Stopped in just to try the ice cream and glad I did.

What a cool place this is! Like a throwback diner. We sat at the counter and ordered only ice cream. I got the sundae with butter pecan ice cream, caramel, waffle cone pieces, and bacon pieces. Yes, that's right, bacon! Two people who worked there highly recommended it, and I like everything else that comes with it, so I went for it! It was really good. The chewy bacon wasn't overwhelming, but the smoky taste with the sweet made for a really good combination. I ordered the medium size, and it was large, in my opinion, for a medium. No complaints here! In addition to a full sundae menu, they have a list of ice creams that won't quit. If they don't have it, I'd be surprised. You can also by the ice cream to-go in packaged containers under a separate brand name (but made by them....I just forgot the name). The atmosphere is classic diner, with old time music playing in the background. Great ambiance, clean, and great service. And as you walk out of the main ice cream area you can peek through a plexiglass window to see the attached ice cream factory in full swing operation where they crank out over 5000 gallons of ice cream per hour. Didn't have a meal here, so I can't comment on the food. But the ice cream sundae was delicious.

After camping at Ludington State Park we decided to get breakfast on the way out of town. The first thing we saw when walking in the door was some odd stuffed legs in jeans and poodle skirts hanging from the ceiling. I don't know how long those things have been there, but if the amount of dirt and dust on them is any indication, they've never been taken down and cleaned. Would someone please take those things down and wash them?! If those are so dirty, how clean is everything else? Having used the bathroom as well I can tell you the prognosis isn't good. The food was average for breakfast. Good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Next time we'll look for something cleaner.

Iced cream. Made at the big factory next door to the restaurant (some of which is made for and sold at stores you probably know or recognize by brands you do not). Served "parlor style" with additional "heavier" comfort'ish food. Just be a cone-licker and go here. You can thank me later. Is this the best iced cream I've ever had? Definitely not, as many are a bit blander tasting than I'd expect them to be. Is it tasty iced cream, though? Definitely. Tip-try one of the huge iced cream sundaes; finish them and you get a special button as a prize for your achievement!

Great flavored ice cream. So many to choose from. Great service. Very friendly people.

Excellent iced cream. Large food menu as well. Reasonably priced, tasty food. TIP: Don't eat your cones outside. It smells like sewage!

Line was out the door but it moves fast. we had ice cream only. Peanut butter cup in a waffle cone-worth the wait and totally delicious.

Loved this restaurant so much, we ate here for every meal after discovering it! Veggie stacker was seriously the best breakfast I've ever had! Dinners were all great too! Don't think you can go wrong! ! Never did end up having the ice cream, but it looked amazing too! Staff was very polite! Prices very fair! Can't go to Ludington without stopping here! !

The Ice cream portions are humongous and are at a great price. The atmosphere is a 1950s diner. There is an entrance for ice cream only and another entrance for dining. You can go up to the counter to order ice cream and enjoy it outside, or sit at the old-fashioned ice cream bar and watch the servers put together the ice cream sundaes. One of the best options for ice cream is called 'the flight'. It is a great way to try several of the flavors. You pick five flavors, and they bring out a very generous scoop of each. It is a great dish to share, as I could not finish it by myself. Definitely worth a trip, especially if you are in Ludington, Michigan.

A Ludington tradition! Classic diner with a decent menu and fantastic ice cream. During the peak season is terribly busy however it's worth the wait.

A large selection of ice cream flavors. Great good. Everything our group had was awesome. The turkey sandwiches are real turkey.

  • Kathryn D.

The atmosphere of The House of Flavors was really fun! Our waitress was really good at her job and made sure that everything about our experience was really fun. The food was just ok (although one person in our group got the Turkey and trimmings - so good!) but the ice cream was really good. Our caramel and bacon sundae was something definitely worth coming back for.

