, but he usually comes twice. I've never seen him so excited about a restaurant (or Mexican food for that matter) and it's heart warming to see my father banter with his buddies.

The food is delicious, however I've had terrible service on my last two visits. The waitress didn't write down my order and brought me the wrong food and I waited almost 20 mins after eating before my check was brought to me.

This restaurant is located in a strip mall off Beck Road. It has a flashy and colorful interior. The menu is massive, confusiing and difficult to maneuver. Chips and salsa arrived. Salsa took me by surprize. It was fruity tasting. Don't know what kind of fruit, but it was in there. I prefer the more traditional. Dos Equis was served ice cold. Perfection! My enchiladas arrived piled too high with lettuce and sour cream for me. Brought CHiChi's to mind. The actual enchiladas were tasty. Hubs stated that his combo plate was lackluster and bland. The staff was friendly and accomodating. I will give them another go when in the area again.

Tried to got eat here last night and walked out before being seated. Ask hostess for a table, not a booth and she said fine. She proceeded to walk past 4 4 person tables an d try to put us in a booth. We ask again can we sit at a table and she said the next waiter wasn't assigned to one of them. We said we could go else where and she gave a annoyed look. We left and went to a little place up the road call Borrito King just up the road and it was fabulous. Thanks for sending us to the best kept Mexican food around, don't let the name fool you it was great.

I ordered the steak dinner and I expected it to be some what decent like Burrito King. The steak that I got looked liked it was a ball of fat and meat. Not very good quality at all. Next time I'll make sure I go to Burrito King for steak dinner.

My husband, myself and my two kids ate here last night and it was not a good experience. The waitress was short with us and didn't listen to our orders. I had to repeat the kid's order twice and she STILL brought the wrong thing. I didn't think that one order of Popcorn chicken and rice would be such a hard thing to remember. The food was bland and not good at all. I got a taco salad and the "lettuce" was just the hard parts of the lettuce cut into large pieces. It was also expensive for what you get! We were charged $2 extra because the waitress didn't know how to take off the extra kids meal that she brought us. So when we confronted her about it while we were paying, she tried to give us a sob story about the computers being "too old" and she couldn't take it off. She tried to tell us that she would have to pay for the mistake herself. I knew that she didn't have to do that because I've worked in a restaurant and knew that these kinds of things could be changed with a manager's card. When the manager finally came out, she reprimanded the waitress in front of us in a very tacky way and then continued to make the same mistake herself. She never took off the extra $2 even though she thought she did and then didn't even apologize for making the mistake. We won't ever be eating here again.

Met a friend here on a Friday night and we decided to sit at the bar. The atmosphere of the restaurant is really, really cool which is a shame and a waste because nothing else was. We sat at the bar and there appeared to be no bartender. We waited a while and a man, appearing to be very rushed came behind the bar, grabbed some beers and as he left the bar area he mumbled what sounded like "be back"?? He did return and said, "You want a drink" Ummm...well...YEAH. My friend ordered a beer and I ordered a glass of wine that was served in what looked like a water glass and filled almost to the top! (Now we're talkin') The man who 'served' us also appeared to be waiting on tables because he had very little contact with us. When he did eventually come back I asked if they were short on help tonight and he said. "No." My friend said, "Oh, did the bartender call in sick?" and he replied, "We have no bartender." What kind of an establishment has a full bar and bar section but no bartender? We also noticed that there was no cashier either. Just a few servers (maybe 3 for the entire place?) and a young kid handing out baskets of chips. We were a little puzzled by the whole thing! Our food was nothing special. I ordered chicken tacos and was served beef tacos. The server argued that I'd ordered beef but since I do not eat red meat I was sure that was not the case. When we went to leave, we were given someone else's check and had to wait forever to flag the server down and get our correct check. As I said, very odd experience and we will not be back. This place could work if properly staffed!! When people go out, the go out to be served by friendly and attentive staff. Sadly, not here!

Very flavorless Mexican food. Not much other choice in this area, but I will not come back. The host and server were nice and courteous.

Dirty tables and menus, only one other table in the restaurant took over 15 minutes to have our drink order taken, almost an hour to receive food. The meal itself was very good, however our server disappeared for another half an hour after delivering our food. Despite the good meal, I would not recommend this establishment to anyone

I've been here twice. The first time was just for a drink in the evening on a weeknight. There wasn't a soul in the place, the 3 flat screens didn't work, and only Telemundo was on the small TV at the bar. So today I came in for lunch and there were 4 people here. I ordered 3 soft tacos and they were bland. The chips were also hard and old (I poured water on them just in case they tried to reuse them), but hey, the salsa was fresh! My Margarita was probably the only decent item I enjoyed. When I walked to the bathroom 3 of the employees were on their phones, one had a Margarita. I don't know how this place has stayed open for so long. This review was written on March 2nd, 2013.

