Used to go to the one I think in the Novi/Plymouth/West Bloomfield area (can't remember) as a child in the early 2000s. Things have changed. Still a great place to watch games and drink. They have guiness on draft so that's great. What's not great is waffle fries don't automatically come with your meal anymore and also you can see in the kitchen. I don't appreciate seeing my meal under a heat lamp waiting for the rest of tables meals to be done.

Never had a bad meal/ drink at this place. It is a casual atmosphere, yet has a touch of class to it as well. They have burgers, sandwiches, fish, pastas, and the list goes on. You will have no problem finding something to eat here no matter who you are. Huge bar with great specials. Thursday night is the night to go, although you will most likely have to wait to be seated if you go between 5-8 (I forget the exact special, but it's really good). Food portions are very generous and service has always been great. The only downside is they are usually very busy seating-wise (and the place is huge) but the service is somehow still very quick once you do get seated...plus if it's always busy, it's probably very good!

This is my first time visiting champs at happy hour. The happy hour is from 3pm-6pm. I wasn't too impressed with the drink specials. The happy hour appetizers were five dollars except for the big platter(I think) I got the Milehigh chicken nachos. I was not impressed. This is what I got on my plate, about four bags of chips, about six pieces of chicken, and some cheese here and there. We had to order some queso dip to go with all the chips. Not going back here for happy hour.

Ordered a dozen wings and if you come before 6 they're only $5, can't beat that! I ordered the chicken ranch wrap and I liked how the ranch was on the side so I could control how much I wanted, the garlic mashed potatoes were good too! My favorite part of this restaurant is the Mile High Ice Cream Pie, its so huge that you get some looks when it's presented but I couldn't put down my fork. (the crust is amazing!) The restaurant is a bit noisy but I guess that comes with the territory of a sports bar, we asked if they'd turn the music down and they didn't hesitate to do so!

Average-to-below-average sports bar. It'll serve for food and drink if you're in a pinch. Okay place to come and watch the game while eating meh-to-decent food at slightly high prices. Also to drink slightly expensive beer. Was here recently for a friend's birthday party and received truly awful service. Some fries took 25 minutes midway through; no consideration at all for the birthday girl. Our waitress was a bit rude to some our guests who arrived early as well when asking us to move. My and the lady's food was fine; her french dip was good and my pulled pork sammich received an 83% (not made with love; tasted like it came out of a bin that'd been sitting for quite a long time). This place feels as if it is striving for mediocrity. I won't be back. I don't really understand why people spend money at places like this - seek something better.

The food is good but overpriced. Not a huge fan of the environment. Not quite a sports bar but not quite a sit-down restaurant.

I've been to champps countless times over the years but after the dealing with their rude, condescending and finally insulting manager today, I will never be back. Dustin's attitude and accusations at my family were way over the top for any service employee not to mention restaurant manager. When he said "you people always try to scam us" I was done with him and champps as a whole. For the record we only trying to use the coupons they sent us. What kind of manager says good when a long time customer tells him they will never be back to his restaurant? The food is decent but overpriced, the service is mostly good but as long as Dustin works there I will not be back.

Typical sports bar. I've never had a bad experience here. I have a favorite dish here, if it weren't for that, I don't know that I would necessarily go back. But... I love the California wrap so much. Ha. I'll be back. :-)

This is a pretty typical sporty grill American food type place, but I like it more than similar places so I gave it an extra bump. The prices are a smidge on the high side but the portions are generous and the food is a little better than other similar places. They usually have a couple of good beers on draft (two Founders selections last time I was there) in addition to the usuals. Great for watching sports, good service every time I've been there, and always clean. I've never had to wait too long either, even at busy times. This place is not going to blow your mind but if you are thinking about going to Applebee's or something you should just drive the extra mile and come here instead. It's a solid "Where do you want to go?" "I don't know, where do you want to go?" choice.