We waited in a ridiculously slow line for mediocre ice cream that was way over priced! I had a no sugar added cherry vanilla waffle cone. The ice cream was not creamy or flavorful at all. I have had better ice cream at the S.S. Kressgee's lunch counter when I was a kid, (their ice cream was pretty bad). After we waited for the not so awesome ice cream, there was no where to sit. These goofballs have like three benches for all of their customers. The weirdest thing is this place gives the appearance of making their own ice cream, but the freezers where filled with containers marked "Ashby's". The bottom line is that you would be better off at most any other place that has ice cream.

  • Jo W.

Well worth the stop for breakfast! Great atmosphere, cheerful, friendly service. Food was very good. Can't beat an extra egg for free! Almost gave 5 stars, only didn't because not all food was homemade. Vegetable scramble 5stars, triple egg house stack awesome, corn beef hash very good, great hash browns, biscuits from a can but still good. You won't regret a visit here. Ice cream looked amazing, but no room left to try!!

This review is for the ice cream only. To summarize, don't waste your calories. We have been sooo excited for ice cream since our up north Michigan trip began a week ago. There aren't many old fashioned type ice cream places in San Diego, so we've been stopping for ice cream every chance we get. This place had great reviews on Yelp and was also highly recommended on local websites. When we got there it was raining, but still busy, normally a good sign for an ice cream shop. The staff was helpful, but seemed reluctant to offer samples. They did, and after trying a few and getting their suggestions, we got 2 waffle cones with Tennessee Toffee, peanut butter brownie, and mocha almond. The Tennessee toffee was a staff favorite and it was pretty good. The others were a solid meh. The biggest issues were taste (pretty bland) and consistency (icey, not creamy). Also, the waffle cone was so small it didn't catch the ice cream drips, and it was so crunchy that it didn't seem homemade. Our son got a junior cone of blue moon, a must have flavor in Michigan, and it wasn't that good. Our expectations were pretty high, since our last ice cream stop was Moomers in Traverse City, so 2 stars may be a little harsh. However, I have to believe with all of the ice cream shops in Michigan, there had to be a better place nearby.

Turkey dinner is the best thing there! There ice cream is good but I don't think I will buy another ice cream cake there. Always friendly and have always had good servers! Cute old diner atmosphere!

Some of the best ice cream on the planet coupled with great diner style meals! What is not to love?

  • Evan L.

Had dinner here. a large salad, turkey & dressing and a Malted Milk Sundae. Service and food were very good the ice cream was the best I have to stop writing now its over 200 miles away and I'm getting hungry again.

Breakfast: avoid. Service was good but that's about it. Scrambled eggs were oddly made; in thin sheets. Killed the texture. Average toast. Undercooked potatoes. Ice cream: it's good but can't say it's better then any other ice cream I've had. Lots of flavors. Expect a 20min wait in the evening.

  • Zoran O.

As the only real option in town - it was good. The service good - nice atmosphere - but for the hardcore quality ice cream goer - it's enough to satisfy but not remember - other than it being the only option. If they had really high quality ice cream - this would be a huge hit.

  • Cristen M.

My boyfriend and I came to Ludington for the weekend. Being out of town, we were unsure where to eat! As soon as we walked inside, we were greeted by very friendly staff. The decor is perfect. The waitress was extremely nice. We ordered the strawberry French toast to share (which ruled) as well as our own plates of Turkey Scramble & Chicken Fajita Scramble. The food was awesome. The service was quick & friendly. Definitely worth the 10 minute walk in freezing weather & rain!

  • B W.

Absolute rip off. Ice cream is more like harneded ice milk. Portion sizes are so incredibly small for the exorbitant price ($3.00 for two golf ball - sized dallops in a child's Styrofoam drink cup). For 50 cents more you can buy the whole family an entire pint of Dreyer's "Slow Churn" from Walmart which is substantially richer, creamier and vastly more delectable. Lessen learned!

  • Pat V.

