Great Mexican food! Authentic style place great prices and flavorful food!! If your thinking " I want some good Mexican food but don't wanna bust out the bank", you found the perfect spot. Best Mexican food in Niles hands down. I highly recommend El Amigo Pepe......

Not a bad spot. Good house fried chips, good salsa and they bring you some of the hot stuff without having to ask. I had the beef chimichanga, it was serviceable but not anywhere near great. I have a feeling there are better choices, just 3 stars until I find the good stuff on the menu. I'll be back.

Exvellent...there is a great authentic Mexican restaurant in Niles, MI!!!! So glad we found this place. My family tried different varieties of tacos and they were all good. Hubby had the burrito loco and loved it. The chips were homemade and the salsa was fresh. I foresee coming here everytime we come around this way.

I wouldn't consider this the greatest Mexican food I've ever tasted, but it deserves 4 stars for a few reasons and in no particular order... - It's not a chain restaurant and is probably the most authentic place you'll find in NIles - Amazing guac and chips (one of the most important factors in my ratings of Mexican food places) - Friendly service (though not the fastest), and fresh food - Good sized portions And of course, I have to mention some of the not-so-amazing things. I wasn't a huge fan of was the sour cream. Taste was fine, but the consistency was more runny than solid. Salsa had good flavor, but wasn't spicy enough. For my entree I ordered pork in my quesadilla. It was a tad dry, but the flavor was great. Really couldn't complain since they put both cilantro and onions in the quesadilla. How can you go wrong whenever cilantro is in the mix?

Super good! Trying to decide if I like El Amigo or La Perla better... it is that good. I try to eat here regularly, I love it.

This place is great. Their salsa is amazing, and chips are always fresh. I have a "special" order, extra this, no this, this on the side, etc, its perfect every time! Great for friends, families, little kids, adults, lunch, dinner... everything.

Excellent service and very friendly staff and owners! Definitely a great place to go to on Saturdays to get barbacoa! Rice and beans aren't that great, so far it's a really good taco place.

Gave El Amigo Pepe a try on a snowy afternoon. I ordered their large sherreded chicken wet burrito and a horchata drink. The burrito came out more-or-less dry. Tasting a bit bland.Though the drink turned out to be really delicious. Might want to try something else on theur menu! Prices are decent, not too expensive for their portions. Gave them 3 stars because it was nothing extraordinary. A one time dine for me in the Niles area. Cheers !

Omg. This place was delicious. It is just a little hole in the wall place in Niles, which is definitely a small town. My boyfriend and I each got the wet burrito and they were delicious, steak and pork. The house salsa was really tasty as well as the salsa verde and spicy salsa. The burrito was a little to big for me to eat in one setting but the leftovers were great. I definitely suggest stopping here if you are going through Niles

Decided to try this restaurant because of some good reviews. We have a place in Michigan so we like trying different places on Rte 12 on the trip from Chicago. I had a craving for a steak burrito with extra beans, hubby had 2 tacos. The burrito had very little steak in it, it was more beans than anything. I decided to open the burrito 1/2 way through and counted 6 SMALL pieces of steak in the remaining burrito. My mistake, I should have ordered extra steak, not beans. Coming from Chicago where we have many authentic taco stops could play into this but the lack of meat in the burrito is extremely disappointing. The tacos were merely OK, not worth stopping here again.

Not the most pleasant place to eat-in, however the food is sooooo goood :) everything we've eaten was delicious and cheap.

Fantastic food! I've never had a bad meal here. The service is always fairly quick and never unfriendly. The parking can be a bit frustrating, but the food is worth it. Prices aren't bad, a little higher than their competition in Indiana, but I'd rather pay a little more than drive to South Bend. For some reason if you go as soon as they open, the rice and beans taste 100 times better than during the evening. Don't get me wrong, they are amazing ALL of the time, just must make enough for the whole day in the morning so they are fresher then.

I have only eaten here once before, about 2 years ago - it was ok. Last night I ate here again- I had their steak fajitas- again just ok, nothing great. I felt a little "off" later in the evening - I spent most of the next day on the toilet- not pretty! I will NEVER take a chance on this dive again!

A big positive--their food is good. They have some negatives--not a lot of parking, décor is basic and definitely not fancy, and the tortilla chips brought out along with the menus are a bit tougher than most. But, I have it as 4 stars as the food is good. Service is attentive. They can probably seat only 30 people at a time, so this is a small space. But I keep coming back here as the food is good and it's also inexpensive. Haven't eaten here since two days ago, though. A bit hard to find, so watch for it immediately NW of a cross street on the left just after a McD's on the right (if heading north on 11th St). What do I like--tacos, enchiladas, flautas, burritos, .....

Delicious. Server was attentive but not overly so. Salsa was bland but they have hot sauces to spice it up. Chips are fresh and guacamole is awesome. If I lived here, I would definitely return.

I had the chicken quesadilla. It was alright. It is the most authentic Mexican in the area.

We decided to try this place after they won the chili cookoff a couple years ago. We got take-out a few times and the food was good. Steak tacos were tasty, as was the guacamole and pico. We printed a coupon from online and decided to dine-in. The service was not great, and the decor/seating left a lot to be desired. Our food was pretty good, but my son's hard shell tacos were inedible as they were grease-soaked. The coupon we had required a $35 ticket, so we ordered some fried ice cream which was a HUGE disappointment. I had never heard of friend ice cream covered in corn flakes, but I am not a fan. We received our check and handed the server our coupon. He said "Oh I dont think we are accepting these." I asked to talk to the manager. I was referred to a girl who explained that they had signed up for restaurant dot com but no longer wanted to participate. They had a note on the door that I did not see when we walked in. I was very upset. They offered no discount and refused to honor the coupon. We paid and decided we would not return to this restaurant. I contacted the coupon site and they informed me that the restaurant signed up to distribute a certain amount of coupons. They were supposed to honor all coupons sold, not decide to NOT honor them halfway through the promotion. Oh well, we won't be eating there EVER again!

I have been here twice now and gotten their burrito both times (i believe its the burrito loco the one with all the meats) and it is huge and very good and fresh. all for about $5 so its hard to pass up.

Excellent place to get AUTHENTIC Mexican food in Niles! It's inexpensive, and has that just great fresh taste to it, and not processed and full of chemicals like Taco Bell, etc. Highly Reccommend!

Mediocre food, bad service, and be sure to check your bill and credit card statement. Have been there a few times, when they were on 5th, they were actually pretty good. Not so much since moving to 11th and getting worse with each visit. Food is mediocre and now tastes like it comes out of a can or from the freezer. Will never return, if I want good Mexican, will go elsewhere, or even Taco Bell before this place. You get the idea. The service has never been one of their strong points, but the last trip was the pits. The waitress dumped food all over the table, laughed, and never brought back any replacements. Huh? Had to keep asking to even get what we ordered and paid for! When I received the credit card bill, it was HIGHER than what I signed the receipt for, so had card company take it off balance. How did that get changed? Complained to local police about legality of altering charge slip and apparently they have had this problem before and blame it on a "magically defective" system. Huh? Do yourself a favor and visit somewhere else.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