We were traveling 127. Temps were in the single digits. We stopped for dinner here 'cuz we thought we could warm up better than at a Subway. The place is a large room with TVs all the way around. Hubby pointed out that it might have been better to use the kind of roof that doesn't require a post here and there, in front of a TV. But for the most part, you can see enough of them to keep track of at least five channels at once. The restrooms were very clean but incredibly chilly. The water at the faucet at least was not freezing, but I would have appreciated being able to thaw my fingers. So we're obviously freezing and ask for water with no ice, and some hot tea for me. The water came with ice. We got that corrected. My tea arrived with the hot water already poured over the tea bag. It was black tea with caffeine. (Just a note for those who try to avoid it as do I.) I was grateful for some hot liquid so I didn't try to find out of they had any other kind. I'm guessing they don't. We ordered a chicken fingers appetizer, cuz it would get out of the kitchen quickly. I didn't like the dough - heavy, and a bit too salty. But we received our required protein, so I was happy. We saw French onion soup on the menu. OK, we'll split one of those. It turns out that soups DO come in two sizes, even though it's not clear on the menu. We got the bowl. When it came, it was a nice large bowl of hot brown liquid that you'd expect. But thrown together quickly and missing a lot of flavor. The bread had not been toasted. It was soggy. The cheese was not caramelized from being under the broiler, it was just melted. So if you're a real French onion soup snob, don't order it here! But it was warm, and that's what we were after. Next the salmon arrived on a bed of steamed spinach and broccoli. We split that, too. Our waiter brought us a second plate. The fish had a hint of that crispy seared flavor from being cooked over fire. But only a hint. I think it was rushed a bit, though we do prefer our fish cooked as little as possible. At this point, we were too stuffed to contemplate dessert. We declined. Our waiter brought our check and then disappeared for several minutes. We didn't have any indication of whether we should take our check up ourselves or wait at our table. It was just the receipt, not inside one of those little restaurant books that hold your credit card. So we got up and looked for a register. Turns out you're supposed to wait, but we really needed to hit the road anyway. Hubby's chair had been very rickety, and we pointed that out to our waiter, so that maybe someone could do something about it. My chair had been just fine. Hubby said he would rate the place 2.5 stars. There are some small flaws that would be easily fixed. My vote tipped it toward a solid 2. It's not fine dining; it's a sports bar. Portions are large, but the food could be a lot better.

This was a great place. I had lunch on the patio and had a drink after work as well. For lunch I had the Ahi Tuna Tacos, which were amazing. The tuna was well seasoned. The fruit salsa was a perfect complement to the dish. The side dishes were also huge! I had the greek salad and it could have been it's own meal. The only thing keeping this place from one more star is that the drinks don't seem to be made from scratch and are typical of most bars. They do have a couple creative cocktails and a good selection of beer. Overall the combination of great food, good drinks and exceptional service makes this a great place and I intend to be a regular.

If you like going to a sports bar to watch a game-but listen to bad 80s music blaring- this is your kind of place. I understand going to a sports bar to watch a Blackhawks game in Redwing country/ college town is a tall order, but again...it's a sports bar. 20 minutes after asking we finally got the game on a few tvs, the small ones scattered around. The big screen were apparently reserved for the 2014 grand national tiddlywinks classic. Or maybe tennis. It didn't matter, we were the only people in the place watching tv anyway- the other 15 or 20 patrons were scamming, lost in a drink or a boring cheeseburger. Nothing special, I don't even imagine this place being fun during home games. One final note- there's something very dusturbing about a long, stainless steel bar. As a friend pointed out- it looks like the one you lay on before they but you in the box.

If you have a group of people and they all want to eat something different there will likely be something for everyone here as the menu is diverse. I have eaten here 10-12 times since they opened in 2004? or 2005? and have not had a bad experience. I also know what to expect in this restaurant choice - it's a sports bar. Food comes out in a timely manner, and everyone has always been friendly. The Greek salad is good - romain lettuce with lots of veggies/onion/feta cheese/tomatoes/red bell pepper/blk olives/cuc's and a sliced boiled egg on top w/bread on the side (very filling), the burgers are all good, also was told the gyro was delicious (and huge). Steaks are good, little pricey, but usually made the way you order it. The potatoe soup is excellent. If you are looking to celebrate something special, this is probably not a first choice (Dusty's would be better bet), but it is fine for a casual meal, catching a game/beer or for a group outing. I have done group events here as well as 2 Christmas parties and everyone was pleased with service, food and drink choices. In my opinion, they handle groups of people (8-20) better than many of their competitors. I recommend making reservations in advance for large groups. Occaisionally, if restaurant is full we have been able get seats at the bar. The tables in the bar area are not seat yourself, but the bar itself is. Once we had a 10 min wait for a table in the bar -no big deal as they were packed for an MSU game playing. They seem to consistently meet expectations in what they do within their market niche (no WOW here, but I don't come here for WOW) and this is no easy feat in restaurant business.