Okay, the turkey dinner! Just get the turkey dinner! The monte cristo with the turkey is really good but I just must have the turkey when we go! Plus, you get a small dish of ice cream with a dinner order, what can be better? Ill tell you what, the Tennessee Toffee flavored ice cream! Oh my goodness! I love this restaurant! You cannot leave this place hungry, usually I have to be rolled out and take a walk to feel more comfortable after all I've eaten. The shakes and malts come to the table overflowing, really enough to be a meal in themselves! The decor is cute, old ice cream stand type feeling! It's fun and the servers are nice!

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great prices. Great ice cream. I'm only adding this last sentence so it qualifies as a review and not a tip.

  • Jen R.

This review is only for the ice cream, which was excellent. House of Flavors offered exactly that... a great selection. Everything you look for in ice cream. Creamy, delicious, sweet, flavorful, and affordable. Servings we ordered were generous. I LOVED the Amaretto Cherry & Pistachio Almond. There were even frozen yogurt & sorbet varieties. The server (ice cream scooper) was efficient & friendly. Still decorated like an old-fashioned ice cream parlor, including counter & spinning chairs. A must return to during future travels!

    (5)
  • Bob J.

Good, but not spectacular food. They gave my girlfriend real instead of fake eggs. Their dark chocolate ice cream is clearly chocolate ice cream with a dark chocolate coating, rather than the ice cream being dark chocolate on its own. But hey, it still tasted good.

  • LJ S.

My oh my. One of my happy places in my happy place of Ludington since I was an infant! Love the atmosphere and Moosetracks! In my opinion, you can't beat the price for a couple fabulous scoops either.

  • Rebecca L.

Nice family restaurant! Meals are served quickly. Food is good -nice selection of lunch and dinner items. They have awesome breakfast food which you can get anytime! Service is good. The servers are all very nice; friendly. They are efficient. I've never had any difficulty with any staff there. One of the best ice cream places in town! They serve hand dipped ice cream who is awesome. Huge variety of ice cream and frozen yogurt. Clean restaurant with a retro atmosphere.

This place has a great atmosphere although a little loud. They have a full menu, but we chose to go for the ice cream, which was amazing! So good we went back 2 days later while on our vacation. A must while in Ludington, Mi.

  • Julia I.

I have been visiting Ludington since I was a kid and this is ALWAYS a must. My family has been known to buy ice cream cones here multiple times in a day. The food is pretty good, but don't be a fool. Get the ice cream! My favorite flavor is the Tennessee Toffee.

    (5)
  • Kristin C.

I grew up in Ludington, and every time I visit I make sure to stop here. Breakfast served all day is definitely a feature that I love about this place. Their anniversary cake ice cream flavor is absolutely amazing.

Delicious roast turkey dinner with mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy & cranberry sauce! Great flavor & large portions - not a bite left. Friendly staff & welcoming atmosphere.

I had a flight of ice cream and all five flavors were wonderful! The decor is great too....nostalgic murals and antiques. I'll be back!

I usually get burgers, and was going to, but then thought I'd try a wrap for once. AND WOW. I loved the buffalo chicken wrap. I got a shake and it was huge! Plus left overs in the tin cup they mixed it in. The food my family got was all good and no one complained. All good things to say. Service was fast and friendly. This place has good food and good prices--and they don't skimp on the quantity!

  • Mike L.

Showed up on a Sunday morning with 14 people. They had all of us sat within 5 min. The food was great, the prices were great, and the service was great. We would come back in a heart beat. GREAT PLACE!

    (4)
  • Katie M.

Stopped by with the family for ice cream. The servings are huge and well suited to the prices. The ice cream counter was entirely staffed by young kids, who didn't know what gluten free meant when we asked about a flavor. However, they grabbed an ingredients booklet right away and were very resourceful and super polite. Fairly standard flavors, not anything too adventurous, but very yummy. We would definitely stop again if we came back to Luddington. Tip: Saturday night the line to get in was wrapped around the block. Definitely worth the wait, but I'd suggest planning to go in during an off time.

Great ice cream, great service, very nice family oriented place that is nice for everyone to enjoy. Prices are not outrageous for such a popular place. They also have the best strawberry jam ive ever had in my life!

