White Castle takes no prisoners when it comes to fans. Either you love those weird little sliders squashed between day old buns or you loathe the place and all it represents. Having never been "blessed" by adoration stirred up by that dull blue and white sign or converted by Harold and Kumar movies, I approached White Castle with indifference. One bite of their products, on the other hand, threw me in the camp of vitriolic disgust. On the plus side, the food is cheap. Dirt cheap. For a buck you can eat something, though I doubt whether that qualifies as food. Ingested compound, maybe, but I fear to think what comes out the other end after digestion. On the negative side, everything else piles up. Their burgers taste like chopped liver, and onion is not a condiment and an accessory to culinary murder. Liver should not be part of any fast food experience but to christen your grease-glistening "treasures" with that despised flavour is a form of torture defined by the Geneva Convention. Limp fries are avoided by crinkle cut, but instead they are fried within an inch of their sorry potato lives, encrusted in salt, and thrown in the same vat that lends everything its livery flavour. I couldn't escape Prison at Grandma's House by noshing on French fries, so I turned in despair to a bottle of VitaWater I took for the gym. Nyugh! Nothing gets the taste of out my mouth except time and extra-strength minty toothpaste. White Castle, I besiege you and in the tradition of good Canadians in 1812, I'd like to burn your menu books to the ground. Let's start again without being so greasy, gloppy, and gut-wrenchingly yucky.

Oh Whitey's...how I love you! When I first realized that I lived down the street from a Whitey's, I was over the moon excited. Onion petals, clam strips, chicken rings, crinkle fries and bacon jalapeno double cheeseburgers... Oh and don't forget the cheese sticks (for gastrointestinal purposes) - these things are haute cuisine in some circles, namely the circles that I run in that feel it necessary to come home from the bar at 2 am only to leave again bent on walking to the Castle for a late night crave session. The smell alone permeates everything...the air, your clothes and your pores - but it just tastes so good (until the next morning anyways). I can't imagine what the people who live behind Whitey's do to contain themselves from the perfume of steam grilled onions wafting over the wall. This location in particular is easily one of the top two I've ever eaten at. Miss Annie who works the late shift (usually) is like a slider serving fry cooking angel. No matter how inebriated you feel you'll need to be to 1st go-to and 2nd order-from Whiteys, she'll get you your crave fix and send you out the door with a smile on, both, your face and her's. Two side notes though...first, the surf and turf is quite possibly the scariest thing I've ever ordered from anywhere (definitely the least enjoyable to eat) and second, as far as I know I hold the record for the largest White Castle drive thru order to be shared between two humans with the final bill totaling over $48 in burgers etc. See my pics - it was gross, yet terribly impressive and totally delicious!

As Canadians, we only know White Castle via Harold and Kumar and friends' horror stories about slimy burgers and "grey meat". Well, I have recently moved to Michigan and my boyfriend suggested we try it (Side note: we were actually on our way to Dutch Girl Donut after bowling at Ren Cen Bowling when we spotted "WC"). The sliders are not as bad as I imagined. Ok, well the originals looked terrible so I didnt eat one, but the bacon and cheese was edible. Fish and chicken were ok.. Edible but no sauce so its like whats the point. You have to keep in mind what you are eating. Because what it comes down to is it's the lowest on the burger totem pole and you just have to accept it. But its not vile. Its a bucket list burger.

I love White Castle! This location though, slowest. Service. Everrrrrr. I instantly regret my decision to eat at White Castle every time 10 minutes pass in the line, and there is no way out unless your in a monster truck. It also would be fantastic if when you get to the window they acknowledge that the service was slow. I will go miles out of my way next time I have "the crave" to find another location.

The stars are for the Waffle sandwiches. I tried the chicken & waffle and breakfast waffle sandwiches and both were very good. If the used the chicken rings instead of the chicken cutlet it would be better but I still devoured it as is. The drive through is still SUPER SLOW but this was worth the wait. These are a limited time offer so try them before they are gone.