Champps used to be all about in house made from scratch, but that is no longer the case. It is sad that they are buying so much stuff in and pretending it is a in house product. The food is still good, but the prices are crazy. Fajita's are $16, sorry but that is to much for me. Happy hour after 10 pm used to be wonderful, but they have gotten rid of all the good stuff. Now it is just deep fried tenders and flat bread pizza's. I love flat bread pizza's but I have had them 5 times now and they are poorly thought out and poorly executed. I love the chicken quesadilla and their pasta dishes are wonderful. There burgers are frozen and over priced. Wish they would go back to what they started out being. Just not for me.

For the same price as you would spend at Bravos, two people can eat here, and the food is not only very mediocre, but of extremely poor quality. After eating at Champps, I had to make an emergency stop at the nearest gas station rest room. It wasn't pleasant. Overpriced, and judging by the haste in which my "problem" occurred (right when I got in my car), food has toxic additives. (And, I am not a person who normally experiences emergent, explosive diarrhea.) I would not eat at this place EVER again. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!!! I would rate this place at less than a "1" but Yelp won't let me.

I'm not going to do my typical review, mostly because this is a chain joint, but even more so because I'm feeling lazy. I've had fond memories of this place, believe it or not. For a while, they were doing karaoke out here, and a friend and I won $50 each (not bar bucks, straight cash) for performing. Most recently I was here with my fam partaking in their 1/2 price burgers (every monday). I would say this place is a step above a sports bar (like a BW3) in terms of food and cleanliness. I wouldnt' say this was a gastropub by any means, but some where in between. The menu reads like it were a bennigans or chillis- apps, entrees, salads, sandwiches and desserts. Nothing that really jumps out at you, but the food is pretty good for what it is. This place is decked out with tvs , playing all major sports channels, and premium sports channels, so if you're looking for a place to catch a game and a meal, while not being burdened by too much smoke, this might be your joint. I love Chammps. When I'm in the mood for a hamburger and fries or some delicious sandwiches I come here. You can't go wrong with Chammps as it's got such a variety on the menu and a fabulous drink selection. The decor inside is filled wall-to-wall with TVs broadcasting sports of all kinds. It's got a sports bar feel to it but don't worry if you don't like sports, they usually broadcast one or two nonathletic channels. This Champps is right up near the movie theatre, Wal-Mart, and a giant outdoor mall. You can stop in here before or after a movie or long day of shopping. You can stop on in for a drink at the bar after a movie. A chill place in a college town.

While the food at Champps is far from exceptional, their menu flexibility is. For a chain restaurant to provide a vegetarian burger option, and note their flexibility for substituting it for meat anywhere on the menu, is a rare find. I ordered a veggie burger and was happy to see that it was cooked perfectly. I've had experiences (*cough Pizza House cough*) where restaurants simply microwave the burgers for non-meat eaters. I found the burger to be a bit overpriced, but they were accommodating, so it's fine.

Champps is a step above the regular Lansing cuisine and offers and exceptional menu, almost too much, to the point where its sometimes difficult to know what to order. I've gotten a few of the dinner salads, the BBQ cheddar chicken and the soups, all of which were great!. The prices here are a bit steep for the area but not within reason, On busy days, it doesn't hurt to call and make reservations!

I love Champps. The food is excellent and the service is pretty good as well. The setting is a nice sports bar with tons of tvs and a really nice facility. Portions are huge. You could probably order one meal for two people. For what you get, the prices are pretty reasonable. If you go I would recommend the Chicken Parmesan or Fajitas. Go to Champps!

Hahahaha I have fond memories of the last time I was at Champps...Amanda the Scandal was still in town and we all went to karaoke - couldn't pass this one up, as it was prize karaoke - 1st place winner won $100. Amanda brought this guy from Ohio that no one knew, which was interesting. He was a random boy from Ohio, definitely a "God and Country" type, so we were wondering, what the hell he was doing with Amanda the Scandal. Anyway, we participate in the karaoke contest, and come to find out, Amanda pays off the judge at the bar! She offered the guy a cut if he threw the contest....guess who won the contest? All of a sudden there was a "mixup" of who won first prize. The judge took it back from the rightful winners and awarded Amanda the prize.....geez. All in all, the food is classic sports bar food and the drinks are a little on the pricey side, but it's perfect for taking the boys who are visiting from out of town somewhere to watch the game.
