Stopped here for lunch on a Saturday. The menu is good as are the prices, as sushi restaurants go. The service was excellent. I'm a bit of a sushi snob - the Nigiri was outstanding - fresh, VERY generous slices of fish. My wife had the Bibimbap which she said was great. My son loved the Bento box. Highly recommended.

nice dinning environment, good service. Delicious sushi. But the hot pot didn't light me up. So, 4 stars.

Good food but the service was poor. Place wasn't very busy or understaffed but we had to ask for them to clear the appetizer plates.

Great new sushi place in holland. Very nice decor and atmosphere. Good selection of fresh sushi and other non sushi items. No alcohol yet but plans to have a large selection of Sake in the future. The Diablo roll with some seaweed salad was perfect.

It's fantastic. It's SHOCKINGLY fantastic - given that this is Holland, lol. Have had a bunch of different stuff on repeated visits. The bento box lunches are exceptional. Only complaint? The quality of beef they use for beef based dishes is not good - a very poor cut that yields that dreaded liver taste each time. But, if you avoid anything with beef, you are in for a serious treat.

Wow. All I gotta say its probably the most calm you will have eating in a while as the whole staff is friendly dont go here if you are impatient as the food is art here and not made poorly. Things you gotta know are premium roll or basic roll most people who come here love the premiums but coming from a person whose favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla I like the basic. When you first come here its an experiment you gotta figure out what you like so take a person who has already been here. As I said earlier food is art here and expenisve art. I cant explain the food as every roll seems different from each other. Mizu is a place that really will make your day better if you do like sushi of course as the atmoshpere and decour is calm and peaceful as so is the food. 5/5 Pros: Staff Food Atmoshpere Very clean Cons: Dont go if impatient No alchohol license yet

I really enjoy the food here, everything is fresh and delicious. The service has always been excellent. My favorite roll is the Diablo roll, which is a little spicy but that's how I like it. The Iceland volcano roll is great as well, the sweet potato crunch is the icing on the cake. The ambiance is very welcoming. Also they have takeout!

I ate here often being that I live close. This last time I called in an order for take out. Paid with exact change plus an extra dollar. I usually tip more than a dollar on take out but I was a little short on cash and felt a dollar was fine for the server just handing me a bag. While waiting my food, the server sarcastically said to me "Ooooo yay! A dollar tip" she then continued to walk up to me with the dollar and wave it in my face "are you SUUURE you don't want it back?" I'm currently a bartender and have had tip based jobs for years. NEVER have a made someone feel bad for tipping me (or not tipping me), especially on take out! In my experience, 1 out of 5 people will tip on take out.. I don't eat here much anymore because of this. When I do, I still tip the servers. (except the one)

Two visits and the experience has only gotten better. Mind-blowing sushi rolls. We had the diablo and the volcano roll and they were prepared to perfection. The service was top notch, especially our server Morgan, who remembered us from our last visit, which was a good 4 months back. It felt nice to be greeted like that. Also, when we mentioned that we were celebrating my dad's birthday, he very graciously arranged a dessert that was not available on the menu, keeping in mind that my mom is a vegetarian. That was a very thoughtful gesture and one that totally won us over. Thank you Morgan and Mizu sushi, for the great time we had. I will most definitely be back.

Just the right portion size for the money. Food was great and so was the atmosphere. Good place to grab lunch on the go or dine in. Unfortunately at this time, it is the only two places in Holland you can get Japanese food. Not including the local Chinese buffet, I would not really count that as sushi. But they are cheap, though you get what you pay for. Also, in terms of "cleanliness", it beats the other Japanese establishment by a mile. For those who do not want to drive all the way out to Grand Rapids for Japanese food and even hate to do so during snowy winters and bad roads. This place is very comparable to what you find in Grand Rapids. And I know there are a lot of sushi lovers in Holland / Zeeland area. So this is extremely convenient. I hope Mizu Sushi keeps their menu price as is and serving size the same, as they continue business. Customers do notice slight change in price, portion size and most importantly the quality in the food. If this changes, it could really turn off a lot people. Some sushi places in GR made me feel ripped off. Remember, sushi dinner is usually more expensive than a steak dinner and it has to be worth the trade off. I've been to Tokyo twice and the food there is absolutely amazing and cheaper due to competition, but here in the states. Japanese food is considered specialty and that does add to the cost. But for Holland area sushi. I will be back at Mizu soon.

Sushi was great and top notch quality. I like the interior decor. I would definitely return and hope this place sticks around. I have few things to nit pick but none of these bothered me enough to take away any stars. It took quite a long time from when we ordered to get our food. It was a Tuesday night when it was less than half full. Also the music playing was pretty much elevator music. Regardless of my complaints I still recommend it.