I visited on lunch break from a nearby business. I'm not one to write many internet reviews but had a bad enough experience that I wanted to see what others were saying. Quality: The large margarita I ordered was very watery and weak and somewhat difficult to drink. The salsa was pretty good for the area I thought. The quality of the enchiladas suizas was acceptable and semi-authentic. Service: The service was the major problem. I was shocked as to how slow the entire dining experience seemed. I waited for 20 minutes after being finished with the meal (at a moderate eating pace) and decided I would go look for someone to take my credit card/payment. The waitress brought the credit card/receipt back five minutes later and turned her head away as she set it down; no smile, thank you, or any kind of exit greeting. The restaurant was not busy and perhaps slower than expected for a weekday around noon. The service left me feeling disappointed. The price versus quality dimension, while acceptable, will not make up for the poor service experience and I will not be returning. It seems as though the establishment may be struggling in some respects.

Alas, this place has gone downhill fast. Tuesday at six, we were the only ones there, but still took five minutes to get our drink order, and another ten to bring us a beer and margarita. Another ten after that to get our dinner order. At least we were entertained with playing swat the fruit fly. Dinner arrived dry, flavorless, and relatively pricy. My pork burrito looked really old, with sour tasting salsa verde. Took another ten minutes to get the bill. This will be our last visit, which is sad, given that we were so excited when it opened.

True Mexican food. Not your Taco Bell type of place. Has more of an adult vibe

today I had an hour to kill so decided to try lunch. I had driven by this new mex place many times and never dared to enter. it was about 1115am and apparently they had just opened at 11am. So 15mins in and the place was empty except for one guy in some apron at the bar. I waited a moment and someone walked out from some double doors and led me to sit down at the first booth. my first impression was of very garish and colorful wall art and art on the booths. there was a large tv on one wall. I looked around and there is quite a lot of seating area. A young guy came around with a menu and a bowl of chips and salsa. I was a little worried - i normally don't like it when the chips/salsa are free because you never know if the chips/salsa are fresh. I asked the guy for an ice tea and he smiled and left. I sat and looked over the menu - its huge - there must be 100 items on it easy. There was so much to look at I had no idea what to go. I decided just to get whatever was on special. the waiter came back with my ice tea and asked if I knew what I wanted. I asked is there a lunch special - and there was - it was $4.99 - taco, burrito, an enchilada. I asked the waiter what all it came with. the waiter mumbled something in spanish or english I could not tell. I repeated myself, finally he said he would check. Ok then so be it. Ate some chips - there were not fresh. and did not have much crunch either. the salsa was very mild. it was almost watery. it was almost like soup. I drank the tea fairly quickly and looked around for the waiter. About 5 mins later the waiter came back with 1 plate with 1 taco and another plate with what looked like 2 small enchiladas. I asked the guy where the burrito was and he pointed to the plate withe the 2 items and said thats the burrito and enchilada. Frankly they looked exactly the same... there was a red sauce on them and some crumbly white cheese. I asked the waiter does my lunch come with any beans or rice? the waiter said no the special does not. I said oh, I thought the menu showed the lunch specials with rice/beans on them. the waiter asked did I want rice/beans? I said yeah I expected to get some. The taco was small... there was literally 2 tablespoons of some sort of beef mixture - it was quite grainy almost mealy texture. And there was no seasoning at all. - very bland. also in the taco was some shredded lettuce and some of the crumbly white cheese. I ate the taco in literally 3 bites. I looked to the other plate. under the red sauce was a flour tortilla with the same bland beef mix and next to it in a corn tortilla - i determined was the enchilada was the same bland beef mix... Taco Bell is by far superior in flavor than this sludge. The waiter came back and handed me a plate of reddish rice and refried beans. the beans has no sauce or cheese or anything on them. the rice looked like it was salsa rice - but for some odd reason there was a few slices of what looked like green bean, a couple slices of a green pepper, and several peas. both the beans and rice were as bland and tasteless as the rest of the food. The only saving grace was the presence of 3 types of Hot Sauce on the table - cholula sauce, a red habanero sauce, and a hot verde sauce. I had to put a little of each on everything just to kick it up. In the entire time I was there the waiter visited my table 4 times and I never received a single Ice Tea refill. The food was bland and uninteresting. I received the bill and was shocked! the bill came to $10.56. OMG... they charged me $1.99 for the Ice Tea - which I never got a refill on. they charged me $4.99 for the worlds most bland taco, burrito, and enchilada. and then $2.99 for a side of Rice & Beans which were 1 step away from looking like leftover baby food. I was really miffed. the waiter came back and I told the guy It was wrong for them to charge me so much for lunch when it was nasty. And it was wrong for them to charge me an extra $3 for side items which should of came with the Lunch. the waiter stared at me like I was from mars. I asked for the manager. the waiter looked down and walked away. I waited and waited and waited. No one else came. I looked at my watch and it was now almost Noon. I had been there for 45mins and there wasn't any other customer who had came in. Pretty sad to be honest. I think I can see why... the service is spotty and the food is uninspired and bland. Finally I figured no manager was going to come. I left the money for the bill - exact change. and I took out 50cents to leave as a tip... I know it is not even 10% but the guy did not even deserve it. He barely even did the basic of serving tasks.

