We had a wonderful valentines lunch here today. The house made soups and gnocchi were amazing. We all devoured the tiramisu and molten chocolate nutella cake for dessert. The owner is a delight. We also enjoyed the artwork by the extremely talented Ann Marie Batiste, a local artist from Hurley, and purchased a beautiful painting from her. We are up here for the weekend from Madison, and may just return for dinner tomorrow night!

Overall my family had a pretty bad experience. We got the bruschetta for an appetizer and waited at least 25 minutes to find that it was a cold tomato sauce with chunks of cheese to spread on bread. We were also not brought enough plates for all of us and had to ask the waiter for another one as he came back from the kitchen without it. I had the caprese pizza and it was the most tasteless thing I have ever had and was ridiculously over priced. Needless to say we will not be back.

This place is a real gem! To be honest, I had low expectations of an Italian restaurant in Ironwood. To say the least, I was quite pleasantly surprised. The food is wonderful, with great touches like homemade cookies, and the conversation is warm and amicable. The place doubles as an art gallery, so the ambiance is also nice. I highly recommend Buon Appetito.

Fresh, organic food with excellent service and atmosphere. I tried the cranberry almond salad with fresh mozzarella and homemade raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Dessert is a must!

The fact is that the food here continues to improve. Service is great and now with local artists displaying their work on the walls the atmosphere is much better. Order the antipasto, the pizza or the gnocchi and you'll feel as if your in NYC or Detroit at an upscale old world Italian restaurant. Tiziana is a true artisan and crafts the most delightful dishes in the area, and finally people are beginning to notice. Fresh, organic and tasty. Buon Appetito will be here for a while.

Authentic Italian cuisine made with locally sourced organic ingredients by an Italy-born chef using skills that she spent over 20 years learning. Vegetarian options for many dishes are available upon request. This restaurant would be a gem in any city. Nothing within many hours drive of Bessemer can compare! This place is all about the food. I nearly walked out when I saw the spartan dining area. The server obviously is new to that career. These things will not matter at all after your first taste. We bought four (4) dinners and added deserts because we didn't want to leave and, after speaking with the chef, knew they would be excellent. My son's cake was even made and baked after he ordered it. I was in Italy in September and October and ate meals at farm-to-table restaurants Northern Italy as well as in Venice. The food quality here is comparable!

After doing a quick search for a bite to eat in the UP, Trip Advisor recommended Buon Appetito. It was right. We were so impressed with the philosophy of the place: organic, fresh, local, and authentic. The owner served us, answered our many questions, and we were fans before we had a bite. We ordered the gnocchi with red sauce and the mushroom risotto. The gnocchi was great, we don't eat that ever so we don't have much to compare it to. As far as risotto, we use this as a litmus test for restaurants, and it was quality. We wanted to save some but could not. The only improvements could have been a garnish of parsley or something on both entrees. Still awesome. Both entrees came with a delicious, healthy, mixed salad that could have been served on a plate rather than in a tiny wooden bowl, but we managed to eat it without spilling on us causing an oil spill from the tasty house lemon vinaigrette. The latte was New York/Paris quality and the tiramisu was great as well. If you want quality food that is supporting local places and presenting it in interesting an fashion, check her out.

It's about time old world style Italian food came to Ironwood. This places also uses tons of organic and imported ingredients. The food is all made from scratch and tastes incredibly fresh! The gnocchi was great, just like my grandma's, rustic. The pizza is fresh and the crust is reminiscent of New York's finest thin crust. The owner spares no expense on ingredients. It's the real deal. Try it. Vegan and vegetarian options!

This place is a find. The pizza is great. The lasagna wonderful. My wife had the salad with chicken. My brother-in-law had a salmon salad. Sister-in-law and niece the gnocchi. All the food very good with fresh quality ingredients. Dessert was home made gelato. All reasonably priced. The owner is a nice lady from Italy; she is the chef, too.

This was an amazing restaurant with a warm friendly and super chef/owner. Everything we ate was freshly prepared and incredibly delicious. We had lasagna, bruschetta, shrimp and scallop soup, molten lava chocolate cake and tiramisu. This is a must go to place. The charm was enhanced by the fact that the local artist was painting in the window at the time.

This was surprise in northern Michigan. Salad fresh and tasty with a lemon/olive oil/ salt dressing which is a fave of ours. Our gnocchi were very good, bread excellent, but no liquor license so bring your own Pinot or Valpolicella to linger over. You won't want to leave. Menu is uncomplicated but offers great choices and the service was attentive, accommodating and pleasant. A great value, too!

Food is so delicious. I have not had a bad meal at this Italian restaurant. The owner of the restaurant is from Italy. She will come out and discuss your meal and have a brief conversation with you. this Italian restaurant is tucked away in downtown Ironwood,Michigan. Local artist work is presented and is for sale . The artist is sometimes there sitting in the window doing her art work.

Our visit was almost comical. The food was bad, the service ridiculous. We began by ordering bruschetta. We waited at least 25 minutes for this to come. And, no they weren't busy- there was only one other table in the place that was occupied. We started joking that they must be picking the tomatoes. But the joke was on us- when the bruschetta arrived, there were no tomatoes. Their idea of bruschetta was some cold, bland. tomato sauce with some small chunks of cheese in it on top of stale garlic toast. The waiter needed to be asked for place settings- which can happen. But when he brought the bruschetta, he brought with him 2 plates for our party of 3. I had to ask for another plate. Also, while we were waiting for the bruschetta, I asked if they had bread. The waiter blankly answered "yes" , with no indication of getting any. I finally had to ask him, "well, can we have some?" The menu is also extremely limited. I ordered a grilled chicken salad, which was marginally OK, and the other two decided to split a pizza caprese. I was expecting tomato slices on it, but after the tomatoless bruschetta, had no idea what it would be. It turns out this pizza had no sauce, which is OK- but it also had no flavor. It could not have been more bland. I don't understand the good reviews, unless we caught it on a particularly bad night.

Amazing food, waited a while for the food, but it's made from scratch so well worth the wait

The food here is excellent! We eat out a lot in Chicago and this restaurant ranks up there with the best of them in food quality. The art on the wall makes for a pleasant atmosphere.

Oh my gosh - this was the best dinner I've had in a LONG time. Coffee aficionados must try the macchiato. Everything homemade, and not a single bite that wasn't delicious. I had the lasagna, and hubby had the gnocchi with pesto sauce, and both were fantastic. Highly recommended!

My husband and I traveled to Ironwood for the weekend and found Buon Appetito with the help of Yelp. Thank goodness we stumbled upon this little gem! Our food was outstanding -- we shared an order of bruschetta (the tomato and mozzarella relish is served warm with garlic toasts - delish) to start, and I had the homemade gnocchi (like little pillows!) with a creamy pesto sauce and my husband had a small carpaccio pizza (super-thin, crispy crust and tasty toppings). We shared a tiramisu (again, made from scratch, and amazing) and each had an espresso for dessert. Long story short, the meal was unexpectedly amazing (local and organic, to boot!), and we will definitely be back the next time we are in the area -- this time with a bottle of wine in tow, as we didn't realize it was BYOB (with a small corkage fee) until after our arrival.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
