I wasn't expecting much when I rolled into this place. It looks pretty worn down. But you just drive up to one of the spots, order, roll down your window and they bring out your food on a tray that sits on your window. I got the hammy sammy and it was bomb! Toasty bread, warm ham, just enough mayo, cheese. Delish and the waitress was sweet. Cheap fast and good.

It's too bad I have to boycott Nip N Sip. They are anti-public schools. Their food was good and when my wife was pregnant nobody made a chocolate milk shake better than them. If they got rid of the Blended Learning banner I would return.

    Hammy Sammy, highly recommended.

Coney dogs & the Hammy Sammy with a ice cold mug of Rootbeer. That is all I have to say. I am shocked that there is only one review for this place. It is a must stop for us when we are in the area. Everything we have had is delicious. I love the ordering from the vehicle & having my food brought to me. We were lucky enough to go when Coney dogs were 99 cents. I, of course, got 2 and my hubby got the Hammy Sammy. We regretted, almost immediately, not getting the onion rings. Oh well, guess that will be for next time.

If it was not for my friend I would have driven past this place and never thought twice. Great food and it comes out quick. Don't drive by, pull in and enjoy.

Omg the olive burger is awesome! Get the onion rings they are fresh and yummy. You can also ask for a frosted mug for your drink if you don't take your meal to go.

Too bad the portion size of their fish and onion rings got SO small! Not worth the price! I remember it being the best in town. I won't go back.

This place (in my opinion) is phenominal! They have the best chicken salads! The best onion rings! The freshest tasting food in the lansing area. You just have to try for ya self and see what i mean.

Love the burgers. Super tasty with a reasonable price. The staff was friendly. The wait time was reasonable and well worth the wait.

who ever said "no" to a little nip? am i right?!?!?! we decided to venture out of our normal comfort zone and headed to the nip n sip for some traditional drive-in fare. we first pulled up to one of the many drive-in spots with an attached menu that looked like it hadn't been changed since the 1960s. we picked a diverse selection of classic fast foods. little did we know the surprise in store for our mouths. despite the janky surroundings, we were met with a flavor explosion. we ordered the olive burger, double burger, french fries, onion rings...and a half gallon of diet pepsi (bethy's favorite menu item to date). the french fries and onion rings were pretty tasty--although we had to add salt. the onion rings looked like they had gone through several rounds of deep frying--no complaining here. as for the burgers, oh my god. the buns were good--soft, supple, and not soggy...just how we like our buns. the meat was good, and the ratio of toppings to burger was adequate. the burgers also weren't greasy at all--tasted like meat, and not like oil. the olive burger was the best one to date--and we've had a lot of olive burgers. the double burger was a little surprise in your mouth. looked like a big mac (3 buns), and there was chili on the inside. not that we're complaining. super cheap--we only paid about $11, and put as much food in our bodies as we could handle. basically, $11 for 2-person all you can eat burgers, fries, and diet pepsi. great specials everyday. also not recommended as a place to dine more than once or twice a year...unless you're interested in diabetes or heart disease.

It is asinine that I have never been to Nip-N-Sip. You see, the Lansing area was my stomping ground from '91-'98 and Nip-N-Sip is "legendary" around these parts. During a recent trip to Lansing, I requested that my two friends accompany me to Nip-N-Sip. It's a drive-in complete with ordering through a speaker and waitresses in short shorts. Nip-N-Sip is known for their Hammy Sammy. I knew one of my friends was going to order this so I opted for an Olive Burger. Everything was delicious (including a onion rings, malt & Boston Cooler) but cheese fries were just okay. Super friendly and happy waitstaff. I am no longer a Nip-N-Sip virgin.

I'm updating this review just because I feel that in the recent months the quality of the ingredients and service have slipped some, I still like the food but the burger, tomatoes and lettuce have been pretty bad lately. I'd consider myself as a fairly regular customer, so it's pretty easy to pick up on these things. I'm not sure to as why the quality has dropped but I sure hope they get their act together soon! With my most recent visit, I didn't actually get served, it was pretty busy because of Common Ground and we waited 15 minutes after pushing the button to order with no service. One of the employees served the two vehicles next to us and never bothered to see if there was an issue, now I know I could have walked in or drove up to the window but after waiting that long we decided to just go to Olympic Broil- I didn't feel like wasting any more time considering that we were going to a concert. I suppose there could have been a malfunction with their ordering/ intercom system or maybe they were just that busy to oversee my order but it seems to me that the same employee should have recognized that our car was sitting there so long considering she had to walk between it four or five times. Get it together Nip & Sip!!!! It's time that you update your building, intercom and DON'T cheapen the ingredients!!! I originally had rated them 5/5, minus two for the rash of recent problems.

Is BEN H. SERIOUS??? He JUST reviewed initially in JUNE! And NOW, out of nowhere a month later, they need "new speakers, etc" when just in JUNE, he was cool with it. LOL! NIIICCEEEE. Firstly, the speakers, menu, etc really keep in the charm of the restaurant and the 50's old-style drive-in's. It's a CONCEPT...not about "updating". I can't comment on the lack of "quality". I, personally, haven't experienced anything like that. In fact, we just ordered tonight and I had NO issues with anything. The lettuce in a SALAD was green and crisp (as was it on a sandwich). But, I can see how things may be dependent on their suppliers/area of which produce was grown. If it were me and I were questioning what I received, I would've let someone (employee, manager, owner) my experience. It is difficult to "fix" things when someone doesn't let their concerns be known. With all of that being said, you can get one heck of a meal for the money. They truly load you up and you do get more bang for your buck than at a certain fast-food place across the road and down across from the middle school. $6 will buy one a double cheeseburger, onion rings, and a heck of a garden salad. I am stuffed....I had to give half of the onion rings to my husband! Who wants to pay outrageous fast-food costs for nearly nothing when you can get Nip n Sip? Their subs are pretty loaded, as well, with some GREAT bread. I am pretty picky when it comes to bread and Nip N Sips almost feels/tastes homemade to me.. If it isn't, it's a good rip off of it! :) The rootbeer is awesome...a MUST have when you go. And how can you NOT dig the trays being hooked to your window?? You just don't get that anymore! Try their COOKIES! OHHH MMMMYYYYYYYY. Addictive. How does that happen at a DRIVE--IN? My next venture: a boston cooler. YUM. The lot isn't huge for the crowds it tends to draw on a warm summer evening so you have to time it right.....the crowd ALONE speaks VOLUMES for a 'review". :)

How does this place not have any reviews!? This is one of the best "fast food" experiences in Lansing. It is an old fashioned drive in, where they bring the food out to your car, if you order a root beer and are eating in, you get a frosty mug! Their fried clams are amazing, the onion rings are beyond belief (I actually save leftovers and heat them in a fry pan for the next day, they are so amazing). Their hammy sammy is HUGE, and while just a simple ham and swiss, it surpasses what is available in other places. As for their hamburgers, I normally hate them, but will eat one from Nip n Sip! Their fish dishes come with homemade tarter sauce, and they have a tasty coleslaw side. Finish your meal with a Boston Cooler (ginger ale and vanilla icecream), a treat I've only ever seen in Flint before I discovered Nip N Sip! Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on their menu.

This place is great! Service was awesome, food was greasy and tasty just like you'd expect from an old fashion burger joint. We fed a hungry family of 5 for under $30 bucks and everyone was more than full!

After many meals in the city of Lansing, I was finally introduced to Nip N Sip last month. It was really kitschy with little speakers for ordering while in your car, and the prices look like they haven't changed since the 80s. Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not complaining. Try the malts. I finished one and immediately ordered another, they were that yummy.
