Generic, low-quality Mexican food comes to Midland. At least the buffet is cheaper than the other places in town - $7.99 Cold, soggy churros on the buffet. Beans that tasted like they were made in a mop bucket. The pork was so salty, does anyone even taste the food before they put it out? Generic wholesale flour tortillas. Avocado from a bag that costs $2.50 for a tiny side dish of. The best part of the meal was the salsa and the chips. The chips were warm and tasted like they were made on the spot. The waitress said they were out of 'mild' and the 'hot' was pretty good. How badly run does a Mexican restaurant have to be to run out of freakin' salsa? If you like El Mexicano or Los Cuatros Amigos in Saginaw, you'll enjoy this food. I think it's terrible short of a couple things on the menu. The chicken chimichanga is good but how bad can you mess up deep frying a frozen chicken burrito? Save some money and get better food at the Taco Bell that's in the same parking lot.

I just paid $10 for a small pile of lettuce with 4 tomato slices, some avocado, canned oranges and pineapple. It's the Tropical Salad HOLD the shrimp. They gave me a dollar discount for ordering without shrimp. :(

We make a point of stopping at El Patron when in Midland. The food is very good and you won't go away hungry. Try the burrito bandera, you'll like it.

The crab in the burrito was burned and my wife had to pick through it and scrape off the burnt part to try and enjoy it. No one stopped by until we were almost done. The most they would do is take 10% off that entree (because "most of it was consumed"... Really?!!! That's how you determine a discount?). They did offer to make a new one but that was too little too late, we were done with dinner and they were minutes from locking the door. They don't value customers. We won't go back. If you go, get a table if you're not petite/skinny because the booths are tight. And best not to eat there during the last 30 minutes of open hours because they break out the Pine-sol in the back and the smell wafts into the dining area. It ruined my dining experience.

Horribly salty steak quesadilla was so salty it was unedible!! Salsa is blended and is only fair. Unimpressed with the food and service. Stick with Taco Bell next door which is cheaper and tastes better

The food was good and service was attentive. Everyone in my family was satisfied and said they would come back.

I have been to this restaurant twice and both times have been great! The food is amazing and being of hispanic decent can tell this is more authentic than I have experienced in this area since I moved here in 2010!! They serve you a ton of food even for the lunch specials and even though we had a new server on our second visit she did pretty well and apologized sincerely when she could not answer but was able to get back with us the the correct information. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and look forward to my next visit.

This place is so horrible. No matter how many times I come here it keeps getting worse. Service is horrible and food is sub par. This is only one of two Mexican restaurants in town. They both are not very good. I give them 1 star because there is no zero!! Stay away.

Service was quick and friendly. Food was good, came out faster than expected. Really enjoyed it, didn't have anything to complain about. Overall a very pleasant visit. Would def go again.

Hmmm, not sure where to start. OK seems to come to mind. Everything was just ok. The service and food were just ok. Sorry I have nothing more to say about it.

First time here but loved the food. Has a large menu of authentic Mexican dishes. Wait staff did seem a bit inexperienced but this place did just open within the last couple months. I will add to my review after I have been back here a couple more times but I am glad to see this place open in Midland.

Good food. Lunchtime buffet is a nice plus. Very typical flavor for the mid Michigan Mexican foods.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