I ate here for a second time about two weeks ago. My first visit, back in June wasn't too bad. My most recent visit was not too pleasant. Our waiter pretty much forgot that we existed and took forever to come back for our drink and food orders. I ordered the steak ranchero, which was mehh... Unfortunately, the aftermath was even worse and I ended spending the majority of my sleeping hours being sick. The only good thing about this restaurant is the unlimited chips and salsa. Unless I am purposely seeking a sleepless night, I won't be back!

used to enjoy the food here. I took my folks, who had never been, yesterday to celebrate my birthday. We had the RUDEST waiter I have ever had. He had a stone cold nasty face, slammed down plates on the table with no emotion. We asked for more tortillas and were actually told we would have to pay for them-unheard of! We asked for the manager and the waiter disappeared and no manager ever came out. We brought up our concerns at the register with the owner or a manager? who was sympathetic and tried to take care of the matter. Why would anyone have someone like this working for them?

Quick, excellent service. Good portion size. Reasonably priced menu, which has so much to offer, that has lunch pricing as well. Very clean place. Good environment that isn't too loud like other restaurants.

Well, I feel the need to update my review of this place again. We went last night and while the food is still good along with the service, the prices have been jacked up on pretty much everything. We used to be able to get items without beans and rice. Specifically, I would get 3 tacos a la carte for $7.00. That is not an option anymore and the same item is $11.00. Adding $8 on a bill for two seems a little drastic and has taken one of the major perks of this place, which was cheap Mexican food. This place is now more expensive than On the Border or Mexican Fiesta. It is too bad, because this was a good place to go for cheap food. The raised prices have turned us off from this restaurant and it is doubtful that we will return. If we are going to spend the extra money, we might as well make the drive to Northville/Livonia or Canton for one of the other places that has better food and is now cheaper.

First time here. Won't be the last. At the risk of repeating some other comments, I was very impressed by the decor, really unique. Had the Steak Tampiquena and would place it up there with the best I have ever had. Great seasoning, etc. Chips and salsa were perfect. I spend about a month each year in San Diego which I sort of hold up as the best place for Mexican food and La Herradura would hold up against any place there. Try it....you'll like it.

Pretty good food. Good service. Just took a while to get our food. We did have a party of 10 though. And all our food came out at pretty much the same time and it was pretty hot. I had the chimichangas. Not the most authentic I've had, but not bad either.

I really enjoyed my most recent trip to La Herradura! The restaurant is inside a strip mall across from Providence Hospital in Novi. It is a rather large restaurant with colorful hand carved booths and murals. Very fun. And I noticed there was also a bar area and outdoor seating for warm weather (that better be here soon)! The service here is QUICK. Salsa and chips were immediately brought to our table. And drinks were brought over in a flash. The salsa wasn't that good. Very bland. We decided to order some guacamole too. The portion was really small but my kids loved it. It was super creamy and mixed with chunks of fresh tomato. Not bad. We all enjoyed our meals. I ordered an assortment of burritos. Three different kinds. The dish was supposed to resemble a Mexican flag: One was filled with beef tips and covered with a white cheese sauce. The beef was super moist and it had good flavor. Another was covered with red sauce and filled with shredded chicken. The chicken was good too but I still preferred the beef. And the third was stuffed with ground beef and covered in tomatillo sauce with a sprinkle of cheese. I really liked the tomatillo sauce but did not really care for the ground beef. It had no flavor. My husband ordered the taquitos and was raving about them. My son loved his tacos and my daughter did a good job on her quesadillas. I will have to agree with another reviewer that said that the menu was hard to read. It has six pages worth of choices and tiny writing. It took us a long time to figure out what to order. And it is more expensive than I would like it to be. We paid $56 for a family of four. And that is without ordering any alcohol. But overall, I will be back! Every entree came out piping hot and the service was super fast!

