I write this with a bit of hesitation, as it's almost like telling a secret that maybe should be kept a secret...plus I don't want the lines to be too long when I do make it back to Michigan during the summers...but here goes nothing. Miss Lisa's is sort of like taking a trip back in time to a simpler era. It's the friendly service, the hand-mixed flurries, the perfectly sculpted peak of a soft serve cone, and the flashback prices (which they actually add up right in front of you on paper instead of at a register or calculator)! Back when I was little and Miss Lisa's opened for the season, it was a sign that summer was right around the corner; and I'm sure that not much has changed. This is everything that an ice cream stand should be! Miss Lisa's is a small business that has been thriving for longer than I have, and I definitely blame this place for my chubby childhood/young adulthood. Sure, their ice cream isn't spun on site like Temptations downtown, but they have Hudsonville brand, and everything is clearly made with love. The soft serve is what calls to me anyhow, with their rotating soft serve of the week: Georgia Peach, Creme de Menthe, Lemon Custard, Strawberry, Black Cherry? Okay...I don't live in Ferrysburg anymore, but I know that the first four are correct. And they always have the traditional chocolate, vanilla, and vanilla/choco twisty. Do you want it hand-dipped in a vat of chocolate or cherry coating? Yep, they can do that too. Their banana splits are perfectly crafted and great for sharing, and the Hot Fudge Banana is a good alternative for the singles. Of course they have all the regular sundaes like hot fudge and chocolate syrup, butterscotch, caramel, strawberry and pineapple, but they also have things like the candy buster (like an unmixed flurry) and the peanut butter buster (like peanut parfait). I remember loving the glacier (I think it was called), which was soft serve ice cream covered in slushy. Back in the day they even used to have strawberry shortcake things made with donuts...but I can't confirm this is still happening. They also serve lunch-type food on the cheap like chili dogs and BBQ sandwiches, with milkshakes to wash everything down. Some final details about Miss Lisa's include the fact that you can tell all of their machines are cleaned frequently, because everything tastes so good. There is a small area with playground equipment for kids, and there is a large swing for families, friends or lovers to enjoy as well. They have plenty of picnic table space and parking never seems to really be a problem (I remember sometimes we would have to park in the bank lot across the street). I rarely eat dairy products, as they normally don't treat me too well internally, but Miss Lisa's for me is worth the pain for several minutes of pure nostalgic glee. So especially for those of you who can safely dabble in the dairy side of life to no ill effect, you must travel over the bridge from Grand Haven into Ferrysburg - it's one of the first things you'll see - and you must get ice cream NOW. Four stars, like for real.
Best ice cream a scoop could scoop. Whatever you buy, I guarantee your satisfaction. Cheap and a post-anything tradition for everybody. Just won the baseball game? Miss Lisa's. Just lost? Miss Lisa's. Opening night? Curtain call, then Miss Lisa's. No worry about taking the little kids and having to deal with impatient squirliness. Small swing set. Problem solved. Who knows? You might even meet Miss Lisa if you come at the right tome ;)
Fantastic little ice cream place. You can tell the owners put their heart and soul into this place. Great ice cream. Cozy little spot to sit and eat it. They even have a big play castle for the kids. Definitely the place to go if you're craving something sweet and cool to beat the summer heat.

I enjoyed a wonderful Mexican scramble today. The portions are ample and very tasty. However today the cook was in a bit of a rush maybe, because the American fries where more just warm, than crispy. I'll ask for extra crispy next time. Nice variety of breakfast and lunch items. On of my favorites here is their pancakes. They are thin and eggy. Yummy! One down side for me is paying more for an extra fajita, salsa, sour cream. For the price of the meal seems bit of steep to charge more for condiments. All in all I recommend and enjoy the food and most of the staff.
Awesome breakfast! Fast and friendly service, too. A nice place for a quick or leisurely meal.
The bisquits and gravy were lousy. The food was mediocre. I wouldn't return to this place. The sign was falling down as we came in. The entire restaurant is dilapidated. The service was OK. I think they survive on the local population. The food was gross. The vegetables were under cooked in the omelette. It was just bad a place that doesn't try.
