Very colorful restaurant. I like it and they have outdoor seats too. The service was good. I ordered the Pollo Ranchero and It was a lot of food and delicious! It was the 4th of July so almost everything was close around the hotel I was staying and Tres Amigos was open! Yay! The menu is huge they have a lot of plates to choose from.

I'm just starting to get back in to writing Yelp reviews, and couldn't resist this one. Ok, so here's the thing: The food is so-so. It's lower than average mexican food, but you know that when you go to this place. What you don't know, however, is that you may be offered illegal drugs in the men's bathroom by the kitchen staff. Yes, that happened to me (I declined his offer). To confirm, this is for the Downtown Lansing location ONLY.

Service was slow, not because the restaurant was busy, but because our server was busy socializing inside the restaurant. Food was just okay. Margarita on the rocks was average, a bit too sweet for my tastes. Salsa was fresh but chips appeared to be store bought. My friend had the enchiladas supremas, I had the chicken chimichanga. Both were okay, but nothing to write home about.

Me and a few friends made a random stop for dinner on a Sunday here. A little skeptical at first, considering it was not very busy. However, the staff was extremely friendly and courteous. We were promptly greeted and seated and drink orders taken within 2 minutes of sitting down. We were on a time restraint and they were able to take care of us and get us out the door within 45 minutes. Not only was the staff exceptional, the food was equally impressive. We started, of course, with the complimentary chips and salsa and added an appetizer of Queso Fundido which I highly recommend. Each of us (6 girls) tried something different and not one of us had a complaint; from a chicken quesadilla, vegetable fajitas, chiles poblanos to burritos and enchildas. I only wish we had the time to test out their bar!

Chose to go here on a Sunday with friends because of their advertised Kids' Day special: all kids meals for $1.99 each. Great! However, when we walked into the empty restaurant with our 8 children (between the 2 couples), we decided it best to verify the deal. So, after getting settled and ordering drinks, we asked about it, and were informed they did not participate. We paid $5 per kid because they were hungry and finding a new place to eat would take too long. We found out later by contacting corporate that the manager told an untruth, and they should have given us the deal. Maybe they thought they would lose money with so many kids, but that would be discriminatory, right? So corporate apologized and sent a gift certificate for $20. Unfortunately, that doesn't even cover the overcharge for our kids meals. I pointed this out and my email was not returned. Anyway, the waiter was pretty rude, the last meal out arrived as the first was finished up, and the whole experience was pretty annoying. I guess we can use the gift certificate as a book mark or something.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