I know, I know, a review of white castle, silly I know. No one was in line, I drove right up and made an order. It was simple, 6 white castles, that was it. I waited at the window for over 15 minutes for them to give me my 6 burgers. No, fries, no drink, just 6 burgers... 15 minutes. It's been a while since I've been to a white castle and I was floored by the price of these things now, 69 cents each! For another 30 cents I can get a McDouble or a bacon jr. cheeseburger from wendy's! Sorry they are not worth the money and especially when you have to wait 15 minutes to get them!

It's like all of the White Castle restaurants decided they would be slow as hell preparing your food even when nobody is in the drive thru. I think they have a secret pledge to do everything they can to prevent decent customer service across the entire nation.

I love living in Massachusetts. We have so many great places to eat, fun sports teams to watch, great music and culture. What are we missing? WHITE CASTLE! If I want some sliders I have to go to Stop and Shop and by some in the frozen food section then nuke them. A few years ago my brother and his wife bought a house in Ferndale, MI. The first time I went to visit them, I walked up their street and there it was. WHITE CASTLE. I believe the first time I went in there, you could still smoke in there. So there was the smell of Sliders and menthol cigarettes in the air. It doesn't sound good, but it somehow worked. So I ordered a handful of sliders, some cheese fries and walked back to my brothers. My mouth was watering the whole time. By the time I got back they were at perfect temperature. Cute little bite size burgers. My sister in law thinks I'm crazy to begin with, but I got more crazy points when she learned that not only did I go to White Castle, but that I thought it was the best burger in the history of fast food burgers. A trip to White Castle is my 2nd favorite reason to go to Michigan!

I just really wanted to do a 3 star review to fill the empty slot so I thought about it and here I am. I LOVE crappy food! White Castle has a place in my heart from childhood where my dad would take me to get "Gut-Bombs" from time to time, but here's where they really became special; We didn't have a White Castle anywhere near our house. It took until just a few short years ago for a White Castle to be built in Flint so it was a Magical place when I was a kid. The only time I could ever attempt to talk my Dad into getting more Gut-Bombs was when we went to Grandma's house in Riverview. Sometimes during Hockey games we would pass by one too. I loved them then and I love them now. The thing is that they call this FAST food. I mean, it's not all that fast, is it. I can literally walk to the White Castle in Ferndale which is cool but I may as well call in the order because it takes SOOOOO long. Made to order maybe? All I know is I can be the ONLY person in their restaurant or drive through and I will wait anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes for ANYthing I order. I wonder if that's part of their "What You Crave" policy; to make you wait a long time for your not-so-fast food so you Crave it more. Also what I did not fathom as a child is the fact that the food has absolutely NO nutritional value. You may as well mix up a couple cups of sugar and a few sticks of butter and eat that. But -DAMN it is SOOO Good!!! (White Castle - not the Butter and sugar, though that might be a good start for cookies! If you make some send me a message and I'll come get some.) This is one of my favorite, "I'm gonna go eat this and then feel bad that I did afterwords," type restaurants. Oh - Once a blue moon I Love their chocolate shakes. Effing Dieting... Why couldn't I eat this kinda stuff every couple days and still look good and stay healthy!?

So this last weekend, I lost my virginity....to White Castle that is. Up to last Friday, I could proudly boast that I have never eaten a twinkie, nor have I ever had White Castle in my life. At least, I still can boast of my twinkie-free existence, because I will shamefully say that I finally tried the delicacies that are offered at White Castle (and I mean delicacies in a full-on sardonic manner). This is your typical fast food joint, known for its sliders, so why am I giving it three stars? Oh because they start serving breakfast at midnight! Anyone that knows me knows that I love a good breakfast, and fast food breakfast is no exception. I was over the moon excited to order hashbrowns at one am. I also was convinced to try the clam strips, which I will politely say, were very interesting* as they basked in their over-fried, greasy, and chewy glory. I didn't try the sliders as I don't eat red meat, but the BF got them and totally enjoyed them. Only gripe: they were out of Diet Coke, wtf??? (Yes, I totally want to be that fat American and order diet pop with my fried foods! Don't hate.) *I once had a professor that would say using the word "interesting" didn't actually mean anything when it was used to describe something ...people just used it because they didn't have any other way to better to describe whatever they were talking about. This fully applies to my review.