  • James K.

This is the place you must go to when visiting Ludington. An icon and an institution. You must have ice cream. Great breakfast served all day. For lunch and dinner I recommend anything with the fresh roasted rotisserie turkey.

  • Chris C.

Every once in a while you find a place that is worth driving out of the way for. Park Dairy/House of Flavors is totally one of those places. All the kids - from ages 1 to 92 - will love it. The Kentucky Bourbon ice cream may be the best ice cream I've ever had. It was that good. Like it sounds, it tasted just like sweet, creamy bourbon. The black cherry also really stands out (as you'd expect in Michigan). Remember that if you want a souvenir the Pig's Dinner (4 scoops, banana, and toppings in a trough), the Little Piggy (2 scoops, banana, and toppings in a trough), and the Super Pig's Dinner (7 scoops, banana, and toppings in a trough) all come with pins you can take home.

Alaskan pollack fish fry- All you can eat. Homemade ice cream from right in the building... Amazing!!

Great fresh ice cream! Interesting flavors, friendly staff and great prices. You have to go at least once. The lines can get long and wrap around the corner of this place.

My favorite is Tennessee Toffee and my husband's is Blue moon. Staff are nice, food and ice cream are great, and the price is reasonable.

  • Mike G.

Very good and ample breakfasts served here. Turkey hash was a bit bland, but not at all bad, and the free egg and onions offer can't be beat. Great iced tea, too, which is my "marker" for a good restaurant. Be ready for lots of kids and a wait, but I'll definitely be back.

    (4)
  • Jess Y.

Had breakfast on their restaurant side, which was decent. The scoop shop blew me away. A ton of different flavors, super friendly staff. The line may look long but it moves quickly. Be warned, the portion sizes are huge! Right within walking distance to to beach, cant miss out on this when visiting Ludingtion

  • Jon A.

I have been coming here since I was a child and it never disappoints. The food is delicious. Highly recommend Friday night all you can eat fish, the Reuben sandwich or the turkey dinner. No matter your taste, there is something for everyone, and that goes for ice cream as well. So many flavor and treats to choose from. So whether you just want a cup of coffee and dessert or a nice dinner, you can not go wrong with HOF

We stopped in here for the first time, while visiting Ludington, and the ice cream and homemade waffle cone was AMAZING!!!!! Definitely will be back!

Disgusting hygiene. Factory food. Lost our appetite in the middle of the meal and my husband had to walk out. The room was so trashed it was gross and the waitstaff cleaning it loudly pronounced it to be so. Proceeded to bring out a loud vacuum cleaner that of course was spewing up dust. When I asked if they can please not vacuum near us they looked at me like I was crazy. Couldn't even think about eating the ice cream.

    (1)
  • Chris Y.

Dinner was a major bust, my girlfriend ordered the Turkey and Trimmings which was luke warm and had to be sent back to be microwaved. I ordered the Hot Roast Beef Sandwhich. The beef was tough and very much lacking flavor. The icecream on the other hand was stellar, I highly recommend the Ultimate Peanut Butter Brownie ice cream.

  • Jose C.

Maybe it's because we decided to have ice cream on one of the coldest nights of the year, but the ice cream here was not that great. Average, and certainly not worth raving about. Probably not fresh. The restaurant was dirty. I know it was snowing outside and that it's hard to not track in snow and grime, but the floor was totally wet and dirty and in some areas, just dirty since the water had a chance to dry out. A little mopping would help with that. Having said that, the waitress and another waiter were very good and the place looks like it'd be better suited to cater to a summer crowd.

    (2)
  • Olivia K.

I come up here every year for vacation and this place is a must. Not only do they have the best ice cream around, along with fresh made waffle cones, but their breakfast, lunch and dinner is delicious as well. And most of it is locally grown.

    (5)
  • Stephanie D.

