We used to eat and drink here regularly several years ago. We have been there twice in the last 6 months. Both times we waited over 20 minutes for a waitress to talk to us at our table. The first time the waitress finally came over and told us we should go to the bar directly to get served. The second time we sat down and after 15 minutes I went to the bar and got our own drinks. After another 10 minutes of the two waitresses walking past our table I literally yelled out to one. She stated that she, "could be our waitress". We spoke with another couple who said they waited 25 minutes for service. Apparently the service has gone down hill dramatically. The drinks are decent and the food is pretty good. Unfortunately you have to serve yourself because the service is so bad.

Been a few times, was not happy with my last visit. Waited almost a half hour and had to flag down a waitress who then seemed annoyed that we wanted to place an order. We were short on time so we just ordered appetizers. The cook walked past us with our food and it sat on a table near the wait staff station for a good 10 minutes before we got our food.

Food is good. Service/preparedness is kind of lacking though. Didn't have ingriedients to their featured drink or tell us when we ordered so our drink was missing one of the main ingriedients...um

I was just there for Sunday and it was the worse service I have ever had. I usually give waiters/waitresses the benefit of the doubt but this was bull shit. People didn't know how to use the computers and had no sense of time. I used to love coming here and I will never come here again.

This is another bar in town aimed toward the college crowd. Enjoy the typical bar menu (burgers, pizzas, sandwiches) and the daily drink specials. I tried the American Classic burger was weekend and was very impressed. The Harvey Sticks are another hit. Like other college bars in the area, expect it to be crowded and noisy. (I'm beginning to sound like an old man). This bar has two levels and a balcony deck, giving you several options to try to escape the noise.

This place is an absolute nightmare on Monday nights. Waited 26 minutes for a beer!! WHAT?!! Awkward small joint with plenty of hippies any other day..

One of my favorite things to do in the Summer is to go to the upstairs deck at Harvey around lunch time and just hang out there for a few hours with friends and some beers. It is really a great deck (only downside is that the sun will vanish behind the buildings by around 4-5pm or so). Good drink specials, decent service, solid bar food. Live music on the weekends.

Friday, 5/1/15. Showed up as the State Theater crowd was leaving. The wait staff was beginning their shift so no one attended to our table until we went looking for help. Once we got our drinks we were over it. Ordered the Brunch burger. Wow was it good. Two grilled cheese sandwiches holding a burger and egg. Yum! One thing I like is the youthful crowd that comes here. What I hate is the dark interior. It's like your grandmother's closet. Would I go back? Probably.

Evening visit to Harveys after a day of tailgating and bar hopping for a night cap beer and some food. This place is deceivingly huge and expands to an upstairs area as well. The buffalo chicken wrap was one of the best I've had (and it wasn't just because I was drunk), it's served with handcut fries and the most delicious ranch dressing, ever. Their draft/craft beer specials were great for a Saturday night, 22oz. for only $5.

Harvey's, I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed... You have so much potential and you really do shine with your great location, unbeatable weekly specials, free comedy shows, and outdoor upper + lower patios. However, there are some significant areas of improvement that I hold you responsible for! I have come here and ordered 2 different beers on tap (my favorite beers in which I am extremely familiar with taste wise) and twice now, it has been an awful drinking experience. To there point where I was convinced I wasn't drinking the beer I ordered. The second time this happened (yesterday), all four people I was with ordered the same beer and we all had a hard time finishing it. Both beers tasted off, very off... I've come to the conclusion that you need to clean your tap lines, fairly certain this is the issue. Food; I've never ordered it here and it's mostly because I've heard multiple sources say that the food quality has greatly diminished and the portion size is lacking- many a times the cheese curds have been brought to attention. I don't usually review on something I've never tried, but under these circumstances I felt it was worth mentioning. So 2 stars for you, because I know you're better than this.

I loved this bar in college. I came back expecting the same awesome drinks and service. Not only did Harvey's charge me for a drink more than I had ordered, but they over charged me per drink. It was $3 wells on Thursday. I ordered 2 well whiskeys on the patio and one inside the bar, all from the same server (she was brand new). She brought me my bill and it was significantly higher than I expected it to be, with an extra drink charged and a higher charge per drink than anticipated. I mentioned to her that I had ordered only three well drinks and had expected a $9+tax tab (I was planning to close out and transfer to the bar), and she referred me to the manager. When I spoke to the manager, she was completely unapproachable. She told me that her server was sober and could count better than I could, and assumed that I couldn't pay my bill. When I explained that I could pay but was upset that I wasn't charged the well price, regardless of the number of drinks, she explained to me that well on the rocks is $1.50 more than well... which makes no sense. When I told her that I was expecting just a shot on ice and should have been notified of the price increase for choosing to not have a mixer upon ordering, she said I should've already known regardless. She then asked where I work so she could come insult me there. I will not be coming back to this bar. Ever.

