Back in allegan so back to rock island. Took a chance and didn't order our favorite roast beef. I ordered the ham dinner and hubby had the meatloaf. We both had the beef barley soup as one of our sides. Great choice the soup had lots of beef and was delicious. The ham dinner is now a favorite. It will vetoing on future visits to decide between the roast beef and the ham. Great home made mashed potatoes and gravy. Hubby had the blackberry cobbler and thought it was the best dessert he has had here so far and he has tried several. You can't go wrong eating here, whether it is breakfast lunch or dinner.

We were on the road, and needed to find a place for dinner. We wanted an alternative to typical chain restaurant food. While this place didn't look like much from the outside, it was very warm and welcoming inside. We ordered the meatloaf, fried walleye, and Hawaiian pizza. It took time, but was worth the wait. All was delicious, very homemade-tasting. My daughter, who's nearly 12, thought it was one of the best pizzas she ever had. We finished with blackberry cobbler...yum. Better than some desserts we had at our resort town destination.

As an over-the-road truck driver, I have the opportunity to eat at many different "Mom and Pop" establishments. I can write that this little place, tucked away in Holland, MI is one of the VERY BEST! Situated next door to the Tulip Truck Stop, this little place opens at 6:00 AM and closes at 10:00 PM, EXCEPT on Sunday.... where they close at 2:00 PM, instead. I had their Chopped Steak and Eggs, with "American Fries" and Rye Toast. The chopped steak was perfectly cooked to my liking and arrived to my table hot, to the extent that when I sliced it, hot steam came from within. It was a beautiful thing. Eggs done over-medium were PERFECT. "American Fries" are sliced potatoes, fried and delicious. Rye toast..... superb. And, to top it off - large Apple Juice. This bad boy wasn't some sissy large, this thing was HUGE. Almost like a big beer stein. Would recommend this great place to anyone, especially to all of my fellow trucking buddies out there.

I really wanted to like my meal because of all the good reviews. But, someone put waaay too much salt in the pot roast. I was so disappointed. I gave my husband a couple huge forkfuls as the portion was so big. He liked it so perhaps it's seasoned for people who smoke and have a diminished taste capacity. I will not encourage a repeat visit. Sorry. :(

This restaurant is right next door to the Tulip City Truck stop. We were in Holland to make a delivery and went here for dinner. Everything we had was very good. The waitress that served us was friendly and made sure our drinks were full and our food order was correct. We would stop here again if we are ever in Holland.

Great family place on the way up to Boyne. I recommend the pot roast sandwich. Ask for it on the homemade wheat bread. Really really good. Apple dumplings for dessert.

Fish Fry was excellent! Order the tossed salad it was one of the best salads I have had from a diner/restaurant. Fries were good. Green beans were so so. Apple dumpling is a must if they have it, also ask for it warm!

The meal was surprisingly good. I had the beef burrito with chips and salsa. The burrito was larger than you get I'm most Mexican restaurants. They were not busy at all. The waitress was very attentive and courteous. It was very quiet and I was able to concentrate reading my book. The prices were very reasonable. I normally eat at truck stops, this was a nice change.

This is a Mom-n-Pop family style restaurant, located right next door to the Tulip City Truck Stop. They offer a full menu, with daily specials. I had the Turkey dinner for 7 bucks. My meal arrived in under 5 minutes! Great meal, everything was tasty and delicious. I arrived a little before 8pm. There was a table of women all enjoying an evening meal nearby. A few other tables had friends and family, as well as a couple truckers here and there.