Every time I visit Ludington, I always have to stop at the House of Flavors! Very festive atmosphere, plenty of choices of ice cream, and the food is great as well! Breakfast is the way to go, especially the French Toast. For the ice cream, go with the Park Dairy Flight which allows you to choose 5 different scoops of ice cream. I only wish it was open later at night during peak season. After going to the beach to watch the sunset around 9-10pm, you don't have too much time to sit down and enjoy some ice cream when it closes at 10 during the week.

    (5)
  • Jeremy C.

Black Cherry Ice Cream. It's not a suggestion, it's a must. I have yet to find anything close to it. You can find similar in stores but it has chocolate in it and that is stupid. I love this ice cream place. Even the other flavors are good. I will literally stop in and get ice cream every time I pass. Whether I want it or not. It is that good. Do yourself a favor and stop in.

The three stars are for the ice cream. If I could rate just the ice cream, it'd be a 4. I worked here as a teenager. I used to LOVE the food. I went back years later, as a slightly more sophisticated adult and found the food to be nasty. It's all processed, from a can or box. I was offended by what they tried to pass off as 'food'. When I worked there, I was responsible for portioning out the roast beef for sandwiches. This summer I ordered a turkey dinner-breakfast. It was Stove-top, canned gravy, and canned cranberry sauce. Such a disappointment! The ice cream is yummy, though. They still make the same sundaes I served up as a scooper 18 years ago, and I LOVE the nostalgia, but will never eat a meal there again!

We were camping in Ludington State Park (great park by the way, but incredibly crowded in the summer), and decided to have breakfast here. Found the service to be great, quick and helpful. The coffee is good and they leave a decanter on the table. I had Sausage, two eggs, hash browns and rye toast (it was great rye toast, thick slices of dark rye with great flavor), all of which were excellent. Wife had cinnamon pecan french toast which was quite eggy with good cinnamon/pecan flavor. Only complaint was the syrup, which was either really cheap maple or just flavored corn sweetener. They served little cups of the best Strawberry preserves with the toast - it was not homemade, but comes from a local provider. The ice cream menu sounded fabulous, so we determined to come back for ice cream in the evening. It was a good idea, except for it was Friday night, and both the restaurant line and the separate ice cream line were just about around the block, so we decided we did not want to wait that long. The fact that it was so popular says to me that it would be worth trying again next time we are in the area, though.

    (4)
  • Steve H.

They had tons of ice cream flavors and other options, all of which were great. 4 stars because the service is very slow and could be sped up a bit. The best time to go is during the day, because in the evening it gets very busy.

  • Dan C.

Great food and the best icecream in West Michigan! It doesn't matter what time of year we go we always see some of the same staff members. Just a happy place!

    (5)
  • P S.

OMG. Best breakfast ever. Great prices, friendly staff, and of course their retro diner interior is amazing. The only complaint was the corned beef hash was not homemade. But the rest of the food... and ice cream... mmm I licked my plate clean.

  • Ray B.

Come late, stand in line. A timeless classic. Quality, fresh ice cream served by local kids. Maybe pricy, but worth it. Beyond that, you are on your own.

  • John W.

I've only experienced the ice cream at House of Flavors and it's top notch! They must have over 30 different kinds available. They are generous with the scoops, a single waffle cone is more than plenty for me. You get a lot for your money. When we went on a late Saturday afternoon the line was just out the door but it moved very quickly. The other subtle thing I like is they round their prices off the closest dollar, so you don't have to fumble around with change. Makes them a little more efficient too. Nice!

  • Vince A.

Was making a trip to Traverse and decided to stop in Ludington for a night on the way up. I was a Little Piggy. I loved every minute of it. Had the turkey dinner and a turkey wrap. The wrap was better than the dinner. Also paired the sweet potato fries with it and that was very very good. Then came dessert....Ordered the little piggy (two scoop sundae in a trough) and the ice cream is worth the trip and you get a button to prove you ate it.

    (4)
  • Tim G.

I had the Orange Cherry Chicken Stir-fry, others in group had the Smoked Pork Chop, Mushroom & Swiss Burger, Taco Salad, & Chicken Strips. And if course ice cream! Everything was excellent! Even though the place was packed, the wait time wasn't very significant. Will definitely be back if we're over this way again.