Great place, good food. If you are looking for a sushi place in holland than I would say eat here. If you like spicy sushi then get the Diablo Roll. I also had the Combination roll and that wasn't so great. Food: 8/10 Service: 9/10 Cleanliness 9.5/10 Price: $$

It was my first time dining in for lunch and I enjoyed it. It wasn't very busy or anything like that. It was pretty quite. The waitresses were very professional. The sushi that they had were decent not too bad or anything.

The nigiri rolls are delicious, the California rolls were different from what we expected. My daughter didn't care for it but I thought it was ok . The soba noodles edamame and the tempura were all excellent. The service was fast and adequate. We will definitely come here again though. The one complaint was the music playing was late 90s Rock and it seemed to clash with the beautiful decor and restful presence in the restaurant.

This place is great! The food is amazing and fresh! The people there are wonderful people and provide great service. I know it gets busy on Friday and Saturdays so waiting sucks, but it is worth it!

Great experience! Clean, low key atmosphere. Tasteful decor. Wait staff is perfection. Timing was excellent (not hovery or absent). The sushi rolls were rolled tight enough to not fall apart while being consumed. My pet peeve is barely grasping one and having it fall apart before I can get it to my usually gaping maw. The Alaska roll was superb. The salmon on top was nearly buttery in texture. Beautiful!! If I ever make it back this way, I would def come back here

My husband and I had high hopes for this place based upon the reviews, but the experience just kind of fell flat. They were understaffed for a Friday night and our poor server was running around like a mad man, so we don't blame him at all for the experience. The tuna nigiri just didn't taste quite...right...and the rolls left a lot to be desired. We love us some sushi and it really doesn't take much to please us, but we both left Mizu and just said "bleh". Hopefully just an off night for them and we'll probably try again next time we're in town!

Great experience! This is a clean and fairly low key sushi restaurant in the heart of downtown Holland, MI. Living in CA, I have become accustomed to great sushi on almost every corner. Here I find myself in the Midwest and find this diamond in the rough. The food here is fresh and delicious. GREAT selection of rolls, sashimi and nigiri all at fair prices as well. I was pleasantly surprised and hope to visit again on business or even pleasure.

I've been to Mizu twice now and both times I was extremely pleased with my experience. I've only had a few appetizers and five different sushi rolls, but I'm definitely looking forward to trying more items soon. So far, my favorite items are the Diablo Roll and the Asparagus Beef Roll. There are quite a few options on the menu and all of the fish seems to be fresh and of a high quality. The inside of the restaurant is very clean and contemporary and there is the option to sit outside when the weather is nice. The atmosphere is nothing special, but the service is good and the food will keep me coming back. Food: 9.5/10 Service: 8/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Value: 8/10 The bottom line: Fantastic, authentic Japanese food.

Based on yelp review we ordered the Diablo, yes a bit spicy, but savory and succulent. Delicious. I usually don't order seafood on Monday due to the legend that seafood on Mondays are from Friday deliveries (probably why many restaurants are closed Mondays). I was assured their seafood delivery arrived fresh today. Mizo Sushi will be my go-to sushi from my home away! Marriott Court Yard will be opening next door in the fall.

Visited this restaurant during the tulip festival. Was pretty surprised at the decor of the restaurant. Really nice and chill vibes. Our waiter took some time in seeing us and taking our drink orders, even with the restaurant being rather empty. Food was GREAT! By far the best orange chicken I've ever had. Sushi was very tasty as well. Good rice/veggie ratio. If I'm ever in town again, I'd love to come back.

Mizu Sushi was the first sushi spot I came to once I moved out here to MI. With (what I like to consider a well-versed) experience in sushi I wasn't expecting too much. I ordered a Philly Roll and a couple of other cooked ones and my boyfriend had the udon. Quality was great and the bill matched accordingly. The establishment was well kept (I was digging the interior design), but I remember reading a comment on here about the music. My first visit was like a #tbt to my Michelle Branch/Avril days. Second time they were playing instrumental stuff, eh, nothing to really penalize the resturant for but thought it's worth mentioning. The reason why I'm giving it a 4/5 stars though is strictly from the customer service. I really wish I remember the name of the waiter we had the first time, but that ginger beauty was like the ideal server. Granted it was closing and my boyfriend and I were the only ones really in the resturant, but it was nice getting taken care of. She had a good sense of timing and wasn't overbearing. Second visit the quality of the food was still good, but we didn't get the same kind of service. There was nothing wrong with the waiter, but after having to explain what an arnold palmer and ponzu sauce was thought there could've been room for improvement... I'm sure I'll redo this review once I visit other sushi places in the Ottawa region, but if you need your sushi fix keep this place as an option.

