This is the best a B&B gets, and my husband and I will most definitely be back in the very near future!
This was my first stay at a B&B and wasn't sure what to expect. I was nervous about having to socialize with the hosts and was concerned about the community sharing. Now, I wish I would have tried a B&B years ago!! I went with a friend and stayed in The Gallery room. We each had our own bed which were SOOOOO comfortable!! Each morning, we were greeted with a lovely plated breakfast. Day 1 we had a frittata with spinach, roasted red peppers and goat cheese. Day 2 was buckwheat pancakes with roasted peaches and Michigan Syrup. Both were DELICIOUS! Each evening from 6-7pm, she hosted a happy hour with appetizers and a glass of wine. Each night was lovely and her boyfriend even played piano for us. Nancy, the hostess, was such a nice and lovely women and we loved talking with her. The house itself was quite large. My friend and I spent a lot of time on the large screened in patio where we listened to music, sipped wine and worked on a puzzle. I was surprised how much we hung out at the house but it was so relaxing, we didn't need to go out. What a lovely experience, I will definitely be going back!!!!
We stayed here a few weeks ago to get away from Chicago for a night. I was worth every penny. From the wine and apps in the evening to the great breakfast in the morning, Nancy served us well and was great to chat with. She even suggested a great bbq stand around the corner at the garden store.... Which was stupid good by the way. It's the little things that mean a lot. Thanks Nancy!

Delicious, delicious, delicious!!! EVERYTHING is to die for! We have been coming here for years and will continue to do so until my heart gives out.
My favorite place on vacation!! We go here every single year, almost every day that it is open. Incredible donuts and pastries, and they have an incredible cafe right next door that is amazing. Best Swedish pancakes I have ever had!
my Swedish Grandma would give this bakery 5 stars...and so will I. I haven't had such wonderful Swedish treats since my Grandma and mom stopped baking Swedish treats( to meet their maker in the sky! ) I LOVE this place, and plan my Michigan trips around their hours.

Oh, Cafe Gulistan, I'm still so curious how you came to Harbor Country, which doesn't exactly scream Haven of Incredible Turkish and Middle Eastern Food. My father, who lives in the area, has enjoyed your delicious presence for many, many years now and I'm so glad I've finally had the pleasure of dining there, too. It's hard to choose at a place like this. I've been to many Middle Eastern places and gorged myself on appetizer combo platters of hummus, babaghanoush and falafel, so this time, my husband and I decided to just stick with babaghanoush. It was a good choice, as the serving was large and in charge--garlicky good with a nice smoky undertone from the roasted eggplants. I was disappointed that the pitas were just regular ol' pita pockets instead of freshly-made ones, but the babaghanoush saved the day. We also had a grilled Tiger shrimp dish served with sesame seeds and an apricot sauce--perfectly cooked shrimp and lovely flavor profiles. My entree just about made me lose my mind, it was so freaking delicious. I ordered the Ispanak (without mushrooms) - falafel with sauteed spinach, onions and peppers in a garlic-mango-walnut cream sauce. Shut. The. Front. Door. Amaaaaazing. The sauce was absolutely dreamy with a luxurious texture and incredible flavor. I was full after the first falafel, but soldiered on just to get another glorious taste. Holy cow. That was fantastic. So much so that I suggested we get it the next day for dinner again (we didn't; we were heading out of town--BOO). My husband had a lamb dish he really enjoyed, but even he had to pause and say "wow" when he tried a bite of my dish. I had to try the baklava, of course, and it did not disappoint. Flaky, sweet, crisp--quite tasty and a nice treat. I would've taken another serving of the Ispanak, though. :) I don't get to visit the area nearly enough anymore now that we've moved to St. Louis, but trust that I will be on Cafe Gulistan's doorstep the next time we visit my dad. Have the Ispanak ready, Gulistan.
Had a great experience there. The falafel starter was not bad. We had 2 lamb dishes, one of which was the rack of lamb and they were delicious! Also had Lebanese red wine. Who would have thought the Lebanese made delicious wine!
I had the chicken dish, and the flavors were really good. The rice was quite tasty as well. The hummus had a distinct Turkish twist to it, this isn't your standard Lebanese hummus. The only down-side is that this place is quite expensive. Overall, 4-star food, but loses a star for higher prices.

Best breakfast in Harbor County, quick service, and a good location. They try to make as much organic, local ingredients as possible. Everything is fresh and delicious - it shows! I had the fresh, homemade Luisa's granola with greek yogurt and fresh local blueberries. Try this at home, kids. It's amazing. It is even better at Luisa's. Freshly squeezed orange juice, and some eggs. And a homemade latte. Heaven. Attentive service and wonderful baked goods - so my husband says!
What a God awful experience! They said we would be seated in 25 minutes. It was actually an hour. We got crammed into a sardine can of an area where you were inches from the diners at the next table. It was hot and the air was stagnant. The service was terrible and it took over 35 minutes to get our simple breakfast order. The food was weak. Definitely not worth it. DRIVE RIGHT BY, unless you ate getting stuff from the connected bakery.
I'm a local, sorta. And I was planning to go to breakfast on my day off and checked out some Yelp reviews. I knew about this place, but when it's summer, you know to stay far, far away as the Chicagoans are all over this place like flies on you you know what... So it was a Friday in off season, first sub 32 degree day. I walked into this very cute cafe with an attached bakery. Oh the bakery... I had to resist that... everything looked wonderful. The enclosed porch had sun beaming in and I was the first one there and so I sat out there. Every table had different cloth napkins that were super cute. The menu was nothing extraordinary and they had special pumpkin and pecan pancakes that day. I went with the Huevas Rancheros. Of course here comes a family from Chicago with friends and all their kids in tow. Shouldn't they be in school? Well the kids wanted to sit on the porch, so I said why don't you all sit out here and I'll go inside... no, no, no, we'll sit out here and the kids can sit next you and drive you crazy by tapping on the window, laughing and making noise. Ah, harbor country... Food came out super quick. It was just okay... I wouldn't even say that.. it was actually just plain boring. It really need some flavor. It was simply eggs on corn tortillas with salsa and a side of beans. The avocado on the side was not ripe, but I know they can't control that, but then just don't serve it. I know that is what huevas racheros basically is, but I guess every other restaurant dressed it up a bit more with cheese, or a tasty salsa/sauce. Oh well. The service was fine and the food was hot so it gets 4 stars!

Go here if you're looking for basic, decent, cost efficient pizza. We phoned in a cheese and cheese + sausage pizza and within 15 minutes we had pizza and garlic bread with cheese. All of the pizza was disappeared by midnight.
So here is a little secret. Order the "white pizza" where they use alfredo sauce on the pizza instead of the tomato based. IT IS THE BEST PIZZA IN THE WORLD I LOVE IT!!! It is always a hit when ever I take it anywhere. Every time I am in town I order it. This pizza isnt on the menu but it is fantastic with thick crust!
For local pizza, you can't go wrong. We've been getting their carry out pizza for years and it is always consistent. It is a basic pizza, fresh and yummy. This is a solid business that has been around for years and will continue to be there. Service inside the restaurant is pretty good most of the time. Pastas are okay, there is better in the area. Salads are decent. Nothing here knocks your socks off, but it is always good and fresh. Though it is in the heart of a really touristy area, it hasn't fully succumbed to catering to the tourists. The locals like it just fine.