  • Dylan S.

Super fast service, great home style meals, 50's diner type atmosphere. Oh! And cheap prices!

    (5)
  • Whitney F.

Avoid the food but definitely have dessert! There are so many flavors of ice cream to choose from but you have to at least try the Blue Moon. It's my absolute favorite and don't believe what anyone tells you, it's not Tutti Fruiti or nutmeg or the blue from Superman, it's just awesome!

    (4)
  • Rob S.

A true Ludington Treasure! The food and ice cream are terrific! Love that place, we never miss it when were are in town.

On a random road trip with a friend and we stopped in cause we wanted ice cream. Decided to grab a meal and the food was very good! I like that they have all day breakfast and got the pancakes. My friend got a grilled ham & cheese which was very sizable and she said was great. then the ice cream- Excellent. Service was also very good and the prices very reasonable. If ya make it to Ludington, give it a try!

We drove 4 hours up and back down for Ice Cream and the chance to see the SS Badger pull in. This was something I used to do 35 years ago when visiting family and we were fortunate enough to do both during our trip last week. As far as HoF is concerned - the infamous Blue Moon ice cream is what to get - it's a must! Other then that it's really not much different then most other ice cream paralors with many flavors.

    (3)
  • Kevin N.

Visited HoF on the 4th of July. The wait time wasn't horrible and our food came quick. This place is a must-visit during a hot summers day. The food was typical cafe/diner meals with great seating and cool retro look. The Ice Cream choices were abundant and offered great variety. I would recommend this place to my friends.

  • Dean K.

This is a fun little place near the marina in Ludington. It looks like a staple for the locals. A 50's diner setting with American food and a bunch of different flavors of ice cream, sundaes, shakes and cobblers. Don't expect 5 star gourmet dining like some of the other low ratings on here apparently did. Stick with the basics like a burger or sandwich and you will be fine and have a good time. Very good place for families.....

    (4)
  • Jim H.

We ordered the turkey wrap, barbecued meat, Mediterranean sale and a strawberry shake. The food had good flavor and the portions were nice size. I would have given this place a 4-star if the shake had rattled my taste buds. You expect a better shake from an ice cream shop than what they delivered. I suggest they travel to Moline, Illinois and check out the milk shakes at Whitey's Ice Cream. No comparison!

    (3)
  • B F.

I have found the House of Flavors to provide consistently good service, the breakfast food is prepared quickly and almost always what I ordered. The dinner menu has some things which are not offered elsewhere in town. Ice cream either scooped for you or by the half gallon to go is good. In tourist season the place is packed because the food is good, service is efficient and it is close to the beach.

    (4)
  • Erin H.

I love this place! The decor and the vibe are awesome and I will definitely return again when I'm in the area. We started out thinking we were going to get breakfast, but lunch overtook us. The burgers and my sandwich were fab. I had the triple decker club sandwich and WOW thick slices of fresh turkey and ham. The onion rings were great and the service was impeccable. I had a FREE scoop of tasty mint chip with my lunch and my boyfriend had a strawberry shortcake sundae - delish!!

  • James C.

This is a family favorite for us whenever we are in Ludington or Manistee. The rotisserie turkey is a favorite. Both my wife and I prefer the turkey dinner, but the monte cristo sandwich is pretty great too. Also, the ice cream is outstanding. My personal favorite is the raspberry in a waffle cone. Kids love it.

    (4)
  • Joe A.

Even better than advertised. Not only is the ice cream made on site but the waffle cones are, too! Delicious! This is easily the most popular spot in town and when we showed at about 7pm on Labor Day, there was a line out the door and into the street. But they had about 5 kids working behind the counter who had it down to a science, so with about 60 people ahead of us, we had our ice cream in 15 minutes. I can't comment on the adjoining restaurant. And while the 50's rock and roll jukebox decor is festive, it borders on tacky. But so what? In a summer resort lake town ice cream parlor, quaint works. Big time.