Loved it! We went last night for dinner, and tonight for dinner again. Between the two days, I had the Spicy Salmon rolls, Gyoza soup (I think that's the name?) and a piece of smoked salmon over rice and wasabi. It's really reasonably priced - especially for quality sushi - and the service is great. The only reason I'm giving it four and not five is because our food was not delivered all at the same time. One person would get their food, a few minutes later another person, and so on, until the table was served. (We were groups of three and four - not unreasonable.) All in all, it was so nice, we had to go twice. If I ever find myself in Holland again, I'll definitely be going back!

Not too bad. The Sashimi was pretty good...but when we got a couple of rolls, they fell apart.

Omg. This place has fantastic food. Best sushi I've had outside of Japan. And comparable to a "nice" sushi restaurant in Japan. The rolls are huge, we ordered 5 plus gyoza and seaweed salads for each of us and we had 3 pieces left. Absolutely stuffed and happy. First time having a sushi roll that was served warm. One was dipped in tempura and fried. The monster roll was draped in melty cheese. Soooooo delicious!!!

Trendy simple interior. Very clean. Lots of tables so we did not have to wait. Kids ordered Beef Udon which was very good, however, they ordered without vegetables and the order came out with veggies. The Diablo roll was great, the fried softshell crab was fantastic, the gyoza soup was awesome. Service was fine but not the fastest we have encountered. I saw some Korean dishes on the menu including BimBimBob which we plan to go back and try. I will also be back to try some of the other items on the appetizer list like fried Gyoza and Agedashi Tofu! Yum!

I've been here twice now. The sushi is by FAR the best in town. Love it. The ingredients are a good quality and there is a diverse sushi selection. However, the place is still new and waiting an hour at our table for food is pretty frustrating. The outdoor seating is nice and so is the inside, so this place certainly has potential...but they have kinks to work out for sure.

Went here for the first time tonight and I must say finally a decent Sushi restaurant in Holland! Really good for anywhere, and I am a Sushi snob, furthermore at a fair price. The Saba was excellent and that is rare. All my Nigiri was excellent, Uni was fresh and tasted like that bite of ocean that Uni is. Really happy to see the culinary scene in Holland improving, being from the NYC area it damn near makes me weep with joy.

This place won't last long. Poor service, waited 15 minutes in the door, nobody even asked to take our name for the wait list. I don't care how good the food is. Drive to GR and have a real sushi experience at Maru Sushi and Grill. Better atmosphere and much better service.

They serve excellent sushi (especially the eel), very well decorated place and beautifully organized menu. The sushi platters are very rich, you will enjoy the taste of this authentic sushi. I am really picky in terms of sushi but this one really met my standards. I loved the place and most likely will visit the place over again. Gotta try it

Mizu Sushi has a lot going for it. The interior is terrific - elegant, minimalist, very attractive. The sushi is always fresh and clean, and the presentation on the plates is elegant as well. It is a big treat to go there, but to say it is the best sushi in Western Michigan is a little silly, given the lack of competition. I didn't give it 5 stars because the rice is never packed particularly well - it often falls apart, and the wasabi is very, very mild. I understand that not everyone appreciates wasabi that takes your breath away, but that should be an option because that is the way wasabi is prepared in most places in Japan and around the world. Finally, the servers need a little more education about what they are serving. Having said all of that, I highly recommend the place for an aesthetic, unique and terrific dining experience.

We were visiting Holland and decided to sit outside and have some sushi. The hostess was very friendly and we were seated right away. We tried two different sushi selections: a spider roll and a spicy concoction. Both were delicious. Service was pleasant and efficient. We would definitely return when visiting the area again. This restaurant has only been open for a week and I hope they continue to do well.

Excellent in every way! So excited that finally there is some food diversity in downtown Holland. During lunch, go for the bentos, great value for a lot of variety. If you want a unique experience during dinner, try their Shabu Shabu. It's a pot of broth boiling at your table over a burner where you cook veggies, thin slices of beef, and noodles and eat with two kinds of dipping sauce. It's for two or more people though, and made a great meal for three adults and a child along with some rolls.

We stopped in because our nine year old had been asking for sushi and got a few things to take home- 3 pieces of sushi, a caterpillar roll and a a roll they made to order for our daughter. The food was all very fresh and they very kindly accommodated her request to substitute ingredients. We'll certainly go back- add good location and good prices for reasons to return again.