The first couple of times we came here, it was okay. Very cute decor and good service. However, tmenu is way too big and very hard to read. The last two visits were not as good. On one visit my beef was stringy and mostly fat and gristle. The next visit I tried a vegetable dish and was very disappointed with the obviously frozen vegetables. For the prices they charge, I really expect better quality. We won't be back.

Authentic tacos. Corn tortillas with onion and cilantro. Good chips and salsa. Beans and rice were very good too. I'd recommend La Herradura if you are in the area.

I would have given 4 stars but I got two completely results on two separate occasions. To be fair both were carry out orders. The first order was pretty fantastic and the second time was ho-hum so-so. This place looks like it needs some consistency in its performance as you can read from other posts. I hope to get another spot on performance out of these guys because when they do it wright it was really good.

We ate here on a Friday night and had a great experience. The service was great and the food came out super fast. The chips were warm and fresh and the salsa was good with lots of cilantro. My wife had the "Chimichanga Grill" filled with steak, chicken, shrimp, and grilled onions and peppers. Was covered with a tasty red sauce. I had the Fajita quesadillas with steak, and it was delicious. The steak was good quality and seasoned great with grilled peppers, onions and covered with cheese. (See pictures) The pico de gallo and guacamole were really good as well. We also had "fried" ice cream which was coated with a toasted coconut/caramel mixture, whipped cream, chocolate and a cherry. It was really good. We moved to Michigan a couple months ago and have finally found a Mexican restaurant worth returning too. I highly recommend this place...

I was so excited to try a "new" Mexican restaurant in Novi. My wife and I scarfed down a ton of chips and salsa...that was the best part of the meal. The guacamole must have been made in some third world country. It tasted like green dye, glue, and MSG. I had some shrimp meal and my lips swelled to the size of a balloon. Thank God Kroger's was next store. I was able to get some Benedryl. The strange thing is that I'm not allergic to shrimp?!? The bill came to $40 USD. My advice...eat at TacoBell. It's much higher quality food for 1/10 the price.

I have eaten here many times and have had good food and service every time. It is good mexican food, fast service (meals in about 5 min), and friendly servers. Good margaritas too.

  • Chris H.

Food was great - had the steak burrito, beef enchiladas, and beef tacos. If you like more authentic style Mexican food, this is a great place. Nachos and salsa were fresh and this is the only place I've found in the Novi area with an authentic burrito. If you're looking for "Taco Bell flavors" - then you're not really looking for Mexican food.

  • Katherine A.

This place is not half bad. I really enjoyed their chips and salsa. I had chicken enchiladas for my meal without the "red sauce" that they put on everything. I cleaned my plate. My boyfriend had a chi dinner and we both had water to drink. All together the bill was about $25 so it was reasonable priced. The service wasn't bad either. I would go there again. It's very colorful inside and has a nice atmosphere.

Eduardo was the best server this place had in all of Novi. This place has awesome salsa (sooo goood with cilantro), Ranchero burrito and margaritas are awesome also.

Went there with my husband despite the questionable reviews on Yelp, and I wish I hadn't. The service was terrible - the waiter was so rude and kept rushing us into ordering. Apparently, while I was still thinking about to order off their huge menu, he said "come on, it's just food" and walked away. Really? food is what you sell for a living. He's lucky that only my husband heard him say it( and didn't tell me until after we left), because I would have flipped out on him. The food was just ok. Of course the waiter never checked on us after the food came out. I definitely would not recommend it to anyone.

Came for dinner 12/22/14 & again 12/31/14 Warm chips with a nice salsa. The first time there the waitress gave us a free chip refill while we waited for our food. Service was a little better the first time. The second time was New Years Eve and very slow there, only three tables in the whole restaurant so unsure why the waiter seemed off task. We got our food and everything, just had to ask for drink refills and he never picked up one empty dirty dish or chip basket the entire time. So table maintenance needed improvement. We also ordered beef enchiladas and were given chicken ones. That said, the Polo En Mole is fantastic as so is the Quesadilla Loca. The fried ice cream has very little honey or chocolate on it so it is rather bland. The sopapillas are ok but you only get 4 so it is a very small dessert and the sauces are on the sopapillas there, not on the side like other places. If you save your receipt you can get 20% off your next visit too. I forgot mine the last time but I am saving the last one for when we return. UPDATE MAY 2015-- No longer giving 20% off coupons.. now only 10% off.. also there seems to be new cooks, 3 of our 4 orders had problems with it. ( no cheese sauce on Quesadilla Loca, very little beef on taco salad and on our take home fajitas, no tortilla shells)