Oh boy. If you're looking for McDonalds, I recommend you adjust your expectations. The friendly (not creepily so) bartender who took my to-go order offered me a soft drink while I waited (much appreciated) and chatted with me a little about what brought me downtown today when I mentioned I hadn't been into Harvey's in many years. Cozy interior, close quarters on a busy night but intimate and comfortable at lunch. Fries were crisp and tasty, handcut and well-seasoned. Italian sub was delicious--no condiments needed, ham and salami were crisped up on the grill before landing on the sandwich, cheese was melty and somehow the mid-November tomato was sweet and flavorful. Potato soup was delicious--rustic and filling. Going back, for sure.

This is one of my least favorite places to eat in downtown Kalamazoo, but I quite like going for a drink especially if the patio's open. I've eaten here a half dozen times because this seems to be the place where everyone wants to meet after work (well, this or Shakes). There's nothing exceptionally bad about the food (except the one time I ordered a burger medium and it came back mostly raw), but when there are so many good places to eat nearby, why would anyone want to eat here? The service is friendly but slow. The people watching around the bar inside is AMAZING. It's a great selection of tool-ish college boys, girls way too dressed up to be at this kind of place, and people in their 40s who act like they're in their 20s. When there's a band, there's absolutely no chance you'll be able to carry on a conversation inside.

Not sure whose running this place, but it appears that they dont know what theyve got. The deck is a great asset and this place used to be an awesome place to see live bands. Now its a rather pedestrian sports bar with not great TV sightlines and generic, uninspiring decor. The menu is bland and doesnt do you the favor of being cheap as an offset. This place could be great...get out of the cookie cutter sports bar biz, find some staff who develop a rapport with customers and who know the product (beer) and get back to being a spot for some entertainment.

Harverys Sadly is on the downswing.. Management recently made a very stupid decision to get rid of the live music here and turn it into a sports bar. Harveys was an awesome place to hang out and enjoy live music and one of few left in the Kalamazoo area.. They have a decent beer selection and decent food.. great staff as well.. however removing the stage and going to a no music having and sports bar enviroment is a horrible decision.

Food wasn't great, but its a lifesaver when you're at the hospital. I give it an extra star for that reason. :) The mozzarella sticks were good, the Harvey que burger was average, and the fries were terrible.

Sunday nights mean half-off dinners. That means I save 50% on a burger pressed between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Whoever thought of swapping each piece of bun for grilled cheese was a damn genius. Also, Magic Hat #9 on tap is wonderful.

I used to be a regular here, but Harvey's has gone downhill in the last couple of years. Service is hit or miss, the food has become substandard, even for bar fare, and - amazingly - the prices have gone up at the same time. For better food and better beer, walk a block north to the Tap House.

Food is average, but Harvey's is a decent place to get a drink. Domestic beer usually on special, but go when they're busy, tip very well, and drink liquor. Your dollar will stretch! :) It can get rather packed in here, so expect it to be very loud. The crowd is young: mostly college students so beware of popped-collars.

batman 3.0/4.0 beers Harvey's has a convenient location and the music emitting from the patio makes you a fan before even walking in the door. After I got over the initial discovery that this place wasn't packed full (the loud music is deceiving), I began to appreciate the atmosphere. A chill, younger crowd inhabits the upstairs patio that provides plenty of fresh air on warm Michigan evening. I could definitely be persuaded to spend a good majority of my night at Harvey's...3 beers. *captain ron 3.0/4.0 beers The view from the second story deck has been described as elegant by at least one patron (maybe it was effervescent - I don't really remember). Although I wouldn't totally disagree, I would have been inclined to use a much smaller word at that point in the evening. Indoors, space is tight; however, the close quarters seem to liven things up. Bands have been known to play at Harvey's from time to time, which is another feather in this bar's cap. The drinks are reasonable and there is no cover. Harvey's is laid-back, it's in a great spot, and it gets the job done. *qclown 3.0/4.0 beers Harvey's can be a great time. Loud, live music, decent drinks...patios! But it's not guaranteed. I vote for a name change. To me, Harvey is an uncle who pours Jim Beam into his Diet Coke at family reunion, even though there's a cooler of homebrewed beer. Call it something exciting like ... Ok bar food serving food late. Staff was good, the regulars were friendly and very affordable to drink here. Founders breakfast stout for 5 dollars? Are you kidding me, I felt like I was robbing them by purchasing it.

Had lunch here today, great atmosphere and very friendly service. Had the Harvey Dogs and was impressed. Best hot dog combo platter i've ever had. Also had good selection & value for beers. Definitely worth checking out.

I really love the atmosphere of the outdoor deck but I'd be lying if I said the food was awesome. The menu has common bar foods but overall the food just seems lackluster. I enjoy their brick oven pizzas but nothing else seems all that special. I've usually had good service, so at least it's got that. Overall, Harvey's is a great hangout and a good place to have a few drinks with friends, but it just isn't a place I'd go for a great meal.

Great place to hang out. Really laid back people and friendly bartenders. Cool people, great food, great drink specials and cocktails. Big deck upstairs, and smaller one downstairs. Smoking's allowed after 2 pm, if you mind.