There are two ways one can approach a review for this restaurant. You can review it for the food. And if that were the case I would give this place two stars. The food is pedestrian diner fare. There's nothing spectacuar on the menu, and the food tends towards the fried and the greasy, as one would expect. However, this review is mainly for the ice cream. My family has been going to Ludington for over 30 years, and inevitably we make several trips to House of Flavors for ice cream. Much of what they sell is produced in-house, and the ice cream is made from locally-sourced dairy farmers. They also sell Ashby's Sterling ice cream, in addition to their own brands. I have yet to have a bad ice cream from the over 30 flavors they offer. The ice cream is not fat and rich as a Ben and Jerry's is, so it doesn't leave you feeling weighed down afterwards. Which is good if you're riding a bike through town, which they provide a bike rack for. The serving sizes are generous, and some toppings, such as waffle cones, are produced in-house. It's a fun place in the summertime, frequented mainly by tourists. It also has the advantage of being open unil 11pm, making it one of the few places in Ludington you can get a late-night meal. All in all, House of Flavors is one of the few food destinations in Ludington that is worth the stop.

Food was not bad but I have to give it one star because the waiter was not fit for the job. If I was the owner I might spend a couple minutes on training.

One of my favorite places to eat. The breakfast is great- big portions and delicious (and a good deal if you do the early-bird specials!). Love the turkey pot pies and burgers as well. Also, it doesn't hurt getting some free ice cream with a meal in the off-season! :)

I was a pig at the house of flavors. My mother has the yearly pin from the HOF for the last like 50 years. It's a yearly tradition to go and get the latest pin. The food is pretty good here but the ice cream is really the reason to go. Blue Moon is really good and unique flavor here.... of course all of their sundaes and speciaty ice creams are good. I like the scoops car-ferry, and of course the pig's dinner. 4 Scoups of ice cream may not sound like a lot... but its a LOT here. They serve it in a trough.

Breakfast was so good, we came back two days in a row, and had lunch the third day. Great food, service, atmosphere - a 50s diner, ok, maybe 60s. And the warm apple crisp with vanilla was outstanding. However, the promised "Michigan cherry" on top was not from Michigan. Don't let that keep you away.

I had lunch there today after a meeting with the fire department. They know food. The hot turkey sandwich was outstanding. They have them baking in the kitchen window. Sure it looks like a huge ice cream shop, but the menu was solid and the service. Not over priced like most tourist area places.

Agree with most--ice cream very good, food so-so. Almost got the turkey dinner but got the asparagus turkey sandwich instead. Didn't one of these reviews say you could see a rotisserie turkey when you came in? I didn't, but the turkey was tasty and fresh on my sandwich. Asparagus was sparse, would have ordered an extra side if I'd known since it was in season here. The decor is confusing: Is it a 60s diner or an homage to the Grateful Dead with all the tie-dye? They really don't work together, but hey, we're here for the ice cream, right?

I love House of Flavors for 2 things: 1) cheapest breakfast special in town 2) the world's best homemade strawberry freezer jam. (Take some home!) Both are requirements for all trips to Ludington, including todays. :-)

This place is frequently bananas, especially when there are tourists (like yours truly) in town. However, it's one of a few places in Ludington that you don't find someone else somewhere else doing better. Scoops are HUGE! I ordered a double, assuming incorrectly that they had to be tiny as they were so cheap! The flavors (I had a scoop of cherry and a scoop of peanut butter) were amazing. Worth the wait.

