The food was not too bad, the taco shells on the #16 combo were perfect! Decent flavor and the sauces were great. The rice and beans were a nice touch, make sure to add jalapeños to them! The taco shells were reminiscent of the ones I would get when living in San Diego.

No consistency . During the day can run great , good timing on delivery and food quality is high. However order towards the evening be ready for horrible delivery time horrible food and horrible service its like kids take the place over this is coming from someone who has eaten this food for over 20 years. When we order from work which happens to be a very large dollar amount our food is perfect when I ordered from home food was horrible would not recommend these people after 2 p.m.

Great place best hot salsa ever. Whenever I'm in the area this is the first place I go to.

I love their food and they have the best salsa in tow by far! Too bad their waitstaff is rude and they never give you enough of their salsa!

I ordered lunch here today. I called and asked for a taco lunch special and an enchilada lunch special. The tacos were stone cold, the meat, the tortilla, and the processed cheese (I really think its velveeta!) The enchiladas looked like tortillas covered in chicken gravy, but wait, there were seriously logs of that bright yellow processed cheese in the middle of them! Not melted, still square, chunks! The special part included chips and salsa. No beans. No rice. The two meals cost almost $15 and my enchiladas had no meat at all! Thought we were getting something good and we were bamboozled!

Wow, this place swings from one extreme to the other. Today I ended up at Famous Taco mostly due to a lack of time on break and road closure due to a water main break (maybe Karma steered me there). With a feeling of dread, I pulled in. Hey! They've paved the parking lot! Upon entering, I noticed immediately the interior was much cleaner. Floor and tables were all clean. The wainscoting has been changed, and I heard Peggy de la Cruz say they're going through a slow remodel. A new server brought me a menu and greeted me before I even sat down. I placed my order and requested a knife, in addition to hot AND mild sauce with the chips. She paid attention to detail and didn't forget anything. The food came out quickly and it was quite hot (temperature). Service was spot-on. I am giving this visit to Famous taco the following grades: A on Great Attitude from Service, A on Cleanliness, A on Speed from the Kitchen, B on Quality of Food, A on Speed with the check and beverage refill, and A on comfort (the furnace was running and it felt great). Great job!

We don't come for the decor or hospitality. Although, we have always been treated well. We keep coming back for the Tacos. They are delicious.

Back in the day after a long night out, I mean studying for exams....Famous Taco hit the spot on numerous occasions as they deliver! I loved, loved, loved the tacos which had heaps of cheese...and I love cheese! It comes with rice and beans, which are both good, but nothing unusual about them. I never tried the breakfast, but wanted to note it's existance. Taco mush and taco delight were my frequent orders.

The food here is 5 stars.... Minus 1 Star for run down decor that sometimes errors on the side of sketchy. I have been following the illusive Famous Taco for about 10yrs now. I cant even count how many times I have had a craving for their homemade chips and salsa leading me to drive 30 miles only to find out that location has closed down and I must start some detective work to find their newest location. Famous Taco has the best nachos north of the south pole, honestly these would probably be my last meal. Nachos deluxe with no beans and no peppers. The nachos are homemade and and about as large as your hand. They come piled with rich ground beef, melted cheese, fresh guacamole, and sour cream, and of course you add some of their fresh salsa; honestly just melt in your mouth good. Please, please, please, whatever you do don't be scared away by the outside of the building, or the not cleared off tables, or the tables that are uneven, or the sometimes not so service orientated server, or..... just go and enjoy the fabulous nachos. I can not vouch for any of their other food so just trust me on the NACHOS DELUXE !!!

This place is very good! There used to be one in Grand Ledge, but went out of business. The decor is very colorful and nice. A couple issues I have is the parking is terrible and the waitresses take a while to refill drinks. They seem to be undermanned every time I have been there.

Had their dollar tacos. Not bad, shells were a little greasy but for a buck you can't expect fine dinning faire. We will be coming back!!

If I was grading solely on $1 tacos, this place would get five stars. Seriously, that's just about all I get here. $1 gets you a small, but flavorful, fried corn tortilla taco with either ground beef or chicken. Both variations are excellent and come with lettuce and that wonderful shredded cheese that is oh so creamy in texture. So good! You also get mild or hot sauce with your taco order, which is pretty flavorful and fresh tasting. Now, I have to take a star off and I'll tell you why. For one, the place seems a little run down. I have never, nor will I ever, use the drive thru because it looks like a nightmare. I usually call or go inside and place an order to go, they are very quick and friendly. I've also tried delivery once which was so fast and relatively inexpensive. The interior of the joint isn't quite as bad as the outside, hand painted decor and murals are all well done. And to be honest, the only other thing I've had here are the nachos. I was not a fan of the chips, too thick for me, but the toppings were great and plentiful. Overall, this is my favorite taco in Lansing, both for flavor and price. I would recommend it to anyone.

These dudes just delivered my food in under fifteen minutes after phoning in my order. They don't stick it to you on delivery charge. The food is hot and tasty. It's not the best mexican food you'll ever have, but it's very much worth the money (especially if you want delivery).

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Ok, the chips and cheese are delicious, but beware they do have onions in the cheese! I personally think the best thing is the white wet burrito! It is slightly salty (which I love) and it will feed a whole family. The beans are pretty good too!

The BEST mexican food in town! Not a classy place by any means, and the menu appears pricy when compared to the appearance of the building, but more than worth it! Nobody does hot sauce better! I've been a fan for many years, and have always referred people. Don't let the decor sway your decision to give them a chance, it just don't get better! I like it spicy, the number 7 is a meal and then some! My wife doesn't care for the spice, so the taco dinner does it for her. The breakfast burritos are also VERY good! This is NOT Mamacitas Famous Taco, this is the Original Famous Taco! You have GOT to try it! Did I mention they have delivery?

this place is a disaster. fruit flies wizzed by as i waited for my order to come out. the entire time the cashier & delivery guy were discussing some delivery that got messed up. got home, opened container & it turns out they forgot my fries & gave me the wrong dish all together. it looked like a hot mess so i chucked it. don't know what their food actually tastes like since i didn't eat it but the flies killed my appetite & it was a complete waste of time.

One of my favorite taco spots in the midwest, second maybe third from the one in South Bend, Indiana. We'd get these catered at work maybe once or twice a month.. SO GOOD.. and the salsa that they make, some of the best I've had.. flavorful, NOT weak and fresh. This place definently serves some of the better ethnic foods in this area. Chipotle, Kiss my ass.

1 dollar tacos are great dive through was a mess the parking lot is a mess. and the run down building is a mess. the interior is kinda a mess. menu leaves much to be desired. i wonder if the owner uses the computer because they would see instead of buying out another decent mexican food place and crowning it famous taco. they would put some freaking money into their eatery. Its funny they have pictures of the old place or original location and i ask myself when did they decide to do what they are now. oh yah watch out even though they say free delivery they will put a delivery tax on your bill. that always seems shady because does it go to the driver or is it a way just to charge you more.

I lived in Lansing like 10 years ago, and this place was the best. The chips 'n' cheese alone made it worth a visit (and they delivered, which was great for my laziness, less so for my waistline).

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