I love the House of Flavors. Not only do they have excellent ice cream made in-house, but they also have an extensive and excellent menu. The non-dessert food doesn't suffer purely because the House of Flavors is known for its ice cream. The atmosphere is fun and 1950s with bright pastels next to classic black and white tile. I love the turkey cooking on a rotisserie near the front of the restaurant. The service is always excellent no matter how busy they are. Be prepared to wait at lunch and dinner time, especially in the summer, but rest assured that the food and dessert is worth the wait. My favorite entree is the nutty chicken salad: two generous scoops of chicken salad served with fresh fruit. I always undo any health value obtained from eating nutty chicken salad by ordering a side of waffle fries (which are cooked to protection). For dessert, I recommend any one of the ice cream flavors, but I always order a Hokey Pokey sundae: French vanilla ice cream drowning in butterscotch and hot fudge topped with salty pecans, whipped cream, and the quintessential cherry. You don't have to sit down if you only want to order ice cream. You can line up around the corner and order a cone or sundae after a long day on the beach. I have a lot of happy memories at the House of Flavors, and I hope to continue making many more. It's a local restaurant that never disappoints.

Brinner can never be a bad choice!! AND i love the fact that you get a free scoop of AMAZING ice cream for free with every meal purchase. I had the peanut butter brownie ice cream... Mmmmm... I want to go back across the country just for some more ice cream!

Come here for the ice cream - the chocolate malts are fantastic! On the other hand, the food is only so-so. I was disappointed with the dried cherry chicken salad (bland chicken on iceberg lettuce) and the hubby thought that the turkey part of the turkey dinner was rather blah. The service is very good, with friendly and attentive waitstaff. So, five stars for the ice cream, and two and a half for the food.

Serves breakfast all day. Had some great french toast with pecans on it. Was just what I needed. My husband had an omelet that was smaller than he is used to, but said it was good. We went back another day for dessert and were not disappointed. My husband and son split a dessert that was brownie covered with ice cream and chocolate syrup. They said it was decadent. I had the apple crisp and ice cream. Nice hot crisp and cold tasty ice cream. Couldn't have been better

We were in Ludington for the 4th of July weekend. There was ALWAYS a line out the door for ice cream. We weren't sure it was worth the wait, but took a chance. It was definitely worth it. The waffle cone was still warm, and the ice cream was amazing. We will have to try the diner next time we are in town.

The flavors were perfect and the staff handled our ELEVEN orders like pros! No complaints here! And the scoops were double the size you would find elsewhere.

I love House of Flavors! My husband's family has been coming up here for ages (his family originally settled in Ludington) and I started coming up with them 4 years ago. One of our stops is always House of Flavors (usually 3 or 4 times in a week). When we started planning our wedding, we knew we wanted it to be in Ludington, and we wanted HoF to be part of it. Ann and Barry are the greatest, and the staff was nothing but wonderful to us during our party (we had about 20 people), even though it was a Friday and they were jam packed. They even made all of our guests "Little Piggies" with 2 scoops of whatever ice cream we wanted and 2 toppings. It was amazing! Thank you to everyone at House of Flavors, and we'll see you soon!

Had a very nice old style American breakfast. It was tasty and, despite being all about eggs, cheese, and hash browns, it was not fatty or unhealthy in any sense. Very friendly waiters and a good place to start your day.

had a quick lunch here today while I was in town and this place is as great as it's ever been. the food and service are great and the ice cream, of course, is to die for! :) if you are ever in town highly suggest hitting this place up. however, if youre in the mood for icecream and its a warm summer night, plan on waiting, everyone in town has the same idea as you do!

We went to House of Flavors Restaurant twice this week. The first time, we only had ice cream. The second time, we had dinner and ice cream. We had the turkey dinner and the chicken salad with dried cherry. The dinner was ok, but not outstanding. If I were only rating this place based on ice cream, I would have given this place 5 stars. My son had a baby scoop of superman ice cream on a cone. The baby scoop was much bigger than what I had expected. It was big enough for my two preschool aged children to share. I did not see baby scoop listed in the menu, but apparently it is available since our server asked if we wanted a baby scoop for our child. My husband and I shared the 5 scoop ice cream sampler. It was more than enough for 2 people. Our favorite flavor was the amaretto cherry ice cream. We loved the ice cream so much that we came back the next day and got another 5 scoop ice cream sampler.

Best ice cream hands down. On summer nights, you'd find a line out the door (or around the corner) from afternoon to closing.
